Ok so this is for the Valentine's Day challenge...

Ok as promised here is the first part to the story! I finished writing it last night so I will post the rest of it tomorrow.

Philip and Elizabeth Leland gazed over the enormous crowd in their son’s house. They were very pleased at the amount of people that were there. Myles, on the other hand, looked anything but pleased. His parents had manipulated him into using his home, and so far this evening he was without a friend.

The entire gang promised they would be there, but so far none had shown up. And to make matters worse his sister had emailed and said it was probably better if she didn’t come. After the incident at Callahan & Merced, the elder Leland’s had turned a very cold shoulder at their daughter, and cut off almost all contact with her. Leaving Myles caught in between.

Once again Myles found himself pacing by the front entryway almost willing them to ring the doorbell. And then it did. He quickly walked the distance to the door and opened it. “I’m so glad you could come,” he said opening the door wider.

“We couldn’t miss the social event of the season Myles.” Bobby teased.

“Very funny.” Myles said as his parents walked up.

“Hello, you must be Myles’ coworkers.” Mrs. Leland said.

“That would be correct. I’m Tara Williams.” Tara said, followed by each member making his or her own introductions.

“It’s very nice to meet all of you.” Mrs. Leland replied. “I hope you enjoy yourselves.”

Soon everyone one had scattered off to a different part of the room, mingling with the rest of the guests. But it was not long before Jack managed to ‘accidentally’ bump into Sue and ask her to dance. She willingly let Jack lead her to the dance floor and was quickly lost by the sensation of being in his arms.

“Thanks.” She said.

“For what?”

“For saving me from those incredibly boring people I was talking with.” Sue smiled.

“No problem. I was kind of wondering if you wouldn’t like to be my date for the rest of tonight.” Jack suggested. And he was about to add something more when she answered him.

“I would love to.”

“Good.” He said stopping. “Would you like something to drink?” He signed.

“Sure.” She said as Jack took her hand in his. As they made their way over to the drinks several pairs of eyes followed them.

“Oh look what a lovely couple.” A senator from Colorado said.

“Very nice.” His wife agreed as did the two people they were talking with at that moment. Which just happened to be D and his wife.

“Do you know them?” The Senator asked.

“Yes, I work with them.” D replied.

“How long have they been together?”

“Well that depends on who you ask. Them, or one of their coworkers.”

“What would they say?”

“Never.”

“And what would you say?” The Senator’s wife asked intrigued.

“Since the day they met over two years ago. However, office politics and stubbornness seem to be standing in the way of anything official.” D added.

“Where do they work?”

“The FBI. He’s an agent and she is the FBI’s secret weapon.”

“So Tara, are you enjoying yourself?” Myles asked.

“I am thank you.”

“Good. Good.” Myles said nervously. “Well I better get moving. I’ll see you later.”

Tara looked after Myles curiously wondering what could have him so flustered. Then shook it off and turned her attention to Lucy and Bobby who had just walked up.

“What did Myles want?” Lucy asked.

“Just checking on how things were going.” Tara replied nonchalantly.

“Oh. Ok. So did I mention how much I love your skirt?” Lucy said.

“I’ll leave you ladies to your shop talk.” Bobby said looking for Jack.

As Bobby walked through the crowd he finally spotted his buddy. Jack was standing off in a corner with Sue signing back and forth. He hesitated for a moment not really sure if he wanted to interrupt what was going on. But he decided that joining the conversation wouldn’t totally ruin anything. Of course at the rate they were signing, which grant it wasn’t extremely fast, but it was moving quick enough that Bobby was pretty sure he wouldn’t be able to follow. As he got within about ten feet of them someone called his name. Turning around he saw Darcy, dressed in a slim-fitting red dress.

“Close your mouth Agent Manning.” Bobby did as told. “Good, now I would like a proper greeting.”

Bobby quickly closed the distance between them and gave her a small kiss. “I’m glad you decided to come.”

“Me too. So what do you say we hit the dance floor?”

“Just a minute, I need to talk to Jack… Where’d he go?” Bobby said noticing Jack was no longer in the corner.

“He just walked out the door.” Lucy said then complimented Darcy on her dress.

“What?”

“He’s gone. As in no longer in the building.”

“How do you know?” Bobby asked.

“Sue just came and told me she didn’t need a ride home.” Lucy said grinning from ear to ear.

Bobby’s eyebrows shot up. “Really…well it’s about time.”

Just then Dimitrius, Donna, and Tara joined the group and Myles was right behind them.

“Did I just see what I think I saw?” D asked.

“Yeah because I’m pretty sure I just saw Sue and Jack leave together.” Myles agreed.

“Then what you saw is real.” Lucy said.

“Wow!” Tara said.

“It’s about time!” Myles said receiving an odd look from his colleagues. “What? It is!”

“Now lets just hope they don’t blow it.”

“So where’s Levi tonight?” Jack asked as they strolled through the park.

“With Troy. He’s going to drop him off tomorrow morning.”

“I see…so how long do you think it took for them to realize we left together.”

“Well I told Lucy, so I imagine its already been discovered and discussed.” Sue said.

“Probably. Have you eaten?”

“Not since this afternoon.”

“Would you like to grab some take-out, then we can watch that movie I promised.”

“Ok. But how about you take me home first so I can get changed out of this dress.”

“Deal.” Jack signed.

“I love that movie.” Sue said as the credits rolled.

“Definitely a classic.” Jack agreed.

“Well I’d better get home.”

“It is getting late.” Jack agreed getting his keys.

As Jack pulled up to Sue’s building his stomach turned to knots. He had taken her home many times before, but somehow this seemed different. He was now moving on automatic, he helped Sue out of the car and walked her to the door of her apartment.

“Thanks.” Sue said turning to face Jack.

“No problem.” Jack signed.

After a few seconds of that all too familiar awkward silence Sue spoke up again, trying to delay going into her apartment; regretting ever mentioning she needed to go home. “We should do this again…” Sue stopped as she felt Jack’s lips brushed hers. She immediately responded by moving her arms around his neck, and as he deepened the kiss Sue felt all control leave. Too soon the need for air pulled them apart. Awkwardly they looked at each other, both feeling sixteen again, not really sure about what to do next.

Resisting the urge to pull her close again Jack signed ‘goodnight’ and took off down the hallway. Sue whispered a reply after him, not being able to take her eyes off of him she didn’t open her door until she could no longer see him.

As Sue changed into her nightclothes her thoughts were all on Jack and what had just transpired. Jack had kissed her! Not just the friendly peck-on-the-cheek kiss that was the often occurrence, but a full-fledged kiss! Much deeper and passionate then the under-cover one; but it showed perfectly how long each had been feeling this “love” for each other.

Sue climbed into bed and took a look at the clock, 1 am. She was amazed at how late she had been at Jack’s. As she drifted off to sleep her dreams were filled with the man whom she knew would always be around for Valentine’s Day and much more.
