Let It Snow
Oh the weather outside is frightful
But the fire is so delightful
And since we've no place to go
Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow!
It doesn't show signsof stopping
And I've bought some corn for popping
The lights are turned way down low
Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow!
When we finally kissgoodnight
How I'll hate going out in the storm!
But if you'll really hold me tight
All the way home I'll be warm
The fire is slowly dying
And, my dear, we're still goodbying
But as long as you love me so
Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow!
The tinny broadcast of the popular carol was certainly appropriate for their own weather forecast. It didn’t show signs of stopping. Traffic was snarled, planes grounded and trains overcrowded as potential travelers were forced to put their holidays on hold. There was no doubt; they wouldn’t be getting through tonight. They’d have to make the best of it here and try again in the morning. Turning to his companion he smiled apologetically and said…

Short fluff J/S. Bobby and Myles in story too. PG17. (Just to see if I can write fluff without angst and it seems I can, well you might disagree.)
“Looks like were not going to make it home tonight mate”
“Wonderful. I bet Sue and Jack won’t mind having to be undercover one more day though”
“No I guess not”
They pulled into a motel and secured the last room and threw their bags down on each bed before slumping on the bed they each had chosen themselves.
Bobby switched on the television and surfed until he reached the weather channel.
“It’s meant to stop snowing by the morning” he commented
“Humph” grunted Myles “Why do we get Alaska and Sue and Jack get sun and sand?”
“I know I could have easily gone in Jack’s place I think I would have made a great ‘honeymooner’ with Sue”
“Jack wouldn’t let you that close to her for a week while he was stuck with me would he?”
“No you’re right, let’s hope that Sparky will act on his feelings now he’s someplace private with the woman of his dreams”
“Some hope of that” said Myles sarcastically “But the weather does look brighter for them than us” he added dejectedly as he looked out of the window and all he could see was snow, even the car had disappeared.
^^^^^
Jack wearing shorts and a T-shirt walked from the lobby of the hotel to the beach, ignorant of the appreciative looks he was receiving from the women he passed as he continued down to Sue who stood looking out to the ocean. He touched her on the shoulder to gain her attention, she turned and smiled and he swallowed hard at the sight of her in a sundress which accentuated her body in all the right places.
“Well?” she asked “What did they say?”
“No flights today, maybe tomorrow, weather’s bad back home, snow, stopped all flights in and out. I checked with the hotel and they said we can have the room for one more night”
The lapsed into silence and they both looked out across the ocean and thought about the events which had brought them here in the first place.
^^^^^
The case had come in two weeks ago and due to a couple of early leads Myles and Bobby had been sent to Alaska under the guise of loggers and Sue and Jack to Antigua as a ‘honeymoon couple’. Both parties had wrapped the case up the previous day and were hoping to get back home for Christmas but seeing as it was now the 23rd December that was unlikely.
^^^^^
“Walk?” Sue signed to Jack who nodded in assent
They walked along the shore, as the waves barely covered their feet, softly lapped the sand and he reached for her hand and entwined his fingers with hers caressing them softly as he did so. They might as well still act like a couple he thought otherwise everyone they had met might think it a little odd.
Jack had spent the last week in pure torment and agony, as a newlywed couple they were given the honeymoon suite and in the suite was one bed, a large bed but only one. He tried to insist that he would sleep on the floor but Sue pointed out that if they were being watched this wasn’t going to work and so he had relented and allowed himself to share the bed with her. He tried to stay over on his side but every night in his sleep had moved so that he always woke with his arms around her, feeling her soft body next to him, it was almost more than he could bear. Cold showers and long runs had not done much to help. What was he to do? He couldn’t go on not telling her how he felt. He had dated lots of women in the past, thought it was the real thing with one or two of them but not until he fell for Sue did he know what the real thing was. Now he knew he was truly in love but could he ever tell her how he felt?
Sue relished the feel of Jack’s warm hand caressing hers and didn’t want it to stop, any of it. The feelings he evoked in her were on one hand new and exciting and on the other familiar and she didn’t know if she should love a man who according to the rules of their employment was forbidden to her or not. She decided that you couldn’t control who God sent for you to love and therefore she shouldn’t feel guilty that Jack was for reasons unknown chosen for her. He hadn’t said how he felt but then did he have to? Each morning she’d woken to feel his arms around her, sometimes his body was pressed up against hers and although she was innocent in some things she instinctively knew that he wanted to be doing more than just holding her.
They had kissed three times on this assignment and each time was better than the last, she tried to kid herself that it was part of the job but when she felt his moan she knew it was just the same for him.
The kisses that they had shared had nearly sent him over the edge he had attempted to tell himself that they were in aid of the case and well in a way they had been but if he was playing strictly by the rules they wouldn’t have been as heated as they were or lasted as long no that was both for his benefit and he wouldn’t have continued with any of them if he had not felt her response to him too. He wanted to kiss her now; if he was honest he wanted more than just a kiss. He looked around the stretch of beach they had walked to, it was fairly quiet with no more than a dozen people scattered in and out of the sea.

“I’m starving” announced Myles
“You think we should venture out in that!” declared Bobby
“I’ll go to the front desk, see what they can suggest” Myles said
“You must be hungry” Bobby said and turned his attention back to the screen as he watched reruns of friends it was either that or a chick flick or two, a documentary on abscesses or the Rugrats.
It took Myles a good ten minutes to navigate the path to the desk which would under normal conditions taken mere seconds.
“Is there any place I can get food?” he asked
The man shook his head and replied “I don’t think Ike’s pizza going to deliver in this, there’s a couple of machines here though” and he pointed to the vending machine along the wall
“Thank you” said Myles and went to investigate.
He bought some chips, pre-wrapped cookies, candy bars and muffins and bundled them into various pockets of his coat.
The man said “Here you can take some more coffee for the machine in your room should keep you going for a bit”
“Thank you” he mouthed in response before braving the conditions to return to the room
“Any luck?” asked Bobby
“Only this” said Myles emptying his pockets
“Better than nothing”
“That’s what I thought” said Myles “Is the heat on it’s freezing in here?”
“Yeah it’s on max which is five on the dial but it doesn’t seem to be any hotter than it was on three”
Myles grunted an unintelligible reply and put the coffee on the filter “Coffee? Warm you up a bit”
“Yeah why not? Did you buy all these goodies for yourself?”
“No I thought we could share. I used all my small change”
They settled down with their hot drinks and snacks.
“Is there nothing else on?” asked Myles not enjoying Friends at all
“No. We could watch the weather channel; see how hot it is in Antigua?”
“No I’ll watch Friends instead thank you, I do not need to be reminded that Sue and Jack got the better deal on this assignment than we did”
^^^^^
She felt him stop and she turned to face him as she watched the intense look in his eyes. Jack wove his hand through the soft tresses of her hair and felt his heart beat catch in his throat by the simple touch, with trepidation he brought his other hand up to trace the contours of her face and felt her sudden intake of breath.
“Beautiful you” he signed to her as he cupped the side of her face gently in his hand and gave in to the desire to kiss her.
Her mouth was soft against his as he gently nipped and teased her with his teeth and lips and gradually she opened up to him as he slid his tongue inside and met with hers before he pulled her body closer so that it was flush with his and their was no mistaking his desire which was just for her. His other hand stroked the sensitive skin behind her ear and her neck and soon his mouth followed his fingers sending little shock waves coursing through her as she endeavoured to draw him even closer. Jack moved back to her lips tracing them with his tongue kissing her lightly and then with more pressure and she was sure her knees would give way from the sensations he was creating in her. She had thought the other kisses they had shared were mind blowing but this kiss; this kiss which was not for the benefit for their undercover assignment was something else.
^^^^^
Myles was snoring on his bed and Bobby rolled his eyes heaven ward climbing off his bed to shout “MYLES” in his colleague’s ear
“What?” said Myles sitting up abruptly
“You’re snoring”
“Was I?”
“Yes”
“What time is it?”
“Two”
“A.M?”
“Yes”
“Weather update?”
“It’s stopped”
“Snowing?”
“Yes”
“Where? Here or DC?”
“Here I can’t see as far as DC from here”
“Ha ha” Myles retorted and ventured to the window to look out to the night “I always think it looks pretty when it’s untouched like this” he said
“As opposed to…?”
“Being slush on the streets of DC” Myles said elaborating “any coffee left?”
“Two sachet’s”
“Want a coffee?”
“You making it?”
“Yes”
“Okay then”
“Why don’t you want to make it?”
“Because I was sensible enough to stay in bed and am warm whereas you who got out of bed to check the snow are already cold”
“Thank you for your wonderful observation skills”
“Hey that’s what I do” he said with a grin which was lost on Myles as they hadn’t switched the light on but he did so in order to make the drink.
^^^^^
Sue lay in the bed Jack lay beside her sleeping and she watched from the dim glow of the light on the nightstand as his features were relaxed. She thought back to the previous afternoon the kiss they had shared, well technically kisses, he hadn’t stopped with one and she hadn’t wanted him to. They had walked back to the hotel arms entwined instead of hands sat on the terrace and eaten dinner before retiring to bed. He had promised her that she could trust him and she did, but she wasn’t sure if she could trust herself, it was odd she thought how your morals can fly out the window when you are reduced to a pool of mush as she had been when Jack had kissed her. So much so she had nearly slept on the floor, but if Jack had the will power then she did too. His even breathing, the rise and fall of his chest told her was sound asleep and she couldn’t help herself but lightly run her finger across the features of his face, down his collar bone to his chest and lower and lower until his hand suddenly reached out and grasped hers, stilling it and she looked up and her gaze met with the burning intensity of his.
“Stop” he said thankful she couldn’t hear the unnaturally high tone of his voice as he tried to administer some self control, her touch was playing havoc with his desire. “Here” he added and placed her hand back onto his face where she hesitantly began to stroke his cheek and he closed his eyes as he tried valiantly to compose himself.
Sue couldn’t help but lean forward and daringly she brushed her lips across his and he moaned, he was going to push her away but he didn’t want to hurt her feelings or give her the wrong impression and his self control was dissolving like an ice cream on a hot day as he gave in and gathered in her into him kissing her as though they would be no tomorrow and hoping that kissing would be enough for both of them.
^^^^^
Knocking on the door awoke them the next morning and he jumped out of bed instantly regretting it, it was freezing the heater must have given up the ghost altogether, he was grateful they had one sachet of coffee left he needed it.
Standing there was a large man “Hear you needed to fly out” he said indicating with his head the direction of the reception. “My brother the proprietor said there were a couple of FBI agents in room 24 so here I am to offer my help”
Bobby peered out of the door at the deep snow, he had not been accustomed to snow as a child and it had been a shock and taken several years to get used to once he started living in the states.
“Yeah, planes are flying out?”
“Seem to be. I’m with the snow plough though, want a ride? To the airport going that way and it doesn’t look like your hire car will be going anywhere for a while”
Bobby looked to where they had parked the hire car the night before then back to the man who was taller and broader than himself.
“That would be good”
“Ten minutes”
“Sure” Bobby shut the door and woke Myles and said “We’re getting out of here” as he hurriedly dressed himself. “Now Myles”
“Okay, okay I’m there” Myles said struggling out of his warm cocoon and dragging on his cold and damp clothes as Bobby filled him in on what was happening.
^^^^^
The second time Sue awoke was to an empty bed, the sun shone through the open window and she could see Jack standing on the balcony dressed in a pair of jeans, she glanced at the clock which read almost nine and donning a dressing gown she walked out to wrap her arms around him as his hands clasped protectively over her to prevent her from slipping away before he lost his nerve before he didn’t say what he had needed to say for a long time.
^^^^^
Bobby and Myles sat at the airport drinking hot coffee and eating a cooked breakfast which was filling their cavernous stomachs nicely as they watched for their flight to come up on the board.
“Looks like we’ll be home in time for Christmas after all” said Myles
“Mmm” said Bobby with a mouthful of food which he swallowed before saying “I wonder about Jack and Sue though”
^^^^^
Jack pulled her round to face him, they stood inches apart staring at each other for long minutes he took her hand in his and said “Sue I love you”
“I know” she said nodding “I love you too as long as I can remember knowing you”
He smiled in return and was just about to kiss her when the telephone rang. “Phone” he signed and went to answer it.
He returned and said “Flights are operating now, we can go home”
“It’s too late for me to get back to my parents” she whispered “Lucy will be away with family. Stay with me Jack?”
Jack nodded and raised her hand to his lips where her placed a small kiss and said “Let it snow, then who knows how long we’ll be alone together”
And when they got back to Dc, just for him it did.

No disagreeing here, Rosa! You sure CAN write fluff!!! I read it during lunch at work and I think it is great. Loved Bobby and Myles' nighttime banter ('I can't see as far as DC from here').
One complaint though....the last two words! I think this story has potential for more, especially as it's not even Christmas in the story......

I'm so happy that you've joined the site! I've enjoyed all of your stories so far, including this one. The little interplay between Alaska/Antigua was great. I know you are doing a sequel for your other story and would like to point out that this one would make a great Part 1 also!!! Keep up the fantastic work and Happy New Year!

Loved the contrast between Alaska and Antigua. I don't blame Myles and Bobby a bit for thinking they got the worst of that deal. Great S/J fluff.
