That interruption was just too funny. Lovely post.

OK, I completely loved the warm fuzzies between Jack and Sue in that last post, but.......is Jack not totally flabbergasted about Sue being able to hear or has that not sunk in yet! I mean I would be too shocked and estatic to do anything!! Can't wait to see where you are going to take us from here!

“And keep your hands to yourself”, the new nurse added. “Both of you.” Jack gently lowered her down on the mattress, winking at her, as he noticed how flustered she became when she realised she unbuttoned his shirt completely. “This is an hospital, for goodness sake”, staring at both of them. “She is supposed to rest. Taking your blood pressure will be pointless at this moment”, rolling her eyes. “I will be back in twenty minutes …behave”, she warned them before leaving.
As soon as the nurse left, he cupped her head, his thumb brushing her cheeks.
“I love you, too, Jack”, she repeated, gazing tenderly at him, leaving him no doubt she also meant it.
“I know, you told me, remember?” she nodded, smiling. “You can really hear me?” still having trouble believing it.
“Yes, it's …amazing”, not totally believing it herself. “The nurse's voice wasn't that …” gaping in surprise as she glanced around, her previous thoughts about the nurse suddenly forgotten.
The flowers, the balloons, the stuffed animals, the gifts, all carrying the same message …that he loved her.
“Thank you, Jack”, wiping her tears. “They are so cute”, cuddling the Baby Bear that was within reach.
“You're welcome. I have something else”, taking the box and placing it on her lap. “Open it.”
“It's so soft”, brushing the flannel nightie against her cheek. It had three buttons in front and looked like it would reach her knees. It was pink with little cupids wearing only red sash and holding bows and arrows, and with red hearts floating between the cherubs. “It smells like vanilla”, burying her nose in it.
“That'd be my fabric softener”, he informed her. “I thought maybe you'd want to wear something a bit more cheerful.”
“Yes. Would you help me with it?” she daringly asked.
“With pleasure”, he replied huskily.
“Would you close the curtain around the bed”, watching mischievously as he quickly obeyed, giving them full privacy. “And step on the other side, please?"

“Not exactly what I had in mind”, he mumbled while waiting on the other side. He could hear fabric ruffling, fuelling his already overactive imagination.
“I heard that, Jack”, her musical voice coming from behind the curtains, making him laugh.
“You unbuttoned my shirt”, he reminded her a few minutes later, grinning. “It would only be fair that I get to return the favour …one way or …”
“Jack”, she called in panic. “My I.V. is stuck.”
“Don't move. I'm getting the nurse.”
The nurse wasn't particularly impressed by the change of wardrobe, reminding them there was a reason that hospital gowns were design the way they were. And it wasn't for aesthetic reason.
“Take the I.V. out”, Sue demanded decisively. “I'm fine. I don't need it.”
“Not without the doctor's order.” Jack gripped the curtain, ready to barge on the other side. That nurse was grating on his nerves. “The bag should slide through the sleeve. Hold it up”, she instructed to Sue, halting Jack's endeavour. “Good. Your arm now. All done.” Swiftly opening the curtain the nurse came face to face with Jack. “I'm going to get her something to eat, don't get her into anymore trouble”, pointing a finger at him.
“No ma'am”, almost saluting the severe nurse.
Sue was lying on her bed, fine lines of exhaustion on her face. “I never thought putting a nightie on could be tiring.”
“That's why you should have let me help you, instead of the dragon lady”, noticing the three little undone buttons. “I would have made it very enjoyable for both of us”, reaching for the lowest of the three.
“Too enjoyable, Jack”, blushing at the thought.
“Really?” his fingers tracing the V below her throat down to the swell of her breast and up again. “Is one button done enough?” he murmured huskily.
“Will she ground me for indecency?” his touch sending her senses in overdrive.
“Not even close”, smiling. “You know, that nurse is not totally wrong”, hating to break the spell, and siding with the dragon. Sue frowned. “You need rest. Your heart stopped twice. I should let you sleep, instead of kissing you senseless.”
“I'm not that tired”, she whispered seductively, her eyes riveted on his.
“Sue, if the nurse finds me in your bed passionately kissing you she will kick me out”, he pointed out.
“You …could lock the door.” He stared at her in astonishment. Was she still suffering from the effect of the concussion?
“Don't tempt me. I'm trying very hard to convince myself to be reasonable …and you're not helping, sweetheart”, leaning down for a light kiss, only to spiral out of control when his lips touched hers. He leisurely explored her mouth, giving the chance to catch up with him, which she was doing wonderfully. His hands behave very properly, staying over her nightie, while hers reached for his chest, the tip of her fingers caressing his skin through the narrow openings between the buttons of his shirt. He left feathery kisses along her jaw down her throat. Her hands encircled him, pressing him closer. He resisted the temptation of lying down with her, cradling her head against his shoulder instead. “I love you”, he whispered, his hand caressing her hair, soothing their feverish bodies. “You close your eyes, and take a little nap in my arms before your meal arrives”, making himself comfortable.
“Jack, what if …what if I cannot hear when I wake up?” worried at the prospect of losing it again.
“Well, then that special training school you're subjecting Levi to this week won't be a waste of money”, intending on lightening her serious mood. “Sue, either way, I am spending the rest of my life with you, starting now. What did the doctor say?”
“I haven't told him”, she admitted, somewhat embarrassed. He lifted her chin and gazed into her lovely eyes. “Jack, I was probed and poked so much, and the doctors could never explain why I suddenly stopped hearing. I'm guessing that somehow when I crashed into that trailer and hit my head …something happened”, cuddling closer to him. “I don't want any more tests”, sighing deeply.
“I understand, sweetheart. It will be okay.”
“Jack …could you take me for a ride?” she asked out of the blue, just as he could feel her relax in his arms.
“A ride?” arching his brow. “Now?”
“In a wheelchair. I would like to hear something …in case it's only temporary and I never get the chance again. Please?” begging him.
“Sure”, kissing her tenderly, unable to refuse her anything. “Let me see if I can find us some wheels and sneak you out from under the dragon's nose.”
Shortly after he was rolling her to the elevator, having avoided all the obstacles.
“Fourth floor”, she asked after checking the list on the elevator wall. She smiled at his stunned expression.
“Fourth floor, it is”, pressing the button, a smile appearing on his face as he leaned over her shoulder. “Matter of fact, I wouldn't mind practicing taking you there”, he whispered to her ear before kissing her neck.

Sue stared in fascination. It was feeding time and a few hungry infants were wailing for attention.
“I never heard a baby cry before, Jack. It's nothing like I imagined”, the sound travelling through the glass window. She felt his hands gently kneading her shoulders over her new nightie.
“Better or worse?” he asked, his curiosity aroused.
“Better …much better”, nodding contently. “Why are you laughing?” lifting her head towards him, very much liking the sound of his laughter.
“Because I'm actually hoping we'll have a quiet baby, sweetheart.”
“Not if he's anything like his daddy”, she quipped, chuckling quietly.
“Does that mean you would agree to have one of those?” he asked hopeful.
“More than one, Jack”, she replied softly, the longing in her eyes matching his. “So if you're not up to the task, you should tell me now”, her eyes shimmering devilishly. “Jack?” she yelped, as he turned the wheelchair around. “Where are we going?”
“You and I have some unfinished business to attend. I'm taking you back to bed.”
