Nothing To Chance

He’d left nothing to chance. At least he hoped he hadn’t. And he was good at planning, so this was sure to go off without a hitch. Ever since Tara had cajoled them all into taking part in her current festival of the week, St. Valentine’s Day.

“Come on, it will be fun,” she had encouraged her dubious team.

“Look, we’re used to you playing around with Christmas, and I don’t even mind the bunnies and chicks at Easter, though the live ducklings were a bit much last year. But Valentine’s Day, Tara? Is nothing sacred to you?” he had been the first to protest, but as usual to no avail.

Tara had compromised. “Okay, we won’t do everything I planned, but we will do…this one. Yes, this looks like fun!” She had grinned up at them all from her perch at the computer with such enthusiasm that no one had the heart to discourage her. “This is an ancient Valentine’s Day custom. And it’s easy to do. You have to claim the first person of the opposite sex that you see on Valentine’s Day for your Valentine.”

“And that would entail?”

“Oh, I don’t know, taking him, or her, out to lunch, doing absolutely everything together all day and then something special in the evening. Come on, this should be lots of fun.”

“I’ve never wished you were in a committed relationship more than I do right now.” He forgot who said that, but it was the general consensus of the day.

Of course they had all grumbled and flatly refused to participate…which is why he was perched out here in the freezing cold before the sun had even risen waiting to for the first glimpse of…

okay this is kinda my first fanfic on here so i am kinda nervous let me know if it's not very good........ okay here goes nothing

Chapter one.

Sue. Jack stood hidden in the shadows. He had to see her first. The sickening feeling he got in his stomach when he thought of her seeing someone else first was to strong to ignore. He loved her so much. He knew that more than ever now. Ever since she had almost gone to New York. When he had found out it had scared him deeply. He never wanted to feel like that again. He was so deep in his thought that he almost missed her coming out of her building. He moved fast and caught her before she got too far. “Hi” he said as soon as she looked at him. She smiled at him and he felt his heart flutter. “I errr thought I would come and see if you wanted a lift to work” it was a lame excuse and he knew it. He silently cursed himself. Sue smiled again and said, “That would be great my car’s been playing up lately”. Jack looked at her and smiled and she looked at him curiously “Tara said the first person we saw we had to do everything with so I guess you’re stuck with me.” Sue smiled at him and signed OH NO I DON’T HAVE TO SPEND MY WHOLE DAY WITH YOU DO I Jack laughed and signed YES SO I HOPE YOU DON’T HAVE A DATE TONIGHT Sue rolled her eyes and chuckled at him. HAVE YOU TAKEN LEVI FOR A WALK YET sue shook her head and together they headed off to the park. In the park they walked in silence for a bit content in stealing glances at each other whenever possible. Jack rested his hand at the small of Sue’s back and felt her relax instantly. This will be the best day of my life they both thought at the same time.
Sue looked at Jack and signed SO WHAT DO YOU HAVE PLANNED FOR AFTER WORK Jack smiled and signed HOW DO YOU FEEL ABOUT GETTING A PIZZA AND GOING TO MINE OR YOUR’S AFTER WORK AND WE CAN MAYBE WATCH A FILM. Sue smiled at him fondly and signed YOUR PLACE WOULD BE FINE. Jack nodded and they returned to his car and drove into work.

The bullpen.

Tara looked up from her computer as she heard footsteps approaching. She had been the first to come in and was waiting for someone else to come in she knew he always arrived early so she had planned to get in before every one else. Her breath caught as she locked eyes with Bobby. Bobby looked at her and felt his heart miss a beat. God she looks amazing was the only coherent thought he was capable of. He took a couple of steps forward not even aware he was doing it. Tara stood up and as if on autopilot stood in front of her desk only centimeters away from him. Bobby walked closer still and closed the distance between them. His hands went to her waist and pulled her closer to him and as his head lowered so did Tara’s. The minute their lips touched they felt the electricity surge between them. Tara’s arms went around his neck and pulled him closer still. When they finally pulled away they were both breathing hard. Bobby looked at Tara and grinned at her before saying simply “I love you”. Tara smiled at him brilliantly and kissed him before saying “I love you too”. Before kissing her again Bobby’s only thought was that he loved this women and he wanted to be with her for the rest of his life.

trust me i want Bobby and Tara together as much as i wnat Jack and Sue together and it would be a very cruel dream for Tara and Bobby lol. although i would be lying if i said i didnt think of rewriting this next chapter to make it a dream lololol but i decided that i should be nice

When Lucy walked in that was how she found them. She couldn’t resist grabbing her camera out of her bag and taking a quick picture before clapping and whooping. Two of her best friends were together, only two to go. Lucy licked the tip of her index finger and pointed it in the air and made a spray paint can sound before blowing on her closed fist and rubbing it on the collar of her shirt. “two down tow to go” she said happily. Bobby and Tara blushed at being caught and after placing another lingering kiss on her lips he walked over to his desk and sat down. Tara stood in the middle of the bullpen where Bobby had left her in a daze. Lucy looked at her and chuckled. “What have you done to her Bobby” she asked laughing at the look on his face. “I only kissed her” he defended himself quickly. “must have been some kiss” Lucy choked out between laughing. She walked over to Tara and said, “Tara are you ok?” Tara shook herself and said, “yeah I’m fine” and sat down at her desk. Lucy walked over to her desk and sat down still laughing to herself.
Jack and Sue arrived shortly before Myles and after saying hi to the rest of the team sat down at their desks. Myles sat staring at Lucy for a while but it went unnoticed, as they were busy staring at the ones they loved. The day passed by uneventfully and when it was time to go home it didn’t go unnoticed by Myles or Lucy that Bobby that left with Tara and Sue left with Jack. Myles looked at Lucy questiongly and she motioned him over and showed him the picture she had taken earlier with her camera. She had bought it in to use up the last of her film and had got it developed at lunch. Myles smirked at the picture of the couple kissing. It was unmistakable that the couples were Bobby and Tara. He glanced at the picture another rotor had taken for them. It was of the whole team. No one could deny their feelings for each other as the picture said it. People often said the camera couldn’t lie but it could. This was a definite case where it hadn’t.
Lucy pulled an empty photo frame out of her drawer and put the photo of the team in it and placed it on her desk.
If anyone had seen them as they walked out the bullpen they would have been shocked at the sight of Lucy Dotson and Myles Leland holding hands.

This is the last post for tonight i will try and post more tomorrow this will only be a short story unless i get any ideas and decide to rewrite some of it lol

okay here is the flashback scene for Myles and Lucy i hope you like and i have tried to get their emotions and feelings right but i am a bit unsyre about it just let me know what you think.

Flashback to earlier that day
Myles goes to walk into the bullpen just before lunch to get his coat when Lucy hurtles into him. Myles grabs her to steady her and looks down into her face his breath catches and he slowly lowers his head. He keeps the kiss gentle not wanting to ruin the moment with Lucy. Why did I ever do her wrong, I love her so much and it kills me not being with her. They pull away for air and he smiles down at her. “Do you want to go to lunch with me” he asks her. Lucy nods shocked at the gentleness of the kiss. They walk out of the building and go for lunch at a restaurant.
The restaurant.
Myles looks at Lucy and says softly “is it too late for us.” Lucy smiles and maybe not Myles but I have to know why you cheated on me. I need to understand why you did and if I was really that bad of a girlfriend.” Myles blinks rapidly to stop the tears falling he knew he had hurt her when he did what he did but he didn’t realize just how much. “I was stupid and I didn’t think with my head. I should have said no but I didn’t and I have regretted it ever since. I lost the one person I truly love that day and my life hasn’t been the same since. It wasn’t your fault it was mine I let the fact that she wanted me go to my head. If it helps any I didn’t go with her for that weekend. I just couldn’t do it I knew what an idiot I had been and I realized that I loved you and no other woman would do for me”. Myles gives in to the tears and they slip silently and unchecked down his checks. Lucy reaches across and wipes them away. “I forgave you a long time ago Myles and I still love you. I don’t like what you did and it might take me a while to regain all my trust in you but I will get there.” “Can we start again Lucy I promise I will never give you a reason to doubt me again.” Lucy leans over and kisses him tears falling down her cheeks she never thought she could feel this way again. They walk back to the Hoover building after lunch and getting some film developed, holding hands and just before they reach the bullpen Myles gives Lucy a lingering kiss.

The restaurant.

Tara sat at the table facing Bobby. She couldn’t believe he loved her. It all seemed like a dream. She pinched her arm and yelped. No defiantly not a dream. She put her hand under her chin, content to just watch Bobby. She smiled at him and he winked, while giving her a dimpled smile. She felt herself blush and smiled even more.
I wonder if she knows what she is doing to me Bobby thought. He shifted in his seat and smiled at what was hiding snugly in his pocket.
There meal arrived and they sat eating in comfortable silence. Content at just being with each other. Bobby finished his meal and sat watching Tara as she finished off her meal. The waiter came over and asked if they would like another drink. They ordered a glass of wine each and after the plates had been taken away they sat talking about their families. Bobby smiled at the stories Tara told him of her life with her brother. “My mom has come over from Australia for her birthday” Bobby told Tara happily. “I haven’t seen her for two years, so it has been nice to see her and spend some time with her.” Bobby told her about his mom and the life they had had in Australia. “I’d love to meet her some time” said Tara, “She sounds like such a lovely woman” Bobby smiled at her and nodded saying “she certainly is”.

It' so romantic and lovely and...

Last minute date

Lucy was about to drive off when Myles approached her car. She saw him and wound her window down. “Lucy I was err wondering if you would like to go out for dinner or go to mine and I’ll cook us some dinner.” Lucy thought a moment before replying, “I’d love to Myles we can go to your place if you like.” Myles nodded and said, “Ok do you want to go straight to mine” Lucy nodded and after giving her a quick kiss Myles went back to his car. They drove to Myles’s house and once inside he took her coat and they went into the living room. “Would you like a drink?” he asked Lucy nodded and said, “please”. After asking what she wanted Myles went into the kitchen and came back carrying two glasses of wine. He gave Lucy hers and went back into the kitchen to make dinner. They made dinner together. A few hours later after they had eaten and shared the washing up chores they sat on the sofa and talked about work and their relationship. “I’m so glad you decided to give us another chance” Myles said smiling. Lucy smiled at him and said simply “Me too” she put her arms around his neck and kissed him. The only coherent thought Lucy had was I’m so glad I’m sitting down. They pulled apart a few seconds later breathless but content. Myles suggested watching a film and after deciding on one they sat on the sofa and snuggled together.

I think Myles knows how to create great evening... I think he is true romantic soul and I belive he will get a chance to show it in this story!!!

Jack and sue sat on his sofa relaxing, eating pizza and watching ghost. Jack put his arm across the top of the sofa and smiled when Sue shifted closer to him. They stayed like that until the film ended. He looked down at her and saw a tear rolling down her cheek. He tipped her face up and asked, “are you ok?”

Sue nodded and Jack couldn’t resist placing a lingering kiss on her lips. Sue looked at him and smiled saying “Ghost always makes me cry” she shook her head at the way a film could get to her.

Jack smiled and cleared his throat and said, “Sue there’s something I need to tell you”

That was definitely a snippet!! We need more!!! What is Jack going to say to Sue???

Jack smiled and cleared his throat and said, “Sue there’s something I need to tell you” He paused for a moment and then said, “I have known this for sometime and I just can’t hide my feelings for you anymore… Sue Thomas I love you”.

Sue couldn’t stop the tears streaming down her cheeks. “I love you too Jack… I always have.”

Jack smiled and pulled her into a passionate kiss. When they came up for air Jack released and pulled her into a standing position and getting down on one knee, “Sue Thomas I love you so much… I need in my life full time… I don’t feel complete without you… you complete me in ways you will never know… will you do me the incredible honor of becoming my wife?”

Sue dragged him up off the floor and started placing bufferfly kisses over every inch of his face saying yes over and over.

That was so sweet!

Pizza and something else part three

Later on that evening Jack went into his room and came out carrying a worn looking little black box. Sue gasped at the beautiful ring that sat in the box. The diamond twinkling at her.

Jack smiled at the look on her face and said, “It was my aunt’s ring, she gave it to me and said that I was to give it to the woman I knew I wanted to spend the rest of my life with.”

Sue smiled at him and said, “How do you know its me?”

Jack smiled at her and said confidently, “I love you so much and that wont change because we get old or anything else.”

Sue smiled through her tears and Jack took the ring out of the box. “I got it inscribed as well” He handed her the ring to read the inscription.

“May Our Hearts…” Sue looked at him to find out the rest of the inscription but he just smiled at her.

“You’ll have to wait for our wedding day to get the rest of the inscription” He laughed at the look on her face. Taking the ring off her he placed it on her ring finger and kissed her passionately.

Jack!!!!!

back to Tara and Bobby...

They eventually went back to Bobby’s and while Tara freshened up in his bathroom Bobby started to make his living room look more romantic. He put candles everywhere and lit them so that the only lit in the room was the gentle glow from the candles. He then went into the kitchen and got a bottle of wine and two glasses and set them on the table in the middle of the room.

Tara was coming down the stairs as Bobby was choosing a CD. Just as she walked into the room the music started and she smiled “Bobby Manning is that a Mojo Go-go CD you have in your possession.” She giggled at the look on his face.

“Well you said they were good so I thought what the heck might as well see if they will grow on me.” He probably wouldn’t tell her that he had brought it for what he was trying to pluck up the courage to do.

They sat on the sofa talking and drinking their wine. How am I going to ask. He thought realizing that there was no perfect moment. With that last thought he got up and pulled her into a standing position. He held one of her hands in his and was about to get down on one knee. Then the phone rang….

I might be back later i need food lol " "
