Thank you for all the anniversary wishes. We had a wonderful, relaxing, romantic time.

Sue looked past Jack to see a luxurious garden swing situated so that it overlooked the park where she and Levi walked every morning. Another tower heater glowed invitingly nearby. Several clusters of pillar candles flickered softly in the night, providing the light they would need. The blankets and fluffy pillows strewn across the plush bench promised added warmth, completing the intimate setting Jack had created. Stepping closer, she noticed a small side table set with various chocolates. Laughing, she turned to Jack, finding him regarding her intently. “I like the centerpiece,” she complimented, turning back to admire the pedestal platter, ringed with fruit. The center was reserved for a generous amount of dip. “I didn’t know there was that much dip leftover,” she commented dryly.
“I added to it,” he replied proudly, reaching for one of her hands and tugging her closer. “I remember how much you liked it.”
“How much
I liked it? I suppose you’ll just suffer through it for my benefit?”
“I suppose,” he said with an exaggerated sigh, working hard at keeping his face straight. “I’ll try to act enthusiastic if you should delve into the dip. But I make no promises,” he teased, unable to keep his gaze from her lips.
Seeing her shiver, he led her around the swing, and encouraged her to make herself comfortable.
She sank down and almost groaned aloud in delight, sinking into the soft, downy cushions. “This is heavenly, Jack. I’ve never seen a swing like this. Where did you find it?”
“Troy actually helped me,” he informed her as he offered her a blanket. “He has amazing connections. I was able to borrow this from the Madison Hotel, downtown.”
“Troy?” Sue repeated, making sure she had read the name correctly. “He’s out of town. How could he have helped?”
“I told you, Sue, I had a
PLAN for this day. Tara’s little challenge helped me tremendously. I did some research, came up with a list of things I might need, and Charlie and Troy helped me find most of the items.”
She patted the cushion next to her, watching him sit beside her, before leaning close, her head nestling on his shoulder. “This is perfect. I wish I could take this moment and freeze it for a while,” she whispered, her gaze drifting to the park in the distance. “I’m almost afraid I’ll wake up and this will all have been a dream.”
Shifting and pulling her into his arms and across his lap so that he could face her while talking, he smiled affectionately at her. “It’s no dream. And if it is, we’re sleeping together.”
Her face twisted adorably, the corners of her lips turning up impishly. “Did you just say that we were sleeping together? Because if you did, isn’t that a question you would ask someone, not tell? And as amazing as this day has been, I don’t remember doing
that with you. Somehow I think I would.”
“
CUTE,” he signed with a sardonic expression on his face before trailing a light finger down her cheek. “You know what I meant. I meant we were both asleep and having the same dream. But you’re right,” he drawled, his eyes sweeping her face, leaving her in no doubt of his growing awareness. “If we had done
that, you would have most definitely remembered it.”
She daringly met his eyes for several seconds, her toes curling at the passion she saw floating in their depths. “You know what I do remember?” she questioned solemnly.
“What?”
Shifting slightly, she reached behind her before running her finger along his lower lip, leaving a moist trail of dip behind. “This,” she whispered huskily, reaching up and boldly running her tongue along his bottom lip, tasting the heady mixture of the sweet concoction and Jack.
