Easter/Spring Challenge 2006

Our last two challenges have been incredibly successful! Our thanks go to Kav, who has been absolutely brilliant in composing intros for our writers to use as a springboard. Trying to come up with our next challenge has been a challenge in itself, and we thank our entire Mod Team for their input and ideas.

Rather than offering a story intro, we are offering four themes/titles that our authors can select. Each entire story will be completely original, with the exceptions of the titles. You are welcome to respond to any of the themes you wish – with over a month until the conclusion of the challenge, there is time for multiple entries! The themes are as follow:

Option 1: Chance of Rain

Option 2: Redemption

Option 3: Spring Cleaning

Option 4: Take These Broken Wings

The stories will be judged by the readers within the following categories:

1. Best Drama
2. Best Comedy
3. Best Romance (J/S Pairing)
4. Best Romance (Other Pairing)
5. Best Original Character
6. Best Themed Story (possibly one award per theme, depending on entries)
7. Best Short Story (5,000 words or less)
8. Best Junior Writer (age 18 and/or younger)*
9. Best New Writer**

* If your date of birth is not in your profile and you qualify as a junior writer, please notify justme_jp3 by PM so you can be included.

** To qualify as a New Writer, you must have no more than 2 stories/scenes on the board at the time of entering the challenge.

The Challenge opens immediately and runs through Easter, April 16, at midnight in your location. To enter, simply select the theme option you are going to write (1 – 4) and place your name in the title (for example: Chance of Rain - justme_jp3 - option 1). Don’t forget to include your rating in the description line!

I just wanted to know how does this challenge work...so we have until april 23 right !!!to finish off the challenge /the story!!

Actually, it was just pointed out that Easter is on April 16th, so the challenge deadline has been moved back a week - sorry about that!!

This is a more open challenge, so the titles are open to your interpretation. BUT, you cannot change any words in the titles, so please keep that in mind. You can take the point of view of any character in your story and put whatever meaning on the title you want (within reason... we do have ratings guidelines and spirit/honor code here). The point is to see how creative you can be within the theme you've selected.

Ok I havent done a challenge in a loooong looooong time, nor have I written STFBE in a long time but I have an idea for a cross over story with another show....is that allowed?

It would have the STFBE team plus another federal agency team....working togther to solve a crime....would that be ok?

cant promise I will do it...but the idea is floating around

Hi Allison!

Pick the theme that you like and go with it! As long as STFBEye is part of the story... you are good to go.

As a side note, if anyone wants to write a non-STFBEye story using the proprosed themes, that is fine... the goal is to get the creative juices flowing.... although they won't be considered for this challenge. There hasn't been much interest expressed before, but if we get some, we may consider adding another category in the next challenge. (ie. Best Non-STFBeye story).

If you have any comments about the challenges, feel free to PM myself, tinalynne or Justme_jp3 ... we are always open to ideas and appreciate the feedback. We can't always incorporate them, but knowing what you are interested in is appreciated.

Hi,

I've never written a fanfic before (in fact, this is the first time I've actually posted on this site), but I had an idea for a story that I think would fit in well with one of the Challenge options. So, I was thinking about entering the challenge, but I have a question. If I were to enter the challenge, being that I'm a new writer, is NW something that I'm supposed to enter in the description line, or is that something an admin is supposed to do? Please forgive me if this is a stupid question...

First of all, welcome... and I hope you do enter the challenge! You do not need to put NW in the description line unless you want to. It is a notation the mod team adds as we peruse the stories, to make it easier when we set up the voting.

You don't have to put a case in your story. It can have a different focus, but you do need to use the team.

And these aren't silly questions... the only silly questions are the ones you don't ask!
