Seeing Levi heading down the stairs, Jack followed. Holding the railing tight as he made his way down. “She isn’t gonna make it easy for me, is she?” He grumbled.
No, why should she?

It's not like you made it easy for her, mister!

He didn’t even notice Diana Grove who frantically waved her hand at him to gain his attention.

Jack’s eyes kept navigating the room trying to find his partner in crime solving. The woman who, if he didn’t act fast, would slip away thru his fingers. Walking towards the window to survey the outside area he noticed a golden blond haired woman on the terrace. She was having a good time talking to an agent from another department. He shifted to the right to get a better view of the scene, desperately trying to figure out what they were talking about; wishing he had her lip-reading skills. Memories filled his mind.
“You mean you can just look around the room and know what everybody’s saying?” He asked with a boyish grin.
“Yeah...” Sue nodded.
Hesitating at first, Jack shifted in his seat and pointed to a man on the terrace. “Okay, tell me what that guy outside is saying.”
Sue turned her head to see the man Jack was talking about and raised her brow at Jack. “No I can’t, it’s an invasion of privacy.” she stated.
“Oh, I’m not gonna tell anybody. This is the F.B.I.” He said sheepishly.
Not being able to resist Jack’s charm, Sue peeked outside again, but immediately she faced the floor in embarrassment, after she read what the man said. “Oh, I can’t repeat that” and shook her head.
“What? What’s he saying?” Jack’s grin turned wider, his curiosity getting the better of him.
She swallowed hard. “They have something planned for this weekend that I don’t think I should know about.“
Not completely believing what she said he repeated to her. “Those two have something planned this weekend?” he chuckled.
“I may not get out much, but I know an indecent proposal when I see one.”
The man outside noticed he was being watched as both Sue and Jack glanced outside again. Jack gave him a small wave.
“Friend of yours?” She asked hesitantly.
“Co worker, who I happen to know is happily involved.” He confessed.
“Yeah, I guess so. He’s taking her to Miami!” Now Sue got eager too.
“Only that’s not who he’s involved with.” He chuckled.
“Oh..” she said a little embarrassed.
“You’re good. He just asked for Friday off. He said he was going out of town.”
Is she dating him? Is that the man she received the email from? Is he the man that captured her heart? Go away .. Sue, no don’t .. pleaseeee! voicing the end of his trail of thoughts.
Seeing Sue kissing her date, Jack placed his hands against the window, almost begging her to stop. He felt his heart shattering into millions of pieces. A single tear rolled down his cheek and in slow motion he wiped it away with his sleeve. That could’ve been me, if only I wasn’t so afraid to act on my feelings.
Why can’t I just ask her out the way I did many times before with other girls. What was it about this woman? What made her so different from all the others?
Suddenly it became clear to him. He was in love with her and it was time to stop stalling and just follow his heart.

Kissing Sue was something that never strayed far from his mind. All those long hours together, working closely in the bullpen or sitting in the car waiting for a suspect to appear, the temptation was always strong. He’d only given in to the desire once and even now, his lips tingled as he coaxed the memory to mind.
They peered into the outer office, both realizing that there was no time for them to make it out before she caught them. Jack backed away from the door, bringing Sue along with a hand to her elbow. She turned to face him as he halted his steps, her eyes gazing up at him in a mixture of uncertainty and yet also a complete trust.
“Sue, I…” His explanation died as she seemed to read his mind, meeting him halfway as he encircled her waist and turned her to lean against the desk. Lightly running his fingers down her cheek, he met her gaze and inhaled shakily. His touch trembled as he grazed her jaw with his fingers before returning his hand to her waist and lowering his head.
His fingers rested just under her elbow as she framed his face with a hypnotic touch. Their lips moved together in a passionate rhythm, each of them getting lost in the sensations that the kiss was fanning to life. The cover faded and their hearts surfaced, their embrace natural and instinctive. Caught up in the moment, Jack let his tongue slide along her lips and absorbed her shiver as Sue gasped against his mouth. Her hand went to his hair, gripping at his temple almost frantically for the briefest of moments before sliding back to cradle his jaw. He drew her closer into the embrace, cupping her elbow and drawing his hand intimately along her side to rest at her shoulder.
As he deepened the kiss, she slid her hand down to lay against his chest, and he wondered if she could feel how violently his heart was pounding. Sliding his hand to her neck, he let his fingers drift along her jaw and toy with her ear, amazed at how easily he had forgotten why they were even here. This kiss left any of his fantasies in the dust, and he knew it would be a long time before he recovered from it.
He shook his head to get the wayward thoughts out and strolled towards the elevator; pushing the button he waited for it to arrive. Why? Why did she leave me? Didn’t she have any clue that my feelings for her were more than just a friendship. Of course she didn’t. It’s not like I really told her how I felt. If only Myles didn’t show up then, maybe I would’ve been honest with her for once. As the doors slid open he stepped into the elevator and let his mind drift off to the day he almost lost her.
Before you say anything… can I just tell you what it is that I was planning to tell you?”
“Okay.”
“I was up all night thinking about it and I didn’t want you to go without you at least knowing what it was I was thinking. I understand that this is a great, great opportunity and I would never wanna stand in the way of your career advancement. But I want you to know that ... I wished you weren’t going. We’re all gonna miss ya ... as a team. And I’m gonna miss ya, personally a lot. I just want you to know that.
He raised his hands in the air, like he was praising the Lord. “Why God, Why?” He cried out loud . Bystanders were looking at him as if he was going crazy.
Stopping at the men’s room he splashed some cold water in his face. There must be something that I can do to win her back. I wonder what she sees in that guy. What does he have that I don’t? Checking his features in the mirror, suddenly an idea came to him. Rubbing his hands together he went straight to his office; smirking at what he was about to do.
Slowly Jack entered the Bullpen. Not seeing anybody around he crept towards Sue’s desk. Glancing at the clock to see how much time there was left for him without a huge risk of being caught, he started her computer.
“AHUM”. Someone cleared their throat. The female voice startling him. “And what do ya think you’re doing?”
A special thanks to the writer that let me borrow her scene. You know who you are ...

“Who me?” Jack shoved his hands in his pockets “Nothing.”
Tara walked over to the desk. “Then tell me how come Sue’s computer is on, because it was off when we left.” Knowing all too well what Jack was looking for on the computer she asked for the obvious. “Were you snooping around?”
“I uhm .. I was just ...” He couldn’t think of something to say and started fiddling with a paperclip he had just found on the desk.
“Oh, brother!” Tara opened Outlook Express on Sue’s computer. “Is this what you were looking for?”
“Yes, I mean no...” Tara made a move to shut down the screen “Yes!” Jack stammered.
“What is it a yes or no? I’m getting a little confused here.”
Glancing at the clock, he became nervous. Lunchtime was almost over. “Can you see who the email is from?”
“Of course I can, my name is Tara! Computer genius Tara, remember?” Double clicking on the mail she pointed at the screen. “His name is Brian.”
“Brian? As in Brian Walker?” He was shocked as she nodded.
Brian was a ladies man, a big flirt. And to top off, he’s considered good looking. Many women describe him as the wink man. One wink from him and you’re a puddle on the floor.
A long-term relationship wasn‘t a word that would fit in his vocabulary. No female was safe from his charms. “Didn’t you know that he uses his wink as some sort of spell? If Brian gives you a wink, you sure can’t think!” Jack said as he was pacing the room. “At least that’s what all the ladies say.”
He isn’t the only one who has a wink like that! Tara raised her eyebrow. “You know that guy?”
“He goes to the same bars I do. When it comes to women, Brian has a bad reputation. He’s broken a lot of hearts already and doesn’t seem to care. When I saw him with Sue at lunch I thought I recognized him. I just couldn’t quite put my finger on it.”
“You were spying on them?” She gaped and gave Jack a disapproving look.
“NO!” He claimed. “Well not really. I wanted to talk to Sue but she disappeared out of my sight. When I found her again she was sitting on the terrace talking to Mister Heartbreaker!”
“I see. So now can you please tell me why you were breaking into her computer?” Tara’s nosiness was getting the better of her.
“Later...” Jack said as he heard footsteps in the hallway and walked towards the file cabinet.
Shutting down the computer as fast as she could Tara ran back to her own desk and plopped into her chair.
