Okay well this idea just popped into my head I was going to go straight in and start posting my sequel to 'operation matrimony' but here I am instead with this.

This hopefully will fall in to the short story section.



Part 1

Muffy Wigglesworth was sitting in her burrow when the mail arrived early one morning. Her bright eyes lit up and she padded over to read it, her rich brown coat shining in the candle light of her underground home.

“Oh I’ve been summoned” she squeaked, “An Easter assignment and it says I was recommended for the job. This is so wonderful I like project which involves love they’re the best ones ever” she continued talking to herself. “Washington DC, that’s miles and miles away. I better start packing right now if I’m to get there in time to help these two poor people find true love”

She continued to chatter to herself as she gathered her belongings and all the paraphernalia she would need for her latest mission. She called down the burrow to her brother who lived next door and asked him to book her a flight for immediate departure to Washington via the swan who although was not fast, was a safer means of transport than the bald eagle, who if hungry might well eat her before she arrived at her destination.

Oh this one sounds so cute!

Part 2

Muffy was a trifle intimidated by the large capital city, of course she had been to cities before but this was special. She scampered along the street pleased that she was invisible to the human eye, when suddenly her cell phone rang.

“Hello Muffy Wigglesworth the Easter Bunny at your service…Oh Hello Snuffles….No I can handle this mission perfectly well by myself…just take care of everything won’t you there’s a dear….. I love you too, bye” she hung up and sighed Snuffles was her best friend in the whole world and she loved him dearly.

The Hoover building was vast but Muffy had her directions and followed them with precision, slipping into the crowded elevator, narrowly missing catching her fluffy tail in the closing doors.

Walking up to the bullpen she found it fairly serene, every member of the team, on whom she had been briefed on were sitting at their desks absorbed in their work, at least that was her initial impression. Levi eyed her suspiciously but chose to ignore her, she wasn’t quite like any other rabbits he had seen before, with a pretty pink bow on top of her head and a purse over one paw.

On closer inspection it wasn’t how it first appeared to be, the woman called Tara sneaked little looks of interest at Bobby and Bobby, returned them in the same manner, even to Muffy the exchange was quite subtle. The way that Jack looked at Sue and visa versa was not, and not only that, the expressions in their eyes were totally different, this was most definitely love. Lucy Dotson spent most of her time observing Sue and Jack, and Myles although appeared indifferent to the love buzzing around him was secretly as interested as Lucy as to how it would pan out for Jack and Sue. Muffy, looked round thoughtfully putting a plan together in her head, one she knew was fail-safe.

I found this but it doesn't quite do Muffy justice

Phew, at least he didn't mistake her for his toy bunny! I don't think Muffy would like slober all over her coat! And the Easter Bunny has a cell phone?! Oy , times have changed since I was a kid!!!!

Rosa this story is just to cute. I love Muffy Wigglesworth as her name and although I guessed her to be a rabbit, I didn't think of the Easter Bunny. Go figure, Spring/Easter. I feel like I'm following Kav around and catching the same things but after her, but I must add, I loved the cell phone. To funny and I pictured Levi thinking of his bunny and thought for Muffy.

Part 3

Spring was in the air and Easter was just around the corner, it was a very special time of year for Muffy. A time when new life begins with baby lambs, fluffy chicks and baby rabbits, the flowers starting to bloom and leaves break out on the trees, hiding the bleakness of winter. Muffy rejoiced in Spring when she was no longer cooped up in the burrow, Spring meant assignments and Easter eggs which signified new life.

After observing Jack and Sue, Muffy went to the ‘Burrow in the park’ where she had been advised to stay, it was not five star accommodation but it was clean and Muffy didn’t plan to be spending much time in her burrow anyway.

Muffy discovered that Jack Hudson needed no Easter magic to think about Sue Thomas, it was ingrained in his very being. Saturday night she accompanied him and Bobby to a bar where they spent a lot of time playing pool and Jack lost badly due to his mind wandering to a certain blonde woman who held his heart.

‘Time for intervention’ thought Muffy, putting part one of the plan in place.

“Hey Jack, you okay mate?” asked Bobby, noticing Jack was not playing at his usual standard that night

“Yeah I’m good”

“You need to talk, I’m here” offered Bobby wondering to himself where that line had come from, he had been meaning to suggest they went on to a club.

“Well” said Jack “Actually I think I do, need to talk”

“Spill”

Jack sighed and ran a hand through his hair, took a deep breath and said, “Do you ever think that you might be missing out on something because you are too afraid of the consequences to take action?”

“Jack, it’s late to be asking a big question like that. But…you are obviously referring to something specific”

“Yes” he replied and almost to himself added, “Shall I tell her?”

“Tell her what? And who is 'she' for that matter?”

“I go through every day with the one person I care about and I never tell her”

“Oh you’re talking about Sue, why didn’t you just say?”

“Am I that obvious?”

Bobby thought about this for a while and replied “Yes, but she is just as obvious as you and one of you has to say something, otherwise Lucy might humanly combust”

“What has Lucy got to do with it? Never mind I don’t think I want to know” he replied with a shake of his head.

“My advice is what you’re asking right?” said Bobby waiting until Jack nodded in assent “Is tell her and as for the bureau, if it’s meant to be than it will work out in your favour, but hiding behind the rules of your job is the cowards way out Sparky”

‘Good’ Muffy thought ‘That went well’

“It’s as though you are with me physically but your mind is elsewhere” said and signed Lucy to Sue as they sat talking and drinking hot chocolate.

“I’m thinking” she told her best friend

“I can see that. What, talk it might help?”

She sighed and replied “Jack, you know when I said I was staying I was sure he was going to say something more but Myles came along and…”

“Broke the moment?” suggested Lucy

“Something like that, that was last year and nothing has changed”

“You want it to change girl you have to do something about it”

“You’re right I do” Sue said

Muffy watched from the corner of the room, things were moving at just the right speed.

plane is in motion !!!!!!

Just a snippet today

Part 4

Sunday morning and Sue sat in church not knowing that Muffy was by her side. Notices were given out that they were still lacking someone to organise the children’s Easter egg hunt. This dilemma stayed with Sue throughout the service she knew that if she asked, Lucy would help her out and so offered her services.

Muffy twitched her little nose continuously, the flaw with the plan Sue had formed was that the helper could not be Lucy, it had to be Jack and it was up to her to turn the situation about. She scampered off suddenly busy, the Easter egg hunt was three days away.

Part 5

As Lucy had been out all day Sunday and didn’t get back until Sue was in bed, Sue did not get the opportunity to ask her friend about the Egg hunt for the children. However that morning in the bullpen, she was doodling Easter eggs on a jotter when suddenly she remembered.

“Lucy” she said to her friend

“Yes” she replied looking at Sue

“I need to ask you a favour”

“Oh no! I know that look Sue”

“What look is that?” asked Bobby

“The kind of look that says she has already said I’d do something”

Sue shrugged and replied, “You know me well”

“I ought to” Lucy said with a smile “Well out with it then? What have you signed me up to do this time?”

“Help me with the Easter egg hunt Wednesday after work in the yard at church”

Lucy looked regretful and said whilst signing “But I can’t. Sunday afternoon my Grandmother asked me to take her to visit a friend in hospital, I’ve promised her, I can’t let her down”

“No” said Sue with a regretful sigh “You can’t do that. I’ll have to do it alone”

“How many eggs to you have to hide?” asked Jack quirking his eyebrow up.

“One hundred, maybe if I leave here early I’ll get it done before the kids are due to go home”

Jack bit his lip, hesitating for a second. Tara was about to offer her services, but Muffy seeing this knocked Tara’s pen pot over and causing Tara to lose her train of thought.

“I…I could help, if you wanted me to” Jack offered, shrugging nonchalantly

“You mean it?” asked Sue “You know the kids will be excited and boisterous?”

“I deal with difficult situations every day here I sure can cope with a few noisy kids” he assured her “It’ll be fine, I promise”

“Well okay, thank you” she replied, smiling inside at the thought of spending some time with Jack alone, well alone with up to 40 kids.

Muffy twitched her little nose with joy, her plans usually never failed and so far this one was running like clockwork.

Thank you Muffy for keeping Tara from offering her help.

Now Jack had a chance to help and thank goodness he offered his help

Muffy, you're good at distraction!! Jack, you're going to have fun, and so will Sue!!!

Part 6

Wednesday afternoon came round quickly and Jack and Sue left work a little early to set up the Easter Egg hunt. It took the pair of them longer than anticipated to hide them all and just as they were done the first children began to arrive. Muffy looked up to the sky, it was clouding over she just hoped the rain would hold off long enough for the children to have fun egg hunting after that the chance of rain didn’t really matter.

As Sue predicted the children were energized and rowdy and Jack felt amazingly exhausted and it wasn’t over yet.

A small girl came up to him and said “Excuse me mister, I can’t find no eggs I think they’ve all gone”

“Well” said Jack looking down a the pigtailed child before him “Let me help you”

“Really?” she asked her bright blue eyes shining with hope and she reached up and trustingly took his hand.

Jack knowing where they had hidden them said “What about on the bird table?”

“I can’t see up there I’m little” she said craning her neck to get a better look.

Jack lifted her up and there on the bird table laid an egg, wrapped in gold foil. The girl turned beaming at him “Thanks” she said, when he set her on the ground she waved and then ran off happy with her find.

Jack stood there with a goofy grin on his face, this Easter egg thing had given him an idea, a very good idea of how he could get across the difficulty he had of telling Sue he loved her.

As Jack and Sue saw the last of the children leave with their parents the first drops of rain started to fall, Sue eyed the sky before hurriedly tidying up the mess that had been left by the festivities. Jack put a hand on her arm and said, “We should get out of the rain it’s going to pour”

“My job includes leaving the place tidy” she replied pulling away and continuing with her task as bigger fatter drops fell.

Jack paused momentarily and with a shrug went to help her.

Muffy smiled as she stood dry under her umbrella, knowing that the heavens were going to open, just what she had ordered.

HUDSON its now or never !!!

muffy i think your "order" just arrived!! they are going to be soaked !!!! BUT

well they could warm up next to a warm fire place when they are done or cuddle

p.s. they can wrestle or have a fun mud fight !!!

What's Muffy up to now? Why did she order that much rain? Oh, I get it! They'll have to hurry to the closest home to dry of, and while waiting for the clothes to dry, they cuddle up in front of the fireplace, just as suejack05 suggested!!!

They were soaked by the time they finished, the water dripped down their faces and Sue had trouble reading what Jack was saying, instead he pulled her so that they stood in an alcove and watched as the rain poured from the sky seemingly never ending. Both were acutely aware of the other, Sue was sure he could hear her heart racing and Jack thrust his hand into his pockets for fear of them straying to the woman he adored beside him. Levi looked up at them, his golden coat sodden.

Sue wished her coat wasn’t still in the car, the temperature had dropped and she shivered somewhat trying not to make it obvious that she was cold. She gasped slightly as she felt a pair of arms wrap around her and she looked up into Jack’s face.

“You’re cold,” he stated, “You should have said something”

“I’m okay” she murmured heart pounding at the close proximity of their bodies, but snuggled into to the warmth he offered just the same.

She could stay like this in Jack’s arms forever but she knew that when the rain stopped the moment would end. He drew patterns on her back; Sue could feel his fingers as if he was caressing her skin to skin instead of through her shirt.

Jack tried to distance himself from the situation but it wasn’t working as well as he hoped, her scent filled his nostrils and it took all his self-restraint not to kiss her. He shut his eyes and held her close until he heard the patter of the raindrops cease.

Muffy still dry under her umbrella watched and knew it wouldn’t be long before her task would be over, just a few more days. Her cell phone rang and she reached to answer it as she watched the couple make a dash for Jack’s car and whilst talking to Snuffles she hopped onto the back of the car as Jack pulled away.

When they reached Sue’s apartment she said “Coffee? It’s the least I can do under the circumstances, don’t want to be responsible for you catching a chill”

“Coffee would be good” he replied with a smile

Jack rubbed his hair dry with the towel that Sue had provided for him and changed into the running gear he always kept in his car before leaving the warm bathroom, he found Sue in the kitchen changed, her wet hair framing her face, whilst pouring coffee for them both.

They sat on the sofa in a pleasant but slightly awkward atmosphere.

“Thank you for helping, I would still be there if I had been alone” Sue told him

“You’re welcome” he replied wishing he could think of some witty response when all he wanted to do was get lost in her eyes.

“Your coffee” she yelped as she watched it slosh over the rim of the mug onto the fabric of the sofa.

“Sorry” Jack signed as Sue rushed to get two cloths, he shook his head cross with himself with getting distracted and helped her to clear up the mess.

Their hands accidentally brushed together and Sue gulped from the contact, which sent her stomach fizzing like bubbles as Jack had a sudden intake of breath. Not fully aware of his next move he leant forward and brushed his lips across hers, he felt her gasp and took the opportunity to deepen the kiss and explore her mouth further, she opened up to him as her hands curled round his neck and the damp cloths fell to the floor, forgotten. The only thing they could focus on was each other and the feelings the kiss provoked and cemented in their hearts. They became lost in the moment and only pulled apart for some much-needed air, which also made them aware of what had just occurred between them.

Catching her eye he said “I…………….I’m sorry about the coffee………… look…. I……… better go” he stood collected his belongings and made for the door, when he reached it he turned to find her close behind him and without knowing the reason why he blurted out “Easter is this weekend……………… I wondered if you were free Saturday afternoon, I have something I would like to share with you”

“What time?” she asked curious to know what this was about and after the kiss they had just shared wanted to be with him more than ever.

“I’ll pick you up at two….Levi might have to stay behind, sorry buddy” he said looking at the dog who regarded him with sorrowful eyes

“Okay,….well I’ll see you at work tomorrow then?” she said awkwardly

“Yeah tomorrow” he said, resisting the urge to reach out and kiss her again, instead he left.

Muffy twitched her nose, this was going better than even she imagined, checking her watch she had time to go back to the hotel and freshen up before dinner, when she would order the salad special.

they kissed finallly!!!!
