tis*me!

Okay, this is the first fanfic I've ever written. I've been on here for a while, just looking. At first, I just came on here to check on information about what I could do to help save my favorite show and to check on any news of a possible return. In the last few months, I've been reading quite a few of the wonderful fanfics on the site. Initially, I never had any intention of ever trying to write a fanfic; I was content with just reading. However, I had an idea for a story and realized that it would fit in well with one of the Challenge options -- Spring Cleaning. So, I figured I'd go ahead and take the plunge. Keep in mind, I do not consider myself a writer; I'm more of a reader. I haven't really done much writing except when I had to -- when I was in school many years ago. I just had this idea for a story and felt like I should go ahead and write it and see where it leads. Though I love all the characters on the show, I'm a huge Sue and Jack fan, so this will definitely be a Jack/Sue story (though the other characters will make appearances)! I wanted to wait to start posting the story until after I had completely finished writing it, but I figured if I did that, I might chicken out and never post it. So, I decided I'd go ahead and start posting it now. Plus, then I'll have more incentive to finish writing it, assuming, y'all like it! I hope y'all enjoy reading it, at least as much as I've enjoyed writing it so far!

So, here it goes... (she says, a little nervously)

Spring Cleaning

Chapter 1:

Arms crossed and in deep thought, she stood silently in the bedroom, surrounded by numerous stacks of boxes, a little overwhelmed by the task she was about to tackle. She let out a small sigh.

"At least I don't have to tackle it alone!" she thought.

She was slightly startled by a gentle tap on the shoulder. She slowly turned around, a smile enveloping her face, as she came face-to-face with her best friend and husband, who was being followed closely by their golden retriever, Levi.

Sue hugged Jack and placed a gentle kiss upon his lips, before leaning down to pet Levi's head.

Taking a slight step backwards, Jack stood at attention and said, "Good morning, Mrs. Hudson! Jack Hudson reporting for duty! Ready for Operation Spring Cleaning!" he stated as he playfully saluted her. "I just finished walking Levi, so he should be good for a while."

"You know, I never will tire of the "sound" of that!" Sue exclaimed, a dreamy smile upon her face.

"The "sound" of what?" Jack asked with a slightly raised eyebrow, as he signed. "I thought you couldn't hear the sound of anything? Is there something you forgot to tell me?" he playfully teased her, a wide smile upon his face.

"Oh you!..." she sighed, as she rolled her eyes and playfully hit him on the arm. "You know what I meant...I will never grow tired of seeing people say that (especially you)...is that better?" She continued "and to answer your question of what, Mrs. Hudson...Mrs. Jack Hudson...Sue Hudson...any and/or all of the above." she said as she glanced at the beautiful rings on her left ring finger and then glanced over at her husband with a huge grin and a wink of the eye.

"Me either!" said Jack, returning a huge grin, as well as a wink.

His smile and a wink of his eye, not to mention just his eyes, in general, could still cause her to go weak in the knees and send butterflies fluttering in her stomach.

Hi! From one J/S fan to another: welcome!

Glad you're posting and hope you have great fun with writing and R and R. Chapter 1 is off to a nice warm start ... if the others are just as good, count me in for the ride (as long as it's not bumpy).

Hey tis*me, welcome here! I know exactly what you mean about writing...I've tried myself a few times, but unlike you I never wrote more than the first chapter....... I'm much happier just reading and enjoying the fanfics that are written by others.

You're of to a nice start. Jack and Sue are married, but my guess is, they're still newly weds right? It's so cute to refer to Levi as their dog - I guess he's always been that since Sue joined the FBI!

Welcome and thanks for taking the plunge. I have an idea that spring cleaning will not be a drudgery for these two.

Chapter 2:

Jack and Sue started trying to devise a plan for their Spring Cleaning.

"We need to get all these boxes out of here before we can start painting and decorating the room." Sue said. "There sure is a lot to be done! We may be able to put some of these out in the garage, but remember, we have to go through all the boxes and make sure we don't put any photographs or any momentos, that might get damp and ruined, out there. I think we should make a pile over here" she pointed to a spot on the floor "of things we want to get rid of -- to donate to the church or the Salvation Army. I'll go get some trash bags and the shredder, in case there's any confidential information we want to shred."

"Actually, I'll go get the trash bags and the shredder." Jack volunteered. "Why don't you sit down for a while and start going through that box labeled "Wedding Stuff"? And remember, don't you dare try to lift anything heavy while I'm gone!" Jack gently scolded.

Sue rolled her eyes at him in mock annoyance, but she couldn't help but love him even more for his concern. As Jack was walking out of the room, Levi in tow, Sue reached into the box and pulled out the wedding album and sat down. A huge smile came across her face and her eyes twinkled as she opened the album and began to reminisce about one of the most beautiful days of her life! The day she became Mrs. Jack Hudson...
Ivory
I can just picture her smile as she begins to reminisce about her wedding day.

Chapter 3:

They were married in December -- over a year ago. She had always dreamed of a Christmas wedding, ever since she was a little girl. Her dream came true; though it was more beautiful and amazing than she could have ever imagined!

Outside the church looked like a winter wonderland -- a fresh blanket of snow had fallen. It was an evening wedding, so luminaries lined the driveway to the church and the trees that surrounded the church were lit with clear Christmas lights. On the outside doors of the church, there hung two beautiful wreaths with red bows.

The sanctuary was filled with red and white poinsettias. There was a Christmas tree to the side of the altar and underneath the tree was a nativity. The back of each pew was adorned with evergreen swags and red bows. A red aisle runner stretched across the center aisle of the church, leading to the altar.

The wedding was a family affair, consisting of their actual families and their FBI family. Even all three of Sue's older brothers, Billy, Paul, and Bobby, were there, along with their wives and children. Lucy, of course, was Sue's maid of honor; Tara and Amanda were bridesmaids. Sue's niece, Anna, was flower girl. Bobby, of course, was Jack's best man; Myles and D were groomsmen. Sue's nephews, Daniel and Joshua, were ring bearer and Bible bearer.

The guys wore black tuxes with red vests and red bowties. The bridesmaids and flower girl wore dresses that were long-sleeved with black velvet bodices and red satin skirts. Everyone agreed they were gorgeous!

Then, there was Sue's dress -- it was appropriately white. Lucy, Tara, Amanda, and Sue's Mom had all gone with Sue to pick out the dress, and they knew as soon as Sue tried it on that it was made especially for her! It had long sheer sleeves, a sweetheart neckline, a matte satin bodice, and a tulle skirt with a detachable royal cathedral train. Sue felt like a princess in it, and everyone (especially Jack) agreed that she certainly looked like one! When he first saw Sue in it, walking towards him down the aisle (escorted by her father and followed, of course, by Levi, who ensured Sue did not trip on her train), she took his breath away! She wore her hair down, just like Jack liked, and around her neck she wore a strand of pearls with her "True Love Waits" ring hanging from it.

Charlie read 1 Corinthians 13, while Troy signed it. Lucy sang Matthew West's song, "The Day Before You", as Sue and Jack took turns signing the words to each other, tears streaming down their faces. Jack had practiced for months to make sure he signed it perfectly for her. Their pastor performed the ceremony using traditional vows. Both Sue and Jack both spoke and signed their vows. Their favorite part of the ceremony was when their pastor finally pronounced them husband and wife! And, of course, Jack didn't need any special prodding to kiss his new bride!

The ceremony was absolutely beautiful and went off without a hitch, even with kids and a dog included. Now, THAT, in and of itself, was truly a miracle!

I must say I am now curious about the Matthew West song...

Sorry, AlaskanFan, I would have liked to have written the lyrics in the post, but couldn't find a way to naturally do so.

If anyone is interested, here are the lyrics...
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
THE DAY BEFORE YOU by Matthew West
I had all but given up on finding the one
That I could fall into
On the day before you
I was ready to settle for less than love
And not much more
There was no such thing as a dream come true
But that was on the day before you
Chorus~
Now you're here
And everything's changing
Suddenly life means so much
I can't wait to wake up tomorrow
And find out this promise is true
I will never have to go back to the day before you
In your eyes I see forever
And it makes me wish that my life never knew
The day before you
Oh, but heaven knows those years without you
Were shaping my heart for the day that I found you
And if you're the reason for all I've been through
Then I'm thankful for the day before you
It was the last day that I ever lived alone
And I'm never going back
No, I'm never going back
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Apparently, Rascal Flatts also recorded it, but Matthew West wrote it for his wife for their wedding. It's on Matthew West's History album.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Chapter 4:
The wedding reception was a MAJOR celebration! Everyone was just so happy that they were FINALLY together!
"Took long enough for them to finally admit what everyone else knew for 3 years!" was a common refrain.
Even Randy, yes Randy, could see that they were meant for each other! He tried to take credit for them finally admitting their feelings to one another!
"Well, if I hadn't asked for Miss Thomas's help with my date with Hannah, they may never have gotten together." he reasoned.
All Lucy could do was roll her eyes in response.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

The reception hall had a beautifully decorated and lit Christmas tree standing in it, under which guests had placed their wedding gifts to the couple.

Prior to dinner, both Bobby and Lucy made beautiful, heartfelt toasts, that brought tears to both Sue's and Jack's eyes.

As Jack and Sue took to the dance floor, they danced their First Dance to the song "When God Made You" by Newsong and Natalie Grant. It was a perfect reflection of their love and their gratitude to God for bringing them together.

"It's always been a mystery to me
How two hearts can come together
And love can last forever
But now that I have found you, I believe
That a miracle has come
When God sends the perfect one
Now gone are all my questions about why
And I've never been so sure of anything in my life

Oh, I wonder what God was thinking
When He created you
I wonder if He knew everything I would need
Because He made all my dreams come true
When God made you
He must've been thinking about me

I promise that wherever you may go
Wherever life may lead you
With all my heart, I'll be there too
And from this moment on, I want you to know
I'll let nothing come between us
And I will love the ones you love
Now gone are all my questions about why...about why
And I've never been so sure of anything in my life

I wonder what God was thinking
When He created you
I wonder if He knew everything I would need
Because He made all my dreams come true
When God made you
He must've been thinking about me

He made the sun, He made the moon
To harmonize in perfect tune
One can't do without the other
They just have to be together
And that is why, I know it's true
You're for me, and I'm for you
'Cause my world just can't be right
(Can't be right)
Without you in my life

I wonder what God was thinking
When He created you
I wonder if He knew everything I would need
Because He made all my dreams come true

He must've heard every prayer I've been praying...I've been praying
Yes, He knew everything I would need
When God made you
I thank God He made you
(Yes He did, yes He did)
When dreams come true
(You are my love, my love)
When God made you
He must've been thinking about me"

Though Sue couldn't hear, music was an integral part of their wedding ceremony and their reception. She had specifically chosen the songs for their meaningful lyrics, and Jack had reassured her that the music that went with the meaningful lyrics was beautiful as well and would be enjoyed by all.

As Sue and her father danced the Father/Daughter dance to Bob Carlisle's "Butterfly Kisses", Sue's father rejoiced in the fact that he wasn't actually losing his daughter, but gaining a son. He truly believed Jack was "the one" for his "little girl". Jack had even asked for his permission, before proposing to Sue, which had truly touched Mr. Thomas. Jack had admitted to Sue's father that one reason it had taken so long to admit his true feelings to Sue was that he didn't feel he was worthy of her. He had made some mistakes in his past that he regretted. He knew Sue was a woman of strong morals and convictions, a devout Christian. That was the thing Jack loved most about Sue. Jack was a Christian, as well, but through the years he hadn't been as devoted as he should have been, and he regretted that. Sue changed all that, though, and their's would be a marriage that was "equally yoked". As the song concluded, Mr. Thomas realized that a few tears had managed to escape from his eyes and had slowly rolled down his cheeks. Reaching to wipe away the tears from his cheeks, his heart bursting with pride, he marveled at this strong, beautiful, intelligent, compassionate, amazing woman that his "little girl" had become. Sue leaned in, gently placing a kiss upon her father's cheek and whispered "I love you, Daddy!"

As Jack danced with his mother, she told him how much she had come to love Sue. She already felt like she was her daughter. She admitted how glad she was that Jack had had sense enough to choose Sue, not Allie. His mother even apologized to Jack for having tried to push that relationship. She felt guilty when she realized that had it not been for Allie showing up after his heart attack, Jack and Sue might have ended up together sooner. Jack reassured his mother that there was nothing to apologize for and that the important thing was that they were finally together!

Later, Jack and Sue danced to Amy Grant's "Looking For You". They both agreed that the words fit their relationship perfectly.

"I've waited so long now
I've wanted forever to hold you
Now you're in my arms, and I'll never let you go
Whatever you do, you know
I'll be standing here beside you baby
Just like a bird that's found it's way back home
I finally found a place where I belong

I've been looking for you since I took my first breath
And I'll be loving you baby till I take my last
I'd like to know
Baby, what would I do without you in my life?
What would I do?
From the moment I saw you, I knew
I was looking for you

Can I wake up now?
Can I believe what I'm feeling?
Can I be sure I wasn't dreaming at all?
Baby, it's true, you do
Something supernatural to me
Each night I pray to God that you'll be blessed
I need you so much baby, I confess

I've been looking for you since I took my first breath
And I'll be loving you baby, till I take my last
I'd like to know
Baby, what would I do without you in my life?
What would I do?
All along I was waiting for you
From the moment I saw you, I knew
It had to be you

So the story goes
Together ever after
Another dream came true
And maybe when you least expect it, love will come to you

I'd like to know
Baby, what would I do without you in my life?
Baby, what would I do?
All along I was waiting for you
Baby, what would I do?
From the moment I saw you, I knew
From the moment I saw you
It had to be you

Sweet love came into my life
I was looking for you
I was thinking about you
Sweet love came into my life
I was looking for, looking for you
I was thinking about you
Sweet love came into my life
I was looking for you
I was thinking about you
Sweet love came into my life
All along I was looking for you
Sweet love came into my life, into my life
I was thinking about you
Sweet love came into my life, into my life
I was thinking about you
Sweet love came into my life, into my life
I was thinking about you
Sweet love came into my life
From the moment I saw you, I knew
Sweet love came into my life, into my life
I was looking for you
I was thinking about you
Sweet love came into my life
I was looking for you
I was thinking about you
Sweet love came into my life, into my life
I was thinking about you..."

One of Sue's and Jack's favorite moments of the wedding reception was when Jack danced with Sue's niece, Anna, and Sue danced with both her nephews, Daniel and Joshua, to Lee Ann Womack's "I Hope You Dance". It gave them a glimpse into their future -- Sue knew Jack would make a wonderful father one day, and Jack knew Sue was meant to be a mother! They could just imagine each other with their own children one day, and they both just beamed!

Tara, with the help of Sue's and Jack's mothers, had created a wedding slide show, set to Bebo Norman's "A Page Is Turned". As the words of the song played, pictures of Jack as a young boy, then Sue as a young girl flashed upon the screen, followed by pictures of them together.

"A page is turned by the wind to a boy in curly grin
With a world to conquer at the age of ten
But as history unfolds and the storybook is told
He finds salvation but not at the hands of man

And the God of second chance
Picked him up and He let him dance
Through a world that is not kind
And all this time, preparing him the one
To hold him up when he comes undone
Beneath the storm, beneath the sun
And now a man, here you stand
Your day has come

A page is turned in this world to reveal a little girl
With a heart that's bigger, as it is unfurled
By the language in her soul, that's teaching her to grow
With a careful cover of love that will not fail

And the God of second chance
Picked her up and He let her dance
Through a world that is not kind
And all this time, preparing her the one
To hold her up when she comes undone
Beneath the storm, beneath the sun
And grown up tall, here you are
Your day has come

Beneath the air of autumn, she took him by his hand
And warm within the ardor, she took his heart instead
And high upon the mountain, he asked her for her hand
Just for her hand

A page is turned in this life, he's making her his wife
And there is no secret to the source of this much life
When the grace that falls like rain is washing them again
Just a chance to somehow rise above this land

Where the God of second chance
Will pick them up and he'll let them dance
Through a world that is not kind
And all this time, they're sharing with the one
That holds them up when they come undone
Beneath the storm, beneath the sun
And once again, here you stand
I said once again, here you stand
Your day has come"

Practically everyone in the reception hall teared up at the slide show.

Bobby made a return appearance as Elvis to serenade the bride and groom with "Blue Hawaii". It was, after all, apparently played at their "first wedding". Besides, they were going to Hawaii for their honeymoon, so it was quite fitting!

The wedding cake was beautiful -- it had several tiers and was decorated with cascading sprigs of holly leaves and berries, carefully crafted from icing. As Sue and Jack were cutting the wedding cake, there was almost a mishap involving an overly exuberant Levi and the cake, but they managed to avoid a catastrophe, with the wedding cake intact. However, the photographer did manage to snap a priceless picture of Levi with his nose covered in icing!

Sue threw her bouquet, making sure that Lucy caught it; though an overly eager and perky Tara came dangerously close to tackling Lucy for it. And she might have caught it too, if she hadn't tripped on her own feet! Bobby caught the garter and glanced Lucy's way, giving her an adorable dimpled grin and a flirtatious wink.

Jack and Sue danced their Last Dance to Steven Curtis Chapman's "I Will Be Here", as Jack gazed lovingly into Sue's eyes and mouthed the words to her.

"Tomorrow morning, if you wake up
And the sun does not appear
I, I will be here
If in the dark, we lose sight of love
Hold my hand, and have no fear
'Cause I, I will be here

I will be here
When you feel like being quiet
When you need to speak your mind
I will listen
And I will be here
When the laughter turns to cryin'
Through the winning, losing, and trying
We'll be together
'Cause I will be here

Tomorrow morning, if you wake up
And the future is unclear
I, I will be here
As sure as seasons are made for change
Our lifetimes are made for years
So, I, I will be here

I will be here
And you can cry on my shoulder
When the mirror tells us we're older
I will hold you
And I will be here
To watch you grow in beauty
And tell you all the things you are to me
I will be here

I will be true to the promise I have made
To you and to the One who gave you to me

I, I will be here
And just as sure as seasons are made for change
Our lifetimes are made for years
So, I, I, I will be here
We'll be together
I will be here"

As the bride and groom made their grand exit, they blissfully entered their limo, as guests threw artificial snow at them, in lieu of birdseed or bubbles. They were off to their honeymoon in Hawaii to start their new life together as Mr. and Mrs. Jack Hudson.

Chapter 5:

Jack just stood there, staring at his beautiful wife, who seemed to be lost in her own little world, looking at their wedding album. At times, he still found it so hard to believe that it was really true...she was HIS WIFE! He waited so long to finally admit to her that he was head over heels in love with her, had been for so long. As he stood there looking at her, a few lines from the Amy Grant song "That's What Love Is For" played through his head.

"Sometimes I see you
And you don't know I am there
And I'm washed away by emotions
I hold deep down inside
Getting stronger with time"

The exact same words had played through his mind many times through the years, just prior to Levi catching Sue's attention. Only now, he didn't hold those emotions in; he told Sue every chance he got how much he loved her. He felt so blessed. He silently thanked God for the many blessings in his life -- his wife, their dog, their family, friends, and co-workers, their house, their jobs, and then there was...

Some of the next few chapters contain references to events that occurred in the episode "Endings & Beginnings", to which, of course, all credit goes to the Johnson brothers. Interspersed with these references is my take on what happened during and/or after these events.

Chapter 6:

Levi placed his paw on Sue's knee, alerting her to his and Jack's return. Sue looked up at Jack with a smile upon her face. "How long have you been standing there?" Sue asked Jack, interrupting his silent prayer. "Not long." he responded. As Jack drew nearer, Sue pointed to a picture in the wedding album and declared "This is one of my favorite wedding photos."

It was a picture of Jack and Sue with Levi, alongside their dear friend Deanne and her dog Katie. Both Sue and Jack had grown even closer to Deanne over the past year and a half. They both knew that if not for Deanne, and of course, ultimately God, they might not be together today.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
After Sue had initially accepted the job offer in New York, she continued to pray to God for guidance. She asked for a sign as to whether or not she had made the right decision. She had thought she was meant to take the job; after all, why would the offer have come up, from out of the blue, if it wasn't God's will, she had questioned. It truly was, as she had told the team, one of the hardest decisions she had ever had to make. She dearly loved each and every member of the team, especially Jack, and would sorely miss them. She was hoping that the sign she would receive would be Jack finally telling her that he loved her, that he would ask her to stay. She had thought he was going to say something to her that night; she had waited expectantly. But he hadn't, and she almost broke down in to tears when he walked out of the bullpen. Memories of the past 3 years had flooded her mind.
Initially, Sue didn't know why she felt the need to go to THAT particular church that night. She soon realized she had been led there by God, where she would receive her sign -- in the form of Deanne. After speaking with Deanne, Sue realized what she had to do -- she had to stay here in D.C. with her friends, they were more important than a job promotion.
"And maybe, just maybe" Sue hopefully thought "Jack will finally admit his feelings to me!"
Chapter 7:
It was the morning of what was to have been Sue's last day with her D.C. FBI unit. By now, practically everyone in the Hoover building knew that she had decided to stay and turn down the job promotion in New York. There had been a lot of celebrating that morning! They were just so glad that they weren't losing their Sue! It had taken a while for things to settle down, but the bullpen was now relatively quiet, as each team member concentrated on their individual paperwork.
Lucy had admitted to Sue that she had purposely told all of the team EXCEPT Jack that Sue had decided to stay, in hopes that Jack would be prodded into finally revealing his true feelings to Sue. He had come close, very close, that morning, Sue thought. Unfortunately, Myles had interrupted...Lucy could have killed him!
Myles had felt bad about it, as he realized, too late, that he might have interrupted something very important between Jack and Sue, especially considering prior to his interruption, Jack was unaware that Sue had changed her mind and decided to stay in D.C.
Later that morning, Myles approached Sue's desk and gently cleared his throat, alerting Levi of his presence. Levi placed his paw upon her leg to get her attention.
"What is it, boy?" Sue asked, as she looked up from her paperwork, seeing Myles standing in front of her desk. "Oh, Myles! I'm sorry, did I miss something?"
"Uhhh, no..." Myles responded awkwardly. "Miss Thomas, may I have a word with you, privately?" he discretely asked.
"Sure." Sue responded, wondering what this was all about.
Sue followed Myles into an empty conference room. He closed the door, while she proceeded to sit down. Myles continued to stand, as he prepared to say something.
"What's this all about Myles?" Sue questioned.
"First, let me say that I'm delighted that you decided to stay! The team just wouldn't be the same without you, Thomas."
Sue was taken slightly aback by his comments. "Thank you!" she signed and said, with surprise evident on her face.
"You seem surprised?" Myles questioned.
"I am a little, Myles. You haven't always exactly been my biggest fan. I mean, I knew I had finally earned your respect, a while back. And I had hoped that you considered me a friend, as I consider you one. But I didn't ever think I would see the day where you would actually say that the team wouldn't be the same without me, especially considering that you thought that I was 'harmful' to the team when I first joined!"
"Another reason I'm glad you didn't go to New York is that I may never have gotten the opportunity to do what I'm about to do." Myles said hesitantly.
Sue looked at him, in utter confusion, not sure where this was leading...
Chapter 8:
Myles cleared his throat and continued. "I want to formally apologize for the way I treated you in the beginning, Miss Thomas. I was unnecessarily cruel, rude, and insensitive! You didn't deserve to be treated that way, and I'm ashamed of myself. I was a jerk, a brute, a, a..." he looked at Sue with raised eyebrow "feel free to stop me at any time, Miss Thomas!"
Sue had covered her mouth, trying to hide the amusement upon her face.
"What's so funny, Thomas?" Myles asked.
"You are, Myles!" Sue responded. "You don't have a lot of experience apologizing, do you, Myles?"
"What makes you say that?"
"Oh, nothing..." Sue said, a small grin still upon her face.
Myle's face softened, as a grin slowly appeared upon his face. However, he quickly grew serious once again as he said and signed, "I'm sorry!". He continued, "Anyway, I wanted to ask for your forgiveness."
"Myles," Sue said gently "I forgave you a long time ago."
Myles looked at her in amazement. He was truly touched.
"But..." Sue continued, "I appreciate that you apologized, that you asked for my forgiveness. It means a lot to me! More than you could ever know. I imagine that it wasn't easy for you."
She stood up and hugged Myles, as he awkwardly hugged her back. She then stepped back and said and signed "Thank you!"
In return, he signed, "You're welcome!"
"Now," Myles said, "I want to thank you!"
"For what?" Sue asked.
"For convincing Garrett not to transfer me to another unit when he first took the reigns as our supervisor."
Sue looked at Myles in shock. "You knew about that?" she said completely surprised.
"Not at first..." responded Myles. "But I AM a great FBI agent, Harvard-educated..."
Sue interrupted "And, as always, humble!" she said playfully.
"I was bound to find out sooner or later."
"Well, the team just wouldn't have been the same without you, Myles!" she said with a grin. "Where would we be without your sarcastic wit?"
"Well, I'm glad someone appreciates it!" Myles said with a grin. "And, by the way, Sue, I do consider you a friend." Myles gently added.
"Thank you!" Sue said and signed. "I appreciate that."
"And, as your friend, I feel the need to give you some advice." Myles said.
"About what, Myles?" Sue said, a look of confusion upon her face.
"About Hudson..." Myles responded.
"Uh, what, what, what do you mean?" Sue asked nervously.
"You are in love with Jack, right!?" he was really more stating it than asking it.
"Is it THAT obvious?" Sue asked with embarrassment, her face quickly turning red.
"Well, I think I can safely say that it is to most of us on the team."
"What about Jack, is it obvious to Jack?" she asked, still shocked that she was discussing her feelings for Jack to Myles, of all people.
"Well, to be honest, I don't really know what's up with Jack. Sometimes I wonder how that boy makes such a good FBI agent, because sometimes...he can just be so clueless!" Myles said with amusement.
Sue couldn't help but laugh at Myles's assessment.
"I do know this --" Myles continued "it is also obvious to most of us on the team, that Jack is in love with you!"
"Really?" Sue asked hopefully, biting her lower lip.
"Surely, you've had some idea of how he felt for you? I mean he may be clueless at times, but you, Sue, you are usually dead-on in your assessment of people."
"Well, I suspected, I hoped, but it seems like every time he seems like he's just about to open up and finally admit something, something happens... someone interrupts..." she looked at Myles.
"I'm sorry. I interrupted something earlier, didn't I?" Myles asked.
"Maybe" Sue responded, "I don't know! He had told me that he was going to miss me a lot, personally...then..." Sue trailed off.
"I interrupted." Myles said, upset with himself. "But, that just proves the point. He wouldn't have said that if he wasn't in love with you."
"But after I explained about how I had changed my mind and decided to stay, I gave him the opportunity to continue what he'd been saying..."
"And...?" Myles asked expectantly.
"Essentially, nothing..." Sue said disappointed.
"Sue, why don't you just admit to him how you feel?" Myles asked.
"What if you're wrong, Myles? What if I'm wrong? What if he doesn't feel the same way? Myles, his friendship and his respect mean too much to me to lose. In the beginning, he was the only one that truly believed in me! I can't lose that. If I admitted my feelings, and he didn't respond similarly, I'm not sure I could ever look him in the eyes again. I'm not sure I could continue to work with him. Besides, there's that 'no dating within units' rule anyway."
"Well, I tried!" Myles said exasperated.
"And I appreciate it, Myles!" Sue said with gratitude, as she signed "Thank you!"
"No problem!" Myles proudly signed.
"By the way, the 'no dating within units' rule, I'm sure someone around here could find a way around that! Perhaps, our soon-to-be-appointed new supervisor, D." Myles said with a grin.
"Really? They're finally going to officially make D our new supervisor? That's great! How do you know that?" Sue asked.
"I have my sources..." Myles said proudly. "But don't tell anyone just yet."
"I won't!" Sue reassured. "And Myles..." Sue gently added, "you should let people see your sensitive side more often."
As Sue and Myles returned to the bullpen, the rest of the team, looked at them, and each other, with confusion, wondering what had just transpired.
I just caught up with this one. The songs you chose were so fitting. Jack and Sue do sound equally yolked. THe wedding was so tender. I am enjoying the explanation of what happened after Sue decided to stay and the part Myles appears to be playing.
