Fairy Dance
Did you ever see a more magical sight
Than the fairies who danced in the silver moonlight
At the end of the garden they played out their games
In the old fairy circle by the broken cold frames
There was Buttercup, Rose, and Delphinium Blue
And the gnome from next door, Albert McGrew
Voices so sweet sang joyful and clear
As more fairy folk began to appear
Dozens of fairies cried with joy and with glee
As they came to the circle, the new babe to see
The pretty young maidens clasped hands in a dance
And even old Albert joined in with a prance
The fireflies were waltzing, twinkling in the night
While the elves joked and capered, laughing in delight
They played leapfrog with Ribbet, had snail races as well
Each clinging tightly to the slippery shell
The fairies they swooped and they soared through the sky
While their infants below wished that they too could fly
Watching the games was a friendly dormouse
Who peeked from behind a small toadstool house
And on her fine throne sat their beloved Fairy Queen
A more lovely sight could never be seen
With her delicate wings and long silken hair
Her eyes dancing diamonds in a sweet face so fair
At her feet sat a crib made of petals and down
Where her baby girl lay with her tiny gold crown
The elves their respects they formally paid
While magical gifts the fairies had laid
For this beautiful babe, so precious and dear
Filled their hearts with gladness, hope, love and cheer
One day this young princess, so new and so small
Would grow into a queen, adored by one and all
But for now the dear child watched with curious eyes
As music and fireworks filled the dark skies
The fairies vowed safe their princess to keep
As she rubbed her tired eyes and drifted to sleep
So now we must leave, though they’ll dance ‘til dawn’s light
For to young fairy princesses we must bid ‘Goodnight’
