Amanda starts walking down the aisle of the church to the front of the altar, followed by Tara. As I make my way down the aisle, the groom signs "You're beautiful!" at me, and I sign back "Thank you!".

The groom is a devout Christian. He is kind, gentle, considerate, and compassionate. He has dark, sandy blonde hair, fair skin, and hazel eyes, like mine. He is approximately six feet tall and lean. He has a strong, chiseled jaw and a dimple in his chin. He is about seven years older than me. He is, I suppose, what most women would consider an attractive man. Standing next to Jack are the groom's two brothers, serving as his other groomsmen. The family resemblance is evident. One brother is slightly shorter, the other slightly taller than the groom. One brother is younger, the other older than the groom. Their hair color, skin tone, and eye color are very similar to his, with only slight variations. They also have a similar lean build. The groom is the last of his parent's children, three boys and a girl, to marry, and they are so glad he has finally decided to settle down. They already think of Lucy as a daughter!

As I reach the front of the church and take my place next to Tara, my eyes settle on Lucy's mom and grandmother who are bursting with pride and joy. Next to them is Lucy's sister, a pair of crutches propped up next to her on the pew. She broke her leg a few weeks ago (don't ask how...you wouldn't believe it if I told you anyway), which is one reason she isn't in the wedding. Amanda was more than willing and able to fill in for her.

My eyes then shift to the other side of the church, as do the groom's eyes, to settle on our parents, who are also bursting with pride and joy.

Our eyes then shift once again to settle back on the aisle, as we both look on with pride at our adorable niece and nephews walking down the aisle, huge grins on both of our faces.

As much as I loved that post, I have to say that it doesn't tell us who the groom is but I think it's Myles. Cos I thought Bobby only had a sister. But if I'm off track then say so. Lovely post!

I am not sure the identity of the groom fits with either Myles or Bobby. The narrator (who is Sue, as I recall) fixed her eyes on "their" parents. Sue's brother as the groom seems to sound more possible. Whoever he is, he sounds wonderful. Just my thoughts.

tis*me!
Maybe it was a little bit misleading to say that the groom is like a brother to me and my husband. Although, he is INDEED like a brother to me, since he is...well...he IS my brother, Paul! Shortly after I turned down a job offer in New York, my brother Paul's job transferred him here, to D.C. He instantly took a liking to my entire FBI team, as did they to him. He became friends with each and every member of the team, especially Lucy. Well, it didn't take long for Paul to realize that Jack and I loved each other and belonged together. Wanting what was best for his little sis, he conspired with Lucy, "the matchmaker", to get us together. Neither of them ever expected to fall in love. And the rest, as they say, is history!

So, you see, today my best friend also becomes my sister-in-law. And I couldn't be happier!

At the time, I wasn't sure what led me to the church where I met Deanne again, the night before what was to have been my last day in D.C. I firmly believe it was God's still small voice speaking to me, so that His perfect will could be done -- not just in my life, but also in Jack's, Lucy's, and my brother Paul's. If I hadn't gone to THAT particular church, THAT particular night, I wouldn't have had my talk with Deanne, and I wouldn't have changed my mind about the job in New York. If I had gone to New York, Jack and I would probably not be married, possibly not even be together at all, and Lucy and Paul probably would have never even met and would not be getting married today!

As Lucy enters the sanctuary, upon D's arm, her beauty takes Paul's breath away. She is sporting one of her big trademark smiles, lighting up her entire face and making the joy she is feeling evident. As they reach the front of the aisle, D stops to whisper "I'm sure your father is very proud of you today, Luce! Just remember, he's looking down on you from heaven." Then he lightly kisses her cheek, in a fatherly fashion, and takes her hand and joins it with Paul's. He then takes his place on the pew beside his wife who whispers "That was very sweet of you, D. Have I told you today, how much I love you?"

At the beginning of the wedding ceremony, Lucy lights one candle in memory of her father and another in memory of her grandfather. Paul then joins her in the lighting of the unity candle.

As they did at my wedding, Charlie reads 1 Corinthians 13, while Troy signs it. Lucy liked the Matthew West song, "The Day Before You", that she sang for my wedding so much, she decided to sing it to Paul for their wedding. As she sings to my brother, her groom, I reflect on the words of the song, which are as perfect for their wedding as they were for mine and Jack's:

"I had all but given up on finding the one
That I could fall into
On the day before you
And I was ready to settle for less than love
And not much more
There was no such thing as a dream come true
Oh, but that was on the day before you

Now you're here
And everything's changing
Suddenly life means so much
And I can't wait to wake up tomorrow
And find out this promise is true
I will never have to go back to, the day before you

In your eyes I see forever
And it makes me wish that my life never knew
(I never knew)
The day before you
Oh, but heaven knows those years without you
Were shaping my heart for the day that I found you, yeah
And if you're the reason for all I've been through
(For all I've been through)
Then I'm thankful for the day before you, yeah

Cause now you're here
And everything's changing
And suddenly life means so much
And I can't wait to wake up tomorrow
And find out this promise is true
I will never have to go back to, the day before you

And it was the last day that I ever lived alone
And I'm never going back
No, I'm never going back

Now you're here
(Now you're here)
And everything's changing
And suddenly life means so much
And I can't wait to wake up tomorrow
(To wake up tomorrow)
And find out this promise is true
I will never have to go back to
(Never...without you)
I will never have to go back to
The day before you, yeah
The day before you, yeah
Oh, I'm never going back
I'm never going back
I'm never going back
To the day before you"

As I look at my brother, I can see the love he has for Lucy reflected in his eyes, which have started to well up with tears, and I can't help but shed a few tears of joy myself.

Both Lucy and Paul opted for traditional vows, realizing that they would both probably be too emotional and nervous to manage much more. Paul turns to my wonderfully, good-looking husband, Jack, to retrieve Lucy's ring -- a very beautiful and unique personalized wedding band. It is a two-toned 18K yellow gold and 14K white gold ring, with the inscription "Paul & Lucy", along with their wedding date, in raised gold lettering. As Paul slips the ring upon Lucy's left ring finger, she is once again taken aback by the beauty and sentiment of the ring. She then turns to me to retrieve Paul's ring, a near duplicate of her ring, only bigger with a wider band. After handing the ring to Lucy, who then proceeds to slip the ring onto Paul's finger, I make the mistake of looking at Jack, who winks at me. I almost lose my balance, but thankfully catch myself just in time! Whew! That could have been embarrassing! Something tells me Lucy would not have been happy with me if I hadn't caught myself! Then again, I wouldn't have almost lost my balance if it weren't for these uncomfortable high-heeled shoes! Okay, it probably had a little more to do with my husband's irresistible charm than the shoes! By the way, did I mention how wonderful my husband looks in a tux? Sorry! I lost focus, but if you've ever seen my husband, I think you understand!

As the beautiful wedding ceremony comes to a close, the preacher announces "I now present to you, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Thomas!"

The wedding reception is a wonderful party, consisting of family, friends, and a rather sizeable FBI contingent. Each table of the reception hall is covered with either a red, white, or blue tablecloth and in the center, a couple of small U.S. flags, in honor of the 4th of July weekend. The wedding cake is beautiful. It is a multi-tiered cake with white icing and numerous red roses sculpted from icing.

Jack and I make the traditional Best Man and Matron of Honor toasts regaling the crowd with our part in the lovely couple getting together.

As I dance with my brother Paul, he thanks me, once again, for introducing him to Lucy and for being so stubborn that they had to conspire together to get Jack and me to finally admit that we loved one another. I thank him, once again, for his and Lucy's matchmaking efforts. I also warn him that he better take very good care of my best friend (and new sister-in-law), or I might have to hurt him.

Lucy throws her bouquet, aiming for Tara, and thankfully, Tara manages to catch it without injuring any innocent bystanders. Paul tosses the garter, aiming for Bobby, but somehow, Levi manages to catch it. Being the stand-up guy, ummm, I mean dog, that he is, Levi trots over to Bobby and gives the garter to him. Bobby rewards him with a pet of the head and a "Thanks, buddy! Ya certainly are a wonder dog, aren't ya?" By the way, did I mention that Bobby and Tara are dating? Yep, I figure it won't be too long before they're engaged. Now, we just have to find someone for Myles! Now, THAT could be an interesting mission!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Well, it's been three months since my best friend's wedding. As I sit here in my hospital bed with tears in my eyes, I reflect on what has happened in those three months, but most especially on what has happened today! Don't worry; the tears are tears of joy! I now have a new man in my life -- 7 pounds 3 ounces. Ten perfect little fingers, ten perfect little toes, and an adorable dimple in his chin. He has a head full of beautiful dark hair and has big, beautiful brown eyes, just like his daddy. He is the most gorgeous baby I have ever laid eyes on! I'm sure that one day all the women will be swooning over him, just like with his daddy! I can imagine he's going to break quite a few hearts! For now, I hope that I'm the only woman he has eyes for! As Jack sits beside me on my bed, we both marvel at this amazing little miracle that I'm holding -- this tiny gift that God so graciously blessed us with -- our son, Matthew! I've always loved the name Matthew, plus it means "Gift from God", so it seems quite fitting! One of my favorite Bible verses comes to mind "Every good and perfect gift is from above." James 1:17. Thank you, God, for this perfect gift, as well as all the other blessings in my life!
Jack's gaze moves towards the door. Looking back at me he says "Someone's knocking at the door. Are you ready for visitors yet?"
"Sure!"
"Come on in!" Jack yells.
"Hail, hail the gang's all here!" Tara says with a huge grin on her face, holding a big bouquet of balloons, including several of the Pooh variety.
"So what is it?" asks Bobby.
"It's a baby, Bobby! Good grief! You call yourself an FBI agent?" I say playfully, as I roll my eyes and grin.
"Awfully chipper for someone who just went through twenty-six hours of labor, aren't you?" asks Lucy.
"Please, don't remind me!" I respond. "But truly, he was worth it! We'd like you all to meet the newest member of the Hudson family -- our son, Matthew Jared Hudson!"
"He's so beautiful, Sue!" Lucy says. "Can I hold him?"
"Sure!" I say, and then I carefully hand my son over to Lucy, while saying "Matthew, this is your Aunt Lucy."
"Don't forget to support his head!" both Jack and I instinctively say with slightly raised voices.
"I know, I know!" Lucy says with indignation. "I HAVE held babies before!".
"We're sorry Lucy...we didn't mean to imply" I say, only to be interrupted by Lucy.
"I know, it's a new parent thing..." says Lucy with understanding.
As Lucy lovingly holds Matthew, she looks over at her husband, my brother Paul, who has come to join her. "He's beautiful!" he signs to me.
"Thank you!" I say and sign back. "I certainly think so! Matthew, this is your Uncle Paul."
"Twenty-six hours of labor, huh? Well, it's obvious lil' Sparky is just as stubborn as both his parents!" Bobby says with a huge dimpled grin and a wink.
"Congratulations Sue and Jack! He's a beautiful baby! And what a great name! You're both going to be wonderful parents!" D says.
"He really is a handsome boy." Myles says in admiration. "Well, done Thomas!" he says, still out of habit, even though I've been Hudson for a while now.
"I'm Hudson! She's Thomas!" I say pointing at Lucy with a grin.
"Good grief! Could this get ANY more confusing?" Myles says with a raised eyebrow.
"Actually..." Tara says, giving Bobby a knowing look, a huge smile forming upon her face and his. "I'll soon be Manning instead of Williams" she continues, excitedly holding up her left hand so that all can see her engagement ring.
"Congratulations!" we all exclaim. What did I tell you? I didn't think it would be too long before they were engaged!
"Great! So, we have Hudson and Hudson, who used to be Thomas, and Thomas, who used to be Dotson. And soon we'll have Manning and Manning, who used to be Williams! That's not confusing in the least!" Myles says with his usual sarcastic wit, trying to hide a smile of amusement. "At least you're not marrying someone with the last name Dotson -- then we'd have Hudson and Hudson...oh well, you get the point!"
"Paul and I have an announcement we'd like to make also." Lucy says with a huge grin on her face. "Let's just say that in seven months, Matthew should have a little cousin."
"You're pregnant?!" I say.
"Yeah!" Lucy says ecstatically.
"Congratulations!" we all exclaim, once again.
"A new baby, an engagement, and another baby on the way! Wow, what an amazing day for our team! " I say.
Everyone nods in agreement.
Yep, we're just one big happy FBI family! And getting bigger...
