Hey, Toots. I thought they’d never leave!

I just wanted to tell you that last night was great. I’d forgotten how much fun going on the secret mission to hunt for a fugitive could be … you, me, together on a case again like the old days. I’ve really missed those days. We need to be careful, though, wouldn't want the surveillance experts getting tipped off that we’re … you know.

Anyway, I’ve made headway in the case and I’ve a pretty good idea where that rascal could be hiding himself; I’m working with another contact in Cyber Crimes to see how we can trap him into revealing himself … just need more time.

And yes! I had a great time tracking that fugitive with you and it was wonderful to work with you again … ‘adrenaline rush’ doesn’t even cover it, LOL.

I don't think e-mailing through bureau's accounts is safe. There is a "computer-magician" Tara in the same team. But I love it any way.

This so lovely but I'm intrigued about Sue's line : Do you think they know we're.... you know.

No one will suspect anything because we’ve been ultra discreet. And if Tara doesn’t detect our communications, no one will know. That said, we can’t be too careful because … well … you know the rules.

Anyway, Toots, I’ve downloaded a file for you to check. Think you can do a rush job in cross referencing it with the one D sent this morning? There are some entries I’m suspicious of but I won’t tell you which for now … not because I’m being difficult but because I’d like to see if you can locate the oddities and that will help confirm my suspicions.

Sweetie, if you’re worried about discretion and the rules, calling me Toots is hardly being discreet. What if someone sees these emails? We’ll never hear … ummm … see the end of it, and I don’t want you to get into trouble.

About the files: I believe you’re on to something. What I’ve found are entries on the second Monday of each month from Feb until May with different times between when the clients deposited money into their accounts and when the bank recorded the transactions … there’s a time lapse of more than two or three minutes in each case.

Are you thinking your rascal placed a bug in the system to enable illegal transactions during this time lapse? Do you suspect any of the clients? Or a bank employee? Or employees?

No one really checks the time, do they, when they deposit money as long as the dates are the same and the money’s there. But trust my super secret agent man to spot the time difference! <big hug>

Sue called Jack her "super secret agent man"! How cute is that?! Yes, sweetie Jack, if you're using the FBI's back-up server, you can be sure Tara's going to check in on it if she suspects anything.

And yes, I believe you guys are on to something too!

But, yes, you got it: the times are off. There’s no reason for the time difference because these are straight forward deposits that take … what … thirty seconds?

I’ll need access to the original time of each data entry from the bank’s central database to verify the actual transaction times before I can prove something’s wrong. I can guess where that rascal of a fugitive bug is hiding himself but I still need to determine how he’s doing this and who’s been helping him before I can nail him.

The clients appear to have nothing in common and Cyber Crimes has checked them out and cleared them - all regular folks, randomly chosen because they happened to go to the bank on those days. I’m betting they’re probably not even aware extra money’s going in and out of their accounts.

Your stories truly are quite clever and some of my absolute favorites. I love how you've managed to capture such lively, carefree emotion from Jack and Sue through their emails. Truly amazing!
