This came to me as I was driving to work this morning, I'm sure you will love it

Jack sat in the congregation fighting back the tears. He’d almost refused to attend the wedding but the team had insisted.

Bobby had pointed out that they were all equally gutted by her decisions, especially as she was now pregnant and would be leaving the bureau soon.

He’d argued long into the night, more than once, pointing out that he couldn’t sit and watch her marry ‘him………… it should have been me Bobby………… she’s too good for him…………’

‘I agree ……….. but you’ve had 4 ½ years to get together with her and in all that time you’ve not even asked her out on a date…….. you have no-one to blame but yourself……………’

‘But………….’

‘Don’t ‘but’ me, Jack……….. and don’t hide behind the no dating rule……… we all knew you were in love with her and we would have demanded that the higher ups allowed you to date and work together……… but you wimped out ………. and now she’s found someone else who loves her and isn’t afraid to tell her……… why him and what she sees in him I don’t understand, probably never will…….. as far as I’m concerned he’s a drongo………. but they love each other and she’s carrying his baby……….. you have no choice, Jack…………….’

‘That’s Mission Impossible…………’

‘No…….. it’s happening Jack……… you want to see her happy don’t you…..?’

‘Yeah……….. but I wanted to be the one to make her happy………..’

He knew Bobby was getting fed up now, could tell by the tone in his voice, ‘well….. you should have asked her out then……………. you’re going to their wedding, end of story Jack…………….’

This is all a bad dream right Cath?

Have I changed your mind with my stupid ramblings yet???? Please Cath, i would fall to my kness, but I'd crash into the printer. Please let this be a nightmare!!! *goes off muttering: must be nightmare, must be nightmare*

Chapter 2

So here he was with a smile plastered on his face, the hurt and sadness buried deep inside, determined that Sue wouldn’t realise his true feelings.
Even now he couldn’t understand why she’d chosen him………. when she’d announced her engagement he’d pretended to be happy for her, had tried to avoid all the wedding talk……. taken a couple of weeks off, heading to Wisconsin…….. when he’d returned Sue had been allocated to work with Bobby which suited him just fine.

The engagement wasn’t long and he’d discovered why………. she was carrying his baby…………. Jack had been stunned……, always assumed she’d wanted to wait until she was married. The wedding had been arranged in 4 weeks and her mom was spitting bricks with the whole situation, her dad was equally upset but had taken the line that it had happened and there was no point alienating Sue by their behaviour and risking never seeing her or the baby.

Jack had considered objecting when the Minister asked if anyone had an objection but he couldn’t think of anything appropriate, ‘It should have been me…… I love her’ wasn’t really grounds for stopping a marriage, and Bobby was right he’d had more than 4 years to tell her he loved her……. he had no-one to blame but himself.

He wanted to escape and go for a very long run to clear his head but Bobby and the team had been clever……… he was at the end of the row of chairs, pinned up against the wall………. he had nowhere to go………..

Fighting back the tears he watched in silence as they exchanged their vows.

Sue looked beautiful….. just as he’d imagined she would look on her wedding day……. when he’d thought he would be the man she’d marry.
Her hair was up in a ponytail, her dress simple but elegant.
She had 4 bridesmaids; Amanda and her 3 nieces while Luce was Matron of Honour.

Levi was at Jacks’ feet…… he was living with Jack now as Sues’ soon-to-be- husband was allergic to pet hair.

It had broken Sues’ heart to say goodbye to him 2 days ago but Jack had promised to take good care of him and keep her updated on how he was doing.

Grateful for the dogs’ company the pair of them had spent many hours since then pounding the streets of DC and Jack had spent the previous night sobbing into the dogs’ fur and praying for a reason why he couldn’t attend the wedding.

His Best Man was a friend from school which surprised Jack as he didn’t think the man had any friends.

OMG, Sue is marrying a guy who is allergic to pet hair!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! No offence to people who are allergic to pet hair though!

Poor Levi!!!! Cath, I'm staying firm in my resolve to believe this is a horrible dream!!!!!

I'm confident it's all a horrid nightmere that will surrender Jack to submit defeat and tell Sue how he really feels. I mean just think about this,

1 She's pregnant, Sue always wanted to wait till she was married
2 No Levi, her best buddy, her ears and her faithful companion, who she relies on and will need now and when the baby is born
3 She wouldn't do it to Jack, I mean date yeah maybe, but not marry!
4 AAAAAAAAAGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH Cath!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You're right about that, Cath. It is indeed a challenge to grasp the concept of a pregnant Sue marrying someone who is not Jack, and who is allergic to dogs.

Chapter 3

His thoughts were snapped back as Bobby nudged him and he heard Sues’ voice, ‘I, Susan Elizabeth Thomas take you Randall Ignatius Pitts…………’

Bobby started to laugh, his body shaking as he shoved his fist in his mouth to prevent anyone hearing his hoots of derision, ‘Randall Ignatius Pitts RIP……….. did his parents have any idea what they’d done to him?’

One look at Jack’s face and Bobby knew Jack would quite cheerfully kill both him and Randy.

His heart pounding, sweat dripping down his body Jack couldn’t hold back the tears any longer and they poured down his face as he wiped them away furiously, desperate to get out of the church and out of DC.

Feeling a hand squeeze his he looked down in confusion……..

Cath, could that hand be Sue waking him from a horrible daydream?? Or even a nightmare??? You had her marry RANDY?!?!?!?!?!?!?!? This is a nightmare!! More soon! Tracy, I think you can come out now!

Okay so this probably isn't supposed to be a laughing moment and maybe I'm just losing it but I read your first few posts and I laughed. The idea of Randy and Sue...I mean this has just got to be a warped dream of Jack's or something right?! So I laughed, but the thought of Sue carrying Randy's baby is anything but funny, it's more like:

Cath, you had mentioned it on your My Best Friend's Wedding story thread, but I didn't really think you would ACTUALLY do a Sue/Randy pairing, even as a nightmare, which it HAS to be, RIGHT? And I'm with everybody else who says that the idea of Sue (or anybody else for that matter) carrying Randy's baby is downright !!!!

Chapter 5

Feeling a hand squeeze his he looked down in confusion…

‘Allie………………?’ he thought………….….. it wasn’t Bobby’s………. it was too small………. it looked like Sue’s but it couldn’t be………. she was at the front of the church, exchanging vows with the annoying little Napoleonic paper pusher……..

Looking around he realised he wasn’t in church………. this looked like a hospital room.

Focusing on the hand he realised it was Sue’s ……… how many times had he held it when she was hurting?

His confusion increasing he looked up to see her tear stained face and felt her wipe his tears away with her other hand as she whispered his name.

‘Sue………………..? What are you doing here………..? You’re married to Randy…………….?’

‘I’m what……….?’ Now it was Sue’s turn to look confused.

‘Married to Randy………… I was trying to get out of the church……… then I woke up here……….’

‘Tell me what you remember, Jack………’ she squeezed his hand and he felt strangely comforted.

As he concluded she smiled and ran her hand down his cheek.

‘Jack honey…… do you know where you are………?’

‘I’m guessing a hospital………. why am I here……..? Did something happen when I left the church………?’

Sue showed him her ring finger and he realised she wasn't wearing any type of ring, engagement or wedding and breathed a sigh of relief, ‘Jack……… I promise I’m not married to Randy……… you are in hospital……… you’ve been here for 2 weeks……….’

I am SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO glad it was only a BAD DREAM!!!!!
