Sue and Lucy were up and in work before Lucy had got to ask Sue about the night before. Everyone greeted each other as usual, until Jack walked in. Lucy noticed that Sue didn’t look up. Sue seemed to always know when Jack walked in but today she kept her eyes on her paperwork. It wasn’t until Levi had given Jack his own canine greeting that he put his paw on Sue’s lap to alert her to Jacks presence.

“Hey” Jack said softly, unsure of how to act.

Sue put on a brave front “Hi Jack” she smiled, but he saw the flash of pain in her eyes.

Lucy decided she wasn’t going to get much out of Sue so headed in Tara’s direction.

“How was the weekend?” Lucy asked.

“Great, we had a fun. Jack’s sister is a blast” Tara replied, “oh, and you missed an absolute classic; Allie went head first into the pool!”

At Lucy’s huge grin Tara recounted the story of how Allie ended up in the pool.

“As for the other reason you came over here; I don’t know why Jack and Sue are so quiet. They were like it on the way back”

Lucy looked sheepish, Tara knew her too well, she did want to know about the weekend, but Sue’s silence had been bothering her.

The day was going very slowly for both Jack and Sue; there were no new cases, only routine reports and other paperwork. Normally they would have used this opportunity to walk Levi or have extended lunches, but today nothing.

Sue couldn’t keep her mind on her work, why did today have to be quiet? She could have done with a distraction, to keep her mind off Jack.

Meanwhile Jack was having the same problem. Bobby had caught him Sue-gazing again and thrown a paper ball at his head.

***
Two weeks later and still no change, there had been no big cases so there was plenty of time in the office, the whole team had noticed the difference in Jack and Sue; how they spent less time together or flirt with each other.

“Well at least they’re talking more now” Tara said as the guys gathered around the coffee machine.

“What did happen at Jack’s parents’ house?” D. asked, knowing something must have happened because of the late phone call he received from Jack the night they came home.

“That’s the mystery to all of us” Bobby quipped.

***
“This is ridiculous” Myles complained as they once again congregated around the coffee machine another two weeks later. “How long can they keep this up, you’d swear they had only just met, not been in love for the last three years!”

“Never knew you were such a closet romantic” Bobby quipped.

“I happen to like a good romance” Myles stated, “But this is torture.”

They all looked over to Jack and Sue, who were staring intensely at each other. Even Levi was watching them, ‘well this is a boring game. No-one’s moving. Ooh, maybe they’re trying to see who’ll blink first. I like that but it’s hard to play it with my bunny.’

The team watched as Sue’s eyes started to fill with tears, and the look of sorrow that crossed Jacks face.

Sue couldn’t take any more, it was tearing her up. This was supposed to keep them together, not drive them further apart. Oblivious to the stares of her co-workers she got up and walked out, Levi close behind.

Jack watched Sue walk out, he had to do something, this wall that had built between them was breaking him. He got up and followed her, also unaware of his audience.

“That’s it!” Lucy exclaimed suddenly.

Everyone jumped, “Good gracious woman, are you trying to put us all in early graves” Myles spat.

“Shut up Myles” Lucy retorted waving her hand, “I think I know what’s wrong with Jack and Sue.”

“Well?” Tara said bouncing up and down.

“Remember you said Jack went after Sue when Allie upset her?” Bobby and Tara nodded intently whilst D. and Myles looked confused, so they filled them in. “Anyway, what if, certain things were said” Lucy continued.

“And because of the rules, said things can’t be acted upon” D. caught what Lucy was saying.

“Making them both go through hell, knowing what they know, but not being able to do anything about it” Tara finished.

“Exactly” Lucy stated.

“Huh? I’m lost” Bobby said with confusion.

“You’re not too bright are you?” Myles mused.

“And you got what they were on about?” Bobby asked.

“Listen up Koala boy, Jack and Sue must have admitted their feelings over the weekend and because of they rules can’t act upon them, hence the melancholic atmosphere surrounding Sir Jack and his fair maiden.”

“Oh, why didn’t they just say that then” Bobby huffed causing the rest to hide grins.

***
Sue headed for the conference room and sat on a chair letting the tears fall freely, the past month had been harder than she’s expected and the lack of big cases had made it even worse.

Levi placed his paw on her lap then his head, wanting to comfort his human. Sue rubbed his head, “Oh Levi, I feel so lost.”

She didn’t notice Jack slip into the room, but looked up when Levi moved to greet him. He looked between Jack and Sue expectantly then sat down.

Sue hugged herself and looked down, it was the only way to avoid Jacks penetrating gaze. The tears kept running down her face and her body shook lightly.

Jack was almost in tears himself so did the first thing that came to mind. Without lifting her head, he took Sue’s hand and pulled her up and into his strong embrace. He held her tight against him craving the contact they’d been denying themselves.

Sue melted into his arms, hugging him back fiercely; Jack always knew what to do to make her feel better. But this was only temporary.

“I –I can’t do this anymore Jack. I thought I could, but it’s too hard” Sue whispered.

Jack ran his hands over her hair, then lifted her head up.

“It’s been hard for me too. Every time I see you I want to pull you into my arms and take your pain away. I hate, being this far away. We did this to stay together.” He replied softly.

“But it’s moved us apart” Sue stated.

“I’m afraid to get to close to you, in case I slip up. When we’re close I want to touch you, kiss you and I don’t want to cause you anymore pain.” Jack said, his honesty reflected in his eyes.

“Like I did that night when Lucy got home”

“I won’t lie to you Sue; you did hurt me that night. But still all I could think about was how much I love you.”

Sue took a deep breath, “I know we agreed to be just friends but…will you kiss me?”

Jack didn’t need to be asked twice, his lips descended upon hers taking Sue’s breath away. She kissed him back with all she had, she needed this. He needed this.

Sue felt her back press against the wall and she arched her body into Jacks, the desire to be close to him overwhelming her. She whimpered as he trailed hot kisses from her lips to her neck and back again making Sue gasp.

Sue moved her hands through Jacks hair as his wandered up and down her spine fanning the flames that ignited inside her.

“They’ve been gone a while” Tara commented as she looked at the clock.

“I hope they sort it out” Lucy sighed.

Their chatter was stopped by the entrance of Ted Garrett.

“Dimitrius, the Director wants to see you and Agent Hudson, now”

The team cast glances at each other, how were they going to explain this one?

“We’ll be right there” D. said, sending Lucy to get Jack.

***
Sue and Jack were still in each others arms when Levi alerted them to the knock on the door. They quickly straightened themselves out as Lucy walked in…slowly.

“Jack, the Director wants to see you and D., now” she said with a worried look.

As Lucy walked out Jack gave Sue’s hand a squeeze and caught up with D, while Sue went back to the Bullpen.

***
“You OK?” Tara asked walking over and sitting by Sue.

“I don’t know” Sue answered quietly, “Do you know what the Director wants with D. and Jack?”

Tara shook her head, “None of us do, not even D. knew.”

Sue started to get a little worried, what if somehow they’d been found out? They weren’t actually dating though, so there was no breech of the rules. Oh well, she’d find out when they got back.

***
“Agent Gans, Agent Hudson, have a seat” the director said.

The two men sat down, not really sure what to expect. What came out was the last thing they ever expected.

“Do you know that my wife hasn’t spoken to me in four days?”

Jack nearly choked and D. raised his eyebrows, being on the end of a wife’s wrath was never a good thing.

“Ah, no Sir, we didn’t” D. finally answered.

“Hmm, it appears that a little story has passed her way about two people deeply in love but unable to have a relationship”

Jack had a feeling he knew where this was going, and the look D. was giving him suggested he thought the same.

“Hudson, you are obviously aware of the no dating within the same unit rule?” the director asked.

“Ah, yes Sir” Jack answered.

“As I am aware that you, as well as others, have inquired about having the rule revoked” the Director continued.

“Yes Sir, I did inquire” Jack said, unsure of what else to say so sticking to the facts.

“I am also aware of how close you are with Miss Thomas; actually I think the whole Hoover building knows”

Jack started to tinge red ‘busted’ he thought.

“What I didn’t expect though, was for my wife, who doesn’t work in this building by the way, to find out from her sister, who’s a senior Historical Researcher in New York” The Director started with slight amusement. “But what got me, was the fact that this story came all the way from Colorado.”

Jack put his hand behind his neck. How was he supposed to get out of this one? Looking at D., he saw him looking back with a twinkle in his eye.

“So Hudson, is the story true?” The Director asked with interest.

Jack looked at him in disbelief; surely he wouldn’t want to break up one of the Bureau’s best teams. But he couldn’t lie; he did love Sue, with all his heart and soul.

“Yes Sir, it is true. Sue is the woman I want to spend the rest of my life with” Jack replied honestly. “Can I just ask one thing? Transfer me, not her. Our team is the best because we look out for each other, we’re a family and she shouldn’t have to leave that.”

The Director looked at the Agent in front of him, he knew how good Jack Hudson’s team was, and why they were so good.

“Jack, after careful consideration, the no dating rule has been scrapped” the Director announced, “And I want to go home tonight and have my wife actually speak to me” he added with a smile.

Jacks face lit up, he couldn’t believe it was actually happening. He shook his head, but the smile on D’s face told him he wasn’t dreaming.

“Dismissed” The Director said, “Oh and Hudson, your sister must be one of a kind” he added with a nod.

“Thank you Sir, she is” Jack said, and walked out with D.

“Well, what are you waiting for?” D. asked, “Go, shoo, find her” he added grinning after Jack.

***
Jack walked into the Bullpen with a huge grin on his face.

“What ever it was must have been good!” Myles said, noticing the sparkle back in their team leader.

Jack looked at Sue to find her nervously fidgeting with a paperclip. He grinned and walked to her desk sitting on the edge of it.

“I think I’m having a bad influence on you Miss Thomas” he said running a finger down the side of her face, making Sue shiver.

“Jack” she gasped, “What are you doing?”

“What I want to” he smiled a seductive smile and moved his hand to the back of her neck, ignoring the curious stares shooting their way.

“Please, don’t do this Jack” Sue pleaded, trying to calm to steadily wayward thoughts his touch was creating. “I can’t handle it”

He took her hand in his and brought it to his lips “The rule’s gone, the Director scrapped it. That’s why he wanted to see me; apparently we’ve got quite a following.”

Sue’s hand flew to her mouth, did she read that right? She could be with Jack and stay with the team. But most of all, she could be with Jack, her soul-mate.

As Jack looked at her with those enchanting eyes of his she couldn’t help but lose herself. Jack pulled her out of her chair and lifted her up spinning her round. When he set her down she looked up and saw his eyes darken as he gaze swept over her face. He dipped his head and captured her lips in a tender and lingering kiss.

Stopping for air, Sue remembered where they were and blushed a deep red, burying her head in Jacks shoulder as he kissed the top of her head.

When Sue chanced a look up, she was met with grinning faces and from the rd that had tinged Jacks cheeks, most likely whistles and comments too.

“Uh, the no dating rule got scrapped” she said as she couldn’t think of anything else.

“Yeah, we thought that” Bobby quipped.

Sue blushed again and turned to Jack, who was drawing little circles on the small of her back.

“I love you” he said brushing a strand of hair from her face, then for her eyes only he whispered “I’ll never let you go.”

“I love you too” she replied, melting into his arms.

Ignoring the cheering around them, the two were content to just be with each other, now and forever.

Great ending but one question Where did Jack's sister name come from?

My little cousin is called Georgia, and we all call her Georgie. She's only 9 now, but when she's older i an see her being like Georgina. She's crazy, with a mind of her own but can be really sensitive
