Thanks for the replies! I've had a hectic few days, but i found some free time now so here's some more.

“Guys if you wanna have a kip, go ahead” Bobby said as they continued to drive.

“Yeah, don’t stay awake on our account” Tara added

“I’m not too bad at the moment” Sue answered, having read the conversation in the mirror.

“Nah, me either” Jack agreed.

“So Sparky, is your mum inviting the whole neighbourhood?” Bobby asked.

“I have no idea” Jack replied, “so I apologise in advance if she does anything to embarrass any of you”.

They all laughed and swapped a couple of embarrassing parent stories as well as various conversations. Noticing Sue had been quiet for a bit, jack tapped her arm and asked if she was ok.

“It’s getting too dark for me to read conversations now” Sue replied.

“I’m sure you can think of ways to amuse Sue back there Sparky” Bobby grinned having heard what Sue said.

“Funny Crash” Jack replied, he had a few ideas of how to make the trip less boring for Sue, but he didn’t think she’d appreciate them!

Sue noticed Jack say something and asked what it was. Jack signed back that Bobby said he should think of something to make the trip better for her.

“Any ideas spring to mind?” she asked.

“Maybe” he signed.

Sue saw the wicked grin on Jacks face and was glad it was dark so the blush spreading across her cheeks wouldn’t be as noticeable.

“How ‘bout we play thumb wars whilst there’s still a little bit of light?”

“Ok” Sue answered, “You’re on”.

Jack won their last game just as it turned too dark to play properly, he turned to Sue. She could just make out his words.

“Gottcha now, Miss Thomas” his voice low to his ears.

Sue looked up as she felt his thumb brush over hers gently. She shivered, then froze as the intensity of his gaze washed over her. ‘Don’t play with me Jack’, she thought.

Jack saw her countenance change and wished she felt the same way he did. He was using this opportunity to hold her hand and be close to her without having to explain himself.

The moment was broken when the car stopped and Bobby and Tara switched for the last part of the journey. They sat in silence for a few moments before Jack felt a pressure on his shoulder, he turned his head and found that Sue had fallen asleep. He smiled and softly moved a few strands of hair off her face and his heart raced when Sue cuddled further into him.

Meanwhile in front, Tara had turned round, noticed this and nudged Bobby excitedly. When he looked at her like she’d lost the plot, Tara motioned for him to look in the mirror. He grinned back at her as he saw Jack put his arm around Sue to make them more comfortable and put his head on top of hers.

“Could turn out to be a cracking weekend luv” Bobby whispered as he focused his attention back on the quiet roads.

“Shame the camera’s packed in the back, Lucy would have loved to have seen this!” Tara quipped quietly, to which Bobby agreed

“I think Sparky would have loved a picy of this too”.

Jack felt himself drift off to sleep more contented than he had been, especially in the last week or so, and he knew that it was down to a certain angel next to him.

Dang it! Why did the camera had to be packed in the back?! That was a very cute scene where Jack and Sue were sleeping on top of each other! Lucy would have been wild if she had a picture of those two.

Jack woke up just as they were approaching his old street, still in the position he went to sleep in. The only difference being that his hand now held Sue’s. He shifted slightly, and she stirred, feeling him move.

He let go of her hand and placed his now free hand on her thigh and shook it gently. Sue opened her eyes and blinked a couple of times. She’d been very comfortable and had a wonderful dream of sleeping in Jacks arms. Sue looked at the hand on her leg and lifted her head and saw Jack smiling sheepishly.

“I guess we fell asleep” he said as she was now able to read his lips in the well lit area.

“Y-yeah. S-sorry for falling asleep on y-you” she stuttered, trying to make sense of her thoughts. She had actually been asleep in Jacks arms, it wasn’t a dream! Embarrassment crept in and she quickly looked away, not wanting him to witness it. Sue looked away so fast she didn’t see Jacks whispered reply,

“Anytime”.

As they got out of the car in Kyle’s driveway Jack caught Sue by her elbow.

“I’m glad you came, I really want you to meet my sister”.

Sue looked at the sincerity in his eyes and her breath caught in her chest. ‘Look away Thomas’ she warned herself, ‘you’ll be a lost cause otherwise’.

“Sue” Jack repeated, touching her arm for the second time, “I lost you there for a minute. You OK?”

“I’m fine” she answered a little too quickly. ‘Bring on the lost cause’ she groaned to herself. “Uh, you and your sister seem very close” she continued, trying to regain her composure.

“Yeah, we are” Jack replied opened the door to Kyle’s, and was met with the sounds of ‘Simple Plan’, belting from the stereo system.

“I take it your sister’s already here” Bobby quipped.

At Sue’s look of confusion Jack signed about the loud music.

“Hey Crash, keep your hands off my sister” it was something he’d said since they first met, so it was now a tradition.

“I’ll try mate. I will try” he replied with a wink.

“Wow!” was all Tara could say when they got inside, “I know you said it was big but wow”.

“Yeah, I’d agree with wow” Sue added taking in the open plan gallery.

They followed the music only to find two figures bouncing around a large sitting room. The four of them watched for a minute, until one of the figures turned round.

“Uh, hi. Sorry, didn’t hear you come in” Kyle said turning down the music.

Georgie turned round to find four pairs of eyes watching her and grinned, “Got a little carried away”.

“Is her bad influence rubbing off on you?” Bobby asked walking over to the pair.

“Hush Bobby, I’m never a bad influence” Georgie replied.

“Yeah right” he said picking her up and spinning her round.

“Um, Crash, didn’t we have a discussion about this” Jack piped up.

“What can I say, I’m weak” he grinned, flashing his dimples.

“You haven’t changed a bit, have you?” Georgie hitting him in the chest, and walked over to Jack.

“Hey, Jack” she said giving him a hug.

“Hey baby sister” he replied, “How’ve you been?”

“Good, I’m so glad you’re here”

“Me too, it feels like I haven’t seen you in ages”. Jack then turned to Sue and Tara, “You’ve met Tara once before, right?”

“Yeah, nice to see you again” Georgie smiled.

“You too” Tara replied.

“And this is Sue” Jack said touching her elbow.

Georgie looked at the woman infront of her, Jack had said she was beautiful and shown Georgie a picture, but Sue also seemed to radiate an innocence and purity. So this was the one that had captured her brother’s heart. She could see the way Jacks eyes kept wandering over to Sue and how his features would soften upon seeing her smile, he was well and truly a smitten kitten!

“It’s nice to finally meet you” Georgie said, “Jack’s told me so much about you”.

“Really?” Sue asked, hoping her face didn’t light up as much as she felt her heart leap. “He’s told me about you too, I’m glad we’ve met”.

Sue immediately like Jacks sister. She just seemed to have a way of making Sue feel at ease with a smile and a few words. Like Jack, she had deep, dark eyes and dark hair; the Hudsons were definitely blessed with good looks.

“Oh, this is my best friend Kyle” Georgie said pulling him away from talking to Bobby. “This is Sue and Tara” she continued introducing them.

Sue smiled and shook his hand, but Tara sort of stood transfixed to the spot. She looked up at Kyle noticing his piercing green eyes and blond hair.

‘Don’t babble, please don’t babble’ went through her head as she tried to think of what to say.

“Uh, h-hi” she managed, ‘stuttering is no better Agent Williams’. “Nice to meet you” she finally said then clamped her mouth shut to prevent anything from inadvertently tumbling out.

Bobby and Georgie surveyed the scene before them, Tara was now only stuttering on the odd word whilst talking to Kyle, who had gone all shy, and Jack and Sue kept sneaking glances at each other when one wasn’t looking. It made having a conversation quite amusing.

“Okay, guys” Kyle said, “There’s one guest room on the first floor, three bedrooms on the second floor, and two at the top. Go wherever you like”

“Three floors!” Tara mouthed to Sue, who was also in awe of this.

“It used to be a bed and breakfast, hotel type thing” Kyle explained.

“That makes sense” Tara commented, thinking of the size.

“Don’t worry Jack, you don’t have to go up on the third floor” Georgie quipped “I’m up there, you’re safe”.

Jack was somewhat relieved; his fear of heights didn’t like it up there. Especially when you could see all the way down from over the edge!

“I think I’ll stick to the second floor” Jack said, “What are you guys doing?”

“I’ll go second floor as well” Sue said quietly, which made Jack a very happy puppy.

Tara went up to the second floor with Jack and Sue, whilst Bobby went up to the third. Again with a pretend warning from Jack regarding Bobby’s hands and Jacks little sister.

Chapter 8

“Morning” Sue said as she entered the kitchen.

“Hey, did you sleep well?” Georgie asked.

“Very” Sue thought wit ha smile, until she noticed the suspicious look she was receiving. “I said that out loud, didn’t I?”

“Oh yeah, I take it someone had sweet dreams last night?”

Sue couldn’t stop the blush from running up her cheeks. She’d had very sweet dreams involving a certain special agent with the most gorgeous and deadly eyes ever.

“Morning, what’s going on?” Tara asked as she walked into the kitchen.

“Sue had sweet dreams” Georgie grinned, which made Sue continue to blush.

“I wonder if it had anything to do with the way you woke up in the car last night” Tara quipped.

At Georgie’s confusion Tara explained the way she and Bobby found Jack and Sue on the drive over. When Sue’s cheeks refused to go back to their natural colour the teasing stopped.

“Ok, toaster waffles and maple syrup ok with you guys?” Georgie asked.

Both Tara and Sue agreed, and that is how the guys found them ten minutes later; sitting on the patio.

‘I could get used to this in the morning’ Jack thought as he took in Sue’s shorts and tank top, much different from the old maid style nightdresses she wore when they were undercover.

“Mornin Sheila’s” Bobby said as he and Jack sat down, “Kyle’s putting on more waffles if you want some?”

“No we’re good” Tara replied whilst thinking ‘I wonder if they always look this good when they get up?’

She took in their messed up hair and sleepy kind of look, dressed in shorts and t-shirts. Tara saw Sue do the same and thanked God that they had the shirts on – it was too early in the morning for that much distraction!

“So, did you sleep well?” Jack asked the girls.

Georgie choked on her coffee as he said this, Tara suppressed a grin, and Sue tried to concentrate on not blushing, as she thought back to their earlier conversation.

“George, you Ok?” Kyle asked as he sat down with breakfast.

“Fine” she managed to sputter, “Coffee went down the wrong way”.

“What?” Jack asked in confusion, “What did I say?”

“Nothing” Tara replied, “We slept fine.”

Jack eyed the three suspiciously, they had a private joke already; it was only 10am!

It was decided that they would go over to Jacks parents at noon to help with preparations, seen as his dad had phoned and asked if Jack and Georgie would mind helping out, so they all decided to help out.

“Jackson, darling it’s so good to see you” Elizabeth Hudson said giving her son a hug as they walked into the kitchen.

“Hi mom, it’s nice to be back home” he replied, “Look who else I found”

“Georgina dear, it’s good to see you too” Elizabeth hugged her daughter, then spotted Bobby, “Bobby it’s been too long since we last saw you” she continued hugging him and Kyle when she saw him.

“And who are these two lovely ladies?”

“Mom, this is Sue and Tara” Jack said introducing them.

“Ah, your team mates.” She answered, somewhat relieved that her son wasn’t involved with one of them. “It’s nice to meet you both, I’ve heard of how good your team is.”

“We thought maybe we could help if you needed extra hands” Sue said.

“That would be lovely dear” Elizabeth replied, turning as she said the last part, “There are a few things I could use some help with”

“I’m sorry I didn’t catch that last part” Sue said softly, “I’m deaf, I can read you lips if you face me.”

“I’m so sorry dear, Jack did tell me. It slipped my mind, comes with age you see” Elizabeth apologised.

Sue felt flattered that Jack had told his parents as well as his sister about her, her mother was often in raptures over Jack

They met Jacks, father shortly after and it was obvious who Jack and Georgie followed in looks and manner, Sam Hudson was more reserved than his wife, but had a presence about him that drew people in.

An hour later the guys were setting things up outside with Sam and the girls were inside with Elizabeth preparing the food.

“Georgina! Don’t even think of putting that in there” Elizabeth exclaimed as Georgie went to put Bacardi in the fruit punch.

“Mom, relax. I’ve already made one lot, no alcohol” Georgie replied, “If this heat keeps up it’ll be a welcome change.”

Another two hours later and everything was done. Georgie walked out the patio doors to the back and nearly walked into Tara and Sue.

“Hey, what’s the…wow!”

The girls stood there admiring the view, which at present consisted of tanned, rippling muscles. The guys had obviously gotten hot, and taken their shirts off. Sue, Tara and Georgie stood there transfixed as beads of perspiration ran down toned bodies as they sat on a wall drinking, completely unaware of their audience.

The sound of Sam Hudsons voice calling to his wife broke Georgie out of staring at Bobby and Kyle.

“We better go and sit or something before the guys notice and never let us live it down”

“Uh huh” Tara said still not moving until Georgie gave her a shove. Tara just smiled sheepishly.

“Hey Sue” Tara said touching her arm to get her attention.

“Jack” she whispered, her eyes dark and fixed on him.

Tara and Georgie both looked at each other grinning.

“I do not wanna know what she’s thinking” Georgie said, “It’ll conjure up bad images”

“Huh?” Tara said, once again distracted by they guys.

“It’s my brother she’s all gooey over”

“Oh yeah, forgot that”

Finally they got Sue’s attention and moved to sit on the lounger chairs. Sue was still in a daze about seeing Jack in such a state. Why did he have to affect her so much!

“Sparky!” Bobby said for the third time, hitting Jack in the shoulder.

“What?”

“I was asking if you wanted to go over there and Sue gaze” Bobby repeated pointing to where the girls were.

“I was not staring at Sue!” Jack huffed.

“Yeah you were” Bobby grinned and Kyle agreed.

Jack looked at his father for support.

“Sorry son, I’m with the guys you were definitely, what’s the term, Sue gazing?”

“Whatever” Jack said, “Are we going over there or what?”

The others just laughed knowing that Jack really didn’t need any encouragement to go and sit with the girls.

“Guys, you may want to put your shirts back on before going over there” Sam mentioned, when he received blank looks he continued, “Otherwise you may end up with three rather flushed or even flaked out females on your hands.”

“Huh?” Bobby muttered, whilst thinking that three girls in his hands wasn’t sounding like a bad idea, in fact it was a very appealing idea.

Sam sighed, were they really that clueless. “Didn’t you notice them staring at you earlier?”

“They were staring at us?” Kyle asked.

“Never mind” Sam replied, resigning himself to the fact that these guys really were dense sometimes. He turned to his son only to find him once again stealing glances at his beautiful blonde partner.

He watched as the guys joined the girls and chatted about what various tasks they’d been doing and various other things.

“What’s that?” Tara asked as a loud voice could be heard sailing through the kitchen and out through the windows.

“Aunt Patty” Georgie answered. “She’s not really a relative, but we’ve known her all our lives. Lives next door but one, she’s brilliant.”

A rather plump, dark skinned woman who looked to be in her sixties (but was actually in her seventies) came through the patio doors bringing with her a presence that could not be ignored.

“Where’s my baby girl?” Patty asked as Georgie got up to greet her. “Still as beautiful as ever” Patty commented hugging her.

“And you” she continued to Jack, “well honey, look at you! why, I bet you cause quite a stir wherever there are ladies present.”

“Hi Patty” Jack said, slightly embarrassed by the attention.

After chatting for a few minutes Patty went back to find Elizabeth, and more people started arriving.

Sue looked at the guy walking over to her, he was quite good looking with light brown hair and blue eyes, she’d seen him talking and joking around with Jack earlier.

“Hi, I’m TJ” he said with a smile.

“I’m Sue, did you say TJ?” Sue answered.

“Yeah, sorry, Jack mentioned you were deaf when I asked about you” TJ told her.

“I can read your lips if you face me”

“That’s amazing” TJ was impressed.

They talked for a little bit until Georgie walked over. “Hey Sue, you ok?”

“Yeah, fine” she replied.

Georgie and TJ said a quick hello before he excused himself. “If you need a hand with anything let me know”

“Uh, ok thanks” Sue said as he left.

“Careful with that one. The only thing his hand wants is your arse” Georgie commented as the two laughed.

Many stolen glances later, Jack and Sue ended up getting drinks at the same time. “Hey, how you doing? Jack said softly.

“Your parents have some really nice friends, I’m glad you invited me. Bobby and Tara seem to be having a good time as well” Sue replied.

“I’m sorry, I haven’t had much chance to talk to you” Jack looked deep into her eyes causing Sue’s breath to catch in her throat.

“That’s ok” she managed to whisper, just as Elizabeth came in wondering what was keeping Jack, and her drink.

“Ah Jackson there you are, look who I’ve found” she moved away to reveal what had caused the smile on her face.

“Allie, hi” Jack said, whilst inwardly groaning.

Allie eyed Jack appreciatively, then barely glanced at Sue as if she wasn’t there.

“Sue dear, I’ve got someone I’d like you to meet” Elizabeth announced eager to leave Jack and Allie alone, he and Sue had looked to cosy for her liking.

“Look what the cat dragged in” Patty said to Georgie as she spotted Allie with Jack. “She all over him like a bad rash!”

Georgie groaned “She’s been like that for half an hour”.

“Just as I thought” Patty replied, “A rash would be easier to get rid of”.

Georgie had to laugh, as did Bobby who’d just walked past.

“Bobby, go rescue him. Mom would BBQ my butt if I dragged them apart!”

Allie? So many people can see how wrong that is --even Aunt Patty -- but Jack's mom? obviously isn't a very intuitive woman.

“I saw you with Jack earlier” a woman with blonde hair and the shortest shorts imaginable said to Sue. “You looked close.”

“We’re good friends, we work together” Sue answered.

“So you’re the one” the woman quipped.

“Sorry, who are you?” Sue asked slightly confused.

“I’m Mindy, a friend of Allie’s” Mindy replied.

‘Makes sense now’ Sue thought as she saw the cold look on her face, and glad she couldn’t hear the voice.

“Just so you know, Allie and Jack are meant to be together. That’s how it’s always been, they always end up together.” Mindy started.

“And you’re telling me this because?” Sue quipped.

“I saw how close you were, but he’s way out of your league. Jack doesn’t want to be with someone like you, I’ve heard all about you. He could have anyone he wants, why would he want you?”

Sue didn’t know what to think. Obviously Mindy was rooting for Allie and Jack, but there was no need top be so hurtful. She was still very insecure about herself despite how far she’d come, the day had been great so far, she didn’t want to ruin it completely.

With a look of disdain Mindy swanned off, throwing herself at Bobby.

“Hey, did she say something to you?” Kyle asked Sue, seeing the upset look on her face.

“It’s nothing” she replied, “Uh, I’m going to get a drink.”

“Have you seen Sue?” Kyle asked Georgie a little later.

“She was talking to Aunt Patty a minute ago. Why?” Georgie inquired.

“I think Mindy said something to upset her earlier” Kyle replied.

Georgie sighed. “Yeah I heard her telling Allie what she’d done. I swear she thinks we’re still in high school. Sue said it was nothing so I left it, don’t think she wanted to make a fuss.”

Jack, although having a good time with some old friends was missing Sue. He hadn’t spoken much to her all evening only a few words here and there, but had sneaked many glances at her wanting to be with her. He suspected their lack of communication had something to do with his mother and Allie.

Jack went to get some more drinks and was more than happy to discover Sue there again. He put his hands softly on her shoulders and ran them down her arms, pretending he needed to do that to get past. She closed her eyes at the sensations running through her body at the simple touch.

“Hey, we’ve gotta stop meeting like this” he said with a wink.

Sue smiled at him, but it wasn’t her usual breathtaking smile. “What’s the matter?” Jack asked with concern.

Sue stared into those fathomless eyes as he took her hand. Jack loved being this close to her, if he could he would have snatched her away to his old room and… ‘don’t go there’, he curtailed his wayward thoughts.

“I’m fine Jack. Really, just a bit tired”

Out of the corner of her eye Sue saw Allie standing behind Jack with a murderous look in her eye.

“Uh, you better take those before they send a search party” Sue motioned to the drinks Jack was getting, and she didn’t want Allie to come over.

“Trying to get rid of me Thomas?” Jack grinned.

Before she could reply Allie stalked over, but put on a happy façade. “Need a hand Jack?” she asked sweetly.

“Nah, I got it” he answered leaving Allie with Sue.

“We haven’t had a chance to talk yet” Allie said leading Sue away from the drinks smiling as people walked past.

“I guess we haven’t” Sue replied, unsure of where this was headed. Allie usually ignored her or just made some remark.

When they had a bit more space Allie turned to Sue, the façade gone, and a mask settled across her face.

“Right, I’m going to let you in on something; Jack is mine. You think I haven’t seen the way you look at him. I know this isn’t what you want to hear, oops, my bad I mean see, but you don’t stand a chance with him.”

Sue just looked at her, this couldn’t be happening again.

“Elizabeth wants Jack and I together, and with our history, well, we always come back to each other. To be honest, Jack only tolerates you, he pities, you and is too much of a gentleman to say something.”

Sue felt the tears well up in her eyes, if she thought Mindy was rain shower compared to Allies tropical storm!

“You actually thought you stood a chance with him? I’ve known Jack a very long time and you and him are just too different. So just forget about him, and while you’re at it, keep your hands off him!”

Despite her best efforts the tears started to roll down Sue’s cheeks as she felt her heart start to break, what if Allie was right? She had known Jack a lot longer.

“I’m glad we got that straight” Allie said and walked off in search of Jack, whilst Sue turned and went in the opposite direction unsure of what to do. She couldn’t get back into Kyle’s without a key, which meant facing him or Georgie in her current state, which she didn’t want.
In the end she settled on going upstairs, people had only gone up there for the bathroom so she should be safe.

Georgie had said earlier that if she wanted to escape for a while she could use her old room, but all Sue wanted at the moment was for Jack to hold her in his arms and tell her things would be ok. The closest thing she could think of was his room so she went in, closed the door, lay on the bed and let the tears fall freely.

Poor Sue, I feel so sorry for her having to see not one but two women talk to her like that! As if Jack would be interested in anyone who could be so mean to another human!!! I really hope Jack will go search for Sue and find her in his old room and just hold her tight!!!

Did no one ever know how just low Allie (and her friend) could get? And this is the woman who seriously thinks Jack is 'hers'? Sheesh!

But Sue, you gotta stand up for yourself too. You can ... Jack's on your side.
