okay, I'm not a writer so we'll see how this goes. I'm not done but I'm working on it
Myles glanced around the bullpen. Jack was sitting at his desk working, with pictures of Sue and their young son on his desk. Sue had transfered teams 5 years ago when so she and Jack could date, now she was trying to keep up with little Sam at home merely as wife and mother, a full time job she said. Bobby was on vacation visiting his fiancée’s family, and preparing for their upcoming wedding, not but 3 months away. Tara was busily trying to find information on the kidnapper suspects for the case, with her wedding set sparkling on her left hand. She had married Stanley 2 ½ years back and they were expecting their first child in a few months so Tara was confined to desk work until after the baby was born. Jennifer was the new rotor replacing Lucy when she had moved with her husband to pastor a church in Tennessee. Jennifer was a working mother of two young sons who spent most of their time at the Hudson’s until either she or her husband could pick them up after work. Dimitirus was still around and more or less the father figure to the whole team, happily married to Donna raising their beautiful two children. To replace Sue, there was a new agent, Luke. Luke was fresh out of Quantico and so Jack had taken him under his wing to help him learn the ropes and he was learning fast, even helping with numerous busts now and again.
As Myles looked around he once again noticed his age and his single status. What did he really have to show for his life. Yes, he had helped with numerous busts and brought numerous criminals into custody to protect the world. On the other hand he seemed to fail at relationships completely. He barely spoke to his snobbish parents, and his sister, Anne, he was still on rather touch and go relations. Every dating relationship he ended up in seemed to completely fall apart, like the time he had cheated on Lucy and she had as a resulting dumped him, straining his relationship with the whole team. Sue was a real blessing to him because she was willing to look past his exterior and see the good in him, helping him learn to forget, but she wasn’t around any more. Myles didn’t love Sue like Jack did, but she was still a special person in his life, just because she was such a great friend to one and all. He began to wonder if anyone would notice if he just quit and started working else where. He did have a law degree from Harvard. “Maybe I’ll look for a position as a lawyer, maybe even out of DC,” mused Myles.

By the end of the next week, Myles had multiple offers from prominent law firms asking him to be a junior partner able to work his way to an equal partnership. That Friday during lunch he pulled out a couple offer letters to re-read them so he could think about deciding which he wanted. Seeing Myles so engrossed in what he was reading, Bobby, who had returned earlier in the week, was typical Bobby and snatched up one of the letters off the desk as he asked “What’s ya reading, mate?”
Myles, realizing that Bobby had picked up one of his offer letters, just shrugged. As Bobby looked back at Myles and scanned the letter to catch the basics of what was said, frowned. Sitting down Bobby questioned, “Myles, have you accepted this offer yet?”
“No, Bobby, I have multiple and I can’t decide,” half-mumbled Myles.
“You have multiple offers?” inquired Bobby, incredulous. “When did you start looking? Why are you considering leaving? When are you leaving us? Can we do anything to change your mind?”
“Bobby, I’ve played my role here. I don’t have a spot on this team anymore. You all are either married, or soon to be married, minus Luke, who’s only 24. I just don’t belong here anymore. I’m not much more than a hindrance to the team.” Bobby laid the letter back down as the rest of the team came into the Bullpen.
I know it's not a lot more, but it's all I've got at the moment.

Monday morning Ted walked in the bullpen, “Myles, may I please see you for a minute please.” Once in the office he continued “Myles, you don’t seem quite yourself. I know it’s almost Christmas and you’re not close to your family. I also hear you’re considering leaving the bureau?”
“Ted, what’s left here for me anymore? I have helped catch multiple criminals over the years but what has my life really amounted to? I’m not a part of the team anymore. They’ve all changed and moved on with life, gotten married, had kids, or are getting ready to. I’m still the same old sadistic man I was 10 years ago. I’m not doing anything but hindering the team anymore. I think it’ll be best for all if I take one of the positions I’ve been offered.”
“Myles, stop it, you’ve a valuable part of this team. If you take another position, I wish you well, but the team won’t be the same without you. When are you going to let the team know you’re leaving?”
“Once I figure out which job I’m taking. I’ll probably be leaving during the holidays, which I know only gives me two weeks to get decide. Oh, Ted, I can’t help but disagree that the team’ll change that much with my departure.”
Ted shook head his head and dismissed Myles.
Back in the bullpen, Jack begins discussing the recent kidnapping, pointing out a link between the two girls. “D, Bobby, go talk to Jessica’s parents about the basketball team, see if they can tell you about any funny happenings there. Myles, you’re with me to go visit with Natasha’s father. Luke, I need you to lend Tara a hand for the moment seeing if you can find out anything else. You too, I want a report of everyone on that team, including girls, coach, and all parents.”
The four older men grabbed their coats and made their way out the door and down to the parking garage. “Hudson,” Jack answered his phone. “---, no Sweetheart, I can’t make it home right now. --- okay, I’ll meet you at the hospital.” Flipping his phone shut “Myles, take Luke with you. Little Sam just fell off the couch and Sue thinks he broke a leg, so I have to meet them at the hospital. I wanted to talk to you about the letter Bobby read on Friday on the way. It’ll be hard to loose you if you do leave. We’ll get together soon, I promise. Later” Jack jumped in his car as Myles headed back up to the bullpen to get Luke and explain the change in plans. Myles really didn’t care they had found out, all he knew at this time they weren’t changing his mind, he wasn’t more than a hindrance to the team.

It turned out that Myles and Luke, after comparing notes with Bobby and D, did gather some useful information that day. After work Myles dug some boxes out from under one of the guest beds and started packing some of the pictures from the house into it. This job certainly started a trip down memory lane for him. Myles found pictures of the whole team over the many years he’s been with he bureau. He couldn’t believe how many pictures of him and Lucy were still up around the place, even with the dates he’d been on since Sue over-read his conversation over 8 years ago, he’d even had a steady girlfriend a time or two. He found pictures from Jack and Sue’s wedding, as well as Tara’s to Stanley, and Lucy to Joseph. Other pictures included events and parties around the office and various team member homes’ throughout the years.
“Myles, open this door, I know you’re in there,” came from the other side of the front door, not 10 feet away. Myles never heard D knock on the door, he was so lost in thought. Opening the door, “May I help you, D? Please do come in, may I get you something to drink?” replied a very confused Myles, why was D showing up unannounced at his house?
“Just a glass of water, please” D requested as Myles headed into the kitchen for a glass. While he was gone D began to look at the mess of the usually neat Myles. “What’s going on here, Myles?” demanded D when Myles returned.
“Dimitrius, there’s nothing for me here anymore. I’m not more than a hindrance to the team. I have about 5 offers for a junior partnership in major law firms in NYC. I’m working on packing so I can move over the holidays. Not like I have anything better to do, I certainly am not going to my parents for dinner on Christmas. I don’t want to have to put up with their questioning as to why I’m not yet married and giving them grandchildren to carry on the family name and prestige. The rest of you have all moved on with you life while I’m still the same arrogant, sarcastic man I was when I joined your team,” rambled Myles.
“Myles, you are as much of this team as the rest. And for Christmas, what about the team get together a couple days before? I don’t want it to be a good bye party for one of my best friends.”
“Best friends?” questioned Myles. “Aren’t you talking about Jack or Bobby here, not me?”
“The team, now including Jennifer and Luke are like family to me. Take any of you away and we’d miss something. You’re not escaping from us that easily. We’re harder to get rid of than you think” D smiled at his friend. “Please reconsider, especially if your reason is because you can’t offer anything to the team. You’re our language expert, you know that. Your skills are valuable. We need you.”
“I’ll think about it”
“Take care and I’ll see you tomorrow,” D said as he got up to leave. He shook Myles’ hand on his way out the door.

Here's some more =)
Tuesday morning, Myles was seeing what else he could find about the case when Jack walked in and asked “Want to go with me to talk to the coach? The rest of the team can handle hunting for information.” The two men grabbed their coat and headed to the car. Once in the car Jack continued “Sorry I had to run off yesterday. Sammy fractured his lower leg falling off the back of the couch and I had to go help Sue.” He paused, “Myles, what’s this I hear about you leaving the bureau?”
“I’ve been offered positions at multiple law firms in New York City. I’ve narrowed it down to two. I will be handing in my letter or resignation Friday, which is the eleventh. I’ll stay until the start of the Christmas vacation on the 23rd,” calmly replied Myles.
“Why”
“Jack, honestly tell me what use I am to this team. I don’t think --”
Jack cut him off, “Myles, you are an invaluable member of this team. If you’re reason for leaving is because you don’t think you fit in, I haven’t heard anything stupider in my life, well, that may be an exaggeration but you get my point”
“Jack, it’s been great working with you through the years, but you have all moved on. I’m still the arrogant man I was 10 years ago. You’re now having to worry about a wife and a son. I’m 40 and still living the bachelor life. It’s been a while since I have managed to put decent input into a case. Frankly, in a lot of ways I’m getting too old to be a good field agent anymore and being I chose not to climb the ladder here my choices are limited. You would survive just fine without me.”
Jack, who was driving, was getting frustrated enough with Myles’ speech that he wasn’t paying attention to the road like he should have. Another car ran a stop light and rammed into the passenger side of the car, knocking Myles out.

Later that afternoon Myles woke up with just a broken arm and a concussion, but the hospital still wanted to keep him overnight for observation before the released him. This accident would mean the team would be forced to do without him for the next few days though. After the room had emptied of the various hospital staff, Myles smirked “Now we’ll find out if how much use I really am to the team.”
A moment later Tara strolled in with multiple files. “I came in as soon as they’d let me. As you were waking up they kicked us all out. About an hour ago Bobby, D, and Luke headed back to the office to work on the case. Jack feels really bad about what happens, he thinks if was paying more attention to the road he could have avoided the speeding car.”
“Tara, please stop the rambling. What happened? Where’s Jack?” Myles requested.
“Let me go get Jack and he can explain it. Some how he was just banged up a bit, nothing major.” Tara calmly replied as she left to go find Jack. Upon entering Jack explained what happened in the car.
Myles stated, “If that’s what happened then it’s not your fault and we all know that. I’m glad you’re okay.”
Tara interjected, “I wish this was just a visit to cheer up a friend in the hospital but unfortunately it’s not. While I was hunting for information on the coach, I found this document and none of the rest of us have the expertise to untangle the legal jargon used.”
Taking the folders Myles replied, “I’ll look at them and see if I can figure anything out. What else is happening on the case?”
Jack briefly explained before saying, “rest and take it easy, but please look at those when you feel up to it. We’ll let you rest now, call any of us if you need anything.”

sorry, no nurses for any of the team members, but here's some more. Sorry if I'm off on some of the legal jargon
After a nap Myles picked up the files on the table next to the bed. Looking at them Myles thought “Jack ought to be able to figure these out, there’s basic property documents. Why are they giving me busy work?” He found his cell phone and called Jack to demand “What is with the document that I know you can comprehend? I know you’re brain is bigger than a pea. -- Stop trying to make me feel important. I refuse to be a charity case. -- Okay, Okay, I’ll take a look at it. -- Bye”
Looking over the documents Myles found some important information about the basketball coach. As he continued to read to documents he started finding names of places he knew well, not far from his parents house. The more he read, the more he understood what the coach might be able to gain by kidnapping two girls from that area. Myles would have to ask where the two kidnapped girls grew up.
Not long after Myles flipped on the TV to watch the news, Tara and D strolled into the room. “Hey Myles, how are you feeling? Any better?”
“Much better D, thank you for asking,” replied Myles. “Can you tell me where the two kidnapped girls are originally from?”
Tara piped up, “They are both from northern Virgina. Why?”
Myles went on to explain the situation from the report adding “This isn’t too far from where I grew up so I know the area and people fairly well.”

Wednesday morning Myles was released from the hospital and allowed to go home, though he wasn’t supposed to go back to work till the next day. Bobby picked him up from the hospital, “Hey you up for swinging by the bullpen to check on the case. I think the rest of the team would like to hear what you found yesterday.”
“I guess I’m up for it,” responded Myles. “I also need to pick some stuff up.”
After a couple minutes of silence in the car Bobby finally asked, “Mate, you still thinking about becoming an attorney in New York?”
“Reason why I shouldn’t?” questioned Myles.
“Umm, let me think, because you’re needed here. We got a taste of what it’s like without you yesterday. None of us would have found the link in those property documents. Remember the move that plays every year around this time, oh what’s it called? I can’t seem to remember.” Bobby paused for a minute before coming up with, “’It’s a Wonderful Life’ where the guy thinks things’d be better off if he had never been born and he gets to see that life. Well, we got to see what the team would be like without you yesterday, and it wasn’t pretty, we just couldn’t handle it.”
Shaking his head, Myles replied, “You have an interesting way of seeing things”.
Back at the bullpen Myles was reminded the doctor had told him to rest today and that he could come in tomorrow. “Hey mates, I’m taking him back in a little while. He’s just going to explain what he found yesterday for everyone. I know Tara and D have related most of what he found but nothing like hearing it from Myles himself,” defended Bobby.
“Okay, Myles, let’s hear what you found out,” requested Jack sitting down. Myles went on to explain the link he found to the case in the property documents. Jack then stood and explained the rest of the information the team had found and that they had the arrest warrant for the coach and were heading out to arrest him when he got off work for lunch. Bobby then took Myles home so he could rest for the afternoon.

After a decent lunch, far better than hospital food, Myles settled at his computer and pulled out his offer letters for the jobs in NYC. Even with his right arm broken, being his cast ended above his wrist he was still able to type almost as well as normal. Setting one aside he began to write letters thanking the legal offices but saying he would not be taking the job at their office. This chore took the afternoon, after which Myles fixed dinner and went to bed.
Thursday morning at the bullpen, Jack updated Myles on the arrest of the basketball coach and his confession leading to the retrieval of the missing girls. Just about every member of the team had contributed in some major way to the breaking of the case. With the case solved, the team had nothing but paperwork left to do on it, and with only a couple other open cases the team was rather laid back at the moment.
Midmorning Ted suddenly strolled into the office asking to see Myles. Once seated in his office Ted inquired how Myles with holding up with his broken arm before broaching the subject of Myles leaving. “What are your thoughts on leaving now?”
“I’m still thinking I will probably take one of the jobs offered me. I’m getting too old to be in the field, and the team could easily find someone younger with a similar set of skills. I’m totally replaceable.”
“How can someone replace Einstein with a Gun? I do believe those are you own words too. And look at Dimimtrius, he’s easily got 10 years on you and still a perfectly good field agent. Part of what makes a good team is managing to mesh personalities, and I think we have a good fit right now. Having to replace any one of that team would be hard. Having to replace Sue and Lucy when they left was almost impossible, I don’t want to have to replace you.”
“I’ll think about it Ted. At the moment I still feel like I haven’t moved on like everyone else has. I’m still who I was 10 years ago.”
Again Ted just shook his head and dismissed the agent.
As soon as he set foot into the bullpen Myles was informed by Jennifer, “Myles, being you’re injured, you’re responsible for figuring out how we’re decorating the bullpen this Christmas. We’re already a week and a half into December and don’t have anything up saying it’s the season of Our Lord’s birth yet.”
“Hey, being rotor, I thought that was your job. I’m an agent with paperwork that needs to be done.”
“Sorry, Mate, it’s gotten designated to you. That what the team decided. Especially being it looks like it’ll be your last Christmas with us. We want to make it special for you,” piped up the Aussie.
D then asked, “Isn’t it a celebratory lunch today being we just finished a major case? Being no one person cracked it, I say we each get our own. Where we going? Myles?”
Annoyed, “Why is everyone one trying to treat me special? I’m not gone yet. Jack, you’re the leader you choose.”
Jack picked a place and the team headed out for lunch. The team had a good time just getting to hang out after solving a case before returning to an afternoon of paperwork. Due to the car accident a couple days previously Myles decided to head home early. One his way home Myles remembered his promise to turn in his resignation letter the follow day, Friday.

Friday Myles strolled into the office with a smile on his face. Once Myles was sure Ted was in his office, Myles knocked on the door to turn over the letter he had written. Ted read it and nodded before both men walked back to the bullpen together.
“I have an announcement to make,” stated a calm Myles. All heads snapped to face him. “I have just handed Ted my letter of resignation. This has been a rather eventful week for the entire team,” Myles gestured towards the cast on his right arm, “but I have taken a position as a junior attorney at a firm in New York City. I have really enjoyed working with and getting to know the entire team. Dare I go so far as to say it has been a real blessing. But times have changed from when I first started working here shortly after I finished law school at Harvard. I know my background has been helpful in solving many cases over the years but, I believe it is time that I move on.”
Tara questioned in a disappointed voice, “When are you leaving us Myles?”
“I will stay around until the holidays. I believe the date is the 23rd, “ replied Myles.
D dejectedly commented, “So our annual Christmas party for the team will be a going away party for one of my best friends. Donna and the kids aren’t going to like the somber air there.”
“Neither’s Sue,” flately stated Jack. “Myles, she’s come to really value your friendship. I know it looks like she decided to stay because of me, but it was because all of us are important to her. Transferring so we could date was hard because she didn’t want to leave the rest of you.”
Tara suddenly interjected, “Myles, you are coming over to mine and Stanley’s house for dinner tonight, no ifs, ands, or, but about it. Be there at 6.”
“Okay?” question Myles, but all he got in return was a smile.
“So, who’s my partner going to be?” asked Bobby? “We are all supposed to have partners, and now mine is leaving.”
Ted finally said, “Myles, we’ll all miss you, but the best of luck. Keep in touch. Bobby, we’ll figure something out, you may get to train someone new. Now if I’m not mistaken, paperwork’s from the last case isn’t on my desk yet.”
The whole team got to work, though no one was in the mood to work. The team was being split up again. First Sue, then Lucy, now Myles, who’s next. “Shelia, when are you going on maternity leave?” questioned Bobby.
“Not now, Bobby,” said Jack.
