Excellent post! I almost like Myles.

Can't wait for the letter's contents. I'll bet Jack gives the letter to Sue and reads along with her over her shoulder -- he's such a nosybutt, but so cute! fainting.gif

Looking forward to tomorrow! coffeepc.gif

This is truly amazing, Kav. I love every bit and piece of this. But Myles reaction in the last post struck me. He is trying so hard to believe, not necessarily in any one thing or in any one person, but in the idea of belief itself. I loved how he left the bathroom door ajar to let a little light into the inky blackness of his room. Kind of like how he let's Sue into his life to light up the inky blackness of his disbelief.

Okay, my head hurts now. I think that thought was a little too deep for my small brain. I think I sprained a muscle in my head on that one!

Thanks for the magic, Kav

Tossing on a pair of worn gray sweat pants with Quantico written across the butt, he padded barefoot into his darkened bedroom, hesitating only a moment before leaving the en suite bathroom light on and the door ajar.
Nice attention to detail describing Myles' nighttime attire, Kav. tongue.gif Oh, and Janet would like to add, It's not a bad butt either...rofl2.gif

“Ah – he’s gone home to dream about Sue…you’ve no worries. Weird though, how he keeps getting in here and he thinks he saw…well he did see…but of course he only thinks what he saw wasn’t really what he saw because he thinks it’s impossible which is what we want him to think…I mean it’s what everyone thinks, isn’t it and that makes your job easier – or harder, depending on your point of view. But anyway I think…”

Truth be told, it's very hard to get a good look at that particular part of Myles in the series. I know I checked (for research purposes only). I just kind of used my imagination. However, I saw a couple of good shots in the Hallmark special last night. angelnot.gif

Anyway, Kav, I love how you get inside Myles' head. I think you understand what drives him so well.

Is it completely insane that after reading that post in your story, Oreo, I totally checked out Myles' butt on the Hallmark movie last night too??? blushing.gif

I also love how you write Myles, Kav. I love Myles!!! And I don't think Sue would abandon him during choir practise... knowing her it means as much to her as it does to him. wink.gif

Sue woke early, well, it was Levi’s nose that nudged her awake before her alarm. She didn’t mind because once awake, she could bask in the glory of knowing her dreams had become reality. Jack was…hers! She stretched as a delightful, shocked thrill shot through her and then cozied up under the covers to simply revel in her blessings.

Not content to have his owner lounge luxuriously under the bedclothes, Levi bounded over to the window, barking sharply, his tail wagging madly.

“Shhh!” Sue scolded good-naturedly, “you’ll wake Lucy!” she warned.

“She’s already awake.”

Sue ducked her head guiltily when her friend grumpily staggered into the bedroom. “Oh Luce, I’m sorry I didn’t catch him in time. How long as he been barking?” She looked down at the rapturous dog who was lipping the collar of her pajama top now as she gave him his early morning bum scratch.

“It’s okay. It’s not you. He just started barking now. I’ve been up since four a.m.”

“You couldn’t sleep? Is something wrong?” Sue asked in concern.

“Nah – just funny dreams…you know the kind – all disjointed bits from the previoius day. And bells peeling Oh Come All Ye Faithful all night long,” Lucy sighed as she slumped onto Sue’s bed and stroked Levi’s head. “Not every one can sleep on command like you, lover boy, eh?”

Levi barked his agreement and raced back to the window, this time daringly placing his paws on the window ledge to look outside.

“It snowed,” Lucy explained.

“Snow?” Sue squealed, tossing back the covers and racing to stand next to Levi by the window. She missed the big blizzards she knew growing up in Ohio. The storms in DC tended to consist of very wet snow that more than likely turned to slush by mid afternoon and didn’t stay on the ground very long after that. But this morning a blanket of fresh white snow covered the ground outside and big fluffy flakes were still falling in a steady drizzle of white. “First snow! It’s perfect!” She flew from the window to rummage through her dresser drawers and her closet.

“What are you doing?” Lucy asked with as much energy as she could muster.

“Getting ready to go out in it! I bet no one has made tracks in the park yet. We’ll be the first. And I can make a snow angel…”

You’ll be the first. I’ll be sitting at our kitchen window enjoying the view with a hot chocolate. You can wave at me. I may wave back if I can muster up the energy,” Lucy contradicted.

“Poor Luce. You sure you’re feeling all right?” Sue touched her friend’s forehead lightly. “you don’t have a fever.”

“I don’t think you can get one from lack of sleep…or bell ringing. Is that called tinnitis? Anyway…they’ve blessedly stopped now that I’m awake, though I still have the odd urge to hum a Christmas Carol.”

“Hum away, it won’t bother me one bit,” Sue assured her joyfully as she raced for the bathroom.

Appropriately bundled up and armed with serious snowball making mitts, Sue trudged across the calf deep snow on the street and into the park where she surveyed the winter wonderland with reverence. Levi whined, pulling impatiently against his leash but she didn’t release him right away. “You have to learn to appreciate the beauty God created. It’s right in front of you, Levi. All those soft, white curves untouched by human hand…”

Jack came into her sight line. “Yeah, buddy, listen to her. She’s right…there’s nothing like appreicating the beauty God has made right down to the untouched…” His eyes left her in no doubt as to what curves he was referring to.

“Jack!”

“Ah – you’re clashing with the scenery, sweetheart. Your face is glowing as bright as Rudolph’s nose.” He was close enough now to lean in for a kiss. Their frosty breaths mingled, the warmth emanating from each other a stark contrast to the chill in the air. “I missed you,” he told her simply before bending down to unclasp Levi’s leash. The Golden bounded off – taking giant rabbit leaps over the untouched field of white.

“You’re not a morning person…”

“And this is too early even for you…”

“It’s the snow…”

“Magic…”

“What?”

Jack’s gloved finger traced the outline of her face. He watched in fascination as a thick, sticky snowflake clumped onto her eyelash. He bent to lick it away, pursing his lips in speculation. “It tastes good – as far as first snowflakes go, but not as good as you.” He brushed a kiss along the corner of her mouth. It wasn’t enough by a long shot so he hauled her into his arms and his mouth closed over hers again, rougher than he intended. His heart constricted and flooded with love when her tongue shyly slid over his, soft as velvet, scorching him to his soul.

Heat had flared instantly the second his lips feathered against hers. She moaned when he deepened the kiss, wrapping her arms around his neck when she felt his gloved hand cup her nape. He began a rhythmic erotic kneading that liquified her knees as his mouth worked magic over hers.

He had been waiting all night to take her into his arms again and now that he held her he still wanted more. His mouth moved hungrily across her cheek as he breathed in her fresh scent. His nose nuzzled her ear lobe only to be replaced by his lips and tongue and then he captured the fleshy part and worried it with his teeth, feeling her startled shiver in her body so close to his.

Had he shocked her? He hoped so. He wanted to bring her body to life – wanted her to feel even a fraction of what he did when took her into his arms. His lips moved in precise patterns, generating trails of electrical shocks that left her quivering in his arms. He pressed her closer and groaned in frustration at the bulky coats that prevented him from feeling her soft curves. His gloves were tossed to the snowy ground, Levi pouncing on one and worrying it the way he would a rabbit if he ever caught one. Jack didn’t notice and wouldn’t have cared if he had. He was too busy releasing buttons, loosening scarves and finally, reaching inside to capture the hot luscious curves of his dreams in a sensuous hug.

She was passed thinking, passed any concept of reality at all. Her pulsing body had taken control of her mind as she tried to crawl inside Jack’s overcoat, yearning to get closer to his heat as she shivered in reaction when his thumb swept underneath her shirt, stroking molten caresses along her waist, up to her ribs where he began a thorough exploration of each indent and every ridge.

He hadn’t expected to feel like this. That she would rob his breath and his sanity with one glance. That his need would sharpen into something so insatiable he was afraid he wouldn’t be able to stop. Her skin felt like satin, burning beneath his calloused fingers as he explored by touch what he hadn’t feasted on yet with his eyes. So much to discover, and they had a lifetime ahead of them and yet he still found it hard to put the brakes on his passion. Perhaps a dousing in the snow would cool his runaway ardor. He lifted his lips from hers long enough to whisper, “hold on,” before he twisted his body and braced himself for the impact.

She gasped as they free fell to the ground, squealing when a spray of powdery snow slipped beneath his hand and cooled the heated skin of her midriff. He lifted her, settling her across his body so that she touched only him and not the frigid snow. They were both gasping and laughter spilled out into the silent air when Levi ambled over to toss a few snowballs in their direction. Sue got the brunt of them, since somehow, she seemed to have the most skin exposed to the elements. Jack’s eyes darkened as he watched the beads of water dot her velvety skin. He erased them with his thumb, and Sue thought the heat from his touch should have evaporated the moisture in a hiss of steam.

“If we were inside, I’d lap the snow from your body and warm you…”

She placed a mittened hand over his mouth. “Don’t,” she pleaded, trying desperately to gather her thoughts and remember that they were in a public, albeit deserted this time of morning, place.

His eyes danced devilishly over the muffle, as lethal as his words, maybe more so.

“Oh Jack, how did this happen?”

She looked so dazed and slightly distraught that he took pity on her. He tossed her onto her back and covered her body with his, letting his knees and elbows settle into the snow while his warm body covered her exposed skin. Snow dropped from his hair onto her face and his eyes narrowed on his first target before bending to lap up the cold crystals that were melting on her cheek.

“It started with a snowflake, I believe…and a little bit of magic.”

It's a good thing Jack isn't trying to romance Sue in our snow....First, because there is none and secondly because if there were, and he fell back, he'd have a concussion because our snow usually doesn't conver the ground. But that is beside the point....

Jack remembered the letter when they were settled in his car. He handed his Starbucks coffee cup to Sue and fished around in his pocket but pulled the bell out first, it's cheery red ribbon a little bedraggled after their tussle in the snow.

Sue didn't seem to mind and he was rewarded with a swift kiss on his cheek for his thoughtfulness. "You amaze me sometimes, Jack, the things you think of," she told him sweetly and he didn't have the heart to confess that it hadn't been his thought at all.

"Too bad it doesn't ring," was all he said and then had the uncanny feeling that the bell was frowning at him.

"I love it anyway. I always have," Sue assured him cradling the bell in her hand. "I can't believe I blamed my mother for it's disappearance all these years and it was my own carelessness that got it lost in the first place." Sue sighed, thinking that she owed her mother a conciliatory phone call this evening.

"Maybe it's the bell's fault. It just didn't want to be found," Jack suggested, and then wished he hadn't. The words just popped out of his mouth and then he couldn't prevent himself from adding, "Maybe it was biding its time, waiting for the right moment to reveal itself..." he shrugged.

Sue gaped. Then made a show of sniffing his coffee. "What did they put in this?" she teased, handing it over to him. "I didn't know you had such an imagination, Jack. You'll be great at telling bedtime stories when you put our children to bed..." She flushed beet red the second the words left her mouth, and suddenly tongue-tied, she began fussing with her own coffee cup which had a steady stream of whipped cream foaming out one side.

Jack watched her lap the chocolate dusted froth with avid interest, patiently waiting for her eyes to revert back to him. When they did he was ready for her. "Our children...as in yours and mine? Babies we would make together." Vivid images suddenly burst into his mind and he nearly drove into a snow bank.

"Watch out, Jack!" Sue cautioned nervously, wishing the heat in her cheeks would subside. She was sure she was in for third degree burns, especially when he looked over at her again, having righted the direction of the car.

"But you said..." he persisted.

"It was just a slip of the tongue," Sue hastened to explain.

Jack grinned. "Well, I'm all for that any time...Your tongue's become a top priority for me now, but frankly, sweetheart more than your tongue would have to slip before..."

"Jackson Samuel Hudson don't you dare go any further with this line of thought! Think about...oh, I don't know, what do you normally think about this time of the morning?"
she asked frantically.

"What you just told me not go any further with," he replied with a teasing wink. "You're adorable when you're flustered by the way."

The force of Sue's sigh brought her bangs standing to attention. "A woman doesn't want to be adorable, Jack. Children are adorable. Dogs are adorable. Bells with ribbons are adorable..."

Levi barked sharply, and nudged Sue's elbow from the backseat. "Yes, I already said you were adorable..." He whined and burrowed his nose between her arm and her body and Jack envied him the right.

"So about our adorable children. How long have you been thinking about them?"

Sue refused to answer him and Jack kept up a running monologue as they drove into work. Blonde hair and brown eyes? Brown hair and hazel eyes? Boys or girls? Two or a dozen? She groaned and closed her eyes, effectively silencing his teasing just as she’d done to her mother so many years ago.

She imagined a boy like Jack; a clear image popping into her mind as if she knew exactly what her son...their son...would look like. She chewed her lip nervously as she contemplated her faux pas. It was embarrassing, but Jack didn't seem to mind and he was certainly having fun at her expense. She felt his hand on her knee, squeezing gently. Nope, she definitely hadn't chased him away with her maternal yearnings. Opening her eyes she looked into his incredible chocolate ones. Chocolate.

"I knew someone with your eyes, once," she told him. "A boy...a very handsome boy, if I remember correctly."

"Should I be jealous? Who is he? Where is he now? Tell me he grew into a lout with a beer belly!"

Sue's eyes crinkled up with laughter as she daringly brushed her hand against his flat abdomen. "Hmmm...no. I imagine he's as perfect as a man as he was as a boy."

"You imagine? You don't know for sure?"

Sue shook her head, eyeing Jack quizzically. There was something so familiar about him...from the very first time she had seen him she knew he was a man of moral fiber and sound character. How did she know that? It was like a part of her, recognized a part of him...Her hand closed over her Christmas bell and she imagined that it glowed warmly in her hand, almost encouragingly. Now who was having the fanciful notions? She sat up, determined to become the model of professional conduct, but her shoulder brushed his chest, and then she felt the whisper of his breath against her forehead...and that hand of his was creeping higher up her leg...

"Jack! Aren't you supposed to be driving us to work?"

"We're here," he murmured against her hair and then pulled back to tell her again right before his lips descended over hers.

She opened to him without thought, her hands tunneling into the thick waves at his neck, her back arching when his arms drew her upper body closer until she was unceremoniously yanked back by the unforgiving jarring of her seat belt – with enough force to jerk her out of his arms.

A sharp rapping on the windshield riveted Jack around to find Myles' face peering in at them, his lips curved in sardonic amusement. "I'd love to see Randy's face when you fill out the workman's comp report about how Sue sustained her whiplash injury. I can see it now, 'Whiplash Smooch Sparks Interest in Whirlwind Courtship at Bureau'."

Jack grumpily waved him off and turned to Sue, hoping she hadn't seen the jibe, though judging by the way she was now struggling to get out of the car, she had.

"Whoa, steady," he said, reaching across to grope for the seatbelt release down on the floor at her side. His lips were temptingly close to hers, and he could feel the rise and fall of her chest pushing against his in her agitation. "You won't be able to get far still buckled in. I wouldn't mind though..."

"Jack, we really shouldn't. We need to present a...business like posture when we're..." her thready voice gave out all together.

"At work?" Jack asked helpfully smoothing her coat over her knees.

Sue tried to glare at him severely, but he winked.

"Just for the record, I like your posture any way you want to present it to me."

"Jack!" Sue groaned. He was much too boyish this morning, and she fought hard to keep her smile at bay. "What am I going to do with you?" He opened his mouth to reply and she hastily tapped his chin closed. "Don't answer that," she warned. They'd never get out of this car if he kept on the way he was going. Contrarily, she was disappointed when he capitulated and withdrew to his side of the car.

"Just for the record, my mind has been dwelling on little blonde haired girls with wispy hair. They look just the way I imagine you did as a child. I'd like to have a baby with you Sue...and I've never said that to another woman before." He reached out to clasp her hand, pressing his lips to her knuckles before releasing it to pocket his keys. His fingers brushed against paper and he pulled out the crumpled envelope. "I almost forgot about this," he said, waving it under her nose. "Do you recognize it?" He didn't wait for her to answer, but turned it over and read aloud. "Santa Claus. 1 North Pole. North Pole HO HO HO."

Sue's mouth dropped open as she read the return address on the other side of the pink stationary. "It's from me...my letter to Santa!" she exclaimed snatching it from his hands and giving him a suspicious look. “How’d you get this?”

“Would you believe that I have connections with the North Pole?”
