Chapter 1

Lying on his bed he rolled from his side to lie on his back and stare at the ceiling.

His thoughts drifted to his life, he had been feeling a little unloved lately, work had been quiet recently and, as he got older he wondered if he was really needed. He considered whether his life really had any value and meaning, would people miss him if he wasn’t around? Would it have mattered if he had never been born?

That was hardly a post! More like the snip from a snippet! And you left out some key information. Like who is he? Can't wait for more.

Chapter 2

Suddenly a bright light shone around him and he looked in to the face of a man, except it wasn’t a man, well it was but he kinda glowed like Andrew from ‘Touched by an Angel’

‘Who…….. who…… who are you?’ he mumbled, his emotions a mix of fear and confusion.

‘My name is Clarence…….I am an Angel’

‘For some reason the name triggered a memory, the only Clarence he could think of was Sister Mary Clarence in Sister Act and this didn’t look like Whoopie Goldberg.

‘Why are you here? Is it my time? Am I dying?’ he asked.

‘No, you’re not dying but your Creator knows your heart, heard your unspoken questions and He sent me to show you how life would have been if you had never been born.

Um....I think you forgot to tell us who he is....again!

Probably you're thinking that this is funny! Well, I can tell you that it isn't funny! That's absolutely not funny! That's very very far from being funny!

‘But……. but……… I …. I thought He only cared about people…… not about…….’ He whispered.

‘Not about animals…….. ? In a way you are right, people have a special place in his heart, the Saviour came to die and rise to life to save people but He cares for all his creation and you have played as much a part in his plans for DC as any person…… had you not been born things would have been very different indeed Levi…… come., I’m gonna take you on a journey of DC life without Levi……….’

Clarence beckoned Levi to his paws, ‘but what about………?’

‘They don’t need you for a while…….. you’ll be back before they realise……..’

Chapter 4

‘Remember Levi, no –one can see or touch us’ Clarence explained as he flew them to their first destination.

‘Do you remember this place Levi?’

‘It’s the kennels, where Sue chose me to be her hearing ear dog, she gave me a second chance……’ Levi swallowed back the tears in his eyes as he remembered that day.

They watched as Sue and the kennel owner walked down the row of dogs. Levi was entranced as Sue momentarily stopped by an empty run, as if she expected there to be someone there but there wasn’t.

‘That was my run’ he whispered to Clarence who nodded in understanding as tears trickled down Levis’ muzzle.
His thoughts consumed by the experiences which had taken him to that point, a life filled with verbal abuse and frequent beatings or kickings…… the rescue by a kind neighbour who had climbed in to the yard and taken him away, leaving him at the kennels in the hopes that he would have a better life with someone who loved him.

He and Sue had bonded immediately, recognising the hurt each carried and both had been instrumental in the other learning to trust and hope in the future while putting to rest the pain of the past.

Talking an eternity to choose she eventually settled on a three year old mongrel called Scamp.

They watched as Sue worked with Scamp, although they worked together and clicked as a partnership both Levi and Clarence were aware that the depth of love and trust which Levi and Sue shared was missing.

As Sue drove to DC that first day Scamp was curled up on the back seat asleep.

‘He should be awake, with her’ Levi murmured.

‘I know, but the love which you and Sue had doesn’t exist between Sue and Scamp…… she knows she made the wrong choice of dog but is afraid to return him, she wants to give him a fair go……something no-one ever gave her. Sue doesn’t like to give up on people or animals, she wants her independence and she believes Scamp will help her achieve it……..’

Clarence took Levi through the rest of the journey, meeting Charlie, moving in to the new apartment and the first, very boring day in fingerprinting, watching as Levi bit back the tears as he watched Sue, his Sue begin to bond with another dog.

ah levi. don't worry everything we be allright.....right

I feel bad for Levi.
