Once everyone settled in, Lucy brought in the pizza and soda. Soon everyone was happily munching and complementing on the costumes.
“Ok I’d like to thank everyone for coming. In a corner of the room you will find a piece of paper with your names on it, each couple to a corner. On the paper is a list of words each couple must come up with a sentence for each word and the rest of the group will pick one of the sentences to be acted out by said couple. Any questions?”
“So make sure we don’t write down something we don’t want to do?” Bobby asked.
“I guess that’s up to you isn’t it?” Lucy said.
Once obtaining their lists they each began to work on them.
“Coffin?” Myles asked Lucy.
“Well we are the Adams Family.”
Myles shook his head and continued looking at the list of words. When he finished he asked, “So how goes your mission?”
Lucy and Myles discretely glanced over at the laughing couple. “Well good so far…but this was only phase one. I still have to get them alone.”
“I have an idea…” Myles started, and then proceeded on with his idea.
“Tights?! Man what was Lucy thinking?” Bobby asked glancing over his words.
“Aw, I think it’s cute. Plus I think we could find some interesting ways to use that in a sentence…” Darcy said.
“Yeah but those wonderful ideas you have I would rather not have to act out in front of my coworkers.” Bobby stated.
“So what should we do for this one?” Jack asked. Since he had walked in the door that night he hadn’t been able to take his eyes off Sue. He had always thought she was attractive, and that she pulled of the suits at work very well, but this was different. As he thought about it, he was now to the point that she had rendered him speechless so many times that he lost count.
“I’m not sure, I think we’re being set up with that one.”
“I’m sure all the couple have it. But I bet we can find a way around it.”
“I’ve got one. ‘As soon as she entered the classroom the student began kissing up to her teacher.” Sue said.
“Works for me.” Jack said, although his thoughts were more along the lines of ‘And Jack kissed Sue and they lived happily ever after’ After all it was Halloween and he decided to let his mind wander with that for a few minutes.
As each couple finished they brought it up to Lucy. When Sue handed hers to Lucy, Lucy pulled her aside. “I’m so stupid, I forgot to pick up some ice cream for the sundaes. Do you think you could go to the store and get some?” Lucy asked, thinking phase 2.
“Sure, just let me get my purse and Levi.” Sue said while Lucy handed her some cash.
As Sue was about to open the door Jack walked up. “Hey where are you sneaking off to? I’m not that bad of a date am I?”
His smile told her he was teasing, but she still felt a little bad. “No you’re great…I mean…Lucy asked me to go pick up some ice cream.”
“Mind if I accompany you?” Jack asked.
“Not at all.” Sue, much like Jack, had barely been able to take her eye off him. She always liked the way his leather jacket looked on him, but it was even more appealing when they were outside of the professional realm.
Jack proffered his arm and out they went. It wasn’t a long walk to the store so they decided to take a stroll in the park and to let Levi run for a minute. As they were sitting on a bench watching Levi run, they kept stealing glances at each other. Quickly turning their heads when they were caught. Finally they both glanced at the same time and their eyes locked. Neither could seem to look away, the atmosphere around them became electric. Slowly both recognized what they saw in the other’s eyes. Slowly they moved closer and closer till their lips were inches apart. Reaching up slightly Sue made the first contact, but as soon as their lips meet a massive heap of fur landed on them, breaking the trance.
Startled Sue reached over and clipped Levi’s leash back on him. “We better get that ice cream.”
“Yeah ice cream.” Truthfully ice cream was the last thing on either of their minds. Both had been touched by the sparks from moments ago. It was then both realized they could never go back to the way things were, the way things were no more than five minutes ago. They made their way to the store and quickly got back to the apartment.
“What took you so long?” Lucy asked joining Sue in the kitchen, Jack had gone in the living room with the other guests.
“Long line.”
“On Halloween?” Lucy asked doubting.
“Yeah who would have thought.” Sue said.
“Uh huh, well I dish this up you go on in the living room they are getting ready to start acting.”
“You sure you don’t need any help?” Sue asked not really wanting to face Jack right now.
“Positive, in fact we’ll have this later. I’m going to watch too.”
