Ok here is my hand at the Halloween Challenge. This is one of two posts. The rest will probably be posted tomorrow. tongue.gif

********************************************************************

Once everyone settled in, Lucy brought in the pizza and soda. Soon everyone was happily munching and complementing on the costumes.

“Ok I’d like to thank everyone for coming. In a corner of the room you will find a piece of paper with your names on it, each couple to a corner. On the paper is a list of words each couple must come up with a sentence for each word and the rest of the group will pick one of the sentences to be acted out by said couple. Any questions?”

“So make sure we don’t write down something we don’t want to do?” Bobby asked.

“I guess that’s up to you isn’t it?” Lucy said.

Once obtaining their lists they each began to work on them.

“Coffin?” Myles asked Lucy.

“Well we are the Adams Family.”

Myles shook his head and continued looking at the list of words. When he finished he asked, “So how goes your mission?”

Lucy and Myles discretely glanced over at the laughing couple. “Well good so far…but this was only phase one. I still have to get them alone.”

“I have an idea…” Myles started, and then proceeded on with his idea.

“Tights?! Man what was Lucy thinking?” Bobby asked glancing over his words.

“Aw, I think it’s cute. Plus I think we could find some interesting ways to use that in a sentence…” Darcy said.

“Yeah but those wonderful ideas you have I would rather not have to act out in front of my coworkers.” Bobby stated.

“So what should we do for this one?” Jack asked. Since he had walked in the door that night he hadn’t been able to take his eyes off Sue. He had always thought she was attractive, and that she pulled of the suits at work very well, but this was different. As he thought about it, he was now to the point that she had rendered him speechless so many times that he lost count.

“I’m not sure, I think we’re being set up with that one.”

“I’m sure all the couple have it. But I bet we can find a way around it.”

“I’ve got one. ‘As soon as she entered the classroom the student began kissing up to her teacher.” Sue said.

“Works for me.” Jack said, although his thoughts were more along the lines of ‘And Jack kissed Sue and they lived happily ever after’ After all it was Halloween and he decided to let his mind wander with that for a few minutes.

As each couple finished they brought it up to Lucy. When Sue handed hers to Lucy, Lucy pulled her aside. “I’m so stupid, I forgot to pick up some ice cream for the sundaes. Do you think you could go to the store and get some?” Lucy asked, thinking phase 2.

“Sure, just let me get my purse and Levi.” Sue said while Lucy handed her some cash.

As Sue was about to open the door Jack walked up. “Hey where are you sneaking off to? I’m not that bad of a date am I?”

His smile told her he was teasing, but she still felt a little bad. “No you’re great…I mean…Lucy asked me to go pick up some ice cream.”

“Mind if I accompany you?” Jack asked.

“Not at all.” Sue, much like Jack, had barely been able to take her eye off him. She always liked the way his leather jacket looked on him, but it was even more appealing when they were outside of the professional realm.

Jack proffered his arm and out they went. It wasn’t a long walk to the store so they decided to take a stroll in the park and to let Levi run for a minute. As they were sitting on a bench watching Levi run, they kept stealing glances at each other. Quickly turning their heads when they were caught. Finally they both glanced at the same time and their eyes locked. Neither could seem to look away, the atmosphere around them became electric. Slowly both recognized what they saw in the other’s eyes. Slowly they moved closer and closer till their lips were inches apart. Reaching up slightly Sue made the first contact, but as soon as their lips meet a massive heap of fur landed on them, breaking the trance.

Startled Sue reached over and clipped Levi’s leash back on him. “We better get that ice cream.”

“Yeah ice cream.” Truthfully ice cream was the last thing on either of their minds. Both had been touched by the sparks from moments ago. It was then both realized they could never go back to the way things were, the way things were no more than five minutes ago. They made their way to the store and quickly got back to the apartment.

“What took you so long?” Lucy asked joining Sue in the kitchen, Jack had gone in the living room with the other guests.

“Long line.”

“On Halloween?” Lucy asked doubting.

“Yeah who would have thought.” Sue said.

“Uh huh, well I dish this up you go on in the living room they are getting ready to start acting.”

“You sure you don’t need any help?” Sue asked not really wanting to face Jack right now.

“Positive, in fact we’ll have this later. I’m going to watch too.”

Here is the final post wub.gif thumbsup.gif

********************************************************************

As they walked into the living room Lucy quickly took a seat beside Myles, leaving the only seat open for Sue next to Jack. As Sue sat down Jack gave her a smile and she returned it. Both wishing they were back in the park alone.

“Ok first up we have Tara and Stanley. And the winning sentence is… ‘They both shrieked at the sight of the mouse scampering across the floor.”

Tara and Stanley got up and did a funny rendition of a proper lady jumping on a chair afraid of a mouse and her prince charming saving her from it.

“Next is D and Donna. ‘ Swinging through the forest Tarzan swooped up his fair lady and carried her off into the sunset.”

Next up was Lucy and Myles followed by Bobby and Darcy; whose performance was caused a huge laugh and a little steam.

And last but not least were Jack and Sue. Both feeling confidant that their sentences remained well away from embarrassing they got up and stood in the middle of the room, waiting for Lucy to read their fate.

“And for our last couple… ‘As they rose higher and higher he became more and more determined not to look down.”

Jack pulled the piano bench over and he and Sue took a seat. Pretending they were on a ferris wheel Jack pretended to be afraid of heights. To ‘comfort him’ Sue took a hold of his hand and began to whisper in his ear. This action nearly caused Jack to have another heart attack and it affected Sue much the same way. When Lucy called time the almost jumped apart.

Lucy noticed this and aimed a wink at Myles. Myles nodded back showing that he too noticed the action. “If everyone would come into the kitchen we will have dessert now.” Everyone quickly filed into the kitchen and after making their sundaes, which they couple made for each other, they sat back down in the living room to converse.

Finishing before everyone else Sue got up and went to put her bowl in the dishwasher. Jack noticed and followed her into the kitchen who in turn was followed by Levi.

“Hey can I help with anything?” Jack asked also placing his bowl in the dishwasher.

“No I was just getting ready to take Levi out once more for the night.”

“I’ll come with you…”

“That’s ok, you really don’t have to.” Sue protested.

“I know but I want to…” Jack said pouting a little.

“Fine, just let me grab Levi’s…” Jack handed her his leash.

“How…?”

“I was going to volunteer to take him out.”

“Oh. Thanks.”

They were walking along a path in the park when Jack suddenly stopped and faced Sue. Catching her eyes he quickly moved in and pressed his lips to hers. Sue, who had been caught slightly off guard, started to pull back. But Jack moved his hand to her back keeping her close. She gave in and enjoyed having his warm lips crushed against hers. Neither wanted the kiss to end but eventually the need for air pulled them apart.

Sue inhaled deeply trying to calm her pulse. As her tongue wetted her lips she could still feel his presence. Taking a chance she glanced at Jack and noticed he looked about how she felt. Elated.

“So…” Jack said.

“So…” Sue repeated.

“I guess this means we’re gonna have to talk with Garrett.” Jack said.

“I think that’s a definite yes.” Sue said her eyes shining.

“Come here Levi.” Levi obediently came over after hearing Jack’s voice. Sue bent down and put his leash on him and the started back towards her apartment.

As they neared the building they saw that the others had already left. Stopping beside his car Jack asked, “So how about dinner tomorrow. An official first date.”

“I could live with that.” Sue said.

“Good because I probably wouldn’t have survived you saying no.” Jack smiled.

‘Man’ she thought, ‘why does his smile have to make me so weak.’ “Well then I guess we’ll just have to go to dinner more often.” She said aloud.

“I could definitely get used to that.”

“Good, I’d better get back upstairs. That kiss was longer than I realized.” Sue said teasing.

“You regret it?” Jack asked purposely.

“Not at all. Why?”

“Because.” Jack pulled her close and kissed her again. This one was slower and more passionate, leaving no doubt in either mind that this was what they wanted.

“Hudson you’re gonna have to stop doing that.” Sue said scolding.

“Why, I happen to enjoy it.”

“Because one of these days it’s going to make me so weak that I fall down.”

“Not on my watch, I’ll always be there to catch you.” Jack said.

“Always?”

“Always.” Jack kissed her forehead and watched her walk back into her apartment.

As Sue walked into her apartment she let Levi off his leash. “Lucy!” she called with excitement.

Lucy rushed into the hallway hoping for good news. When she saw that Sue was practically floating she knew something had happened. “What’s the matter? Where’s Jack?”

“Oh he left.” She said trying to calm down.

“What happened?” Lucy pushed.

Sue thought for a moment and realizing that she wanted to her new discovery to herself came up with something. “Nothing I was just thinking about Halloween in Ohio and how much fun it was.”

“Uh huh.” Lucy said skeptically.

Sue knew she didn’t believe her but she didn’t care. “Goodnight Lucy, I’ll help you clean in the morning.” And with that she turned towards her room and after shutting her door collapsed on her bed. She fell asleep thinking the same thing Jack was at that same moment.

“You’re the one that I want!”

Way to go cellogirl! Wonderful wonderful job!

Loved how the story fit right in. And very creative with the use of the party and the sentence game. The tension was just right as well.

The way you mixed dialogue and thoughts - also liked very much, could see this.

Thanks!

Ah, Anne... so far it seems they only exist in our dreams and fanficland. But I'm still looking (and I'm not the only one!). Should one of us find one, we have to let the others know where to look! LOL

Well I have one, but he's spoken for. And unfortunately, he doesn't have any brothers. I can promise that if he did have brothers...I'd keep them all as far away from you guys as possible! wink.gif Seriously, as to where I found him? Church, so maybe that says something.

Loved the story, cellogirl! Thought this was especially sneaky:

In a perfect world that is exactly how every episode of STFBE would end. Great story Cellogirl.
