Didn't mean to leave anyone hanging on edge.... there's some holiday that happened yesterday and all the libraries were closed....

leaving poor little me to just spend time writing on the conclusion.... should be able to be completely finished today... further adding to my posting frenzy for tomorrow...

They could only stare in amazement when Myles rejoined them, whistling a holiday tune. Bobby and Tara exchanged glances, wondering what had happened. They’d all been certain that he would have just gathered his coat and stormed out, upset at the fact that he got frosted. But he cheerfully grabbed a towel and helped to rinse the frosting off of the counter. A huge amount of tension lifted and they returned to the light-hearted chatting about their favorite childhood memories. As they got ready to take the teacakes out of the oven, everyone prepared themselves with bowls of powdered sugar. They quickly rolled each cookie while it was hot so that the sugar would melt into a frosting like state. Once the cookies cooled completely, they would be rolled again to clouds of powdery snowiness.
It happened so quickly that they would all be hard pressed to pinpoint exactly what had happened. Lucy was trying to get Sue’s attention, but with so much chatting going on, Levi didn’t know what he was supposed to be notifying Sue about. So she finally tossed a little powdered sugar in her direction, forgetting that powdered sugar doesn’t really fly in a proper route or direction. She ended up giving Myles such a powdering that he sneezed, further distributing the sugar onto his shirt. They all winced and held their breath waiting for him to explode. To their great shock and joy, he started to laugh and grabbed a handful of sugar to throw back at Lucy. That was the end of all civility as the great powdered sugar war of 2006 broke out.
When all was said and done, they laughed to see how white-haired they’d become. Myles couldn’t stop laughing and cheerfully…. Again… grabbed a towel to help clean up the mess. By the time they finished, it was well after eleven and Tanya and Davey had fallen asleep in the living room. So they quickly assembled a huge platter of cookies to take to work and divvied up the remaining cookies into decorative tins so that they all had a tin of their own to take home. Exchanging good-nights and see you tomorrow’s… D took his family home and Myles slipped out the door with them. Tara worked quickly to disassemble the laptop and DVD player so she could take them home. Bobby happily took the carrying bags from her as she picked up the cookie tins and gave Lucy a quick hug. They exchanged laughs as they squeezed their way past a lip locked Jack and Sue who were saying good night out in the hallway.
Bobby drove Tara home and as he was leaning over for a good night kiss, Tara surprised him by murmuring “Stay.”, against his lips.
Bobby pulled back and looked at her. “Are you sure?” he asked, knowing that this was not usually a night of the week that she wanted company.
Tara smiled and brushed a little powdered sugar off his shoulder. “Yes. It’s late… much later than we’d thought it would be. Besides, you have clothes here anyway.” She raised a brow at him. “Muffins for breakfast?” she offered, knowing that he couldn’t resist her muffins.
Bobby rolled his eyes. “Well now you’ve gone and done it.” He teased, turning off the car so he could go upstairs. He grabbed her bags and followed her up the stairs.
Tara took the laptop and DVD player from him when they got in side. She waited while he hung up his coat and took hers to hang up as well. “You’ve got powdered sugar all over you.” She commented, brushing at his shoulder again. “Why don’t you go ahead and grab a shower. I’m just going to prep breakfast a bit.” She told him.
“Yeah, sure. Hey… why is it that you don’t have as much sugar on you?” he asked, puzzled by the fact that she was barely powdered.
Tara smirked. “You know the agreement. I need a kiss before I can tell you that.” She squealed when Bobby grabbed her around the waist and dragged her closer so that he could capture her lips for a demanding kiss.
“Well?” He asked when he pulled away.
She stared up at him blankly. “Wha… What?” she stammered because he’d driven all sensible thoughts from her brain.
Bobby smirked and kissed her forehead. “Ah…I did it again, didn’t I?” he asked. “Driven all senses away?” she nodded. “It’s ok, Tara luv. You were just going to tell me why you don’t have as much sugar on you.” He knocked his forehead lightly against hers. “Better tell me or I’ll be collecting a refund.” He teased.
Tara shook her head, clearing the cobwebs that had rolled in during his fog inducing kiss. “Right.” She said. “Well for starters, I was wearing a sweatshirt that’s now in that bag.” She pointed at the tote bag she’d used as a purse tonight. “And it was hooded so at the first puff of sugar, I pulled the hood on.” She said with a grin. “I slipped the hood off as soon as the sugar started to settle.” Tara giggled. “Now, get moving! You know where the towels are.” She gave him a shove towards the bathroom.
Once she’d prepped the things she’d need to make muffins in the morning, she quickly changed into some Tigger pajamas and crawled into bed, reading while she waited for him to finish. She heard the whirring of the hair dryer and set the book aside. Tara grinned at him when he came out dressed for bed. Bobby winked at her. “There, all sugar free now. Happy?” he asked.
“Aw… just get into bed why don’t you.” Tara complained teasingly, as she tried to stifle a yawn.
Bobby crawled under the quilt, but on top of the sheet like usual. He reached up and turned off the light before lying down and allowing her to snuggle into his arms. “Tara luv?” he asked.
“Yeah, Koala Boy?” she asked, sleepily. “You’re not like, planning on talking all night, are you?”
Bobby chuckled. “No…” he said, pressing a kiss to her temple. “I was just wondering if you found it as strange as I did, that Myles could be in such a different mood by the end of the evening.”
Tara thought for a moment. “It was odd.” She agreed. “I don’t think there was anything unusual in the frosting. We may just have to wait and see if he’s still in a good mood in the morning.” She yawned.
“True. But do you think…” He was cut off by Tara placing her finger on his lips.
“I thought you said you weren’t going to talk all night?” she complained. He felt her shift upward in the bed and lean over him. “You know I love you, but baby, you’ve just got to shut up.” She told him, bending down to kiss him.
Bobby chuckled as she pulled away and settled down in his arms again. “Good night, Tara luv.” He whispered, rubbing her back gently.
“Mmm hmm.” Tara mumbled sleepily as she fell asleep.
