Later that night, Sue joined Jack as he looked out the window of the Hoover Building. There was a ton of snow and wind was blowing like crazy. Jack turned and made sure Sue was looking. "They say that the storm has slowed down and has almost stalled over D.C. Ten inches of snow and still going at the last report I heard."
Sue started rubbing her arms instinctively as she thought of the cold and snow. "Do you think that he's going to try and kill again tonight?"
Jack shook his head a bit. "I don't know. It's hard to say. He could be taking a big risk if he does. I mean, if he goes driving on the roads, any police officer could try to pull him over. Also, he may not have a very easy escape from any body if he gets caught in the act. There's a lot of ice and snow out there."
"I heard that the heaviest snow is almost here. The last report that I heard was that they expect a total of fifteen inches or more."
Jack stepped away from the window and moved back toward his desk. Sue followed. "Sue, you haven't seen Myles or Bobby tonight have you?"
She shook her head. "The last I knew, they were both out trying to follow up on a tip from the hotline."
Tara had overheard Jack's question. "Uh, I just got a call from them. They said that they are trying to get back here, and they estimate that at the rate they are going, it could take up to an hour or more."
"Thanks, Tara." Jack then looked right at Sue. Sue was yawning. "Sue, why don't you get some sleep? I don't think that there's much good in staying up at the moment."
Sue finished her yawn and then looked at him. "OK, you have a deal under one condition."
"What's that?"
"You get some sleep too. If it's not much good for me, then it's not much good for you."
Jack couldn't think of a good excuse so he agreed. "Alright. You got a deal."

Jane and John had just finished one of the most wonderful days that they had ever enjoyed together. Besides their fun time in bed first thing in the morning, they had played some card games, board games, cooking lessons in new recipes, taking turns at different kinds of massage, etc. As the two started to settle down for the night, having enjoyed such a wonderful day together, Jane leaned over toward her husband on the bed, making sure her belly was right up against him. John rubbed her belly gently, enjoying the feel of their baby boy moving around in her belly.
"I can't wait for this little fellow to come out." said John.
"Yeah, no kidding. I've been ready for him to come out for weeks. I'm tired of all the aches and pains of pregnancy, AND, I really wanna see this little guys face." Jane said with a wrinkle of her nose. "And can you imagine what his little body is going to be like? I take a look at the little newborn clothes we've got for him, and I wonder how a person can really be that small." Jane paused for a moment, and John enjoyed the sparkle in his wife's eyes. "Have you thought, John, about what his little fingers and toes are going to look like?"
John nodded. Then he noted a particularly big kick coming from her belly. "Wow. Did you eat some Wheaties for him today or what? After a kick like that, it's a wonder that your gown didn't come flying off your belly!"
Jane smiled and giggled at the notion. Jane reached down and held John's hand. "I love you." She reached over with her head and gavde him a peck on the cheek. "It really makes me feel good to know that you're looking forward to our son as much as I am. I'm glad to know that there's at least one man on the planet who sees the value of sex beyond pleasure."
John got a quizzical look on his face. "You know," he commented, "there are some people who contend that sex is only supposed to be for procreation, and strictly not for pleasure. Some of those people are men."
Jane laughed. "Oh yeah? Well, I've never met them."
"So?"
"You know, from the way you've been acting of recent, I would dare say that you see some value in the pleasure of sex."
Jane suddenly got a very seductive look in her eyes. "I never said that there wasn't any value to pleasure." Then she leaned over with her head and planted a very passionate kiss on his lips. Of course, he enjoyed that kiss....and a whole lot more.

December 19
It was just a little past midnight. Phil Thompson looked out the window of the abandoned house he was in. He had been sure to park his car out of sight, and out of the snow. Now, he had to figure out some way to continue the nightmare in spite of the snow. He knew that anywhere he went in the snow would leave tracks, so he had to have a good plan.
He noticed a house across the nearby intersection with a small glowing light upstairs. He had a plan all of a sudden. He would drive over in front of the house...no a little past the house...right after the snow plow went through. That way there would be litle chance of having a confrontation with a plow driver. Then, he would break into the house, kill someone, and then leave as quickly as possible the same way he came. He knew that he was taking a big chance that there could be more than one person in the house, but he had to continue the nightmare. His selfish agony demanded it.

John woke up hearing Jane scream. He sat up quickly and reached over, hand on her back. "Honey, what is it?!"
Jane was sitting up and holding her stomach. "John, I think it's time."
John didn't know what to say or do at first. His mouth moved a little bit like he thought he should say something, but he didn't know what. He decided to ask and make sure he heard correctly. "It's time?"
Jane shot him a look. "That's what I said! Now come on, we have to get up, call the doctor and go to the hospital."
John started to get up and pull his pants on. Jane did her best to get up and get dressed also. As she stepped over to the dresser, she suddenly felt a warm gudh of fluid down her legs. "John. My water just broke."
John came over, unsure what to do. "Uh, OK. Well, I'll clean that up another time. Do you want a towel for now?"
Jane shot him another look. "No, I think I'll just stand her with wet legs until they dry in the air." she said very sarcastically.
John didn't respond. He just headed for the linen closet in the bathroom. He started to wonder if she was going to be like this for the rest of the night. He was only trying to help. As he pulled a towel out, he heard Jane scream again. He figured that it was probably just another contraction, but he walked back a little faster this time, just in case. When he got back, he saw something that he didn't expect.
Jane was being held by a masked man, with a gun to her head. The man cocked his pistol for effect and then made his demands. "OK, buddy. I want you to give me all the money in your safe. If you don't, I'll kill her."
John was stunned. "Ok, OK! Um, wait a minute. Um the safe is over in the study. I'll have to go over there to get it."
"Alright." the robber said. "I'll follow you. Walk lady."
John turned and headed for the study, looking back as often as he could to make sure Jane was OK. Jane started walking also, but she was talking to the robber. "Please, I'm nine months pregnant, and I'm in labor. I'm having a baby."
"Shutup and walk."
Jane stumbled. John stopped. The robber pulled her back on her feet, and then pointed the gun at John. "Keep walking! Both of you.!"
John slowly turned and continued toward the study. He walked in, and headed right behind his desk. The safe was back there. The gun was also in the desk drawer.

Phil Thompson broke into the house very quietly. He didn't see any lights down stairs. He wasn't too surprised about that. He headed up the stairs as quietly as he could, making very little noise. Before he got to the top, he heard a commotion. He headed toward the commotion. He heard a crash, and a woman screaming. Suddenly he wasn't sure he wanted to be where he was. He considered leaving, but then he listened to what the screaming woman was saying.
"Please, I'm begging you to stop! I'm having a baby, and I need to get to the hospital!"
Phil stopped at those words. "A baby?" he thought to himself. He remembered his own baby that he lost two years before. He stepped closer to the room that looked a bit like a study. He did his best to just peek in through the door. He saw a man with a gun pointed at a woman who was on all fours on the floor behind the desk. She appeared to be trying to unlock a safe. There was another man there laying on the floor behind the desk. He appeared to be knocked out.
The woman finally got the safe open, sobbing the whole time. She opened the safe door, and the masked man with the gun yanked her out of the way. She screamed again and held her stomach. He got into the safe, and pulled out some money. He also pulled out a bunch of papers and other items. The man turned back too the woman. "That's it? That's all you got?"
"Yes that's all. Now please, I need to get to the hospital."
The man was obviously angry. "No. No! I need more than this. All right. You are going to have to endure something else instead."
The woman began to back away from the masked man as best she could from the floor. "What? What do you want?"
The man got a very evil look in his eyes. "I've never had sex with a woman in labor before."
The woman screamed, louder than anything Phil had heard from her so far. The man set his gun aside, and lunged toward the woman. She creamed and kicked. The man tried to get a good hold on her while he pulled on her hair and at her gown.
Phil watched in horror. "What about the baby?" he thought. He had to do something. He looked down and realized that he had the string of Christmas lights in his hands. He pulled them tight as he looked up and waited for a good chance.
The woman was able to plant a good kick on the attacker. He fell back, but in the wrong direction. Phil was almost giving himself away as he stood waiting. The man lunged back at her, but he tripped on one of the unconscious man's feet. He fell past the woman, and landed face first on the floor. He turned over and sat up, and Phil knew his chance had come.
Phil yelled out and lunged forward all at once. He wrapped the string of lights around the neck of the masked man as quickly as he could, and he pulled tight. The woman screamed again. The masked man reached up to his neck and tried to eip the string of lights off, but it wouldn't work. The masked man slowly began to fight less and less, until he finally fell limp. Phil held the string tight for a while longer just to make sure. He didn't want the man to suddenly get a burst of oxygen and then live to really put up a good fight.
When he dared, Phil let the man drop to the floor. He stood up, and looked over at the woman. She looked back at him terrified. "Please," she whispered quietly. "Please don't hurt me."
Phil stepped a bit closer, and she backed away. "I'm not going to hurt you." he said. "Lady, listen. I started killing people because I was hurting inside. I killed people because my Christmas was ruined by someone who killed my family. I din't want to hurt you lady. My greatest pain was from knowing that my little baby wasn't going to get to live a life. I don't want your baby to die. I did this so that your baby could live. Please lady, let me help you."
The woman sat quietly, not sure what to make of the situation. "Will you call 911 for me."
Suddenly phil realized what price he would have to pay for helping her. He thought for a moment. He realized that he couldn't turn back now. he had to help the baby. "Yeah." he said. He whipped out his cell phone. "Yeah, I'll call 911."

Laura Williams had been working for emergency dispatch for many years. She had all kinds of calls for help come to her over the phone...or so she thought. She had been working hard for much of the day, calling out police, ambulance, fire, all for accidents and other difficulties related to this massive snow storm. The last thing she expected was what she heard from her phone near 1:30 that morning. She started this call as she did every previous call that night.
"911, is this an emergency?"
"Uh, Yeah. Yeah this is an emergency. Listen, this is going to sound weird, but I need you to trust me."
"Sir, you would be surprised what kinds of weird calls I get every day. Why don't you try me, but I don't promise to trust you."
"Right. Listen, Laura, this is Phil Thompson. I broke into a house tonight to kill someone, but I ended up stopping a robbery instead."
"What? Phil? Is that really you?"
"Yeah, Laura, it's me."
"You know people have been looking all over for you. Where are you."
He told her the address. She stopped a bit before she typed it into her computer. She knew that he was on a cell phone, because the call tracing wasn't kicking in. But she had to ask him to repeat. "Did you say 34th Street NW?"
"Yes, I broke into the home of... hang on."
She heard him pause for a bit and ask someone who she was. In the back ground, she heard a woman respond. "I broke into the home of John and Jane Carpenter.
"Listen," he continued. "When I broke in, I intended to kill someone, but there was already someone here robbing the people. That guy knocked out John in the process, and he was going to rape Jane. But the thing is, Jane is in labor. We need police and ambulance here pronto."
Laura heard the woman scream in the back ground. Then she heard Phil ask her, "What?!"
"Phil, what's going on?" asked Laura.
"Oh, um, Laura, she feels like she had to push. Get some help coming, but I think I'm going to have to deliver this baby."
