Bobby and Tara walked silently to her house. It felt like deja-vu; going to her house, having Stanley call, waiting for the chance to tell her his feelings. The memories of earlier that day flooded his mind and he frowned.
"Are you okay?" She asked, noticing his frown. He immediately lifted his brow.
"Ya, I'm fine."
"You don't seem like it. You've been tense all day."
'That's a good sign,' He thought to himself. 'That means she's been looking at me.'"No I haven't."
"Yes you have. I saw you.."
"Me what?" He asked, stopping her in her tracks when he stood infront of her. She stopped and looked up into his eyes.
"Bobby.." She glanced down then back up. "Would you like to come in? It's cold." She pointed to her door and gave a weak smile. He nodded as she turned to unlock her door then allowed them in. She immediately turned on the light, put her keys on the counter, then shrugged off her coat and scarf. "Can I take that for you?" She asked, motioning to his jacket.
"Oh, no I'm fine."
"Are you sure?" He nodded.
"Okay." She hung up her coat then turned back to him.
"You wanna talk?" He asked, attempting to keep the oncoming frown off his face. She nodded slowly then walked to the couch with him following behind.
"I just.. I don't know. I feel so tired of being me."
"Why?" Bobby asked, careful not to be to intent of she might just spill everything about the female mind - and that was not on his agenda.
"I don't know. I feel like as soon as me and Stanley got close, we drifted apart. That's happened so many times that.. I just feel like I can't do it anymore. Maybe I should just stop."
"Stop what?"
"Dating. Throwing myself into the deepend when I'm not sure if I can swim." Bobby moved himself closer beside her.
"Tara, listen to me. You're beautiful. Any man that tosses you aside doesn't know what he's doing. I think any man would be lucky to have you by his side. I know I would be." She nodded slowly, erasing a tear that was attempting to fall.
"Then why can't everyone be like you?"
"Not everyone is and sometimes thats just reality." He hated the fact that she didn't say thankyou for being you but instead 'why cant everyone be like me.' He sighed.
"I don't like reality." She shrugged and smiled.
"You wanna know something?" She looked up to him as he laid an arm behind her. "When I was younger, there was this woman I loved but I never knew if she loved me. She was very beautiful, very bouncy.. An all around fun woman to be around." Tara nodded as she leaned her head against his chest. "One day, I got really close to telling that woman how I felt but then, her ex-boyfriend called. You wanna talk about not knowing what to say." She nodded again, though this time it was slower as if she was trying to figure out what time period this was in. "Finally, I had her right where I wanted her. In my arms; comforting, consoling. And you know what?" She shook her head and looked up. "I loved her but I was so stupid that I didn't tell her. Instead, I told her a cheesy story." She smiled but it quickly turned into a frown.
"Bobby.. You just.. that's us." She looked utterly confused as he shook his head, clarifying her thoughts. "Are you serious?" He shrugged.
"Well, if I knew the woman liked me back I might not have to say so many cheesy stories." She giggled then turned away.
"Bobby, I really like you too."
"Really?" She nodded.
"I always wanted to tell you that you were a great friend but with Darcy around I thought you might take it the wrong way." He shook his head.
"But Darcy's been gone for a long time." She shrugged.
"I always used that as my excuse." She smiled. "Isn't it funny how one second you're talking like we are a story and now.. We're living it." He gave a full dimpled smile.
"Who's complaining." He dipped down and their lips met. Tara closed her eyes and leaned against him, feeling his heart pounding. She loved the sensation a simple brush of his lips felt over hers. Truly magical.
