"See ya later, Stanley. Thanks for supper." Everyone said as they filed out of The Chicken Shack. Stanley still looked in shock from the bill.

"You know, maybe you could have slacked off a little bit." Jack suggested as they walked to their cars.

"What can I say, when he's paying, I feel.. Even more lighter."

"Well better him then me." Jack said with a smile to which Boby replied with the same. "So what do you think about that, huh?"

"About what?"

"Stanley marrying Rachel."

"I don't. I don't even know who Rachel is."

"Well no one does. But from what he says, she sounds like a nice girl."

"Ya. But why would he come all the way to D.C. to tell us that? Doesn't it seem a little odd?"

"Maybe he wanted to make sure he wasn't in love with Tara anymore."

"Do you really think they were in love?" Jack shrugged as they reached their cars.

"Bobby I can honestly say that I don't know and I don't want to know. That's too much into a woman's mind for me." He gave a wink before diving into his car after giving a wave. Bobby returned the favour. He slowly got into his car and watched as the rest of the group disperssed into their own cars. He watched Tara closely. She and Stanley had hardly spoken after his announcement and now she looked downright sick. He wondered if it would be the wrong course of action to follow her and see how she was. After she turned on her car and drove away, Bobby decided to let his heart take the wheel. And he knew exactly where it was taking him.

So, Rachel was a surprise to even Tara?? Bobby, good for you - follow her home!!!

So, Stan the Man is getting married and it's not to Tara. To me, that's a good thing. They were cute together, but they just weren't right for one another. To me, Tara and Bobby have a better connection.

Jack and Sue had talked all through the dinner about Sara, parenting, and marriage, but they hadn't quite breeched the topic of dating. He wondered if she was avoiding it for a reason. He found himself following her in his car. He could see how she would glance back every once in a while and wave. She wasn't frightened by the fact that it was almost 10:00 and he was following her. They arrived at her place and after taking a deep breath, Jack jumped out of the car.

Tara hadn't noticed Bobby following her until she looked in her rear view mirror.

"What's he doing?" She said quietly. Her heart had just been shattered and she hoped he wasn't going to try to talk about it. She wasn't in the mood for talk. She wasn't in the mood for anything. She just wanted to lay down and cry. But obviously that wasn't in his plans

Bobby hoped he wasn't being too intrusive but he figured that this would be the only way they could talk without any interruptions. She slowed and parked her car in front of her apartment and he did the same. Slowly, he got out of the car and made his way to hers.

"Nice night." Jack commented after helping Sue out of her car.

She nodded and turned back to the car, opening the door for Levi. "Oh, Jack, did you feed Levi some of you're chicken?"

Jack smiled. "He looked hungry." He gave the dog a steady pat before looking back to Sue.

"Is there something you wanted Jack?"

He nodded. "Yes, actually. We need to talk." She slowly nodded supsiciously then turned and motioned for Jack to follow her.

"Nice night." Bobby commented as he held the car door open.

Tara looked up with a small smile. "Ya."

"Are you okay?"

She nodded slightly as she stepped out and closed the door behind her. "I will be after I get inside."

"In any mood for company?"

She shrugged. "How could I resist." He smiled as she led the way and he followed behind.

I love how alike Bobby and Jack are.



Good answer. Even if Tara didn't feel like talking, Bobby will make her feel better....hopefully.

Bobby followed Tara in then closed the door. She had barely made it in before Bobby pulled her into his strong, protective arms. The arms she could get lost in - and there's no fiction to that.

"Bobby," She pulled away slowly. "Maybe you should go."

"Do you want me to?"

She shook her head. "No, its just.. I'm a mess right now."

"You're certainly the best looking mess I've ever seen."

She smiled. "Thankyou." She walked to the couch where she fell onto, grabbing a pillow and pulling it to her chest as she did so. Bobby watched, then followed, and sank in beside her.

"Is this about Stanley?" He asked quietly - caringly.

She nodded slowly. "Ya, I guess so. I mean, I was so worried that when he was coming here.. He was going to want me back. But now.. I don't know. I was almost happy again when we were talking. It was like old times when we were fine with eachother but then he announced it and.. I feel so lost." She wiped her eyes as a single tear fell. Another quickly followed, taking the path the first had made. She wiped them away angirly. "I'm sorry."

Instead of answering, Bobby pulled her to him again. She relaxed against his chest as he tightened his hold. His wonderfuly Tara was so precious. Her heart had been altered way to many times. He hoped he be able to put it back and he hoped that tonight was the night.

Jack followed Sue into the apartment and glanced around for Lucy.

"I guess she's not home yet." Jack nodded as Sue shed her coat and scarf. He did the same. Levi gallantly trotted away, happily leaving the couple alone. "So," Sue turned back to him at the same time he was bringing his coat to the rack and they bumped against eachother. Sue's arms on Jack's chest, their legs making instant contanct but instantly breaking apart. Sue's hands lingered on his chest for a second longer and Jack wondered if he was just over thinking everything. She cleared her throat in her typical nervous way then walked into the kitchen. "Can I get you anything?"

He shook his head.

"Are you sure? We have Grape juice..?"

He smiled. "Actually, that does sound good. Yes please." She smiled and turned to the fridge. He watched her then turned away, placing his coat on the hooks. He quietly whispered the words he thought most fitting to start the conversation. Several words like "I love you", "Marry me", and "Could we sit down". The last, of course, sounded more reasonable but unbeknownst to him, Sue had seen his lips move in silent whispers and her brow furrowed.

Loved the parallel between the two couples!

Jack asked Sue if they could sit down and she agreed, though she was completely flustered about why he had said those things. It wasn't like she hadn't thought about them but they wre different seeing them on the lips of Jack Hudson. Something about that shocked her; scared her.

Suddenly, Jack understood why she was looking so frightened. "Sue, did you.. Did you just read what I said?" She nodded hesitantley and he spun away quietly chastising himself for being so stupid.

"It's okay. For all I knew you were talking to Levi. You were looking at him."

Jack looked back and gave a weak smile. "Not quite." He took a step towards her and said, "I was talking about you.. about us."

She nodded slowly. "But you said.. I love you and marry me." She smiled as Jack took another step towards her.

"Ya, I know." He gracefully took her hands in his and smiled. "Sue, I wasn't joking. I was serious." She nodded slowly, but her eyes focused on his eyes. He looked away then back and she glanced down to his lips.

"Jack, You know we.. we can't do that. I mean.."

"I know, I know. That's why I haven't said it." She nodded slowly again. "But what if it wasn't there. Would you.. consider it?" She shrugged.

"I'd have to check with Joseph." Immediately, Jack let go of her hands and stepped back. Sue just about burst out laughing. He noticed the smile and tilted his head in a curious way.

"What's so funny?"

"You. I mean.. you and Joseph."

"You keep saying that like I know him."

She smiled again. "You do."

"How?"

"Because Joseph is.. Joseph is Levi."

"What?!"

Bobby watched as Tara fell into sleep. The irreagulatory flick of her eyelashes stopped and her breath deepened, coming in long and slow strides and she had been sleeping for about an hour now. He smiled as she nuzzled further against his chest. At first, it had seemed like she was refusing to talk but she soon gave in, telling him how angry she was at Stanley for coming back here and then announcing to the world that he was getting married - and not to her. Thank God, Bobby thought as he sent a silent prayer of thanks up. She was so vulnerable right now. He loved how she let herself trust him.

"Bobby.." She whispered as she glanced up, her eyes barely opening before closing again.

He nodded. "Yeah?"

"What are you still doing here?" She opened her eyes and looked at her watch. "It's almost midnight."

"Are you saying I should leave?"

She shook her head more fiercely then she had hoped. "No! I mean, I don't want you to stay here when you want to be home."

"No way." He said quietly before kissing her hair. She smiled as he pulled back.

"You know, if you're going to try to charm a girl that's trying not to be charmed.. You should stop before she gets charmed."

"Am I getting close?" She smiled as he leaned in and gave her a soft kiss. She gently responded with no urgency or passion. Just the passion of a fire slowly beginning to burn. He pulled back and rested his forehead on hers. "Should I go?"

She slowly shook her head as she cupped his face and placed a few kisses on his lips, pulling back just as he attempted to pull her closer.

"Thankyou."

Aw, again, I am so happy that Bobby can be there for her. Although, I don't know what Tara's going to be thinking when she wakes up in Bobby's arms. That's going to be interesting.
