Here goes.....my first challange story....I'm so nervous....

As a point of interest...I have never tried candy hearts....

Jack could feel the excitement as he entered the bull pen late Monday morning. He looks around and notices that everyone is sitting doing paper work….all except Tara.

“Finally!!” She sighs. “I’ve been waiting for you.” The exited computer tech bounces on the balls of her feet.

Jack looks around to the others his face showing his panic. “Ummm….okay…” He trails off hoping for an explanation.

Bobby decides to come to his rescue. “Tara here has an idea to put us in a mood for Valentines Day.” He looks to the short spunky woman.

“But it’s not until next week.” Jack points out confused.

“You just may the next seven to complete it.” Tara explains pulling out a small black plastic bag.

Sue, who has just been watching lets curiosity get the best of her and asks. “So Tara, what is this idea of yours?

“Well….I read this in a family magazine.” The bubbly Agent starts. “I know that we aren’t really a family….but I though that it was close enough.” She pauses getting a glare from Myles. “Anyways. The point of the exercise is to grow closer together. Since all of us except D are single I though we could use this Valentines Day to build our Team.” She finishes off in a rush

Sue looks to Lucy for clarification. “I think I missed something.

Lucy shakes her head and signs ‘Tara’s idea is to make us a better team.”

D smiles at his charges. “And as supervisor, I full heartily agree.”

“So Tara, what’s your great idea?” Myles asks sarcastically.

Tara glares at the Bostonian. “For your information Agent Leland it all starts with a candy heart.”

Now it’s Myles’ turn to look confused. “What?”

“Yeah. In this bag there are a number of candy hearts with messages printed on them. Each person picks two and you have to use what’s written on them with members of the team. Then you can eat them.” Tara explains holding out the bag to the not happy looking agent.

“And I suppose you want me to go first?” He asks getting agitated. He sighs as the spunky agent nods her head. “Fine” He sticks his hand and pulls out a small blue heart. “It says ‘Teach Me’”

“Neat. Now let Lucy pick her first one next.” Tara holds out the bag for the friendly Rotor.

Lucy pulls out a yellow one. “ ‘True Love’” She sighs “I wish” Is heard by the computer wiz.

“Are you up to the challenge Koala Boy?” She teases letting Bobby take the bag from her.

“Of course Shelia.” His hand goes in and come out with a pick heart. “ Pink is so not my colour.” He teases reading the message. “ ‘Wiz Kid’” He reads winking at a blushing Tara.

“I think it’s my turn.” Sue points out saving Tara from any embarrassment. “Mine says ‘Dream’ I like that” She smiles at the purple candy.

“Jack’s turn” Lucy shouts, always the match maker. “And make sure it’s a good one.”

The brown eyed agent shrugs shoulders and blushes slightly. “I’ll try.” He nervously sticks his hand in the small bag and pulls out a green heart. “I wonder what this one means. It says ‘Start Now’”

“It means what ever you want it to mean Jack.” Tara says looking between Sue and Jack ‘Maybe this just won’t bring the team closer’ She thinks moving on to D.

“My turn eh?” He jokes pulling out a red one. “I like this one. ‘Hug Me’ I could use a hug from my loving wife.” He smiles

“Sorry D team members only.” Tara points out ready to take her turn. “Mine says ‘3 Wishes’ Interesting.” She says looking at the White candy. “Mint my favourite.”

She passes the bag around again to her team mates.

Myles chooses his second one, and blushes as he reads out loud. “ ‘True Love.’”

Lucy looks shocked as she sticks her hand and pulls out ‘Magic’ “Not bad. I can live with that one.”

“I wonder what surprise waits for me.” Bobby teases. “Let’s see…. ‘New Love’.” He shrugs his shoulders in wonder.

Sue’s cheeks go red as she pulls out ‘Start Now’. She looks to Jack. “I got ‘Start Now’ too. I wonder if that means you and I will start on a new case.”

‘I hope not.’ Jack thinks. ‘Maybe…’ He trails off in his thinking, taking his second turn. “ ‘Kiss Me’” It’s his turn to go red. “Ummm…Can I trade?” He asks looking uncomfortable.

“You most certainly can not trade” D laughs wondering how this challenge will truly affect his team. “ Oh Now this one I can live with. ‘Home Soon’ I like that.”

“It seems to me that D is getting lucky on the draw.” Bobby points out. “Though I guess that’s a good thing considering he’s married.”

“Yeah…” Tara trails off as she looks at her second choice. “ Oh….no….not good” She whispers looking panicked.

“What’s wrong Tara?” Sue asks concerned.

“Nothing. Mine says, ‘New Love’” She glances over to Bobby who is looking shocked.


“Well now that we’ve got them, what do we do with them?” Jack asks noticing the look on his best friends face.

“Right” Tara takes a breath. “Now we have to fulfill what the say. For example, ‘Teach Me’ Myles could learn a new skill, taught to him by someone. Then he can eat the candy.” She smiles at the look of disgust clearly written on the blonde agent’s face.

D watches the interaction of his team. “Well as great as an idea this is, we really need to be getting back to work. Don’t let this exercise interfere with our jobs.” He turns and walks to his desk.

“This should be interesting” Jack admits looking at Sue, who nods her agreement.

The rest of the team return to their mountains of paper work, each wondering how their hearts would make it through the next week.
Well there it is....

Here's one more before bed....I'm not sure where this is taking me....but I do know that there will be many happy endings....

As lunch time approaches Sue receives a phone call. “Thomas” She says.

‘Hey there. It’s David, I was wondering if you could do me a favour.’ The words appear on the computer screen.

“Ummm….Yeah sure. If I can” The annalist says looking to Jack with a concerned face. “What’s up?”

‘Well, my niece just moved to D.C. and got herself into an accident, she’s staying at George Washington.’ The ex-boyfriend starts to explain.

‘You want me to stay?’ Jack questions in sign.

Sue nods he head as she waits for David to continue. ‘She’s young….to young if you ask me but she’s starting college….anyways. I was hoping if you had a spare hour or so you could pop in and see her. She’s a bit lonely.’

Both Jack and Sue stare at the screen in shock. “You want me to visit your niece?” Sue questions trying to get her head around it.

‘Yes’ Is the simple answer

Sue sees Jack nodding his head. ‘I can go with you, and we can take Levi.’ He signs before placing a comforting hand on her shoulder. He feels her nervousness.

“David, I don’t see a problem with visiting her.” Sue states. “What’s her name? How old is she?”

‘Her name is Sam and she’s 16.’ Comes David’s answer.

“She’s only 16” Jack says out loud. “What in the world is she doing in college?”

‘Sue is someone there with you?’ The old flame asks, sounding a bit annoyed Jack thought.

“Yeah. I’m with Jack. We’ll both be stopping by to see Sam.” Sue shows her stubborn streak.

‘Oh…..well….ummm….okay.’ The stuttered answers shows on the screen. ‘I didn’t realize that you and Jack….are…ummm….together. Not that I should be surprised. So you two don’t mind seeing her?’

“It’s fine David. No problem.” Jack answers not correcting the man’s assumption.

‘Thanks’ Is the only good-bye the agents receive before the call is disconnected

Jack and Sue just watch each other, Sue is the first one to speak. “Jack what are you thinking?”

‘I’m thinking that we need to visit a young lady and then go for dinner’ He signs ‘You ready to go?’ He questions when Sue doesn’t move.

‘Yes’ She signs shaking her head to clear the fog. She follows Jack to the door where the meet D.

“Are you okay Sue” The father figure asks.

“Yeah I think so. Just got a weird call from David asking me to visit his niece” She answers looking suspiciously at Jack. “And Jack didn’t correct him” She mumbles.

“Jack didn’t correct him on what?” D asks confused, catching her words. He watches the blonde agent for a few minutes before opening his arms wide. “You want a hug?” He offers.

Sue shakes her head laughing. “No way D. It’s not going to be that easy. Thanks though.” She smiles.

‘I have the strangest feeling that this girl is going to make things interesting’ Sue thinks joining the love of her life at the elevators.

“Can I help you?” Asks a quiet voice. A young girl with long red hair is lying in a hospital bed looking at the couple standing in the door way.

“Yes” Sue answers gently. “Are you Sam Palmer?”

The girl nods her head. “Yeah that’s me. And you are?”

Jack follows his partner’s lead in entering the room. Levi stays at Sue’s side. “I’m Jack Hudson and this is Sue Thomas.” He introduces.

Sam tires to sit up in bed, but is too weak to do so. Sue offers her help. “Here let’s get you comfortable.”

“Thanks.” The teen sighs. “What can I do for you?”

“Well, we came to see how you were doing.” Sue starts to explain. Seeing the confused look on the girl’s face she continues. “Your uncle David called me.”

Sam’s face contorts into further confusion. “Uncle David?” She questions herself. “Oh…so he did get the message. But why did he call you?”

“Yeah, Sue and your Uncle…umm…were quite close when he lived here.” Jack points out watching for any reaction. “He was worried about you and so here we are.”

“Oh.” She looks disappointed. “Well thanks.”

“So how are you feeling?” Sue asks giving Jack a pointed look?

‘What?’ Jack signs ‘What did I do wrong?’

“You didn’t do anything wrong Mr. Hudson. I’m just disappointed that ‘Uncle David’ won’t be visiting.” The girl spits out the name sarcastically. “Other than that I’m just a bit sore.” She doesn’t make eye contact.

“You know sign language?” Sue asks curious.

“Yeah. Mom taught me before she died. Thought I would need it at some point in my life. Not that I ever believed her.” Sam confesses ‘Sorry for eavesdropping.’ She signs the apology.

‘No problem’ Sue smiles. “It’s nice to see used by a younger generation. Do you mind if Levi comes and says hi?” The annalist asks noticing Levi’s excitement.

“Yeah. I would like that if it’s not interfering with his work. I’m assuming that he’s your hearing dog.” The girl smile but her eyes fill with tears. “I’ve been noticing that Mr. Hudson keeps you in eye sight and the way you watch my lips.

“Yeah, I am deaf and Levi keeps an eye on me. Levi come here and say hi.” Levi leaps towards the bed and land almost on top of the teen. “Levi. Get down.” Sue orders in shock. “Sorry Sam, he never does things like that.”

“It’s fine. He reminds me of Shadow. Lay down boy.” Levi turns around twice the lays down his head resting on Sam’s knee. “Shadow belongs to the last foster family I stayed with.” She explains much to the surprise of the couple.

A nurse walks in on the group before the two agents have the chance to question her further. “See I told you, your family would be stopping by for a visit.” The kind nurse says. “Now you need to get some rest. I’m afraid I’ll have to ask you both to leave.” She looks to Jack and Sue.

“The nurse is right.” Sue agrees seeing Sam’s look of sadness. “But we can always come and see you tomorrow.”

‘Yeah…is there anything special you want for breakfast that we can sneak in for you?’ Jack signs giving a small wink.

‘A Star-bucks coffee would be nice thanks.’ The girl signs back ‘Straight up.’

“Did you just sign straight up?” Sue questions.

“Yup, no milk or sugar. Just black.” Sam explains. “Straight up.” She says and signs again.

“Okay.” Jack agrees. “If you get some sleep. I promise that we will bring you a coffee.”

‘DEAL’ She smiles as Levi hops off the bed.

“We’ll see you in the morning. I’ll call your Uncle David and let him know that you’re doing okay, and that the car accident didn’t do too much damage.” Sue conveys.

“Car accident…right yeah. Nope no damage from a car accident.” The girl covers her confusion. “Don’t worry about calling him, no need to bother him.”

“I’m sure he’ll want to know how you are.” Sue smile and gathers Levi’s leash.

The young girl watches as the couple leaves. “Uncle David!?!?! Uncle David!?!?! Why that…..Why did he bother calling them it’s not like he really cares. What other lies has he told them?” She mumbles to herself as the nurse turn out the light.

Ok, I've got my thinking cap on, but it seems to be out of order right now.

You've got me very curious about "Uncle" David. It seems like he's been telling quite a few lies. But if he did something wrong, I wonder why he called Sue. Hmmmm...very interesting.

Yep, that's left me with a bunch of questions all right.

What's up with the whole "uncle David" thing?

Sorry I couldn't post yesterday....I've been feeling a bit under the weather....and it affected my brain....but here's one....

“She’s hiding something.” Jack states helping Sue out of the car. Their conversation on Sam being slightly heated.

They’ve arrived at the restaurant; Sue looks at the sign and laughs. “Sam’s? How very appropriate.”

Jack looks at her confused. “Really, I don’t see what’s funny.”

His partner shakes her head. “Jack Samuel is your middle name. You bringing me to Sam’s seems…I don’t know…like you’re taking me to your place.” She explains.

The Agent’s face lights up with a grin. “Well then Miss Thomas, shall I escort you in?” He offers his arm.

Sue looks at him and smiles. “Thank you Mr. Hudson, I would love that.” She places her hand on top of his, startling him slightly. “But you are more than an escort.” She blushes.

Jack relaxes his fingers, turns his hand palm up and intertwines his fingers with hers. “I like that.”

The many waiters notice the presence of the two agents and many whisper move through them. The Hostess greets them. “Hello and welcome to Sam’s, my name’s Nancie, if you would follow me.”

She takes them to a small table near the back. The table is set with a large candle set in the middle. She hands them the menus while speaking. “Our house wine is on special today. The meal specials are: our T-bone steak with a salad or soup and your choice of side, Grilled Chicken over penne with alfredo sauce.” She keeps turning her head away from Sue. “Can I start you off with something to drink?”

Jack looks to Sue and signs ‘What do you want to drink?’

The hostess looks in shock to the blonde haired woman. “I’m sorry…I didn’t realize…” She starts to stutter.

Sue saves the young girl from further embarrassment. “It’s okay. I read lips but I couldn’t see your face all the time.” She explains. “As for what I would like to drink. I’ll have whatever Jack has.”

“So two house wines then please.” Jack answers, looking to Sue for approval. “Can you give us a few minutes to decide what to eat?”

The now blushing college student nods her head. “Please take your time. If you or your wife has any questions please don’t be afraid to ask.” Nancie leaves writing their drink orders on a bill.

Jack opens his mouth to correct the girl, but she disappears before he gets the chance. He reaches over the table and places his hand on top of Sue’s to get her attention. She lifts her head but he doesn’t remove his hand but instead brushes his index finger across her knuckles.

“Yes Jack?” Sue asks drawing his attention back.

“What are you thinking about getting?” The Special Agent asks. “And remember, you can get whatever you want, it’s my treat.”

“But Jack you treated last time. Let me get this one.” Sue protests

“No.” He argues back. “I like treating you. It makes me feel needed, just a bit.” He confesses.

“I do need you Jack.” Sue whispers not meeting his eyes. “You keep me grounded, you make me laugh and you make me feel wanted.” Her eyes fill with tears. “I’ve never been wanted before.”

Jack squeezes her hand and tilts her head up with his free one. He starts speaking once he knows that her eyes are focused on him. “Sue, sweetheart, you are very much wanted. I’m not sure why you don’t think so, but trust me.”

Nancie arrives with the wine, interrupting. “Here are your drinks. Have you decided on food yet?”

Sue shakes her head and looks down at the menu. “No sorry. We got to talking.” She explains.

“No problem. I’ll tell you what.” She smiles. “Why don’t you call me when you’re ready? Take as long as you like.” The hostess turns on her heel and walks away.

“I think that I’ll get the spinach and cheese mac” Sue says trying to ignore the past conversation.

Jack taps her hand. “I’m getting the steak special. Are you sure that you don’t want something else?” He looks concerned.

“Like what?” His partner asks looking confused.

“I don’t know. Maybe the lobster and crab with scallops and rice.” He points to it in the menu, still not letting go of her hand.

“That’s got to be the most expensive thing on the menu Jack.” Sue looks shocked.

“It doesn’t matter Sue.” Jack promises. “I want to spoil you.” He admits.

“It does look good.” She gives Jack a slight smile. “And if would make you happy.” She relents.

“I would.” He nods his head. “As would…” He trails off, unsure if his timing is right.

Sue starts to look worried. She places her hand on their joint ones. “What wrong Jack?”

Jack shifts uncomfortably in his chair. “Sue.” He pauses making sure he has her full attention. “There’s this thing I’ve been meaning to ask you about since you’ve decided to stay in D.C.” He swallows a lump that’s gathered in his throat. “I was wondering if you would be interested in…”

He feels a vibration against his hip. He looks down at the annoying phone attached to his belt. He removes it and hit the power off button.

Sue gives him a shocked look. “Jack what if it was the office?”

“You’re more important than work.” Jack says moving his hand to cup the love of his life’s cheek. “Sue, you are very important to me. You are the most important person in my life. And you are so wanted. I want you…” He pauses to watch her face, as her jaw drops. “I would love a chance to show you how much you mean to me. Would you allow me to court you?”

Sue blinks her eyes rapidly clearing her vision. “Did you just say C-O-U-R-T?” She asks finger spelling the confusing word.

Jack nods his head. “Yes. Not date Sue, but court. I want to be more than just your friend. I want us to grow together, learn together…” He trails off again. “Our relationship would be so much more than seeing if there is something there. It would be a method of making that something even better.”

Shaking her head Sue interrupts his confession. “Jack are you saying that you want to be with me?” She asks unsure.

Jack moves to kneel beside her. “Yes Sue, that’s exactly what I’m saying. Forever.” He admits.

Tears break through and run down Sue’s cheeks. “I want that too.”

Jack leans up and pulls her into a deep hug, pulling back just enough so she can read his lips. “Since that is the case, may I call this our first date?”

“Yes. Our last first date.” The clear laughter ringing through the restaurant. “But that mean Jack.” She starts to tease. “That we need to order something to eat.”

Jack moves back to his chair. “You are very right.”

Sue shakes her head. “I think I like the idea of us dating, if it means that you’ll start agreeing with me all the time.” She jokes.

Jack’s laughter joins hers as he signals to Nancie that they’re ready to order….

Way to go Laura! I am proud of you creating these fuzzies!

I think this will be the last one for today...thank you all for reading...I was so nervous about writting in a challange...but you've all made me feel very welcomed..

“So Jack. What do you think Sam is hiding?” Sue asks giving her partner a shy smile.

“I don’t know, but I intend to find out.” He smiles back. “The way she said Uncle David bothered me. It sounded like she was being sarcastic. I hope we can find out more tomorrow. But for now let’s just concentrate on us.”

Sue blushes as she nods her head. “Sounds like you made plans. Are you going to share?” She asks curiosity getting the better of her.

‘No plans.’ He signs, as their dinner plates are placed in front of them. Jack taps Nancie’s shoulder. “Would you mind bringing me an extra plate?” Jack asks blocking Sue’s view.

The girl just nods her head and walks away.

“What was that all about?” The woman sitting across from him asks.

“You’ll see.” Is the only response.

As Sue takes a bite of her dinner, Levi nudges her arm. “What do you want boy?” A small bark comes from the golden. “No, you’re not getting any of my meal. You’re on a diet.”

Levi turns to her purse and sticks his muzzle in. “Is it my phone?” Sue reaches her hand in and pulls out her vibrating black berry.

Jack notices her jaw drop and reaches over to get her attention. “What’s wrong Sue? Who is it?”

“It’s a text message from David.” She starts to explain. “He wants to know how Sam is doing.”

“Did he answer your question on which brother she belongs to?” Jack asks referring to the message Sue left on the ex’s machine.

“Yeah.” The blonde trails off. “He doesn’t have a brother, or a sister.” Comes the shocking answer. “He’s an only child.” She puts the device away.

“So that means that Sam can’t be his niece.” Jack concludes. “So the question now is why did he lie.”

“I really don’t want to think about it.” Sue confesses thinking to herself. ‘Did he lie to me the whole time we were together? Is Sam his little girl?’

“Thank you.” Jack says as he’s handed the extra plate. “SO buddy you want some steak?” He looks down at his lady’s companion.

“Don’t you dare Jack. Levi’s on a diet and I can’t have you spoiling him” Sue admonishes him.

“Aw come on Sue. He needs to be spoiled to. And I promise that I will walk him afterwards.” Jack gives Sue his best puppy dog pout while putting a plate full of food on the ground for his best dog.

Laughing and shaking her head she replies. “Fine. But he gets sick it’s your fault.”

Jack just nods his head and continues to eat.

Walking Levi under the stars through a park, Sue sighs in contentment.

‘You okay?’ Jack signs giving her a concerned look.

“Very.” She sighs again. “It feels like I’m in a Dream.” She admits. Sue looks up and gazes into the man she love’s eyes.

“Well, let me tell you. It’s not a Dream.” Jack says pulling Sue closer to him by her waist.

“That’s good.” She stops and let’s Levi off his leash. Looking up at Jack in nervousness she asks “You know those candy hearts that we chose today. Do you have them on you?”

“Yeah why?” He looks confused.

“Can you give them to me? Please.” She looks down briefly at the ground gathering her courage. She opens her hand and receives both hearts. “You can take this one back.” She says handing back the one that says ‘Start Now’.

Jack looks even more confused. “Sue, what’s going on?”

“What does this say?” Ignoring his question.

“It says ‘Kiss Me.’” He reads quietly. “ ‘Kiss Me’ Are you trying to tell me something?” He bends down slowly.

“I think that you should do as it says.” Sue blushes meeting his eyes.

“I can do that.” Jack gently places his mouth over hers.

Sue wraps her arms around his neck and shivers. Jack places on hand on her lower back and one on her neck under her hair. Her tongue sticks out slowing, attentively seeking acceptance. Jack’s lips part in shock, allowing Sue entrance.

He feels hands wondering to the back his pants. He pulls back quickly making Sue jump. “Sue what are you doing?”

She looks flushed and nervous. “I’m…I’m sorry Jack….ummm…I just thought that…” She turns her eyes down.

Jack tilts her head back up. “Sue look at me. I’m not mad, not even close.” He looks around. “I just want us to take this slow. I want all your Dreams to come true. No rushing.” He rubs his thumb against her cheek.

Sue nods her head in understanding. “Thank you Jack.” She allows herself to be pulled into the comfort of her partner’s arms. “I love you.” She whispers not knowing that Jack can hear her.

He gently forces her head up then frees his hands. ‘I love you to Sue. SO very much.’ He signs tears causing his eyes to blur. “That’s why I don’t want to date you. Dating implies that we don’t know where we are heading. I know where we are heading; I just don’t know how fast we will get there.”

Sue’s eyes grow wide at his admission. “Slow, but not to slow please.” She requests. Seeing Jack’s nod she pulls down his head and whispers. “ ‘Kiss Me.’” And he does...

That was just a cute way to get them to kiss....

Sorry it's been a few days...I had to go and baby sit my God daughters, who are both sick....now I think I've got what they have....not fun.
But here's one to keep you going....please let me know what you think...that post reply button is there for a reason....

"You must be a 'Wiz Kid'." Jack hears his best friend say as Sue and he walk into the hospital room, holding hands.



"I try." Sam smiles. "Jack, Sue. Good morning."



'Good morning. How are you feeling?' Sue asks in sign.



'I feel okay. Still tired. Agent Manning and Agent Williams were just asking about what happened.'



Jack looks to both Tara and Bobby for some answers.



"Yeah mate. D called us before we got to the office. The little Shelia's case landed on our laps." Bobby raises an eyebrow asking the silent question.



"I was telling them that I just moved to D.C. for school. I'm suppose to start on Monday at MIT Tech." The teen looking proud.



"Yes she's one smart kid." Tara agrees. "But what are you two doing here?"



"We promised coffee." Jack says simply handing Sam the cup. "Straight up."



Seeing the confused faces on her friends faces Sue continues. "David called me last night asking me to check on his niece who was in a car accident."



"A car accident?" Bobby questions looking strangely at the teen. "She wasn't in a car accident. She was shot."



Both Jack and Sue's faces show their shock "Maybe you would like to explain." Jack sits down after pulling two more chairs to the bed side.



Sam looks down at Levi. "Come on up bud, I could use your support." She offers and confesses patting the bed beside her.



The golden doesn't even need to think twice. He makes himself comfortable, while Sam gathers her courage to tell the whole story. "I was born in Chicago. It was just me and my mom. You see my father left mom when she told him she was pregnant with me. Things were going great until mom got lung cancer. The doctors didn't catch it in time." She brushes away a tear.



Jack reaches over past Bobby and gives the young girl a squeeze of comfort. "Thanks Jack. After that I was moved from foster home to foster home. I still studied hard, but got introduced to the wrong group of people." She pauses. "I became a member of the Hawks. It was a place for me to be me. I never did the drugs, or the sex or anything else. There was never any pressure to do so."



She pauses to take a sip of her coffee. "This tastes great, thanks. Even though I was never involved, I did see things. When I told Marc that I would be leaving, because of school and everything, he told me that there was no leaving. Ever."



"Who are the Hawks?" Sue asks looking confused. Jack put his arm around her shoulders ready to explain.



"They are the major drug gang in the Central States." Sam interrupts. "Which is why they followed me. I was walking towards the college from the train station when I was shot." The red head explains bluntly.



Tara and Sue look to each other in understanding. "You were really brave to choose the type of life away from the gang." The computer tech points out. "But I have one question. If David is your uncle why aren't you with him….well not now…but I mean when your mom died?"



Sam looks to Sue and Jack worried. "I'm sorry. David Palmer isn't my uncle. I wish he didn't tell you that." She looks down in anger and embarrassment.



"We figured that out last night." Jack says. "We spoke with him after we met you. He doesn't have any brothers or sisters, therefore can't have any nieces." He explains kindly.



"Right. I don't even know why I called him. I knew he wouldn't care. You see, David is my father. He's hasn't wanted anything to do with me. He gave up all of his rights to custody when mom died." The girl says in a rush, tears running down her face.



Sue get up out of her chair and climbs onto the bed. Pulling the girl into her arms she hugs her. "It's alright. We're here. I'm so sorry, but you're not alone." She whispers



A few minutes pass and only the sobs of the young college student are heard. "I'm sorry, I shouldn't have done that." Sam says pulling back. "But thanks."



"We'll get started on this case." Tara promises. "Is there anything we can do to help you?" Her kind eyes meet Sam's.



"If you could bring me a paper for apartment listings. I need to find a place to stay. The college said that they would hold my place in dorm only until yesterday. I also need to get registered. I have the paper work done, but if someone could drop it off for me, that would be a thing off my shoulders. The other thing that I want, one can help me with, but thanks." Sam looks hopeful.



Jack holds his hand out. "Give me your papers. Sue and I will drop them off for you. And I'll talk with the dean and see if there is space in a dorm for you."



"Thanks Jack." She hands him the completed papers and her id card. "They may want to see id so there mine is. I don't have a driver's license so that will have to do."



"We'll make sure it all goes through." Sue says giving the young girl a gentle hug. "You get some more sleep." She kindly orders.



"I will." Sam yawns. "I'm glad that you two are together." She points to Jack and Sue. "David told me about both of you, that's why he left D.C." She says tiredly.



She quickly slips into sleep as the four agents leave the room.



"Now Sparky. Is there any truth to what was just said?" Bobby teases seeing Sue's blush.



"Yes Crash it's true, but if you and Tara could keep quiet about it for a few days, that would be great." Jack admits.



"Why do I have a feeling that one of you is a candy short?" Tara asks giving a big smile.



"Actually Tara, both of us used a candy heart last night." Sue says as she and Jack walk into the elevator before a shocked Bobby and Tara….
