Jack seized a moment with Bobby when they were coming back from turning in the team's month end reports to Randy. "So... I've decided that it's time."

Bobby raised his brows. "That so, Sparky?" He asked casually. "Time for what?"

Jack rolled his eyes. "I'm going to propse to Sue next Saturday." He explained.

"Not on the 14th?" Bobby asked, a little surprised. He would have thought that a relationship started on Halloween would have made Jack a little more sentimental about special days.

"Too cliche." Jack said, dismissively. "I'd like to think that I'd be ahead of the game by proposing on the Saturday before."

Bobby studied him. "Congrats Mate." He said, choosing his next words carefully. "She's a good woman, you know, Jack... a very wise woman." Jack nodded. Bobby slapped him on the shoulder. "Good on ya Sparky. You've finally come back to your senses about her." He looked at Jack sideways. "T minus 8 and counting, eh?" Bobby laughed heartily at Jack's wide eyed stare.

"Erm, yeah. Guess I need to go ring shopping." Jack mumbled, running a hand through his hair. "That's not much time."

Bobby laughed harder. "I happen to have it on very good authority that Sue will be shopping with Tara on Sunday." He made a face. "Wedding dresses."

It was Jack's turn to laugh. "Aw... come on Crash." He teased. "I'd think you'd have a vested interest in wedding dresses."

Bobby shook his head. "Sure.... but Tara says it's bad luck for me to see her dress. Besides... D's having the Superbowl party, right?"

Jack nodded. "Yep. You're rooting for 'Cousin' Peyton, right?" Bobby laughed. "I could go before the game starts, I guess."

"Yeah." Bobby agreed. "Sparky... on the current topic. Would you be my Best Man?" He asked.

Jack nodded with a grin. "Only if you return the favor when we set a date."

Bobby slapped him on the back and agreed as they returned to the bullpen.

Yep... didn't everyone who's last name was Manning claim Peyton as a relative on Sunday? and vice versa... I'm sure everyone not actually related to Rex Grossman was sure to point out the non relation part of it.... LOL wink.gif

Bobby stopped by Tara's desk. "Step one is complete from my list. Jack has agreed to be my Best Man." He said.

Tara grinned. "Guess I'll be asking Sue to be the Maid of Honor." She frowned. "How many others are you asking? D... Myles?"

Bobby shrugged. "Why? What were you thinking?" He asked. "We haven't discussed it yet." He pointed out.

Tara rolled her eyes and wrinkled her nose at him. "Yeah. That's what we're doing now, Koala Boy. Discussing it." She said. "I need to know who all will be shopping for dresses when we go shopping on Sunday. I need to ask them you know."

"Ah. Yes. You know, we also need to figure out where we're actually having this wedding of ours." Bobby reminded her.

"I know. The only things I've come up with are Myles or D's backyards or the Jeffersonian ball room. Tempe said she could get it for us cheap."

"That might be too big." Bobby chuckled when she wrinkled her nose again. He kissed the tip of it lightly. "We're having a fairly small wedding, right? The team, a few extras we've met along the way.... Mum and Pop?"

Tara nodded slowly. "Right." She said, curious about the idea look that just popped into his eye. If he was a cartoon, a huge lightbulb would be blinking above his head. "What are you thinking?"

"Cafe Aria." He said, simply. Tara raised a brow at him, waiting. "The dining room is big enough. If we could get Libby and Jake to remove the tables we don't need from the front half.. you know... where our alcove is?" He asked, mentioning their favorite area of the dining room. Tara nodded. "Then... there would be enough chairs to make a little aisle and we could stand up in the alcove area. The tables left in the room would be enough for our reception. I guess another option would be that big private dining room at Gianni's."

Tara thought about it. "I'd rather get married in the atmosphere of Cafe Aria rather than Gianni's. It is our special place. I love the idea. And you know.... given Libby's complete adoration of Jack...." They both looked at Jack, causing him to look back nervously and give a little nervous wave. Tara giggled. "He just might be able to convince Libby it would be the smartest move they could ever make."

"And if I'm not mistaken, that sounds like job number one on the Best Man's checklist I haven't given him yet." Bobby said.

"So who are you not using? I need to figure out who's going to walk me down the aisle of our choice." Tara said. "Should I just ask Booth? After all, he did sell me once." She said, grinning when Bobby scowled. "Oh... guess not. Maybe if you're going to ask D and Myles... because I would like to ask Lucy and Tempe.... Maybe I should just see if Garrett will walk me down the aisle."

Bobby liked this idea much better than asking Booth. "Sounds like a plan. Why don't you ask Garrett, Tara luv." Bobby heartily gave her his stamp of approval to the idea, kissing her soundly before he headed to his desk.

The afternoon flew by and at 6, Tara made the suggestion for a team dinner at Gianni's. "Since it's Friday and all.... " She said, shrugging. Knowing full well that they had some questions to ask the rest of the team before she could procede with dress shopping.

D flipped open his phone to call Donna. When he'd hung up, he looked at them and grinned. "We'll be there. Donna says she wasn't cooking tonight anyway." The rest of the team agreed quickly and they soon headed to the restaurant.

They enjoyed the time together, laughing and joking over their usual appetizers and drinks. Lucy looked around and sighed. "You know... it's actually been a while since we've done a Gianni's dinner." She said. The last time they'd actually pulled a dinner was when they were working on their Halloween case.

"Lunch and brunch don't count?" Bobby teased. Lucy glared briefly at him, but soon grinned. "Well... Tara and I did actually want to talk with you all." All eyes swung towards them. Tara giggled. "Jack has agreed to be my Best Man. So... D... Myles, would you be willing to stand with us as well?" Bobby asked.

D grinned and nodded. Myles raised a brow. "A groomsman? Moi?" He asked, resting a hand on his chest.

Bobby scowled. "Yes Harvard... you. The only opening left is groomsman. Tara doesn't need another groom." They all laughed. "You better say yes." Bobby threatened. "She'll make me use Booth if you don't."

Tara swatted him. "I would not! D would just be escorting two rather than one." She told him. "Besides, it's not nice to threaten him to do it."

Myles rolled his eyes. "It would be my absolute pleasure to lend my presence to your day of enchantment."

Bobby looked at Tara. "Was that a yes?" He asked in a loud whisper.

Tara grinned. "I believe it was." She looked at Lucy. "Sue's agreed to be Maid of Honor, so Lucy... will you stand with us?"

Lucy shrieked and started giggling as she came around the table to hug Tara. "Of course!"

"Cool." Tara said. "So that will be you and Tempe..." She smiled.

Myles rolled his eyes again. "So, dare I assume that I'll be escorting the esteemed Dr. Brennan?"

"You shouldn't assume anything, Myles." Tara retorted. "You know what that makes out of you and me." she said smartly as the table burst into laughter.

The rest of the evening together flew by as the guys congregated to discuss football and the girls gathered around and looked through Tara's ever present stack of bridal magazines.

Jack is so funny when it comes to any member of his team!! I'm glad Tara set everyone straight at the briefing!!!

So, Jack is going to move forward!! Sue will be pleased - otherwise the only thing she could do is propose to HIM!!!

Tara and Bobby's wedding seems to be coming together!! Garrett walking Tara down the aisle is a good choice!! I think she suggested Booth just to rile Bobby!!!

Love the team dinner!! It's great to see friends enjoy each other's company so much!! A true family!!!

Sunday, 2/4... 1 PM... Tyson's Corner Center

Tara slumped in her chair at the food court and closed her eyes. "Tara?" Lucy asked, placing a hand gently on her arm. "Are you ok?"

Tara cracked one eye open and looked at her. "Sure." She said, with forced cheerfulness. "Don't you just adore shopping for wedding dresses?" She asked, sarcastically.

Sue giggled. "Poor, poor Tara. I know we've been just so frustrating for you." She said, referring to the multiple, lengthy discussions that had broken out every time she tried to get them to try on different dresses in different colors. Everyone had an opinion of what color or style they looked best in.

Temperance Brennan frowned, but shut her mouth at a look from her best friend, Angela Montenegro. "Tara... sweetie...." Angela said. "What colors do you think of the most when you think about Bobby?" The others were silent, curious as to where Angela's artist mind would take the questioning.

Tara sighed. "Well... there's always green. And sometimes there's more blue in my mind. Probably because he wears blue just as well as green and it changes his eye color." Her eyes popped open. "Wait... did I just pick a color?" She asked excitedly.

Donna chuckled. "Sort of. More of a color family, Tara honey."

Tempe's eyes narrowed. "Although sometimes more blue than green would be like a shimmer... irridescent?" She pondered aloud, earning a smug look from Angela. Angela had never thought she'd hear Tempe ever utter the word shimmer of her own accord.

"Oh... a blue green irridescent sounds nice." Lucy sighed.

"But light or dark?" Sue asked, studying Tara.

Tara pursed her lips. "Well the wedding's in June. Light, I think." She glanced at Angela, wanting an artistic impression. "Don't you think?"

Angela smiled at her. "If that's what you see in your minds eye, sweetie. Sounds like a nice shimmery aqua with some blue undertones if you really want to know what I think." She smiled. "What do you envision the flowers as being?"

Tara looked over at Donna, knowing that Donna's awareness of roses was only rivaled by Myles's passion for his rose garden. "You know those one roses that Myles has?" She glanced over at Sue and Lucy. "The really pale ones?"

Sue nodded. "The ones that start out so pale they're practically cream colored?"

"And then they slowly blush to the ends?" Donna continued.

"Until they're the most lovely shade of pink?" Lucy finished. "Those would look really nice with an aqua dress."

"Sounds like they'd match her cheeks when we catch her thinking about Bobby." Tempe teased.

Tara grinned. "True.... many a blush has stained my cheeks because of that man." She quipped. They all laughed. Tara took a sip of her mocha. "Everyone likes the idea, right? Sue, it will make your coloring show just perfect."

Sue nodded. "And it should nicely accent your eyes, Tempe."

Tempe rolled the aforementioned eyes until she was nudged by Angela. "Oh... right. Lucy, light colors have always played off so well against dark skin. You'll be gorgeous." she said, seriously, with a sideways glance at Angela for approval on girltalk done right.

"Well it sounds as though you've just figured out more than just the bridesmaids dresses." Donna pointed out.

"Exactly. Now we just have to go leave no rack unspun and no dressing room undressed in and find those dresses!" Angela laughed.

"And find my dress..." Tara sighed again. Out of all the things there were to planning a wedding, this part was turning out to be the hardest. Tara grinned, remembering Bobby's interests in her wedding dress. "Do you think we'll be able to find one with lots of those teeny tiny buttons?" Lucy and Sue dissolved into giggles remembering her sharing that story in the bathroom as Tara tried to explain to the other's how that had been Bobby's idea.

Sunday…2/4…. 10 PM

“Hey…”

“Hey yourself, Tara luv.”

“Did you have a good time rooting for cousin Peyton?” Tara teased. She could almost hear him roll his eyes over the phone.

“At least he won. What about you? Did you find your dress?”

Tara sighed. “No. We didn’t find the bridesmaid dresses either. But you’ll be happy to know that we have a color scheme.”

“And?” Bobby chuckled.

“Aqua. The flowers are those creamy blush tipped roses like the ones Myles has in his garden.” Tara held her breath, waiting for him to weigh in.

“Sounds nice, Tara luv.” His voice, with the approval she’d been seeking, caressed her, even though he wasn’t with her. “Now… about your dress… I’ve come up with a list of requirements that will be necessary for me to find in your dress.”

Tara giggled. “What? 75 teeny tiny mother of pearl buttons? All of them needing to be unbuttoned before I can get out of the dress… isn’t that enough?” She teased.

“No…. TARA!” Bobby whined. He paused waiting for her giggles to fade. “Could you at least make them medium sized buttons?”

Tara’s giggles were contagious enough that he couldn’t help but join in. “Stop it! Bobby… trust me. You’ll love my dress when I find it and you finally get to see it.”

“As long as it makes you happy, Tara luv.”

“You make me happy.” Tara said. “I don’t need anything else.”

Bobby found himself speechless. He cleared his throat lightly and swiped at his cheeks, which had grown suspiciously moist. “Ah…”

“Yeah… I know, Koala Boy.” Tara said softly. “I’d better let you go… we’ve got a long week ahead of us.”

Bobby’s smile came through in his voice. “All right. Tara… I love you. Sleep tight.”

“I know, I know… Don’t let the dingos bite.” Tara finished. “I love you too. See you in the morning.”

“Yep. Tomorrow…” Bobby agreed as they hung up the phone and headed to their beds, thoughts of their 'ever after' coloring their dreams with love.

Friday… 2/9…. Bullpen… 5 PM

Jack scowled at Bobby from across the bullpen. He had no idea how Bobby had remained so calm the week before he proposed to Tara. ‘Maybe because he didn’t tell me.’ He thought ruefully. Bobby had taken whatever chance he could to provide Jack with the latest standing on his countdown. Jack stared at his calendar, Bobby’s teasing words of this morning, replaying on a mental loop. ‘T minus 1 and counting, eh, Sparky?’ Jack jumped when he felt a hand on his shoulder. He looked up guiltily at his girlfriend.

Sue was looking at him with a very amused expression. “Well… Sparky.” She teased. “You’ve been deep in thought all day.” She commented, her expression growing serious. “Everything ok?”

Jack nodded and stood up, pulling her into his arms and kissing her softly. “Just thinking.” He told her as he helped her with her scarf.

She raised an eyebrow at him. “You’ve gone unexpectedly deep on me?” She teased, brushing his hair back from his forehead. Jack made a face. Sue smiled. “Sounds more like you need a decompression. Right Levi?” Levi barked his agreement. Sue nodded. “Dinner and a movie it is. Good plan Levi.” She patted him on the head. Levi barked twice. “Oh… Right. Jack, Levi wanted to know if you’d come over for your favorite ice cream dessert after the movie. He begged me to make it last night.”

Jack laughed, his impending stress disappearing with Levi’s suggestion. “Levi’s a pretty convincing guy. How could I say no to eyes like those?” They looked down at Levi’s sad expression. Jack pulled Sue close and brushed a kiss across her lips. “Great plan. Dinner and a movie. I suppose you’ve got all the details all picked out?” Sue grinned and took his hand as they left the bullpen.

Bobby chuckled as he watched them leave. He supposed he’d been a little rough on Sparky, what with the countdown and all. But he knew that it would be hard for Jack to focus on his plan if not reminded. His laugh died on his lips when his gaze locked with Tara’s fierce glare. He gulped as it dawned on him that she was glaring. “Oh… Hey Tara luv.” He raised a brow at her. “What plans do we have for the evening?”

Tara pressed her lips together as she looked at him. She’d overheard some of his needling of Jack this week and wasn’t sure if she approved. “I’m not certain you deserve to have plans tonight, Bobby Manning.” She said with a frown. “I’ve heard you teasing Jack all week and I want to know why.”

Bobby scratched his head. Jack hadn’t said he couldn’t tell Tara. He supposed since the question in question was to be questioned the next day, it would be ok. He grinned; a rakish grin that he knew would drive her insane. “Dinner and then I’ll tell you.” He said with a wink.

Tara’s resolve melted with that wink and she felt her knees go wobbly. “Fine.” She managed. Tara was still staring at him but managed to put a few words together. “Dinner’s good.” Her eyes softened. “You know…” She trailed off as she walked towards him. “It’s been a while since…” She lowered her head and whispered a suggestion in his ear.

Bobby raised a brow and smirked. “Oh alright. You know… the music for the laser show tonight is Mojo Gogo.” He grinned at the delighted look that appeared on her face. “So what say you, Tara? Got a hamster in your heart tonight?”

Tara giggled. “Let’s get going then.” She said, laughing as she hurried to grab her things and join him at the door. “Hey Bobby… don’t you think I should walk down the aisle to that song?"”

Bobby groaned, but a glance at her confirmed that she was only teasing. “Well, now… Tara luv, I don’t think walking down the aisle to it would be appropriate.” He said. “But we could walk out to it…” He said with a wink.

He’d calculated her response to the suggestion correctly. As they stood in the elevator, slowly making their way underground to the parking garage, Tara stepped close and stretched up on her tiptoes to kiss him. “I love you.” She sighed against his lips.

Bobby smiled and kissed her again. “The feeling’s mutual, you know.” He said when he pulled away as the elevator gasped out a ping to let them know they’d finally arrived.

“You’ve had a hamster in your heart since that concert, haven’t you?” Tara teased.

“No… not a hamster.” He said, cheerfully. “Just a Tara luv.” He grabbed her by the hand to lead her to his car. Bobby stopped short and almost wrenched her arm off when she kept walking. He stared, mouth dropped open when he saw who was waiting by his car.

Tara stopped and looked back at him. “Bobby, what’s wrong?” Bobby could only stare towards his car. Tara turned and looked, eyes widening when she saw who was waiting. “What’s she doing here?” She muttered.

“Special Agent Manning…”

Bobby nodded curtly as he walked forward. Tara trailed, staying in the shadow. “Darcy D’Angelo.” He said shortly.

Tara’s eyes narrowed and she pursed her lips. She had a very healthy… extremely valid… dislike for Darcy. Not only had the woman inadvertently derailed her relationship with Bobby before it had even a chance to start. Just by her very memory. It had taken 6 months for them to actually find their way back to that starting point. But Darcy had actually had the audacity to cheat on Bobby at the same time that he had been convincing himself he was falling deeper and deeper in love with her.

“It’s been a long time, Agent Manning. I’ve missed you so much.” Tara could hear the underlying seductive purr in Darcy’s tone and it set her teeth on edge.

“Well, if you’ve come all the way here just to tell me that, you’ve wasted plane fare.” Bobby said coolly, frowning at her.

“Oh come on, Bobby. You don’t really mean that.”

“I told you when you called last summer that I was done with you. Once again, you’re only here to see how you’re doing.” He said.

“Well, I’ve chosen to forgive you for that conversation. Clearly your friends were influencing you.” Darcy said.

“Clearly you are completely delusional.” Tara muttered under her breath. It was too much to take. She stepped out of the shadow and shot an annoyed glance at Bobby for even letting her talk as much as she had. “He doesn’t need your forgiveness.” She said hotly.

“Oh, Agent Williams. Long time... wish it was no see. I certainly had no idea you were lurking in the shadows.”

“Yeah. Well, it hasn’t been long enough.” Tara stated, her eyes narrow slits as she glared at Darcy.

Darcy’s laughter trilled in the empty garage. “Oh Bobby, she’s so sweet. Tiny little mousy thing like her defending your decision.”

Tara stepped closer, ignoring the pointed look Bobby was giving her. “What part of he’s done with you don’t you understand?” She asked, exasperated. “You were cheating on him, Darcy. Don’t forgive him for sticking to his decision about you.”

Darcy looked at her in disdain. “And how is that nerdy code breaker of yours? Stanley, wasn’t it?” She asked, with a dismissive wave of her hand.

“I’m sure he’s fine.” Tara replied coolly, crossing her arms so her ring glinted in the dim light.

“Obviously he’s doing well if he could give you that.” Darcy remarked. “Why would he want to?” she muttered under her breath. Darcy never really cared for Tara. She found her to be too quiet.... yet too quirky to not be annoying. And she'd always suspected that Tara had a little thing for Bobby.

“Look, Darcy…” Bobby started, taking a step towards her.

“Bobby.” Tara said, warningly. Bobby studied her and gave a tiny nod to show he’d let her lead.

“Bobby” Darcy mimicked. She sauntered around the front of his car. “I’ve always admired how you all protect each other. So family like. Do you always keep each other in check like that?” She sneered down her nose at Tara. Standing flat footed, Darcy had a good 2 inches on Tara. She was wearing 3-inch heels so she was practically towering over Tara as she stared down at her with disdain. “Once again Tara, Stanley seems to be doing great if he could afford to give you that.” She stared at the ring on Tara’s finger. ‘Dang! Why does she seem to really have everything? I think that rock’s from Tiffany’s.’ Darcy thought jealously.

Tara bit her lip and stepped closer to look up at Darcy. “He’s fine. His wife is fine and their 3 day old baby is also fine.” She raised a brow at Darcy. “The ring’s not from him. I haven’t seen him since April.”

“Oh. Well, I’m glad you’ve found someone who can put up with all your personality flaws. Now, Bobby, let’s go have dinner and catch up.” Darcy said, turning away from Tara.

“Now, you listen here. I don’t think you understand. It’s so simple, I’m sure your journalistic brain won’t require the presses to stop while you process it.” Tara drew herself to full height and looked evenly at Darcy, who turned back to stare at her. Darcy’s eyes narrowed. “You screwed up. You cheated you left. He was willing to follow you but you told him you really didn’t want him to come. How am I doing so far?” She glanced at Bobby briefly. He smiled reassuringly, he liked where she was going with this. “You can’t just waltz back into town, Darcy, and expect that everything is ready for you to just pick up where you left it in shambles.”

“You don’t know anything, you geeky little cyberbrat!” Darcy shouted, a spray of spit flying on to Tara’s face. She clenched her hands into fists and stepped closer.

Tara calmly wiped her face, her eyes smoldering in her anger. “Sorry Darcy. This is life and you, sadly, are the one who doesn’t know anything.” Tara said.

“This is life.” Darcy mimicked, with a laugh. “Yeah, well then shorty, you know that life isn’t fair and its high time you got over your silly little crush. Bobby would never be into a little geek like you when he could have someone like me. And you’ve found someone, so forgive me when I do drive off with Bobby tonight and we rekindle everything from where we left off.”

Tara thought hard about slapping Darcy, just to wipe the smirk off that smug little face. But that wouldn’t be considered appropriate actions befitting a federal agent and Tara hated anything to do with unfit actions to perform as a federal agent. “Livings easy with eyes closed, isn’t it Darcy?” She asked. “California must be on a completely different logic level. It’s been 10 months since you left. You were cheating on him a year ago. How’s that guy? Wasn’t he a linguistics professor?” Darcy glared and mumbled something. “What? He dumped you? Oh, that’s just too darn bad for Darcy.” Tara tut-tutted. “You listen and listen good, you…you…” Tara stomped her foot. “Just never mind what you are. Bobby doesn’t want you or need you. He’s happy. He’s getting married.” Darcy paled and looked at Bobby. He nodded. Tara stepped in, two steps away from being toe to toe with Darcy and her voice dropped. “And yes, Darcy dear. You’re wrong about him. Bobby is very… very interested in me. And how I feel is not some silly little crush. So in this instance, you’ll need to forgive him for leaving you in the dust tonight because he’s already got plans for ‘ever after’ with the woman of his dreams. And that’s me… not you.” Tara glared at Darcy.

Darcy let loose a shriek of anger and stepped quickly towards Tara. She reached for Tara’s hair, like she was going to tear her hair out. “You’re wrong!” She screamed.

Tara quickly sidestepped her, caught Darcy’s arm and twisted it behind her in one move. “I’m not and you’re not authorized to be in this section of the garage.” Tara took a deep breath. “You’re also not authorized to be in Bobby’s life…. Our life. So you need to get your little, two-timing butt back on the plane and get back to your side of the country.” Tara let her go with a slight shove. Darcy stumbled away from her, looking to Bobby for assistance.

“I told you already Darcy. I’ve been fine without you. I don’t want you or need you. So yes, please take the advice of my soon to be wife and get back from where you came.” Bobby nodded once to her and opened the car door for Tara before going around and getting in.

Darcy stared after the car as it pulled out of the space and drove out of the garage. After all she’d done to come and claim him again…. He’d fallen in love with the cybergeek.

whistling.gif Thank you one... thank you all.... and yes... wink.gif Darcy truly is gone for good. I have no idea how she managed to book a round trip ticket into the parking garage... but... **shrug** what can you do? stitch.gif I love that my favorite Disney character has made it to the smiley list... wink.gif I swear... I've never had any intention of writing Darcy, so it was just as big of a surprise for me when she showed up at Bobby's car... if only they would have driven Tara's car that day.... LOL

Bobby drove in silence, still trying to process the fact that Darcy had shown up out of no where. He shook his head to clear his thoughts. He glanced at Tara, surprised to see a tear or two, tracking down her cheeks. “Hey…” She glanced at him. “Tara luv, what’s wrong?”

Tara shook her head. “Sorry, Bobby. I’m thinking I’m not really in the mood for a laser show tonight. Maybe later.” Her voice trembled slightly as she spoke.

“Absolutely. We can order in.” Bobby said. He grabbed her hand and pressed a kiss to the back of it. “Thank you, by the way.” She looked at him in confusion. “I really did tell her all that in like August. It was after we all ran into each other at Whole Foods that one night. You can ask Sue, she inadvertently eavesdropped on it. I don’t know why she thought that showing up would make a difference.”

Tara wiped her eyes and looked at him. “You’re irresistible.” She grinned, shrugging. “She realized she was stupid to have turned her back on you.”

Bobby grinned. “So Stanley and Sheryl had their baby? You never mentioned it.”

“Yeah. A boy.” Tara shook her head. “They named him Sawyer.” She wrinkled her nose. “Sheryl apparently watches a lot of the show LOST and couldn’t justify naming their son, Sayid. So Sawyer became her name of choice. My source said she’d become fixated on their family being all S names.”

Bobby frowned. “Whatever, right?” He grinned. “Oh, did I forget to tell you that Jack had a lovely conversation with Libby yesterday?”

Tara brightened. “Yes, you did forget to tell me that. How did it go?”

“Well, given that our first date was there and it was where we ate before I proposed, Sparky said Libby just about bounced off the ceiling in excitement.” Tara giggled. “She said they’d be honored to rearrange the dining room for a wedding. She’ll be expecting your call by the end of the month to firm up the details.”

“That’s the best thing I’ve heard since we left the elevator.” Tara said as they parked at her building.

Bobby pulled her close to his side as they walked in. “You really ok about earlier?” He asked quietly as she opened the door.

“It was unexpected.” Tara admitted. “But I’m glad for the chance to set her straight now, rather than later.” She locked the door and shrugged out of her coat and jacket. Bobby took a seat on the couch and loosened his tie. He watched her as she kicked off her shoes and walked towards him. He could see she was actually battling tears so he opened his arms, inviting her to snuggle into him. Tara sank down on the couch and rested her head on his chest, giving in to the tears she’d been fighting against the whole way home. The few that trickled down her cheeks in the car were nothing compared to the torrent of tears that were unleashed on Bobby’s shirtfront.

Bobby’s arms tightened around her and he alternately pressed kisses to her temple and murmured soothing sounds to try and calm her down. The evening slipped away, neither of them caring about anything but being there for each other.

dry.gif Sure... great point Kav... but who would have thought the cheater would think ... hmm... would be delusional enough to assume that they'd be welcomed back right where things were before they left. Maybe she didn't truly get the point that Bobby knew he was being cheated on. **scratches head** No... I recall him telling her that clearly.... **If you need to see it.... check out 'How Am I Doing?' ... it's in my finished file. wink.gif

Saturday… 2/10…. 7 am…. Tara’s

Tara woke up and snuggled in closer to Bobby. She chuckled softly at the fact that every time either of them stayed over at the others house, Bobby still insisted that the original arrangement of her under the sheets, him on top of them, was the only way… until after the wedding… that they would share a bed. Tara sighed. Last night had been the emotional crash of a very long and trying week. Sunday… a long day shopping with no luck. Monday and Tuesday… typical work stress. Tara found that Wednesday had been the first straw to the end. That was the day she got the email letting her know about the birth of little Sawyer Boone Abbott. Tara rolled her eyes and sighed lightly. ‘Stanley deserves whatever he gets. I wonder if he had any idea she was going to want to name the baby after TV characters.’ Tara glanced up and saw Bobby was still asleep. Thursday had dawned and she found herself calming a very upset Tempe. ‘Booth!’ she thought impatiently. They had been dealing with an escaped killer and Tempe had come under a deeply... creepy... personal attack as he went after her friends and colleagues and then shown up in her home. Booth had given her a bit of a brush off afterwards and she’d come to Tara instead of Angela to be able to truly vent about her partner.

‘But last night…’ Tara thought. “She was truly the last and final straw.” She muttered quietly. She’d never thought to worry about Darcy. After all, she was the one who cheated and left Bobby. ‘How dare she think he’d even consider taking her back.’ Tara sighed. She was more frustrated by the thoughts Darcy had left unsaid, but had left behind. Tara had never doubted Bobby’s love for her… but now….

“Ooh… so deep in thought already.” Bobby’s amused voice broke through her thoughts. She glanced up to find his eyes crinkled in laughter and his dimples popping out at her.

“Yeah… whatever.” Tara mumbled.

“Tara, you’re not still upset about last night, are you?” He asked, studying her carefully.

“Not upset, per se.” Tara admitted. “But she left behind thoughts that I’d never thought about.”

Bobby kissed her forehead. “Tara luv, repeat after me. There’s nothing to worry about…” He paused until she said it. “I love you, you love me…” Once again waiting for her. “It’s the real thing…” She said it back. “Or there would be no ring.” Tara burst into giggles before she could finish.

“Thanks, Koala Boy.” She said, still laughing. “You sure know how to put things.” Tara leaned up and kissed him. “Now… you never told me Jack’s secret.” She mock glared at him.

Bobby chuckled. “That’s right. Some unpleasant person interrupted our plans.” He kissed her temple. “You know, it’s still Mojo Gogo at the laser show tonight. Shall we actually go on an official date?”

Tara grinned. “Of course. Sounds like fun. Now…” She poked him in the ribs. “What were you teasing Jack about all week?”

“Hey!” Bobby complained. “No fair poking.” His eyes glinted dangerously at her. But Tara just grinned, her own eyes sparkling. Bobby rolled his eyes. “Well, Tara luv… it would seem that our dear Sparky has taken quite a liking to the fair Sue Thomas and has plans on asking her to be the fair Sue Hudson this evening.”

Tara squealed and kissed him. “That’s great! I know Sue will say yes.” She rolled out of bed and Bobby laughed at her. Her hair was sticking up every which way and for some reason he not only found it to be adorable, but very amusing. Tara stuck her tongue out at him. “Well… not all of us can wake up looking as perfect as you.” She huffed as she grabbed some clothes and went to change for the day in the bathroom.

Saturday… 2/10… 9 PM…. Sue and Lucy’s

Jack and Sue sat on the couch, talking softly. He had treated her to a wonderful night of dinner and dancing. Sue was feeling slightly nervous, wondering if he was truly going to make the move she wanted him to. “Jack, tonight has been lovely. I’ve really enjoyed myself.” She said, brushing a kiss across his cheek.

Jack smiled. “We really do need to go out like that more often. Seems like we’re just doing dinner or a movie.” He kissed her forehead. “We don’t even hang out with Bobby and Tara that often anymore. Not like we used to before they were engaged.”

Sue nodded and held her breath. ‘What a lead in. Come on Sparky, use it to your advantage.’ She mentally encouraged him.

Lucy hung back in the shadows. She’d retreated to her room soon after they had arrived at the apartment but strained her ear from the doorway trying to hear what they were talking about. Lucy was sure that they would be getting engaged soon. There were just some things that a matchmaker knew. Lucy flushed. Then again there was Jack’s preoccupation with searching jewelry store websites this week. She’d caught him surfing the ring pages. She looked down at Levi. “Maybe this is it, buddy.” She said, smiling when he huffed a sigh. He’d been looking forward to this day just as long as Lucy had.

Jack took Sue’s hand and kissed the back of it. He looked into her eyes, making sure she was watching his lips. “Sue, we’ve had a great time over the last months. And I for one, am very upset with myself for letting us hang with no direction for so long.”

Sue smiled. “Good. I’m upset with you about that too.” She teased.

WHATEVER Jack signed. He shook his head. “You’re impossible, you know that?” Sue looked at him in confusion. “Impossible to forget. You’re in my mind and heart always. I… Sue, I love you.” He looked at her, total adoration in his eyes.

Sue leaned forward and kissed him. “Jack…” She rested her forehead on his, looking into his eyes. “Is there something you’re trying to ask me?” She prodded, holding her breath in anticipation.

Jack groaned and tangled a hand in her hair, pulling her close so he could capture her lips in a searing kiss. He pulled away and looked at her. “Sue, will you…” Sue’s heart soared with the anticipated question and her answer leapt to her lips. “Be going shopping with Tara again tomorrow?”

“Ye…” Sue’s answer died on her lips. She blinked at him. She shook her head slightly, to clear the fog that had rolled in while she was waiting for his question. “Yes. We are going shopping with Tara again.” Her disappointment was evident in her tone.

In her room, Lucy had started to bounce excitedly when she heard the beginning of his question. She groaned and slapped her forehead when she heard the actual question. “Jack Hudson!” She muttered. She’d never met a guy who spent all his time prepping for specific things only to open his mouth and ask something completely of topic. She banged her head lightly on the wall, Levi looking at her in concern. She shrugged and he lay down at her feet and put his paws over his eyes.

“Oh, good. I’ll… um… I’ll talk to you tomorrow sometime then.” Jack said, mentally slapping himself for not executing the question he’d rehearsed all week. His sniper skills of timing and perfection in execution had gone sadly by the wayside. “I’d better be going so you can be fully rested for the shopping marathon.” He kissed her again and got off the couch.

Sue followed him to the door and stood by the open door as he finished putting his coat on. “Ok, Jack. We’ll talk tomorrow after shopping.” She said, kissing him good night before he walked out the door and headed down the hall. Sue shut the door and locked it, leaning up against it. She looked up when she felt Levi’s cold nose nudge her hand. She raised her head to meet Lucy’s gaze. “Oh Luce…” She said, tears springing up in her eyes.

“I know… I know.” Lucy said as she grabbed Sue’s arm and pulled her into a comforting hug.

“Was I completely off to be thinking that he might have had a big question to ask?” Sue asked, her voice muffled in Lucy’s shoulder. Lucy pulled back slightly and shook her head. “He’s so frustratingly slow.” Sue lamented.

“So what are you going to do about it?” Lucy asked as they sat on the couch. “I’m sensing that we have a very good obstacle to overcome while shopping tomorrow. Tara will certainly have some insight to share.” She patted Sue’s hand. “Why don’t we sleep on it and meet Tara for brunch. I’ll call her to make sure she can join us that early.” She looked at Sue. OK YOU she signed.

Sue sighed. It was nice to have such good friends. “I will be. You’re right. A situation like this deserves the full attention of all three of us. Call Tara, we’ll do brunch and shopping.” She shrugged. “Maybe a full day of retail therapy is just what I need.” She smiled at Lucy as she stood and headed into her bedroom, followed by Levi.

Lucy pursed her lips and dark thoughts towards Jack Hudson filled her mind. She shook her head slightly and grabbed the phone to call Tara. “Williams.”

“Hey Tara. I’m sorry to be calling so late, but I have a very crucial question for you about tomorrow.”

“Sure, what’s up?” Lucy could hear her talk to Bobby, in muffled tones. She heard him laugh in the background.

“Well, Tara. Sue and I wanted to know if you could join us for brunch. I wasn’t interrupting anything was I?” She would feel bad if she had interrupted anything that Bobby and Tara were in the middle of.

Tara laughed. “No, we’re in the car. We went to the laser show. Jack and Sue went out tonight, right?”

Lucy sighed. “Yes. They were here for a good couple hours afterwards too.”

“And…?” Tara’s anticipation over what she hoped was good news came through the line.

“Hold on there. What do you know that I don’t know?” Lucy demanded.

“You don’t know…? Oh…. OH!” Tara gasped. She muffled the phone again and hissed at Bobby… “He didn’t pop the question!” Bobby’s eyes widened and he looked at her in surprise.

“Tara…?”

“Sorry Luce. Got a little insider information from my best source. He didn’t ask it did he?”

Lucy groaned. “I knew it. I knew he was going to ask the big question today. He got her all ready to answer it and all he asked was if we were going shopping with you tomorrow.”

Tara groaned in return. “That lame little turtle boy. He needs to get a clue.” She said. “Yeah, Lucy, I can do brunch tomorrow. Bobby doesn’t mind. He knows Sue will need me as long as possible tomorrow. Man! This is going to be difficult, knowing that he was supposed to ask and didn’t.”

Lucy smiled. “Ok so… 9 AM at Gianni’s. We’ll head shopping from there. In fact, if Bobby wants to drop you off, we could just be in one car tomorrow..?”

Tara looked at Bobby. They were headed to his place and it would be easier to have him just drop her off at Gianni’s rather than take her home. “Sure sounds like a plan. But... if I find my dress and we find yours, that will be an awful lot of fabric to have in one car. I'd better bring mine, since I'd have Tempe's dress too. See you at 9.” She hung up the phone.

Lucy replaced the phone in its cradle and set about turning off the lights and making sure doors and windows were locked before going to bed.
