Thank you
The walk to Nottingham was pleasant, albeit the stares they got along the way, which made them realise how it would be better to dress appropriately for the period of time, on arrival they were amazed by the noise, the throng of citizens, the stalls, the smells (not all of then bad), the whole feeling and atmosphere of the environment of the town while the castle loomed up in front of them, it’s thick granite walls, imposing, but the feel they got was one of happy times, of people content with their lot. If it was true if Robin was outlawed then something had to go terribly wrong from what it was, as they stood in the middle of the market place and admired everything.
“Well anyone see a cloth stall?” asked Donna breaking the quiet reflection of the group
“There” said Lucy pointing in the right direction
“That is where we go then” Donna replied pulling a reluctant D with her and the other followed behind.
Sue looked at Jack, he presented himself as if he was on a high risk case, she could see the tension in his body as he moved, assuming a casual stance but rigid with uncertainty, as if he knew she was looking at him he caught her eye and smiled, thinking she was the one who needed reassurance he reached out his hand and took hers within, the reality; giving them both the strength they needed.
The girls chose the material, for themselves and the guys too and went in search of Cedric the tailor, he lived in a narrow street, the stench not so pleasant as the market square. He himself was happy and clean enough and in no time at all there all were measured for their new outfits, which he promised would be ready by the following day.
“You can make all these garments in a day?” asked Lucy amazed
“No , no, no my sons, my wife , my daughter will all assist to make sure that your order is ready by this time tomorrow” he grinned at them, which displayed his teeth, or lack of them.
“We will come and collect them then?” Jack confirmed
“No, no, no, no. We will bring them to Locksley”
“Very well” said Jack “We will pay you for them then”

Robin looked out of a window in the north tower, the meeting of nobles long since finished, business for the day wrapped up and he searched the market square below to see if he could see his guests.
The door opened and he felt her presence before she spoke, the air changed somehow.
“You seemed not yourself today, is there something wrong?”
Robin smiled her voice filtered through the room and touched his heart , although he would be reluctant to admit it, even to her.
Turning to greet her properly he said “Marian”
Their eyes held each other’s for the briefest of moments, each trying to ascertain the other’s mood and frame of mind.
“So what is bothering you?” she persisted
He smiled, she was so young but so wise beyond her years in some ways and naïve in others, and yet his heart was hers, not that he would say. They had been betrothed for years, since she was four or five and he had been nine or ten. A union, that both their parents had seen fit for their offspring. A match that was actually probably better matched than if they had chosen someone for themselves, the only thing was, neither were really ready to admit it just yet. They knew each other better than they knew themselves, they anticipated each other, drew strength from each other, shared secrets together, had played, fought, made up, kissed. They had no knowledge of what the future held, except that it held each other, or so they thought. At this point in their lives they didn’t think or could not imagine the horrors which lay in store in both of their lives, both together and apart, and what would strengthen them to be the kind of people who would be looked up to, respected and remembered for hundreds of years to come.
“I have visitors”
“I have heard, aliens, who dress strangely”
“You knew and yet you did not ask me about it earlier?” he replied, studying her closely and stepping nearer, so both their hearts beated in time.
“It was not the time, the meeting, now it is over we can talk”
Robin felt her reach for his hand, he swallowed, he wanted to do so more that just talk, she caressed the back of it gently and he managed to say “They say they come from Washington and that they can not return, they also said they were lost. I invited them to stay until the May celebrations”
“You need to be more astute, they could rob you or be spies or traitors or any number of things” she said scolding him
“Perhaps but I don’t think so, and even if we don’t know the reason for their visit, perhaps we should help them. I can not turn people away who need help, my help”
“Why do you think you can help everyone? You can not you know. There are people you can not help and what of your own populace?”
“They are fine, I make sure they are fine. I look after them as a lord should, I care for them. I make sure they can provide for their families and if they can not I make sure that they do not starve” he spoke earnestly, his facial expression conveying all he meant and more
“I know” Marian said softly her free hand cupping his face and he turned his face and softly kissed her palm, she smiled as shivers of delight spread through her like rapid fire and he bent his head and brushed his lips across hers, softly in a whisper of a caress. “So what is your plan?”
“That they stay, until the festivities are over. I told you”
“And then?”
“And then I hope they will have found their way, their path in life”
“And if not?”
“Then we, you and I help them” he told her, their eyes holding each others, neither noticing Much appearing at the door as they lost themselves in a deeper kiss of promise and love.
