Okay this is a STFBE/Robin Hood crossover, based on the Robin Hood 2006 BBC production and of course Sue Thomas F B Eye. Bizarre I know but am going to give it a try, I know you will probably think I am nuts, perhaps I am. As they are both set in different times in history ie STFBE is modern and Robin Hood is 12 century this story might be classed as AU.

For the purpose of this story I will take the RH setting back six years from when the first season was set . Therefore some of the RH characters will not feature. But I will have Robin, Marian, Much, The Scarlett family, Edward and some Locksley villagers who appeared in season one. Robin will not be outlawed and Edward will be the Sheriff of Nottingham.

The Robin Hood part of the story will be set in 1186 and the STFBE will start in present day.

The room was buzzing with energy as the team worked to solve yet another mystery, not their usual type of mystery however. Today they were all dressed casually, to the point of looking scruffy, bar Myles who must have been wearing the most expensive pair of jeans and T shirt that Sue had ever laid eyes on. She wasn’t laying her eyes on Myles a lot however, opting to fix her gaze on Jack who filled out his shirt and worn jeans in all the right places. She shifted, her bottom becoming numb from her position on the floorboards where she sat, out of the way reading a book she had just unearthed, from an old box.

They were in Myles’s attic, the only place in his entire house which hadn’t been modified to his liking yet. It was dusty and Levi sneezed suddenly, as if to emphasise this. Lucy reached over and forced the small window open, to let in some much needed air. The room despite being the attic was well lit, due to the light which streamed through the window and the old light fitting from which hung a single bulb and now swung gently on the breeze.

Sue looked around her, the team seemed to work well together whatever the task might be, they were all here including Donna who was at this moment making coffee for everyone down in Myles’ lavish and pristine kitchen. Sue looked back to the book to resume what she had been reading.

The book had caught her eye as it was old and tattered. It had been printed in England about one hundred years before and held all manner of fascinating facts, mostly about things which were now obsolete. Sue paused, her attention caught when she stumbled across something about the traditions of May day. It was almost May here too, it had been a cold winter and Sue was looking forward to some warmer weather, it seemed the sunshine always made people’s mood improve, especially Myles’s.

She skimmed the information on the page it talked about Maypole and dancing, of May Queens and Kings, often called Maid Marian and Robin Hood, which made her wonder of the folklore and whether or not they had ever truly existed, in ye olde England, in days of yore.

“Coffee’s up” said Donna appearing through the door.

Sue was startled when Jack appeared by her side offering her a cup of the hot black liquid, when she took the drink from him their hands brushed, fuzzy feelings like butterflies thundered through her heart, as she looked at him he smiled, almost conveying that he felt it too as he settled down beside her.

Bobby was the first one to rise after the break of coffee and doughnuts, he pulled an old closet away from the wall to reveal a door.

“That’s a strange place to have a door” he said, examining it carefully

“Where do you suppose it leads?” asked Tara, excited at the prospect of finding a secret room or passageway.

“Won’t know ‘til we look” said D standing and joining them

“Be careful that is my property you are handling” Myles told them, but with a slight hint of amusement in his eyes.

“Door’s stuck” said Bobby unnecessarily as he failed to open it, even with all his weight against it.

“Here” D intervened “Let me help”

“No” said Bobby with a shake of his head “I think it’s going to take more than just the two of us, Myles! Jack!”

Myles and Jack went to assist as the women stood back and watched with quiet humour as the men heaved and fought to win the battle with the door. Finally and astonishingly it opened.

“There’s steps” said D “Donna a flashlight”

It didn’t take long before one by one the men had disappeared down the stone steps.

“I don’t know about you, but I am not sitting here waiting for them to get back, while they are having all the fun” said Tara slipping through the hole too, followed closely by Donna.

Sue and Lucy shared a look as Lucy said “Come on, we don’t want to be left behind, hold onto me, it will be okay I promise”

And so with Levi bringing up the rear they all followed the steps, down, down and further down, into what seemed to be the centre of the earth.

Thanks for your encouraging comments, here is the next installment smile.gif

None of them were truly sure what happened between stepping through the door in the attic to their next conscious thought. But Sue was subsequently aware of Levi licking her hand. She opened her eyes and blinked rapidly, how could they have gone from the attic to what appeared to be the middle of a forest, she sat up slowly, all around her were the rest of the team, now beginning to sit up and blink as she had done, light flittering though the trees.

“Where the hell are we?” asked Myles finding his voice first

“How did we get here?” asked Lucy looking dazed

“Bobby found the hidden door in the attic” D said trying to work through this logically

Taking up on this thread Jack added “We all went through the door and down stone steps and…”

“And the next thing we know we are sitting in a wood? It just doesn’t make sense” said Myles

“There has to be a logical reason” Sue added “We can’t have just fallen into a wood from your attic room”

“No Thomas you are very right” Myles told her nodding in agreement

“But” put in Donna “That does not explain how we all come to be sitting on a bed of leaves. In what so obviously is a wood or forest”

“Can you hear traffic?” said Sue

“Not a dickie bird” said Bobby

“Actually we can hear dickie birds” said Myles “but don’t call our feathered friends dickie birds”

“I think” said Lucy slowly “That this is a dream”

“Here let me pinch you” said Tara

“Ow!” Lucy exclaimed clutching her arm “That hurt”

“You’re not asleep then” Tara added helpfully
“Perhaps I’m not but what about one of you?” she replied proceeding to pinch Myles and soon all of them were rubbing their arms, clearly this was not a dream.

“Instead of sitting here trying to determine whether this is a dream, shouldn’t we be thinking about how to get back to DC” said Jack, standing and looking about, but all he could see were more trees, he sighed heavily.

“It’s a good idea” said Sue joining him

“It’s the only idea” said Myles “And I think perhaps Sparky has a point, we can’t stay here all day what about my attic? You were all so eager to help me fix up and determine the source of my damp problem”

“We’re not in your attic now are we?” Lucy replied

One by one they stood and brushed the fallen leaves off their attire.

“Which way?” asked Donna nervously as D took her hand reassuringly in his.

Jack shrugged “Your guess is a good as mine”

“East?” offered Bobby

“East it is” Jack agreed and they all trudged off into the unknown.

it wouldn't let me reply, so I had to do without smilies I'm afraid.

Now I have never actually seen Robin Hood (unless you count the cartoon where Robin is a sort of fox thing and prince John is a lion) but I do know a bit about the general legend not to mention Rosa, you have well and trully piqued my interest.

They haven't really just walked into the New Forest in the 12th century have they? Or am I getting ahead of myself? Either way I can't wait to read what you have in store for us next!
Rosa17
Thanks for all your encouraging replies, I was a bit nervous about posting such an unusual crossover, and this is also the first crossover I have written too, or am writing as I haven't finished it yet. smile.gif

It was cool beneath the trees which was refreshing, trees which seemed never ending but after walking for some considerable time, Jack raised his hand in the air and the party of travellers stopped.

“What?” asked Lucy, ready to grab hold of Sue or anyone come to that

“Listen”

“To what exactly?” asked Myles “We have already confirmed we can hear birds twittering”

“Ssssssh” said D

“I can’t hear anything” said Tara

“You’re not the only one” said Sue with a smile and they stepped closer to each other, watching Jack for a response.

“There” he said looking at them all “It’s in the distance but I can hear voices and I can smell, can you smell? Wood smoke”

“Wood smoke? Are you feeling okay Jack?” asked Lucy

“Yes, fine…this way” he added pointing slightly off the direction of east.

They walked on for another ten minutes or so before they came to a clearing. Eyes wide they stopped and stared at the vision before them. It was the appearance of a village, one that they had only seen before in history books or movie’s. There were a cluster of houses, all with thatched roofs, including the large house in the distance. There was no sign of tarmac laid roads, cars or anything that resembled the modern world in which they lived.

There were however animals in small grassy pens, goats, chickens, pigs. People moved about engrossed in mundane tasks. People who were dressed in something so alien from their own dress it was almost inconceivable to watch. Women in course shifts, men too in some instances, other men wore trousers and tops, the most popular colour of clothing was brown, in various shades, with some reds and greens thrown into the mix as well.

“Do you think it’s a movie set?” asked Tara

“If so where are the camera crew and all the behind the scenes paraphernalia?” whispered Myles, hardly daring to breathe, let alone talk.

“This is weird” muttered Lucy, holding on to the nearest arm, which happened to be Bobby’s, he didn’t shrug her off and stood entranced as the rest of them.

“We did establish this wasn’t a dream didn’t we?” clarified Tara “Because I was going to suggest we pinch each other again”

“No!” exclaimed Myles moving out of her way “No more pinching we have established this isn’t a dream”

“So what exactly is it?” asked Donna

“There is only one way to find out” said Jack “We investigate, do what we do best”

“It’s not what I do best” muttered Donna

“Donna” said D with a warm smile which touched her heart, just as he knew it would “You wheedle information out of our daughter, you will be fine”

Sue sighed, her eyes met Jack’s, they were deep, they were intense and she felt the butterflies dance in her stomach as his hand made contact with hers. She was not alone here, one thing was for sure, they were all in this strange situation together.

You know, Ornella, I was thinking the same thing. I watched the movie and I started reading the book, but it does kind of have the same concept, doesn't it. OF course, our favorite team seems to have just stumbled into this world and not gone for a specific purpose.

Makes me wonder if this village is friend or foe.

Rosa17
Ornella and Linny I have never heard of timeline. I chose to write it this way to make the crossover work. Thank you all for your feedback and support smile.gif

The villagers fell silent as the group walked into the village. Some regarded them with a quiet interest others with a staring curiosity which made them feel as if they were on display. All except Sue were startled when a voice addressed them seemingly to come with from nowhere.

“Can I help you?”

They turned to see a man with greying hair almost down to his shoulders, in his hand was a saw. Myles stepped back a bit unsure if the man was wielding in his direction.

“Come to see the Master have you?” the man asked again “Up at the house” he added pointing in the direction of what could only be described as a manor house.

“He’s out” said a new voice belonging to a boy, who was tall, skinny with jet black hair and a crossbow and arrow in his hands.

This time they all took a step back.

“He will be in Nottingham Town” the man offered as explanation.

A woman possibly the man’s wife stepped out from the cottage with a basket under one arm, she looked at the crowd before her weighing them up, with astute examination.

“You will be after Lord of Locksley then” she finally said taking a stand by the boy “Earl of Huntingdon”

Jack shared a look with D and Bobby, while Tara pinched herself to make sure she really wasn’t dreaming, this surely could not be happening.

“Yes” Jack managed to utter, his grip on Sue‘s hand tightening.

“Will” said the man to the boy “take these gentlefolk up to the big house and tell Thornton that Master Robin has guests”

“Yes Father” he replied, and with a nod of his head they all followed him up to the door of the big house.

“Master Scarlett” said the man at the door presumably Thornton, who was also like the first man that spoke greying, this time with short hair and Thornton was wearing a tunic as opposed to the pants the first man had worn.

“Guests, for Master Robin” Will informed him

“Thank you” Thornton said as he dismissed Will, then he addressed the team and Donna as he welcomed them all in. “Can I bring you refreshment while you wait? The Master should be back soon. Wine, perhaps a little mead”

“No we are okay thank you” said Myles speaking for all of them

“Very well. If you need anything call, my name is Thornton” he replied, before taking his leave

“This” hissed Bobby “Is more than weird, this is impossible”

“I was thinking exactly the same thing” said Lucy “There is no way we can be in 12th century England. All we did was walk through a door in Myles’ attic”

“So it’s my fault now, blame me why don’t you” Myles snapped back

“Stop it both of you” said Donna who was beginning to feel like she was on an outing with the kids, with all the arguing.

“Let’s get back to logic” said D softly, there wasn’t much in way of seating and after the girls sat on a settle the men sat by them on the floor alongside Levi.

“Sue?” said Jack looking at her

“It’s okay I know it’s dim but it’s light enough to read you all, I don’t know if I will manage later when it’s dark though” she admitted

“Right” said D bringing the meeting to attention “The evidence”

“The evidence is that we are appear to be at the home of Robin Hood” said Tara

“Except he wouldn’t be Robin Hood if he was living here would he?” pointed out Lucy

“Perhaps he will be Robin Hood at a later point in his life” said Sue “I don’t remember Will Scarlett being a child and the Will Scarlett that showed us up here was what eleven, twelve?”

“Thomas is right” said Myles

“Robin Hood is based on folklore and legend though” put in Donna “Davey did a bit on it at school. It’s hard to know what is happening”

“If” said D “This Earl of Huntingdon is Robin Hood I seem to think Sue might be right”

“It is difficult to judge when we don’t even know what year we’re in” admitted Jack

“I still don’t get how we got here” Lucy said shaking her head “But that man we met…”

“The carpenter” supplied Bobby

“Well him and his wife, they mentioned that the Lord of the Manor was, the Earl of Huntingdon, that the manor was Locksley and that the master was called Robin, it’s too much of a coincidence” Lucy admitted

“I have one question” said Tara “How on earth do you suggest we get back to where we came from or belong?”

“I have no idea” said Jack shaking his head “But I promise if it’s the last thing we do we will get back to DC”

The conversation stilled as the sound of hooves caught their attention and Lucy signed to Sue what was happening. Thornton appeared from the door they had seen him leave by, he looked at them and said “The Master is home”

Robin was greeted by the door by Thornton who told his of his unusual looking visitors, he entered the room accompanied by a man, possibly classed as a servant and regarded the new visitors , with scrutiny. Jack too looked at his host and companion closely. They were both young, Robin being not more than twenty or twenty one and the servant perhaps a year or two his senior. Their dress fitted in with what they had already been exposed too, these two opting for pants as opposed shifts.

“Travelled far?” Robin finally asked

Jack looked at Myles who gave a slight shrug before he answered “You could say that”

“Where are you from?” asked the other man

Jack cleared his throat before replying “Washington” He had a vague idea that there was some such place name in England.

“Washington?” the unnamed man asked

“Yes it’s..” Robin began

“It’s where Master ? Have you heard of it because I surely have not and look at them, they are aliens, their dress alone is strange”

“They might be thinking you are strange Much, and they would be right. No Washington is North East”

“You are sure Master?”

“Yes! I am sure. It is a old established town. No I have never been there. And as for their dress, well” he paused and shrugged “Who are we to say it is strange, people might dress differently up there” he paused again and asked the team “You have business with me? Or perhaps in Nottingham?”

“No” Jack walked closer to Robin “No we have lost our way and can‘t return to Washington that you mentioned”

“You may stay here until you have a plan of what you want to do, go”

“Surely Master no, we do not know these people they could …they might..”

“Much!”

“What?”

“Stop. Do they look like beggars or thieves? And if they were should that cloud my judgment? Or mean that I turn them away?”

“No Master” Much replied in a quiet voice

“Have you eaten?” Robin asked directing the question to his guests

“No, not since this morning” Jack told them

“Much, go, speak with Thornton, tell him our guests are hungry, they need food”

“I am hungry I need food what about me?”

“Much!” Robin exclaimed clearly exasperated with his manservant

“Okay, okay I am going, nobody listens to me, nobody wants to know what I think”

“If you spoke wisely then perhaps we would” Robin shot back

“I always speak wisely I…” he trailed off mid sentence his gaze meeting the angered one of his Master “I am going, alright”

“Sorry about him” Robin said to his visitors “Perhaps it is rude of me I have not introduced myself or made your acquaintance. My name is Robin, Earl of Huntingdon and Lord of this Manor, of Locksley. Who might you all be?”

By the time that Much had returned Jack had introduced everyone and it was established that none of his travelling companions were servants. Robin did not seem to bat an eyelid at this, even though Myles knew it must appear odd. They surely didn’t get many people of dark skin in 12th century England. And nobles would normally be on horseback, they had arrived in Locksley with none.

^^^
After the guests had been fed, they had to Robin’s surprise divided up and gone to look at his village, his stable, converse with his servants and he had been called away to address a minor problem with one of his serfs, on the way back he met the dark haired man walking with the attractive blonde lady with her dog in tow. He stepped from a cottage in which he had been standing in the shadows, she gasped and he stepped back, not wanting to alarm her. His guests intrigued him, their dress was indeed strange and so was the way they spoke, but then he came into contact with a variety of strange accents in Nottingham and beyond, so that didn’t bother him as much as the fact they seemed not to know where they were really going and certainly didn’t seem to want to go back from where they had come.

“Are you alright?” he asked carefully, squinting as the sun blazed directly into his eyes, when she nodded he continued “You have a beautiful dog, you know the dogs usually stay outside”

“He’s my hearing dog” she replied softly her hand stilling that of the dark haired man’s beside her and Robin’s gaze fell to him.

He looked as if he would challenge any notion that the dog was sent to sleep outside.

“Your hearing dog?” Robin queried, never having heard of such a thing

“I’m deaf” she answered him

“Deaf? How do you know what I am saying?” he asked intrigued

“I read your lips”

Robin’s hand went instinctively to his lips as he regarded her, taking his hand away he said “You can understand everything I say, even though you can not hear me?”

“Not every word no, but I can read enough to understand what the sentence you utter means. I need to be able to see your lips, or anyone’s lips in order to read them though, if the light is bad, or if you turn away I can’t understand”

“It must be difficult”

“It can be, that’s why I sign too”

“Sign?” Robin asked, not having a clue what she was referring to.

The gaze of the man at her side was steady, trained on him as if he half expected Robin to start firing arrows at them, which wouldn’t happen as he was standing before them unarmed for one thing and for the second he didn’t go round shooting at people, just hunted, with lots of target practise and fooling about with either Much or Marian.

“With my hands different shapes mean different things”

“That is interesting, you know we have a deaf girl in the village, will you come and see her?” he asked

Sue looked at Jack, he raised his eye brow slightly and shrugged with a nod before replying to the question. “Yes, Sue and I will meet her”

“Come with me” Robin said and led them down the grassy path to another cottage. He turned then remembering that Sue had to be able to see him to understand him and added “I’ll go and see if she is at home, it is dark inside so it will be better if I ask her to meet you outside”

“What do you think?” asked Sue as Robin disappeared into the cottage

“About how we got here in the first place? About how we are going to get back?” he asked

“All of that and also about how we can help them, people like this girl Robin has told us about”

The conversation stilled as Robin reappeared with a young girl; Aithne who vaguely reminded both Jack and Sue of Amanda. They sat on the grass whereupon after introductions Robin excused himself and left the trio to get to now each other. They managed with a series of hands signals which it seemed the girl had already established. Sue and Jack took great delight in teaching her signs for a few things which were around them. They progressed well, the child laughing at their antics, to encourage her to show some understanding of what they were teaching her.

Jack looked up and Sue followed his gaze as a woman came out from the cottage, she leaned against the wall and smiled.

“We are lucky to have her here with us, there are many villages where a child such as this would be taken away. Robin will never let that happen……. You made her laugh” she said, simply, her eyes the only thing reflecting emotion, joy.

“She never laughs?” asked Jack with a tone of unbelief within it’s depths

“No, she gets very angry”

“Because she can’t communicate…make herself understood?” Sue replied “I know what that feels like, not being able to get across what me needs or wants are, it is frustrating, for both you, but especially her”

“How do you usually get across to her?” asked Jack softly

“Well we talk to her, I forget I have several other children too. Often she gets ignored and sits in the corner, we just sort of manage. What were you doing with your hands?” she asked coming over to them and sitting down beside her daughter.

Jack smiled at the scene they cast, perhaps Sue was right, perhaps they could help this little girl and her family and for that being stuck in the middle ages with no idea of how to get home was worth it.

“This is a fine pedigree of a horse” Myles said stroking it’s sleek coat

“It belonged to my Master’s father” said Much

“The previous Earl of Huntingdon?” asked Bobby eager to coax some information out of the manservant, who to him seemed the easiest to target.

“Yes, he passed away two years since, I believe it was spring two years ago, 1184, yes, yes it was”

Myles’ eyes nearly bulged out of his head, if two years ago was 1184 that meant they were stranded in 1186. Bobby sighed Much was obviously loyal to his Master. He tried to recap on Robin Hood versions he had seen on TV or the movies, he was sure there had been a character called Much, but what his role was in those instances he could not seem to remember.

“Your Master seems to be very young to be responsible for so much” Myles commented, with a discreet look at Bobby, both hoping for more details.

“We are not so young. My Master became a man before his father passed away, he had been ill you see”

“Robin had been ill?” asked Bobby

“No, not Robin the old man, Robin’s father”

“Did he have a name, it must be easier than call him Robin’s father or the previous Earl all the time”

“Robert, his name was Robert“

“Good name“ said Bobby with a smile

Much continued “He ailed for a two three years, got progressively worse and my master took on more and more responsibility of the estate and then one day he died, Robin’s father not Robin”

“Obviously not” Myles said dryly “Otherwise would have had a conversation with a ghost earlier”

“Do not talk to me of ghosts, ghosts..”

“Okay, it’s alright” said Bobby seeming to recall that people in days gone by were very superstitious about things like ghosts and decided to change the subject back to horses.

D had with Tara, Lucy and Donna climbed up the hill that led from the village and they sat down at the top admiring the view.

“I wonder” said Tara dreamily “What this part of England looks like now”

“What do you mean now?” asked Lucy “It looks like this”

“I know..I meant in 2007, not whatever we are here”

“I would expect it is probably built up, or semi built up. It depends how far we are from the city of Nottingham”

“It’s very peaceful..and beautiful” Donna said almost wistfully “There’s no pollution, no traffic”

“No” laughed D “Just the smell of unwashed bodies”

“It wasn’t that bad” Tara said with a smile “They didn’t look filthy”

“No Robin and Much and the servant at the house didn’t but I am not sure about the community”

“I think they might be referred to as peasants” shared D

“Or serfs” suggested Lucy

“I doubt they are free men, they will be tied to the village and the Lord of the Manor” agreed Donna

“How do you suppose we got here?” asked Lucy

“I have no idea, I think it must be one of those things like the Bermuda triangle, nobody really knows the answer, and that goes for getting back again. If we can get back again” D remarked

“What if we can’t get back again?” asked Lucy alarmed

“Then we will have to stay here, won’t we” he replied, knowing that that wasn’t what any of the girls needed to hear.

QUOTE
Much continued “He ailed for a two three years, got progressively worse and my master took on more and more responsibility of the estate and then one day he died, Robin’s father not Robin”

“Obviously not” Myles said dryly “Otherwise would have had a conversation with a ghost earlier”
