************************************************************************Bobby made his way towards her, dodging a mishap with Katie that would have tumbled them both to the ground. He stood at the side of her car. “Tara luv…” He said, his voice husky as he found himself struggling with tears of relief at finally having her home.
“Bobby…” She said back, her own tears springing to her eyes at his display of emotion. She swallowed hard and held a hand up to him. “Wait a minute, ok?” He nodded. Tara shifted the bag she’d been getting out back into it’s spot because she knew that his arms would be around her as they went back into the house and she didn’t want to be carrying anything. She shut the trunk, her eyes locked with his as she tried to figure out what to say. “I’ve got a bit of a surprise for you, Bobby. I… well… I just couldn’t tell you about it over the phone.”
He frowned slightly. “What is it Tara luv?” he asked, when she hesitated.
“Well…” She bit her lip before smiling at him reassuringly and stepping out from behind the trunk of the car, letting him see her body, middle swelling gently with their baby. She kept her eyes on him, waiting for his reaction.
Bobby’s eyes devoured her, grinning when he saw her blush at the hunger in his eyes. He swept her body once, before returning to her midsection. He realized what he was looking at. “Are you saying…” He stepped towards her.
Tara nodded. “Yes Bobby, that’s exactly it.” She smiled and took another step towards him. “We’re having another baby in May.” She said softly, waiting for his reaction.
A huge grin split his face, dimples popping out at her. “WHOOOO HOOOOOO!” He shouted, closing the remaining gap between them and sweeping her up into his arms and pulling her close. Tara laughed when he turned in a circle. He set her down on the ground and caressed her face. “I love you so much.” he said, pressing his lips to hers in a gentle kiss.
Her arms wrapped around his neck and held him there when he tried to move away, her lips seeking his hungrily. “Bobby…” She murmured against his lips. “I missed you so much.”
“I’ve missed you too.” He said, resting his forehead against hers. He kissed her forehead. “May, huh? Might be easier this time to be pregnant during the winter.” It had nearly killed Bobby to see Tara struggling so badly against the summer heat and humidity while she was carrying Katie.
Tara smiled. “I think so.” She hugged him again. “You’re ok with it, right? I mean, we talked about it as a someday… I certainly wasn’t expecting to find it out when I wasn’t feeling good when I got there.”
Bobby smiled back, kissing her softly again before he looked at her. “Absolutely, Tara luv. I can’t wait to greet another Manning into our lives.” He said softly before he kissed her, feathering kisses along her jaw line until he reached her ear and he nuzzled into the hollow behind it, kissing her there as he felt her shiver in his arms.
“Bobby…” She moaned. “I know you said you’d be doing that…” She shivered again. “But I really think we should wait until Katie’s having her nap…” She murmured as her head tilted back to give him more access to her neck.
He chuckled against her skin. “Your mouth is saying that, but your body language says to keep going.” He said, kissing her again as she shivered once again.
“We need to go check on baby luv.” She murmured, her hands playing with his collar.
“True.” He conceded as he pressed a final kiss to her lips and wrapped his arm around her, one hand straying to gently touch her midsection. “Hey little one.” He said softly before kissing her temple and heading them into the house. “You’ve had a month to get used to the idea, how are you feeling about it…?” He asked as they entered the living room.
Tara grinned up at him. “Just another ingredient into the perfect recipe.” She said as they walked into the kitchen to find Katie with frosting all over her face. Tara giggled. “Looks like someone else loves the recipe for the frosting.”
Katie came over to them and hugged Tara around the legs, getting frosting on her pants. “I love you mommy.” She said sweetly figuring that she could avoid getting into trouble by reminding her daddy that mommy was home, ignoring the look that was starting in her father’s eyes.
Tara looked up at Bobby and smothered her laugh. She bent down and kissed K atie, licking her lips when she stood up again. “Yummy. My favorite frosting on my favorite baby luv.” She tousled Katie’s hair. “Baby luv, why don’t you go wash your hands and face before you change your clothes. You’ve got frosting on them.” Katie nodded, and snuck a glance up at Bobby, her puppy dog eyes in place. He glanced down at her, raising a brow and she buried her face in Tara’s legs again. Tara looked up at him and swatted his arm, rolling her eyes at him. “Go on, baby luv. I’m home… I’m not going anywhere.” Katie finally let go and scampered upstairs.
Bobby sighed and moved in to survey the damage to the cake. “I knew I shouldn’t have let her taste the frosting last night. Although she did at least finish her waffle first.” He said, surveying Katie’s empty plate. He looked up at Tara. “Are you sure it’s the right time to add a new ingredient?”
Tara smiled and came up beside him, giggling at the little hand prints that adorned the side of the cake now. “Absolutely Bobby… we’ve got the perfect little recipe going on here.” She stretched up to kiss him.
He kissed her back before wrapping his arms around her, his hands splayed possessively on her baby bump as he held her close. “It’s a recipe for trouble, that’s what it is.” He grumbled.
Tara laughed. “Maybe so Bobby… but baby luv and this one here… they’re a trouble I can deal with.” She looked up at him. “It will never be dull around here.” She reminded him.
He smiled down at her. “That’s true. We’ve never been the sort of people who can tolerate dullness.” He dropped a kiss on her forehead before letting her go. “Just don’t go away again, I don’t know if I can manage two of them on my own.” He begged.
Tara really laughed at that one. “I have no intention of going anywhere without all of you again.” She said, scooping Katie up when she came back into the kitchen. She reached out a hand to Bobby and he took it as they walked into the living room and sat down on the couch, Bobby’s arms around her as she cuddled Katie close. Their perfect recipe… trouble or not… mixed with love and meant to be enjoyed and cherished for always.
