Please remember, first and foremost, this is a Romance site. There are many fanfiction sites on the internet. . . this one is dedicated to the Romance genre. In the interest of the bulk of the membership of the board, stories will remain in that primary genre.

Real Life “Characters”
Occasionally, an author may choose to include a “real” person in their story. It’s difficult for us to make one hard and fast rule to cover every situation. Our general approach will be to protect that person’s privacy and their rights, especially if they are unable to speak for themselves with regard to the story. Historical figures whose lives can be researched may be used in fictional stories, but the story must accurately reflect their life as it is known to the public. Any interaction with fictional characters must not detract from their historical truth.

Dedications
When making dedications in stories, please remember that this is a public board, and as such we must do what we can to protect the privacy of our members and their loved ones.

If you wish, it is perfectly acceptable to make a dedication in your story, but please keep it generic. ie: This story was written in memory of a dear friend who passed away a month ago. In some cases, a general dedication to a group of people may be appropriate, and we would consider that acceptable here on RFF. An example may be a dedication to the firefighters who gave their lives to save others in the WTC Towers on 9/11, on a story that contains similar subject matter. That would be fine. Singling out a specific firefighter by name, however, would not. Please do not include any names or dates. If in doubt as to what is appropriate, please feel free to contact anyone on the Admin/Mod team and we will do our best to help. Please keep in mind that any post not meeting the spirit of this site will be removed at the discretion of the Admin/Mod team.

If you are not certain about whether your story is within our guidelines, feel free to contact an Admin or Mod via a personal message; in this case it is better to ask. For stories outside our scope, http://www.fanfiction.net has an excellent board as well with a wider focus than just romance. The Administration reserves the right to remove a story outside our focus.
