Oh great

. This is so frustrating!

Why does ABC even have an Audience Relations dept. for if they could care less about their audience, which they obviously do if they delete the e-mails they receive.
That was a good idea, Zanki, to activate the "request read receipt" option. I wish I had done that. Well, I sent all the e-mails to ABC and mailed out hard copies of my letter to all 8 people we were given snail mail addresses for. I did the same with the letter I sent for my Dad.
BTW, did you put the words, "Sue Thomas F.B.Eye" on the subject line? I remember when we sent out e-mails before, they were getting blocked and someone had suggested that we don't use the show's name on the subject line because they can put a filter on that and block the messages. Remembering that, I used the subject "A #1 Show Worth Airing" for the e-mails I sent for my Dad and "A Great Show for ABC" for the ones I sent for myself.
My advice, for what it's worth, is to mail the hard copies of letters also. As someone here said before, they can block or delete the e-mails, but they can't stop the mail from being delivered.
Let's just hope that the right people read the e-mails/letters and pray that God will open their minds and help them to realize that STFBE would be a perfect show for ABC.
And, let's also keep sending e-mails/letters to PAX and Sony and pray that if ABC isn't the answer, that PAX will still change their minds and bring STFBE back.

Hi Everyone:
I am new to this forum and I was looking for a site that had information about the cancellation of my favourite show. I just found this out from reading the TV Guide. I am absolutely devastated and extremely angry and I will be writing to PAX to question why they are cancelling this terrific show.
There aren't too many shows that you can watch at any time with your family and not be concerned about the content in the show. I don't understand PAX's decision but thanks for posting the contact information on this site ~ you guys are doing a great job

Hi everybody,
I don't reply often (I actually haven't replied a single time before), but I just wanted to let you know that I also have been sending e-mails and written letters in order to save the show. I think it is a wonderful show that can be watched by whole families (which is pretty unique) and I really hope that we are going to hear some good news about it soon. I am from the Netherlands and here only half of the episodes so far has been broadcasted, so I at least still have something to look forward to. I just wish the show would continue, so that all the fans around the world could say the same. I guess all we can do is hang in there and keep sending e-mails and letters. Someone in the television business must see the light and acknowledge how important we all think this show is, right?

We have not heard one way or another... the cast contracts expired, so at this point, it is assumed the show is not coming back. If someone wants to pick up the show, it is a whole new contract and negotiations. The cast is now free to pursue other interests and make other contracts if they so choose. Dolphin posted at the top of the forum on the 15th regarding this. It does not mean there is no hope at all, there is always hope, but the chances are very slim.
As for me, I hope for the best, prepare for the worst. The site is here and will stay, the community will continue to exist as a writer/reader fanfic haven... and I know we will see many of the cast again... they are a talented bunch! As for Sue, Jack, Bobby, Lucy, Tara, Myles, Dimitrius, Levi, Randy, Troy, Charlie, Howie and the rest, they will continue to live, love, dare, dream, fight, cry, and travel the spectrum of life here, on this site.
Should anything else be announced, you will be the first to know, well, the second!

Hey everyone,
I just read what Jen wrote and Dolphin wrote. I know that we have not heard anything yet but I am still have faith that we will hear some news soon.
Jen I know you said that you are preparing for the worst and I can say I am right there with you, but I am hoping to hear some good news soon. This show has got to be saved. I don't know if there is anything else we can do, I have written everyone that Jen put on here. I have not heard anything except from Pax. I really hope another network picks up this great show.
Guys I know that the show could be over, but let's not give up hope, there is no exact answer quiet yet, Am I right Kelly, Jen? I know I am praying everyday for this wonderful show to come back. I know we all want that. Just keep faith you guys. Things can happen.
Don't give up yet guys.

This just in from the Johnson Brothers...
"We would like to take this opportunity to sincerely thank all you SUE THOMAS: F.B.EYE fans for your support. It is very gratifying to know the show has touched you so deeply that you would go to such great lengths to keep the show alive.
In fact, we are currently in the process of exploring other possibilities to keep it alive. And we know everyone means well -- but we ask that you refrain from sending emails or letters to any other networks about picking up the show as it will only be counterproductive. We greatly appreciate your passion for the show (passion that we share!) but please let us handle things through the proper channels. If you want to help, we would encourage your prayers.
Thank you again for your support.

That last post was quite a while ago...has anything happened since??
I'm ok in the UK, Hallmark has it on every single day. But they're not always in order. And I have never seen the very first episode. They need to do a re-run, right from the very beginning...
Can anyone tell me if STFBE has come out on video/DVD at all? And if not, does anyone know when it could happen? Just a small question...
justme_jp3
Sep 1 2005, 06:09 PM
At this point, there is no work of the show coming back. PAX is continuing to show reruns on Sunday evenings in the United States. CTV is showing reruns in Canada, and Hallmark in the UK is showing episodes as well. If we get any verifiable word of movement or decisions, we will announce it in Site News. But know that the cast contracts ran out in June, so they are all free to pursue other projects, which they are doing. As we hear of those projects, we are announcing them.
The first season of the show was made available on DVD in Japan. However, it is not able to be viewed on all VCR's, due to the regional coding. Plus, it is quite expensive. PAX (now known as "i") mentioned previously that they are considering releasing the series on DVD, but no timetable or further details have been published. Once again, if we get word, and can verify that it is accurate, we will make it known here.
Hope that helps!

It completely bums me out that they cancelled such an amazing show. I wish that the Johnson Brothers would consider going to Hallmark or someone like that and suggest that movies were made. They have a mystery series with Jane Doe, Mystery Woman, and some other series with John Larroquette and I would think that Sue Thomas would fit in great with them. They could do movies that could be aired once every month or every other month. This would allow the series to continue, but would also allow the actors to do other jobs/parts if offered. Almost all of the story lines on Sue Thomas are mysteries!!! I don't know.....just a thought!! I would think that would be easier than trying to resurrect a series!!! It has been done with other series before. Johnson Brothers.....are you listening????????????
At least the wonderfully demented minds on this site keep the characters alive!! Just wish we could see more with these great characters on the small screen!! Thanks for letting share my blog a bit!!!!!

In light of the update from the Johnsons, what does this really mean? Have all negotiations with other networks ended or has there just been a break in the negotiations for some down time? I've continued to pray that the show would get picked up by another network or that PAX would decide to fund it again now that they have changed to "i". Except that they only show it once a week now and are even preempting it for some repeat of a movie this coming Sunday night

!
Do you think that the tragic passing of our beloved Jesse ("Levi") is something they could work around if the show were to come back? I thought maybe too that we just hadn't heard anything yet because of Deanne's pregnancy and time needed for a maternity leave.
I just can't understand why a network wouldn't want to air such a popular series, except that it seems that the networks just want to air raunchy filth instead of shows with characters that portray good moral values. This is very depressing to say the least.
Any answers, thoughts or opinions would be much appreciated.

Mr&MrsHudson, I emailed "i" about this Sunday's preempt of Sue Thomas. They're preempting the first of a two-parter "Secret Agent Man" and "Spy Games". I don't know why they don't take that into consideration when they do something like that. It probably doesn't do any good to email them, but I felt I needed to let them know how I feel. I also pointed out that they have not been forthcoming in whether or not they would start showing the first and second season again or just keep running the third season.
If I hear anything back from them I will let everyone know. They don't usually email us directly though. The most I will get is an email stating that my email has been forwarded to programming.

Hey Guys.
Yeah the Johnsons' latest message is vague. I'm not quite sure what to make of it, either. It's good that they are able to have some free time lately because I have heard more than once that they were so uber busy doing two series at the same time. They deserve this break. Deanne deserved the break because filming could be stressful for her during her pregnancy. Hey it's not a coincidence that they have this long break from filming while Deanne has her first child. Now this way, Deanne could devote all the time she can with Kyra and Troy before starting up acting again.
And if the show is not coming back for sure, the Johnsons would have announced instead of giving us this maddening vague statement. If there was no hope, then they would have said so. So don't panic. They actually hinted that they are going to tell us something and they promised to let us know what is going to happen with STFBE.
I say just hang in there...I don't believe it's over yet...and keep praying.

I just want this show back so bad, I miss new episodes. I see other shows come back with new episodes, I get sad when Sue Thomas is not new with episodes. I miss that and I am sure I am not the only one.
So I would have to agree with Jennie, let's just all hang in there. Don't give up yet.

Paxson CEO Retires
Monday November 7, 8:44 pm ET
Paxson CEO Retires As Part of Deal With NBC Universal
WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (AP) -- Paxson Communications Corp. founder and chief executive Lowell "Bud" Paxson is resigning from the broadcast network and television station operator, the Florida-based company said Monday.
He will be succeeded as chief executive by R. Brandon Burgess, an executive vice president of General Electric Co.'s NBC Universal, which owns a 32 percent stake in Paxson.
Paxson, who started the company in 1991 after co-founding the Home Shopping Network, will now have the title of chairman emeritus, said Leslie Monreal, a spokeswoman for Paxson Communications.
As part of a new agreement with Paxson, NBC Universal has 18 months to either acquire the company, which is based in West Palm Beach, Fla., or find a third party to buy Paxson.
NBC Universal, which acquired its stake in Paxson in 1999 for $415 million with a call right to become majority owner of the company in 2009, has been pushing for a management change there.
The two companies have also squabbled over their ownership structure and the financial terms of NBC Universal's investment in the company.
Burgess will resign from NBC Universal to assume his new post in Florida.
If the call right is not exercised or transferred within 18 months, then Paxson Communications public shareholders, excluding Bud Paxson, will receive instead $105 million face value of Paxson's Series B preferred stock.
Current government regulations would make it difficult for NBC to become majority owner of Paxson, which means the company will likely look to a new buyer.
Paxson, which operates 60 television stations reaching about 83 percent of U.S. households, has struggled financially for the last several years and dropped most of its ambitious original programming efforts.
In a telephone interview Monday, Burgess said Bud Paxson was not pressured to step down.
"Bud Paxson was the single majority controlling stockholder. This transaction happened because he wanted it to," Burgess said.
The company hopes that this new peace treaty with NBC Universal will make it easier for it to refinance its balance sheet.
"NBC Universal has been the largest financial investor in Paxson Communications for some time, and we continue to believe that Paxson Communications has a compelling national platform," said Bob Wright, NBC Universal's chairman and CEO.

UPDATE 2-NBC buys option to acquire controlling Paxson stake
Mon Nov 7, 2005 01:07 PM ET
By Derek Caney
Yahoo Finance at www.yahoo.com
NEW YORK, Nov 7 (Reuters) - NBC Universal on Monday said it paid $25 million for an 18-month option to buy a controlling stake in Paxson Communications Corp. (PAX.A: Quote, Profile, Research) , a move that could give the television giant control over a network of 60 stations.
The option gives NBC the right to buy out Paxson's chief executive, Bud Paxson, who holds a 63 percent voting stake in the company. Bud Paxson also said he was stepping down as chairman and chief executive of the company he founded as a network aimed at so-called family friendly programming in 1991.
He will be replaced by Brandon Burgess, who was previously NBC's executive vice president of business development, effective Nov. 10. Paxson will become chairman emeritus.
The deal addresses a four-year battle between the two companies, that stemmed from NBC's $415 million purchase of a Paxson stake in 1999. At that time, televisions stations were believed to be beachfront property as U.S. regulators were considering a loosening of ownership caps on television station ownership.
NBC, which currently owns a 29 percent stake, had designs on buying the remaining stake if U.S. regulators raised ownership caps, but instead turned to other deals, such as the purchase of Spanish language network Telemundo. Since then, NBC has insisted that Paxson is obligated to buy back its stake, an obligation Paxson disputed.
Paxson saw its shares plummet from a high of $17.38 in August 1999, shortly before the deal was announced, to 41 cents a share at Friday's close under the weight of mounting debt and performance issues. Its shares were up around 83 cents in Monday afternoon trading on the American Stock Exchange.
The two companies continued to struggle with a number of issues, including Paxson's decision to switch from network programming to mostly infomercials, a move NBC said devalued the company's assets.
All outstanding legal disputes between the companies have been settled as part of Monday's deal.
NBC paid $1 per share of Class A stock and $1.15 per Class B share for the option to buy Bud Paxson's stake. The option gives NBC the right to pay another 25 cents per A share and 29 cents per B share for Paxson's stake.
It must also make a tender offer for the remaining Class A shares at $1.25 a share, a price that increases 10 percent annually until a tender offer is made. Bud Paxson owns 100 percent of the Class B shares and 24 percent of Class A shares.
NBC cannot currently exercise the option, since such an acquisition would place the network over the Federal Communication Commission's ownership limits. But it can transfer the right to another company, which would then be obligated to buy all of Paxson's Class A stock outstanding.
Randy Falco, president of NBC Universal's Television Networks Group, said he has not yet approached any companies about transferring the option. But he did not rule out approaching companies such as Yahoo Inc. (YHOO.O: Quote, Profile, Research) and Google Inc. (GOOG.O: Quote, Profile, Research) , in addition to other traditional media companies.
"Internet audiences have been looking for many ways to reach audiences and get content," he said. "Yahoo and Google would have to be considered potential partners."
If after 18 months NBC fails to find another company to take on the option or it fails to make an offer itself, NBC will transfer $105 million of its convertible preferred shares of Paxson stake back to the company, an amount that increases by 10 percent annually until an offer is made.
If converted, those shares would amount to a 40 percent of Paxson's outstanding shares.

As many of you are now aware, Bud Paxson has just resigned as CEO of PAX. There is a new man running the company and he may not be aware of the support STFBEYE has as he is coming from NBC Universal. If you are interested in voicing that support... now it the time to do so.
You may write him at:

West Palm Beach, FL 33401
or try his email at viewermail@pax.net or viewermail@paxson.com (Note - many IPs have been blocked by PAX so this may or may not work).
This is a crucial time as the Winter Lineup is under consideration....While the Johnson brothers did state we as fans should not write other networks, PAX is still fair game.

Just want to clarify...does this mean it is okay to write to the new CEO about funding the show again and airing new episodes or should we just stick with letting him know we want them to keep airing the reruns?
It's hard to know what is going on with the schedule on PAX/i now. They change it at least every week if not more often. It also doesn't look like they are going to air the reruns of "Bad Girls" and "Ending and Beginnings" since they left off with "Mind Games" and are now going to start off with the Pilot eppys.

Mr&MrsHudson, I believe it would be completely appropriate for you to share your hope that they would bring the show back, not just continue airing re-runs. It is doubtful that he is aware of how much support we have shown, nor the fact that it hasn't waned all these months after we saw "The End... for now". Certainly, we would want to be respectful, but this is a chance for us to be heard by someone who has a real opportunity to take action.

I agree with Janet it is quite appropriate to express our hopes that they will continue STFBE production. I'm sure that Mr. Burgess is already aware of the high ratings STFBE does get on the PAX network, even with the reruns, but he may not be aware of our unflagging support since we saw "The End..for Now". It sure wouldn't hurt to write to him and tell him of our hopes for our beloved show to come back.
But the question I do have is this...would Mr.Burgess care to hear from Canadians about the show? Should I say how popular it is in Canada and what CTV has said about STFBE? It is one of the highest rated Canadian-made show (I know, I said that a couple of times already...)

. I just wanted to know if that is appropriate to say to the new CEO.

This show truly has shrunk our world and Starbuck, you, TinaLynne and all the administrators and moderators have provided the tool to make this happen.
Thank you with all my heart! And I will continue to hope and pray this wonderful show will resume.

Lynn
