Final golden rays of the setting sun, laced with hues of pink and purple, peeked through the window. He spared it only a glance, knowing instinctively that he didn’t have much time. The plan had been set in motion months earlier, every minute detail painstakingly deliberated and carried out with absolute precision. There was no room for error.

He turned to survey the ingredients that had been carefully laid out for assembly. Though he’d committed them to memory months ago, he kept his notes close at hand. An error at this juncture could ruin everything.

The slight tremor in his hand betrayed his inner tension. Odd, really. He was committed to this course of action… had chosen it, had looked forward to this night, to what would happen as the events of his plan unfolded. He had no intention of turning back.

It was time. Taking a deep breath he reached for the first item and carefully began to measure…

It has been a year since he proposed to his love on the Florida beach, and six months since the woman whom he loved more than anyone became his wife. They were really happy in the past year, and he knew that this happiness would last forever.

Everything has to be perfect… today he cannot do anything wrong. He put the cookie into the oven contentedly… Now he only has to wait. The cookie is ready soon, and he’ll surprise his wife with the perfect present on their anniversary.

While preparing the apartment for the arrival of his love, he remembered the events of the past year. Although months have passed since then, it seemed as if everything had only happened yesterday. Lucy, the matchmaker of the team got engaged with her love of years before, and they got married not long before Jack and Sue’s wedding. Tara and Bobby’s relationship was also progressing nicely; since they realized on the day of Jack and Sue‘s engagement that there is more between them than friendship, they spent a lot of time together, and Jack knew that his best friend wants to propose to his girlfriend. They are perfect for one another… and they will be very happy together – he smiled. Three happy couples who got together in the past months… this year proved to be really successful.

He laid the table with a white tablecloth, then placed the plates and candles on it, creating a really romantic atmosphere in the apartment, just like on the evening when they confessed their feelings to one another.
She’ll be here soon… and then we can deservedly celebrate our anniversary.

Everything is ready… Jack took the ready cookie out of the oven and put it to go cold. Perfect – he stated with a contented smile. He put the cooled cookie in a dish, and placed it on the laid table, then changed his clothes to receive his love conform to the occasion.

Sue entered their common home and found surprised that something strange was going on. She didn’t know what exactly was happening, but felt this evening would bring pleasant surprises.

Jack went to meet her at the entrance, and greeted his wife with a passionate kiss.
- Hi, sweetie – he smiled.
- Hi, honey – Sue returned the kiss. – What’s going on here? – she asked curiously.
- You’ll see that soon – Jack kissed her again, and covering his wife’s eyes, he led her to the laid table, then took his hands off the woman’s eyes to reveal the surprise. Sue’s breathing stopped from the sight.

- Jack, this is wonderful – she turned happily towards her husband.
- I’m glad you like it – the man embraced her again.
- And this cookie – Sue saw the contents of the dish. – You didn’t forget… - she said, with tears of joy in her eyes.
- The recipe for love… How could I ever forget – the man kissed her. – I will never forget the cookie I prepared for you on the evening when I finally gathered enough courage to admit my feelings to you – he stroked the woman’s cheek.

Jack led his wife to the table, politely drew the chair out for her, then sat beside her, and both of them took from the somlói galuska. They fed each other with the cookie, and if occasionally a piece of it remained on their faces, they removed it with a kiss.

- Thank you, Jack… - the woman said at last. – Thank you for this perfect anniversary surprise – she stroked her husband’s cheek.
- I should be the one to thank you for making me the happiest man on earth in the past year – Jack smiled.
- And you are making me the happiest woman – Sue smiled back. – And this will last until the end of our lives – she tenderly looked at her husband, who lowered his head, so that they could unite in a passionate kiss.

- I also have a surprise for you – Sue smiled when the kiss ended.
The man looked at her tenderly, his beautiful brown eyes full of love. The woman looked deeply into the eyes of her husband, took hold of his hand, and placed it on her stomach.
- Does this mean that…? – Jack’s face brightened, and Sue nodded smiling. He took his wife into his arms, and kissed her passionately.

- I love you, Sue – the man whispered, caressing his love with his gaze.
- I love you too, Jack – the woman smiled, as they united in another kiss.

A year has passed, and three couples perfect for each other got together in their circle of friends. Three couples who honestly love each other, and will spend all of their lives together. Jack and Sue couldn’t have been happier… They joined their lives six months ago, and now they are expecting a baby. They knew that their life cannot be more perfect. Yes… This has been a really successful year, full of love and happiness, and they both knew that these would accompany them throughout their whole lives.
