OK... This is the first part of my story for the Anniversary Challenge.
Thanks to Takira for the title. Enjoy.
Jack and Sue lay in each other’s arms on the couch; the man was stroking the arm of his love, while occasionally pressing kisses to her cheek. Jack proposed to the woman two months ago, and she happily said yes. Since then, they had been planning their wedding to take place in a few months, and enthusiastically prepared for their life together. Their common life, which would start soon… the couple couldn’t wait for the weekend when they would make another step towards their common future, and move in together. Sue has already started to take her things to Jack’s apartment, and they planned that in a few days everything will be ready for them not to separate ever again. They were both filled by happiness at the thought that their dream for three years will become true soon, and they can always be together… fall asleep in the arms of their love in the evening, and wake up to their kisses every morning… When they admitted their feelings to each other at last a little more than two months ago, they both knew they have found true happiness.
- Do you know what anniversary it will be this week? – Jack asked, stroking the woman’s hair.
- How would I not know – Sue smiled. – It’s exactly three years that we have met…
- It’s been three years since you stormed into the bullpen… and three years since I’ve fallen hopelessly in love with you – Jack continued, kissing the woman’s forehead.
- I can tell this about myself too – Sue tenderly caressed the man’s cheek. – Three years I’ve been in love with you… – she pressed a brief kiss on his lips.
- Remember when three years ago you stormed into my office, demanding a transfer? – Jack drew the woman closer to him. – I looked up from the monitor of my computer, and my breathing immediately stopped when I lay my eyes on you. It was as if a dream would have been standing before my desk… you were so beautiful even then. And I immediately knew I love you… That you are the woman whom I want to spend the rest of my life with – he tenderly kissed his sweetheart.
- And I knew right then that you are the man whom I’ve been waiting for all my life – Sue drew closer into the man’s embrace. – But that first meeting… I was incredibly embarrassed. I stormed into the bullpen, demanded a transfer, and you told me the personnel’s office had moved two floors up… It was so awkward – she recalled smiling.
- But you were so beautiful – Jack kissed her again. – After that, I was unable to concentrate on work; everything I could think of was how I could see you again… So I was really happy when I saw you in the cafeteria.
- And I felt incredibly lucky that such a popular man as you chose my company, instead of lots of beautiful women, who would have given everything for a single word of yours…
- For me you were the most beautiful even then – Jack placed a kiss on her hand. – And since then, there isn’t any other woman for me, only you – he looked deeply into Sue’s eyes, his beautiful brown eyes full of love.
Not being able to hold himself back any more, he tenderly caressed the woman’s face, and softly kissed her, then hearing her soft moan, his kiss turned passionate.
- I love you, Jack – Sue smiled, when they separated gasping for air.
- I love you, sweetheart – the man tenderly looked at his love, before his lips touched hers again.
- And, what will we spend our anniversary with? – Sue asked a few minutes later.
- I don’t know… - Jack smiled mysteriously. – But it’s possible that a special surprise is waiting for us…

I could probably think of something, but I don't think this is that kind of story.
-clears throat awkwardly- Anyway!
Wonderful start. I love seeing Jack and Sue in love and snuggling on the couch and kissing...

The New Englander was walking home absorbed in his thoughts. How come they don’t have a super elegant suit, which can even be envied by Hollywood stars? – he grumbled. – I won’t come here any more… - he decided, while thinking about how it is possible that there do exist things which even a person of aristocratic origin cannot get.
He suddenly realized that someone had bumped into him. He looked up angrily to upbraid this person for this shameful impoliteness, but looking at this person, he was surprised to recognize an old friend.
- Nora! I’m so glad to see you! – he exclaimed smiling, forgetting his morose mode.
- Myles, what a pleasant surprise! – the woman smiled as well.
- How long is it that we haven’t met? – Myles asked.
- Quite long… - Nora replied. – When we had lunch together.
- But after that you left the country for a long time, to gather material for your newest book, thus we didn’t have the chance to meet…
- Indeed, but now I’m home, and I will stay here for a while – the woman smiled.
- This is great. Maybe fate wanted us to meet now… do you know what will be in two days? – Myles asked.
- The hottest day of summer? – Nora asked back. – I don’t know, but now that you’ve asked, I’m dying of curiosity.
- It will be exactly 850 days that we first met – Myles said.
- Do you know this so well? – Nora asked surprised.
- Of course – the man replied, as if this was the most natural thing in the world. – It was one of the most defining moments of my life – he smiled, remembering the events of almost two and a half years before, when he by far didn’t have such good opinion of the woman. – And since we didn’t have the opportunity to celebrate the 500th day, I thought I would take advantage of the occasion and ask you whether you would have dinner with me.
- Have dinner, to celebrate the 850th day of our meeting? I would be glad about that – Nora smiled. – You are a really precise man to remember such things as the anniversary of the 850th day – she added.
- Well, I’m just like this – the man laughed. – Always thorough and going into details. I’m glad you accepted my invitation for dinner… Then I’ll pick you up on our anniversary at seven, will this be good?
- Perfect – Nora said. – I can’t wait for our anniversary dinner.
- Me either – Myles replied. – And now that we have agreed on this, can I accompany you for a while? – he asked.
- I would be glad about that – the woman smiled and took the man’s offered arm. – They started walking, looking forward their common dinner with great expectations, when they would celebrate the anniversary of their first meeting.

Kaci, I'm glad about that, this was just the aim.
Lynn, we seem to have the same opinion about more and more things... Myles & Nora are my favourite couple besides Jack & Sue and Bobby & Darcy. I would have loved to see her in more episodes in the show.- Good morning everyone! – Jack stepped into the bullpen cheerfully, holding the hand of the smiling Sue.
- Well-well, what is this great joy? – Myles asked.
- They are in love, will get married soon, isn’t this enough? – Lucy gave him a piercing look. – Maybe you should try it.
- Thanks for your interest, we are really glad about that – Jack smiled, still holding the hand of his love. – But we are celebrating the anniversary of an important event this week – he looked tenderly at the woman.
- That you admitted her at last what we had all known from the first moment and that in the romantic atmosphere of the sunset at the sea you proposed to her? – Bobby grinned.
- Almost, Crash – his best friend looked at him. – But now it will be three years that Sue stepped into my life, and three years we have been in love with each other – he kissed the cheek of his love.
- Which you tried to deny for a long time… - Myles remarked. – Not as if everyone except you wouldn’t have seen how much you love each other…
- Harvard, would you stop at last? – Jack gave him a piercing look. – How long will you keep mentioning this?
- As I know him, as long as we live – Sue smiled. – But I’m glad that although a little late, but we told our feelings to each other – she pressed a kiss on her fiancé’s lips.
- Those two days in Florida was the most beautiful weekend of my life – Jack returned the kiss smiling.
- If I can ask, continue this at home – Myles looked at them disapprovingly. – If you haven’t realized it in the past years, this is a workplace.
- Oh Myles, don’t you have any romantic feelings? – Tara broke out. – You should really go on a date… Then maybe you would be more understanding.
- But you shouldn’t take a workplace for… - the blonde agent wanted to object, but the computer genius stopped him.
- We’ll talk about this later, I suppose we’ll have plenty of chances to listen to them – she said. – So, this means you felt good at my parents’ house, and who can you thank this to… - she smiled.
- When you agreed on this girls weekend and I had to be away from Sue for more than just a few hours, I realized I cannot live without her, and I felt I must see her immediately – Jack drew his love closer.
- So early in the morning you got to your car and came to Florida, to wake the princess of your dreams up with your kiss – Tara recalled musing. – How romantic…
- Good that you called Jack and asked him to come, since however great I felt at the girls weekend, I surely wouldn’t have resisted two more days without him – Sue smiled at her flatmate.
- And since then, you are together all the time… a real dream couple – Bobby stated. – But I hope you won’t feel you are unable to spend a single hour without her…
- But he is already doing this – Myles said.
- Harvard, this is called love – Jack drew his fiancée tightly into his arms. – If you would occasionally have a date, you wouldn’t need explanation.
- If you want to know, I’m having a date tomorrow – the man said, curiously awaiting his teammates’ reactions.
- Date? You? – Lucy asked surprised. – With whom?
- With Nora – the man replied, as if everyone should know he had met the woman again.
- Nora Albright? – Bobby asked. – That Nora Albright, whose book you wanted to write? – he grinned, and Myles gave him a piercing look.
- I write really well, just not everyone recognizes real talent – he looked at his teammate.
- She wants to write the main character about you, talks a lot to you so that the character is authentic, then you immediately start writing the book, and she doesn’t value this too much, how surprising… - Lucy shook her head.
- I don’t understand why I’m talking to you, when you obviously don’t have too much talent for literature… - the New Englander grumbled.
- We don’t understand either why we are talking to you, when you always know everything better… - Bobby shook his head. – So, are you taking Nora to a restaurant? – he returned to the previous topic.
- Yes, we will have dinner in a really fancy restaurant – Myles replied in his usual aristocratic mood.
- Harvard, I think Nora doesn’t care about this at all… - D said. – She just wants to be with you, no matter where you take her.
- But I would like to impress her – the blonde agent replied.
- I thought your personality has already done that… - Lucy looked at her, and Myles gave her a piercing look.
- The restaurant is just an addition – he said at last.
- Well OK – the rotor replied. – But I believe she would be just as happy about a dinner prepared by you, as an evening in the fanciest restaurant – she said, and the team burst out in laughter when imagining their teammate while cooking.
- We are celebrating the 850th day since we have known each other, and I want to celebrate our anniversary in a perfect way. Maybe a dinner at home or ordering a pizza would do for you, but I would like to do it properly – Myles said in his usual superior manner.
- 850 days? – Bobby asked in disbelief. – Do you know this so well?
- Of course – Myles said. – I always keep important events in mind.
- You haven’t had a date for so long that you know exactly when you met Nora, or this woman is really so important for you? – Lucy asked, but Myles’s look towards her gave the answer to the question.
- And how are you celebrating your anniversary? – Bobby asked, looking at his best friend. – I hope you don’t want all this stuff.
- No way – Jack smiled at his love. – We just want to celebrate that fate brought me together with such a wonderful woman; we don’t need an expensive restaurant for this.
- The only thing what matters is to be together – Sue snuggled closer to her love, who kissed the woman on the forehead, drawing her tighter into his embrace.
- A real couple in love – Lucy looked at her friends smiling. How much effort it required until they admitted their feelings to each other at last… the two of them had meant the greatest challenge of her career as a matchmaker. And now they are here happily, in love… However long it took to get them together, one just had to look at them to see that it was definitely worth it.

Lucy sat on the couch smiling. Her best friends are beaming of happiness, and now they are preparing for their wedding… And it seemed happiness has also found Myles at last. She smiled when recalling the man’s face, when he said he would take Nora to a fashionable restaurant, since he wants to celebrate their anniversary properly… But Myles will never change… he always wants the most perfect from everything. Of course Nora is a great person, and deserves the best from everything, but I’m sure that the only really important thing for her is to be together with Myles, the scene is less significant.
She was brought back from her musing by the ringing of her phone. Who is this so late? – she thought, then sighed when seeing his team-mate’s name on the screen.
- Hi, what can I do for you? – she said, hoping she can close this conversation soon.
- Actually, very much… - she heard the man’s voice, and knew that her hopes about the short conversation were over for good.
- What happened? – she asked suspiciously.
- It’s an emergency… Everything is over – the man sighed.
- But tell me at last what happened! Myles? – Lucy said, more and more nervously.
- Yes, so… The restaurant where I was supposed to take Nora… was burnt down – he said at last. – Now what should I do, where should I take her? It’s impossible to book a table at a single restaurant now, they will all be full on our anniversary – he finished, while desperation obviously taking control over him.
- Myles, calm down! – the woman said. – The problem isn’t as big as you think.
- The problem isn’t that big??!! – the agent burst out. – One of the most beautiful days of my life is ruined, and you are saying there isn’t such a big problem??!!
- Myles, if you would listen to me, we could find a solution – Lucy said calmly.
- Solution? What solution? – the New Englander asked, hoping the woman would save the situation with a useful idea.
- For example… Have you thought you could also cook for Nora? – the woman asked, waiting for the answer of her teammate holding her breathing back. She wasn’t disappointed.
- Me, cooking? – Myles asked shocked. – Do you know at all what you are talking about?
- Well, it has some risks, but for the moment, this is the only meaningful solution… of course, only if you don’t want to receive your love with a pizza – Lucy replied.
- No, not that… - the man mused. – But cooking… After all, for me even preparing a sandwich counts as cooking, how could I get on with food requiring serious knowledge?
- You don’t need to cook food which is better than the ones in the best Parisian restaurants; what really matters is that Nora sees you prepared for the evening, and will be happy, whatever you cook – the woman calmed him. – Now search for some easy recipe on the internet, get the ingredients, then start doing it, and you’ll see it will be ready soon, and you’ll be wondering how much afraid you were of preparing such a simple food. And if you got stuck somewhere, call me and I’ll help you – she offered.
- Thanks Lucy… I will… - the man said gratefully. – But now I’ll hurry, so that our anniversary dinner is ready soon.
- OK… and don’t worry, there won’t be any problems – Lucy reassured him, although she wasn’t sure that in the next day her phone won’t ring every five minutes, so that her teammate can ask her such difficult questions like what is the difference between a teaspoon and a tablespoon, or whether he should lay the table with a white or a coloured tablecloth.
In the meantime, Myles raised the chosen recipe sighing, knowing he is looking forward one of the hardest days of his life.

Taking a deep breath, Myles started studying the recipe. Mediterranean chicken penne… Calm down, Leland, it worked for Sue, it can’t be that hard. I’ll just prepare those four ingredients; and the preparation is barely more than four lines anyway, it cannot mean a problem. And you catch dangerous terrorists every day, a simple recipe really cannot mean an obstacle.
Let’s see… I have to buy chicken, but there is cheese, tomatoes and olive oil at home… and I think there are some olives left as well. Then I’ll write a shopping list… I’ll go over to the supermarket, and within minutes I’ll have everything I need.
A short time later he studied the sheet of paper walking round the shelves of the supermarket, putting in his shopping trolley everything he needed. But he suddenly stopped, and as the last chance, he immediately called his friend.
- Luce, what is penne? – he asked quickly, as the woman answered the phone.
- Myles, that is a type of Italian pasta. Ask a shop assistant if they have it, but if you don’t find it, any type of pasta will be good – the woman reassured him, knowing that this wasn’t the only phone call she will receive from her teammate in the course of the evening.
So an Italian type of pasta. Understandable, after all. Now I’ll go and search for one; however it doesn’t absolutely have to be penne, the recipe still says that, and I want to use that one.
Great… I have everything – he stated a few minutes later, while heading towards the checkout. I’ll cook such a delicious dinner for Nora she has never eaten before – he decided. That I haven’t really had the chance to cook in my life so far? – he thought. But one must start everything at one point… And for cooking, this is the best occasion – he smiled, while with the ingredients in his hand, he headed home.
- Then let’s start… - he took a deep breath, while putting the ingredients on the table. Let’s see… Roast the chicken… What on earth is roasting? Surely it just means putting it on the frying pan, and it will be roasted by itself… But… What is this? – his glance stopped at one sentence.
- Lucy, what is „boil the pasta”?
- Harvard, have you ever made pasta in your life? – the woman asked, sighing at the thought that she would certainly have a long night.
- Well… I believe, once at the university… My mother didn’t send me food, and my friend responsible for cooking got ill just then… He couldn’t have done this any other time… And then I couldn’t go to a restaurant either, thus I had to prepare my own lunch – he recalled his anger of years ago, when he found out what unsuitable task he had to carry out.
- I suppose it was a shocking experience… - Lucy said, happy that her teammate cannot see her now. How can anyone not know how to cook pasta… Oh sure, this is Myles – she sighed. – And do you remember how you cooked it? – she asked, and she could only hope that the man knows at least this much about cooking.
- I don’t know, but it didn’t really have a good ending… - the New Englander said. – Thus I had to be content with pizza ordering… - he recalled the memorable day when he had to suffer such a terrible blow.
- Well OK… Listen to me – Lucy took a deep breath, and briefly explained him how to cook the pasta. – Was this understandable? – she asked, hoping for confirmation.
- Yes, I think so… - the man replied. – I’ll check how I get on, and then I’ll call you to say how I succeeded.
- OK – Lucy sighed, feeling this won’t be that easy.
- Well then… A pot… But which one? Yes, this one will be good. How much water do I need in it? Yes, maybe this much will be good… Or not, it’s as if it would be too much… But then where should I put the pasta? Doesn’t matter, I’ll leave it this way, and it will turn out… So now I’ll put the water to boil… Great… Until then, let’s see the rest.
- So I’ll cut these… I said this would work, it’s as if I would have done this all my life. Great… and this is done. But I still don’t know what “roasting” means. Anyway, I’ll put the meat to the frying pan, it can roast there. By the way, I have to cut it to slices for that. Where is the knife? Oh, in the drawer. Then I’ll cut it to slices… Ready. What is with the pasta? What did Lucy say, when does it boil? As if the water would have to bubble. Well, this definitely isn’t bubbling yet. So I have to leave it a little more.
- So, maybe it will be good this way. So put the pasta into the water, and stir it until it starts boiling again. What is “boiling again”? Oh, until it starts bubbling again. So pasta in the water… But now I should stir it for minutes? What will happen with the others? Can I stir it while cutting vegetables? No, I can’t do two things at once. When will it start boiling again? I have other things to do than standing here and stirring pasta. Oh, maybe it will be good now. So fire turned off, lid on the pot, and leave it there for a few minutes for the pasta to be ready. Great. Until then, I can finish cutting the rest of the vegetables.
- Where are the tomatoes… Oh yes. Ahh, the oil bottle fell over. Fortunately there wasn’t much in it, otherwise I would be sliding in the kitchen. Then let’s wipe it… and now I almost knocked the plate off the table, with all the vegetables on it. I have everything, then maybe let’s finish cutting them. Oh, now the knife hurt my finger. Cold water quickly… bandage… Great; by the time Nora gets here, I’ll look like as if I would have just got home from hospital. But I should finish cutting the vegetables, otherwise I’ll never be ready.
- Vegetables cut, it’s time to take a look at the pasta… Well, it definitely doesn’t look like the picture on the package… - he stated, when taking off the lid. – But appearance is deceptive sometimes, let’s trust in my talent for cooking. Although it didn’t work last time either. Anyway, let’s trust this is good now. Goodness me, salt… - he suddenly realized that he forgot an important ingredient. – Can I spread it now? – he mused. – Let’s try it, it cannot do any harm… OK, and now let’s filter it… Is it certain it has to look like this? – he looked again at the picture on the package. – Well, it looks like this, and that’s that – he said determinedly. – But if Nora doesn’t like it… - he was overwhelmed by desperation. – Then we’ll eat a sandwich or I don’t know. Although this isn’t the most perfect food for an anniversary… But it doesn’t matter now, you have started to cook, try to make the most of it – he encouraged himself.
- Then we’ll put this to one place… What does “mix” mean? I’ll ask Lucy… I see, sure. Am I right when thinking there was a little nervousness in her voice? I really don’t know what makes her do this, I just phoned her for advice. Anyway, let’s continue. So meat cut, put this on the pasta, and spread Parmesan over it… Ahh, done. Now the question is only what it tastes like. Well, it will turn out soon. But first cleaning, how does this kitchen look like… my mother would certainly run as far as Oregon if she saw this. Remains of vegetables… olive oil… spices… Why I started this cooking at all... Oh sure, because there isn’t a single suitable restaurant in Washington, where I could have reserved a table. Then cleaning over… Ahh, now the oil has flown on the floor, now I have to wipe it. And now I almost slipped on it… Huh, this was hot. But this is all; I believe nothing more left to clean. I’ll put this to the refrigerator now, and lay the table… Great… Everything is ready, time to change clothes – he sighed, relieved from the thought that he successfully performed the most important task for today.
- Well then… Which suit should I put on? – he mused. – Yes, this will be perfect… - he smiled. – But Myles, this isn’t a date! – he rebuked himself. – But this is an anniversary dinner, and at least as much important – an inner voice said, and he realized he would like to listen to this sound more than anything.
- This is the one – he decided for the elegant clothing. – I’ll take a quick shower, to receive Nora clean on this important event… and after that, I can put this suit made by the best designer on. I hope Nora will like that too.
- Great… Everything is ready to receive Nora… Dinner cooked, everything cleaned, elegant clothing put on… Now only one thing is missing – he headed towards the wardrobe to get a few candles. – Perfect – he stepped back a few minutes later, admiring the lights of the candles. – Now I only have to wait.
His heart started beating faster and his breathing increased when he heard the doorbell. She’s here… I hope everything will go perfectly – he took a deep breath, as he went to answer the door.

Myles and cooking?! Well, it can be a good choice...

- Good evening, come in – he smiled at the woman embarrassed.
- Good evening, Myles – Nora smiled. – So, you invited me for a dinner cooked on your own? Sounds exciting.
- Yes, there was a little problem with the restaurant where I reserved a table, thus there wasn’t another possibility… - the man started, but Nora didn’t let him finish.
- To tell you the truth, I’m glad about that – she said. – There is nothing better than celebrating at home, and I can’t wait to experience your cooking.
- I honestly hope I won’t disappoint you… - Myles said with unusual humbleness.
- I’m sure you are a great cook – the woman smiled, and Myles felt Nora deserves much more than a dinner made of his own.
- Well then… We can eat – Myles led the woman to the table, and politely pulled the chair out for her. – Lady, dinner is ready – he said, and put the chicken penne on the table, then sat down, and after the woman took from the food, he followed her example.
- Then let’s see the Myles Leland III.-type Mediterranean chicken penne – he took the first bite to his mouth, then a little later put his fork down shocked. – This is… Quite strange – he said at last, still not able to get rid of the unusual taste of the food. – Of course it was strange that it looked differently on the package, but I thought it would be good because it’s unique, Myles Leland III.-type… But this… How can any food go so bad? – he looked uncomprehendingly.
- Don’t be sad, cooking isn’t my favourite pastime either… But you spent a lot of time with this, you tried to do this really well, and this is so kind of you – Nora said.
- Yes, of course trying is nice too, but Myles Leland III. can’t do anything wrong! – the agent broke out. I wanted that if I can’t take you to a restaurant, everything to be perfect… and this is what it resulted in; in the great effort to make everything as good as possible, I put the pasta to water either too early or too late, and it wasn’t cooked as much as it should have… and I left the meat too much on the fire.
- But at least you tried it, and this is really great from someone who gets the closest to cooking when he prepares eggs on the plate – Nora said.
- But this is a special evening, after all we are celebrating, and I ruin the food – Myles sighed. – Sorry for destroying your evening – he looked at the woman.
- You didn’t ruin anything – Nora smiled. – And anyway, the allegedly ruined food makes the best ones. My mother once made the cream for the cookie wrong, and it turned out it is even better this way… - she recalled.
- Your mother must be a really wonderful woman, if she raised such a great daughter as you – Myles looked at her.
- Your parents can be really proud of their child too – Nora smiled, being perfectly serious about what she had said.
- I would like to think the same… But I have to admit that although I always try to look the perfect agent and man, this isn’t so at all… I hate to admit that I’m just as sensitive as anyone else – he admitted his secret, which he hadn’t told anyone else before.
- We are all sensitive, although we wouldn’t like the others to see that – Nora stroked the man’s arm.
- Yes… we wouldn’t like others to see us weak – Myles agreed.
- But I don’t see you weak at all… it’s just that now the food didn’t come out the way it should have –Nora said. – But I’m not any better in cooking, and I don’t like it either – she admitted.
- Then two people are sitting here who cannot cook at all, but sometimes they still try it, in case it still ends up well… - Myles laughed. – So, do you have any ideas for solving the situation?
- What about trying to prepare something together? – the woman suggested. – Maybe we’ll be more successful together.
- I’m curious what two completely incompetent people can do – the man smiled. – But let’s try it, it will be interesting. I think there is some instant food somewhere… and we cannot do that too wrong – he looked at the woman, and headed towards the kitchen, then took the package out smiling. – A little water, microwave oven, and it’s ready – he said, while taking a few dishes from the cupboard.
- This looks really good – Nora stated a few minutes later, when she took out the ready food from the microwave oven.
- Yes, indeed – Myles said. – Then can I serve the food, lady? – he asked smiling, while sitting at the table again.
They ate dinner in a cheerful atmosphere, recalling different funny stories from their lives, and they felt that maybe it is still better that the programme of the evening changed somewhat compared to the original plans.
- This was really good – Nora stated, after they both finished eating.
- Indeed… - Myles said. – Is it possible we can still cook?
Nora smiled and pressed a light kiss on the man’s lips. They both trembled at the touch… and they both knew that this moment meant the beginning of a new phase of their lives.

On the evening of the anniversary of their meeting Jack organized a special surprise for his fiancée. He was about with all his efforts to make the evening perfect for his love… he wanted to properly celebrate the day when the woman stepped into his life, changing it for ever. Her best friends took Sue walking and watching a film, so that the man could prepare for the evening undisturbed. He bought everything necessary the previous day, so now he only had to deal with cooking. He put the ingredients on the counter, and taking a deep breath, he started preparing the anniversary dinner.
He decided to prepare a cheese food, which he had found on the internet a short time ago, and looked really good in the picture. He needed three types of cheese… Camembert, Roquefort and Gruyere. He was a bit afraid of the task; he hadn’t roasted anything else than meat before, and feared the cheese would flow everywhere, and then they can eat pizza… No way, on this evening everything has to be perfect! – he kept telling himself.
Looking at the ready food, he stated contentedly that it was perfect… just as Sue deserves it. He put it aside to cool, and in the meantime, he started baking the cookie. I hope she will be glad about it… We have so many pleasant experiences with this cookie… and we both love it so much.
A little later he found smiling that the favourite cookie of both of them was perfect… just like the main dish. Putting the dinner aside, he laid the table, putting candles on it to create a romantic atmosphere in the apartment. He looked at the sight smiling. Perfect… - he stated. Now only Sue has to arrive, and one of the most beautiful evenings of our lives can start.
His heartbeat was in the sky and his breathing also quickened when he heard that the woman entered the apartment. She is at home at last – he smiled, heading out to receive his love, so that the evening for which they had been waiting so much could start.

Sue stepped into the apartment smiling. She couldn’t wait to be in the arms of her love again, feel his kisses… She felt really good with her friends, and the film was entertaining, but she terribly missed the man, as always when they had to spend more than a few hours away from each other.
- Hi honey – Jack greeted her smiling, and took the woman into his arms. – I terribly missed you – he kissed his fiancée.
- Hi sweetheart – the woman returned the kiss. – I missed you too…
- And how was the girls’ afternoon? – Jack asked.
- Really good… we laughed a lot, but I terribly missed you – she kissed her sweetheart again. – I barely endure such a long time without you… - she snuggled close to her love.
- I’m glad to hear that… - the man smiled, softly kissing his fiancée. – But you are here now, and we don’t have to separate ever again… - he tenderly looked at her.
- Sounds good… - Sue kissed him back. – If I could, I would never go away from beside you… - she stroked her love.
- Come, there is a surprise for you – Jack smiled mysteriously, holding his fiancée’s hand, drawing her to the living-room.
- Jack… This is wonderful – Sue hardly found words for the feelings which overwhelmed her at the sight.
- Happy anniversary, sweetheart – Jack took her into his embrace, kissing her lips. – And I hope we’ll have plenty of more opportunities to celebrate our love.
- Thank you – the woman whispered with tears in her eyes. – I love you – she smiled at her love.
- I love you too – the man stroked tenderly the face of his sweetheart. – May I? – he asked, then led the woman to the table. – Lady… - he smiled, while pulling out the chair for Sue. – Dinner is served – he said, putting the food on the table, then both of them took from it.
- This is really good – Sue stated, tasting the food. – Remind me to always leave cooking to you – she smiled.
- Anything for you, my love – Jack smiled as well, drawing closer to the woman, pressing a kiss on her lips. – Can the dessert come? – he asked, then came back with another tray a few seconds later.
- But Jack, this… - the woman said surprised.
- The cookie of love – the man smiled. – Do you remember? – he tenderly looked at his love.
- Of course I remember – Sue recalled smiling. – An old family recipe… You prepared this when we got together…
- And I thank my family every day ever since for keeping such a great recipe for a long time… - Jack pressed a kiss on her forehead.
- Just as I – Sue smiled, kissing her love again.
They ate the cookie feeding each other, just like on the evening barely more than two months ago, when they confessed their feelings for each other at last, and their lives interweaved forever. When a piece remained on their mouths, they removed it with their tongues smiling… and this always ended in long, passionate kisses. They didn’t stop kissing even when they ran out of cookies… this evening was only theirs, when they celebrated their meeting... the day which changed their whole lives.
- Just a moment – Jack said, when he drew away from his love for a few seconds. He went to his room, then Sue suddenly felt strange vibrations.
- What’s this? – she asked the returning man, while he took her in his arms again.
- Romantic songs – the man smiled, and Sue felt incredibly lucky that the love of her life is even listening to love songs for her.
- I love you – Sue stroked the face of her sweetheart.
- I love you – the man softly kissed her. – May I? – he stretched his arm to ask the woman to dance.
Sue snuggled to the embrace of her love smiling, while dancing to the rhythm of the man’s heartbeat. Jack held happily the woman of his dreams in his arms, feeling exceptionally lucky that he can live his life with the woman whom he loves more than anything in the world. They were dancing silently in the middle of the room, with great happiness in their hearts… and they both knew that they belong together forever.

- And, how is living together like? – Lucy asked smiling, when at the weekend the team gathered in the apartment of the couple in love.
- I can’t really tell you too much, since we have only been living together since yesterday… - Jack smiled. – But experiences so far are really favourable – he softly kissed his sweetheart.
- I can confirm that – Sue smiled as well. – This was one of the best decisions of my life – she returned the kiss of her fiancé.
- I think I’ve already told you to do these when you are alone – Myles said. – Some people may be disturbed by… such things.
- And we’ve told you that if you find a girlfriend, your way of thinking will also change – Bobby said.
- But I think we don’t have to wait too much for this… - Lucy grinned knowingly.
- I don’t understand what you are talking about – the New Englander tried to pretend he wasn’t interested in what the rotor was saying.
- Am I right or am I right when thinking that you aren’t telling the truth now? – the woman asked. – How was your anniversary with Nora?
- Well… I tried to cook, but didn’t really succeed, so we prepared instant food, which was much better – Myles looked at the writer, trying to close the topic as soon as possible.
- So you cooked together with Nora… This means something – the rotor stated smiling. – And after that?
- After that we talked, laughed, this is it – Myles replied embarrassed.
- Are you sure? – Lucy raised her eyebrow. – Have you forgotten that kiss? Although this isn’t characteristic of you… - she stated smiling, waiting for her team-mate’s reaction.
- Kiss? How do you know about that? – Myles asked reddened.
- Lucy knows even more than this; things about which we wouldn’t think she knows at all – Tara looked at him. – But I thought that the working together in the past few years was enough for you to be aware of this.
- That’s right, I know quite a lot… - the woman smiled mysteriously. – And my spies reported that this anniversary dinner was a little more than a conversation between friends… So tell me, what exactly happened? – she looked at the couple, who would have liked most to sink under the ground from her gaze.
- Well yes, so… We were so happy we could save the dinner that Nora kissed me… - Myles started. – But this was it, nothing more.
- Just a simple kiss – Nora said. – Nothing more.
- Nothing more… - Lucy looked at them, not too convinced. – If that was just a simple kiss, I’m Britney Spears – she shook her head. – I hope you won’t cause me so much trouble as Jack and Sue… It took three years for them to admit their feelings for each other at last, and I wouldn’t like to re-live all the suffering again – she said. – So I trust you’ll gather your courage sooner and confess what you feel for one another, and then we won’t have to endure years of suffering – she looked at the couple, who listened to the woman reddened, but both of them knew that Lucy is perfectly aware of their feelings… and looked at each other with the determination that after this friendly gathering is over, they will honestly talk about their feelings with each other.
- Now that we’ve talked about this… How was your anniversary? – Lucy looked at the couple in love of the team with sparkling eyes.
- Wonderful… - Sue smiled. – The man of my dreams cooked for me… and prepared the cookie he made two months ago… and after that, he listened to romantic songs together with me… - she recalled daydreaming. – Well, I couldn’t hear that, but felt the vibrations, and it’s almost the same – she added.
- I would do anything for the love of my life – Jack smiled, pressing a light kiss on the lips of his fiancée, who returned the kiss.
Lucy looked at the couples in love smiling. Here are two people, who, although they are obviously in love with each other, haven’t gathered enough courage to talk about their feelings… but she was sure that eventually the love of the blonde agent and the writer would win and they would get together soon. And here is Jack and Sue, who got together after many sufferings, and with the passing of a long time… But she knew that this relationship was worth every suffering… They are made for each other. Two couples who are deeply in love with one another, and will spend their lives together… She felt the most at these times how she likes playing matchmaker. How beautiful love is – she smiled, looking at the couples in love again.
