Thank goodness it took her the entire time to plan the wedding so she did not leave the office. Now, I must be awfully tired this evening, Cath, b/c I'm confused on the $10 bills Will found in his pocket. Did Jack somehow slip them into his pocket? Now does Jack have an idea on how he thinks they can get back to present day Toronto?

Great post and now that they solved the mystery case they can go back home. But where did the roll of $10 bills come from???

I couldn't find my comment above, so reposted it here and then found it had posted above after all. I must have accidentally been looking for it in another story. I've deleted this one. Gee, I started this day off with mixing up Lorna and Ivory and now ending the day posting twice! I think I need to get some sleep!

Chapter 18

Holding her in his arms Jack looked around, they were standing in the police station, except it wasn’t number 4 station. Above the fire place in a small office hung an oil painting of Queen Victoria, the shelves were lined with books, a quill pen and paper were sited centrally on the antique desk.

‘I had the strangest dream, except it can’t be a dream because I was awake’ Jack murmured, checking his watch, mere seconds appeared to have passed since they walked through the door.

‘Me too’ Sue smiled, tracking her hand down his left arm and gasping as he yelped in pain.

‘Maybe it wasn’t a dream’ he lifted her left hand and kissed the diamond and ruby ring gracing her hand.

Digging in to the pocket of his jeans he pulled out two wedding rings as Sue pulled out 4 sheets of paper containing her wedding plans.

‘In case you wonder if I meant it, I meant every word. I love you Sue and I can’t wait to be your husband. I want to spend every minute of every day telling you just how much.’ He pulled her in to his arms and kissed her passionately, groaning softly as she nipped his lips seeking access to his mouth.

‘I love you too Jack’ she whimpered as they parted for breath.

‘How about we go back to the hotel and finish this conversation, I believe we have a wedding to plan.’

‘Already planned’ she waved the sheets of paper under his nose.

‘That’s him, Jack, that’s Will….’ she pointed to the small picture resting on a shelf.

‘Inspector Murdoch’ Jack tapped Sue to indicate the presence of a guide and they spun around.

‘Inspector Murdoch, credited with bringing a number of new investigative techniques to Toronto at the end of the 19th century… he was a man ahead of his time…..’ the worker continued.

‘He made it’ Jack smiled as they left the station.

‘Made what?’ Sue asked.

‘He said he didn’t think he’d make inspector because he was Catholic, he made it……’ Jack explained, his heart pounding with pleasure for the man who had continued to speak for the dead.

Pulling out his wallet Jack smiled to himself, it was empty and he knew that his efforts to leave his money with Will had been successful.

Stopping at an ATM, then at a pharmacy to pick up a small pack of dressings they returned to the hotel.

‘Jack you really should see a doctor’ Sue carefully wiped the blood from his arm before inspecting the clean but jagged cut on his upper arm.

‘I’m tough, I’ll live’ he smiled, grinning as she rolled her eyes in frustration before applying a dressing.

Her gaze went across to his chest followed by her hands, the temptation to touch too great.

Groaning as her hands splayed across his muscular chest Jack placed his around her waist as he pulled her closer, dipping his head and kissing her hard, slipping his tongue past her lips and thoroughly exploring every inch of her mouth as her tongue danced with his.

‘Room service?’ he suggested as they parted for air, chuckling as Sue nodded somewhat breathlessly.

I love it! I started to quote but realized I'd have to quote the entire post, Cath! Took my breathe away! But the part I think I liked the best? They get to relive all those moments again, so they still have time to go to Niagra Falls on their way home. Maybe they will get married there? One can always hope! Let me rephrase that...maybe they will get married when they stop off at Niagra Falls on their way home. After all, it is supposed to be the honeymoon capital!

I enjoyed how they made it badk to the 21st century with their relationship in full bloom. That was a great touch for the guide to tell then that Will had become an inspector.

Cath, could Sue please get some Vitamin E capsules so she can cut them open and squeeze the oil onto Jack's wound? It's supposed to do wonders at preventing scars and I find myself quite distraught over the thought of Jack's lovely chest being scarred for life. We don't want him to turn out looking like this guy do we?

Sorry, but I got behind. Working at home doing repairs has kept me quite busy and very tired.
Anyways, I was so happy that when they got back to the present that all was not forgotten. I'm also pleased how Jack told Sue that he meant what he'd told her in the past and that he still wanted to marry her.
Food? Jack wants to order room service? Figures! He is a man, afterall! Always thinking of his stomach!!

I love this story and hope to see more of this type from you in the future! You definitely seem to have your finger on the pulse of Murdoch!

I find myself torn between laughing hysterically at that, and anting to cry at the prospect of Jack being marred in any way. What to do , what to do!?!?

Well now Cath, I seem to be in a fog over that kiss as Sue was tending to Jack's wound. Wouldn't want to expound on that would you?

Chapter 19

Waking later than planned the following morning Jack cuddled Sue into him, kissing the top of her head as she slept.

He’d used her blackberry the previous evening to tell his parents they were now engaged and pretty well had the wedding planned and Sue had enjoyed a lengthy conversation with them after they’d given him a very hard time about taking so long to make his move. To his dismay Sue had joined in the gentle teasing as she forged a bond with the two people who had helped him become the man she loved.

As she closed the phone he kissed her in to submission, beginning with her neck, moving on to her throat and concluding with her lips before handing her phone back so she could ring her parents.

They too had been thrilled, her dad had subjected him to a ‘look after her or else’ talk before congratulating them both and pronouncing himself satisfied with Jack’s answers.
His t-shirt had disappeared somewhere as they cuddled together on the couch before he’d persuaded her to stay with him for the night, reassuring her that she could trust him and melting when she quietly told him she knew she could trust him totally not only with her life but her beliefs.

As she fell asleep, her head on his shoulder, her hand over his heart and cuddled in his arms he’d allowed tears of joy to trickle down his cheeks as he offered up a prayer of thanks that God had given him another chance and this time he’d taken it before he too drifted off to sleep.

Lifting her left hand to his lips he kissed the ring tenderly as she continued to sleep before smoothing her hair away from her face.
For more than 4 years he’d loved her but today the depth of that love had grown a thousand-fold.

As Sue cuddled in to him he sighed softly, content to simply hold her.
She knew he was awake when she opened her eyes, feeling a soft waft of air blowing across her head as he kissed her. Her fingers tangled in the dark hairs across his chest as she kissed him tenderly before moving just enough to be able to read his lips.

‘MORNING LOVE YOU’ he signed anxious to become not only more fluent in her first language but to use it more often instead of words.

‘Love you too hun’ she kissed him gently, moving her hand to cup his cheek, deepening the kiss as his chest rumbled his response.

‘We should go Jack’ she whispered somewhat reluctantly.

‘Or we could stay here all day’ he suggested, winking outrageously at her and grinning as she blushed furiously.

‘How about we save that for a time when we’re married?’ Sue tried to move from his arms but his grip tightened around her.

‘You’re suggesting that we spend a day in bed when we’re married?’ he teased, yelping as her hand caught his knife wound as she attempted to swat him.

‘Well not all day since we’d have to walk Levi…….’ she stopped talking, aware she was beginning to dig herself a very deep hole.

‘You’re right, we should get going, as good as it would be to stay here with you in my arms…..’ he sighed longingly.

‘So you can still hold me on the boat at the Falls’ she pointed out, giving him a last lingering kiss before moving from the bed.

‘Sounds like a plan’ he grinned, lying back and watching as she moved around the room before heading to the shower.

‘Soon’ he promised Levi, hanging up from ordering room service.

Exiting from the quickest shower he’d ever taken he picked up Levi’s lead and walked him before returning to the room to find Sue dumping all her bags on the couch, ‘I figured I might as well vacate my room’ she explained, suddenly unsure that was what he wanted.

‘Sure?’ he asked softly.

‘Sure, I know between us we’ll stop ourselves from going too far, but tonight I want to fall asleep in your arms……’

‘Have I told you today how much I love you?’ he asked softly, wrapping his arms around her waist while ensuring she could read him.

‘I don’t believe you have’ she whispered.

‘I love you Sue……..’ her response was swallowed by a long, slow kiss which left them in no doubts just how much they loved and were loved.

‘Feel free to tell me as often as you like, Jack’ Sue whispered as they parted.

Exiting the hotel hand in hand they headed for the Falls.

‘Ok, so we could go for a trip on Maid of the Mist to see the falls up close and personal then go the White Water Walk behind the falls and if we have time we can visit the Niagara Parks Greenhouse, go have a look at the flowers and tropical birds or the Niagara Parks Butterfly Conservatory ‘a lush tropical environment with 2000 free-flying butterflies.’’ he suggested flicking through the guides as they ambled to the car.

‘Sounds good’ Sue smiled, ‘it would be good to come back again wouldn’t it? When we have more time…….’

‘Yeah’ he nodded, he’d considered it as a honeymoon destination but since he had other plans for what they’d be doing he wasn’t convinced they would see an awful lot of Toronto.

‘It’s magnificent’ Sue breathed as they waited for their ride on the boat.

‘Not as magnificent as you’ he whispered caressing her cheek.

‘Jack Hudson, you say the sweetest things’ she murmured as her hand stroked his cheek. He’d looked so adorably sexy when she woke up, she’d persuaded him not to shave, loving the rugged appearance.

‘Get used to it sweetheart, I plan on saying nice things to you every day, at least once a day, probably more than once a day, for the rest of my life…….. and each time I’ll be able to say it where you can read me rather than when you couldn’t…’

‘You told me you loved me when I couldn’t read it?’ she asked softly, blinking back the tears filling her eyes.

‘More often than you will ever know and I will ever remember’ he admitted, ‘and each time I prayed that I would find the courage to tell you when you could read it…… I think God got pretty sick of me asking for one more ‘one more chance’….’ he chuckled.

‘Maybe he was pretty sick of both of us, I don’t know how many times I asked for the courage to give you more than a little hint ……’ she leaned in to him and kissed him gently, wanting more but aware of the people around them.

Retrieving Levi from the small pay-point after they’d enjoyed the boat ride and the walk behind the Falls they found somewhere for lunch then visited the butterfly conservatory before returning to the hotel.

‘I’m taking you out for dinner tonight’ he explained as they exited the car at the hotel.

‘Jack I don’t really have anything suitable, a pair of black pants and a red blouse is the smartest I have…..’

‘That’ll do for me’ he smiled, Sue in red reminded him of the bachelor auction and their first kiss as well as the stunning dress she’d worn when they went back in time.

Ordering some coffee to be sent up Jack sought advice from the receptionist about a nice restaurant, making the reservations before following Sue up to their room.

‘WOW’ she signed as they entered the rather sumptuous restaurant ‘you can’t afford this Jack……’

‘Let me worry about what I can afford sweetheart, one of the many things my dad taught me was how to make the best use of my money and save wisely. It’s a lesson I learned well…….. don’t worry about things, ok? Just allow me to spoil you and make some of my dreams come true, and yours I hope.’ He grinned his sexy lopsided grin and tapped her nose and she nodded silently, unable to argue when he looked at her like that.

‘I had a wonderful day Jack’ she whispered as they cuddled together, after a wonderful meal Jack had led her to the small dance floor and they’d spent an hour or so dancing together.

‘ME SAME’ he signed, ‘LOVE YOU’

‘I love you too’ she whispered, snuggling closer and resting her head on his chest before falling asleep, comforted by the strong, even beat of his heart she felt reverberate through her cheek.

awwwwwwwwww, I want a Jack! Christmas is coming, do you think you could put him in my stocking?????

with joy that on their first full day back they are finally expressing their love for each other. I can just see the wonder of it all in their smiles, their eyes, their touch, their dancing and their kisses.

Linney, I meant ‘only his arm’ as in it’s not his chest which was cut which some people seemed to think it was. He received a small cut to his arm.

Chapter 20

Dragging themselves out of bed and finishing the packing they should have done the night before they grabbed breakfast and raced to the car, anxious to avoid the Monday morning rush hour.

‘Ok, so now we don’t have any distractions maybe we could finish planning the wedding’ he suggested, lifting her hand and placing it on his thigh, his hand covering hers as he drove.

Sue rolled her eyes, she’d argued fairly forcibly about driving but he’d silenced her with a very long, passionate kiss before opening the passenger door and gently pushing her inside, whooping triumphantly as he switched the engine on.

‘I can drive you know, Hudson’ she commented wryly.

‘I know…… honestly, you can take over later, when we’re out of the city…’

The car ate up the miles as they planned the wedding, agreeing the guest list, the wording for the invitations, the hymns and the people they wanted involved. Sue wrote a list of the things she had to arrange and a list for Jack and a third for the things they still had to arrange together.

‘So, do I get to drive now?’ she asked after they’d stopped to walk Levi and grab some lunch.

‘I’m good for a few more miles’

‘We agreed that I would share the driving Hudson’ she rolled her eyes.

‘Did we?’ he chuckled, he loved it when she did that and he could see a twinkle in her eyes and the corners of her lips curl as she tried to stop herself giggling.

‘You are impossible Hudson’ she swatted him gently on the arm, however much she protested she loved his protective streak, his willingness to do whatever he could to make her life a little easier. As he switched on the engine Sue prayed that she would never find it an annoying habit, would never be driven to distraction by him.

Hitting DC they stopped to pick up take out before driving to Jack’s.

‘I’ll see you in the morning’ he whispered kissing her softly after they’d walked Levi and he’d taken her home.

‘Yeah, and tomorrow we’ll talk to D and make the phonecalls…. I can’t wait to be Mrs Hudson’ she murmured.

‘And I can’t wait to be Mr Thomas’ he teased, kissing her once more before reluctantly heading home.

Jack is adorable and I love the way he silences Sue.....How could she drive afterall; having him sitting beside her looking so yummy? I'd be in a wreck in no time; my eyes on him instead of the road! But, I digress, and need to solidify myself before heading to work!

Did I start the confusion about the arm vs chest? If it was me it was probably because I was imagining said manly chest bared and then in my stupor of a swoon lost all my sensibilities and mistook the blood oozing from the arm he cradled to his manly chest as coming from the manly chest which caused me untold heartache and a mild case of hysteria....if you get my drift.
