I can't wait to see the team's reaction at the letters!!!
mionebristow
Midge blew out an impatient breath, waiting for the team to arrive at work the next morning. She’d been waiting for about an hour, her little pointed nose pressed to the looking glass that would allow them a birds-eye view of the bullpen.

“What time did you get here?” Nick asked as he walked into the office.

“I haven’t been here that long.” Midge said defensively. “Just a half hour… or three.” Her cheeks flushed slightly.

Nick shook his head. “I understand.” He said, tweaking the end of her ponytail. “Just let me know when they get there and I’ll call Maggie.”

“Okay boss.” Midge said, turning her attention back to the glass again. It was a little more than an hour later when she popped her head up and excitedly called him over. “They’re here… they’re there…” She frowned slightly. “Doesn’t matter… call Maggie!” She danced an excited jig before she pressed her nose against the glass again. It wasn’t long before Nick and Maggie were bending over her, their eyes also on the bullpen that they were watching.

~~ ~~ ~~ ~ ~~ ~~ ~~ ~ ~ ~~ ~~ ~~ ~ ~ ~~ ~ ~~ ~ ~~ ~~ ~ ~

Tara ruffled through the papers on her desk, frowning slightly when she came across the silvery envelope. Her name was written on it in a flowing script. She glanced up, seeing that the others were all turning over similar envelopes. She shrugged slightly, reaching for her letter opener and slitting the envelope open. The letter inside fell out with a puff of glittery dust.

“I thought of that part on my own.” Nick whispered excitedly as they watched, seeing a silvery sprig of mistletoe form out of the cloud of dust and float to perch on the ceiling above the middle of the bullpen. A similar clump of mistletoe formed at the midway point between Sue and Jack’s desks as well. Maggie and Midge shushed him as they watched with anticipation as everyone started to read the letters.

At the same time, four heads raised, looking across the bullpen to find the matching set of eyes that had been searching for theirs. Tara stared at Bobby, his green eyes looking back at her. Sue stared across at Jack, almost losing herself in the chocolatey depths of his eyes. The four of them stood and moved away from their desks, forgetting where they were as they met at a mid way point, still staring at each other.

“Lucy… Did you?” D motioned to the mistletoe above the two couples.

“Me… no.” She shook her head, watching them, seeing Myles look up briefly before he reached for a pen and paper and started to write something.

“Oh.” D cleared his throat. “Well come on you guys.” He said, motioning them to look up. “You’re under the mistletoe.” He looked over at Lucy. “I don’t suppose you’d be available this weekend. My cousin Tyrone just moved to town and I was thinking you could show him around.”

Lucy’s eyes widened before she smiled. “I’m free. That would be nice.” She nodded. “Tell him to call me.” D smiled as they both looked back at the couples under the mistletoe.

Tara and Bobby both looked up at the mistletoe. “I wonder where that came from.” Tara murmured, looking at him.

“I don’t know. But it’s a great position.” Bobby smiled, reaching to caress her cheek before he lowered his head to meet hers. “May I have this kiss?” He asked.

“Of course.” Tara’s cheeks pinked. “As many as you want.” She whispered before their lips met.

Those letters certainly sparked a lot of excitement, just as we hoped they would.

hmm and then shyness for the rest of the day, but kiss stays on their minds and they just have to do something about it

12/28 - Page 7 - Post #93 - Your imagination is wonderful Mione. This little conspiracy Santa has going with Midge and Maggie continues to delight and amaze. And of course he can do anything. Now, let the fireworks begin!

This is so exciting!! I saw a movie this season about putting your letters to Santa in the fireplace and the magic would take them to him!! I love that you used the same method for Santa!! It makes it so special!!!
Joy, I thought I watched every single Christmas movie this year but I missed that one. What was the name of it?

12/29 - Page 7 - Post #102 - Right on schedule. The mistletoe was a nice touch! Diffused the awkward moment. Bobby/Tara kiss.gif chair.gif clapgirl.gif exclaim.gif

Yeah... what she said. It's satisfying, but it would be even better if a kiss actually took place. girl_sigh.gif

Perfect!! We are going to get to see the kisses, aren't we, Mione???

Gotta have a mistletoe moment! hehe.gif Oh... and Lynn... it was Santa Who? ... It has Ted Atherton in it actually... Great show and I'd never seen it before this year either. And the placement of the letters in the fire is actually Scandinavian in culture... they believe that the smoke from the fire gets the letters to Santa quicker.

“Yes!” Midge crowed and bounced excitedly as Bobby and Tara continued to kiss… his hands reaching to tangle in her hair as he deepened the kiss. They could hear the soft moan that escaped Tara as she gave in to the pressure of his lips and probing tongue. “Are the other two kissing yet?” She stretched up on tiptoe, trying to see Jack and Sue in the corner of the looking glass.

“Yes.” Maggie confirmed for her. “Sue wrapped her arms around him and he finally met her halfway to kiss her.” She smiled as Midge practically skipped across the office to dance a happy jig. “Look Nick…” She pointed at Levi. The dog was practically smiling, watching his mistress kiss the love of her life. “I’d say that everyone is happy this year… don’t forget Levi’s bone though when you go there this year. Poor thing… he really deserves it.”

Nick smiled. “Yes, he does.” He nodded. “Now, Mrs. Claus…. What can I get for you this year?” He asked, nuzzling the hollow behind her ear and pressing a kiss there.

Maggie giggled. “You’ll be busy on Christmas eve.” She murmured, shifting in his arms, letting the team in the bullpen enjoy the holiday magic of their own making. “But can we go to Jamaica this year after Christmas? Montego Bay is a lovely spot to visit. I believe I deserve a pina colada or two.” She smiled, raising her face to study his.

“Montego Bay is lovely this time of year… not hurricane season… bluest waters you’ve ever laid eyes on.” Nick smiled. “As you wish, my sweet. Pack the bags, we’ll leave for Jamaica as soon as I wake up on Christmas Day.”

Maggie pressed her lips to his, kissing him sweetly before she managed to extricate herself from his arms and head back to the kitchen. “I’m just as delighted as you, Midge honey.” She said when the tiny elf tried to get her to dance with her. “But I really must be getting back to the cookies. I’ll send over some ginger cookies for you.”

“Great job boss.” Midge said, dancing closer to Nick. “Looks to me as though they’re happy.” She paused in her jig to peer into the looking glass again. “The others will soon follow.” She said, seeing that Myles had just signed his name with a flourish to a letter and D was on the phone with his cousin. Lucy was just sitting at her desk, looking up as Jack and Sue still kissed under their mistletoe and Bobby and Tara were still clutched in a similar embrace. “Whoops… you might need to leave a little note for Bobby about appropriate hand placement during a mistletoe kiss. He’s in direct violation of bullet point 75...” Midge said, tapping on the glass where his hands had landed on Tara’s rear. “Oh…” Her eyes grew wide. “And now she’s in violation of bullet point 99...” The tiny little elf’s cheeks flushed a brilliant shade of fuchsia. “Guess she doesn’t mind his violation of number 75...” She murmured, her eyes wide as she watched the continuing kiss between Bobby and Tara… Tara’s leg wrapped around the back of one of Bobby’s legs as he held her as close as he possibly could. "I had no idea that you could stay balanced for so long in that position..." She mumbled in astonishment.

Nick chuckled and waved his hand, making the looking glass go away. “Let them have their magic in peace.” He said, meeting the glare that Midge was shooting at him. “They’re not a soap opera to be watched. Don’t you have work to do? I know that Smidge and Wisp are needed back at their usual stations.” He raised an eyebrow at her.

Midge huffed a sigh. “Fine Boss… I’ll get back to work.” She rolled her eyes as she headed out to her desk, shaking her head as he continued to laugh at her retreating back.

Thanks Mione...I'll have to set my PC to record that one next year. I don't recall seeing it in the TV guide. And with Ted starring, it's bound to be good. I haven't been able to see anything he has been in since ST was cancelled. Also, that was interesting about placing the Santa Letters in the fire being a Scandinavian tradiion.

I loved the enthusiasm of Midge. It is very contagious and I found myself bouncing up and down in my chair while reading. chair.gif

Now, however, I do have a little request to make...not just for myself, you understand, but for all us Jack and Sue fans.

This is all you wrote about Jack and Sue's kiss? Now I know you are as much a Bobby/Tara fan as I am Jack/Sue...but, come on...shouldn't Jack/Sue have at least 50% as much time as Bobby/Tara? That's only fair...I'm having withdrawal here! sleep.gif

Thanks for the Mistletoe Moment, Mione, it was thoroughly enjoyed by spectators and participants alike.

It was on ABC Family on like December 1st... And Ted's not starring... he's a supporting character, but was very Myles-ish if I do say so myself. batting eyelashes.gif and come now... Jack and Sue were at least still kissing while Bobby and Tara were. So it's not like he just gave her some small little peck... Bobby and Tara just are a little more... unihibited... ! blush.gif

Two years later…..

Dear Santa…

I don’t really want to know how one gets onto the naughty list anymore.

Yeah, Mate… because I’ve convinced her that I’m not into Sheila’s that are naughty.

Bobby Manning! Don’t hijack this letter to Santa! You got what you deserved two years ago. Besides… I thought we were thanking him.

That’s right. We were thanking the Jolly Old Bloke. He was right dead on with those gifts two years ago. Sorry Luv… I didn’t mean to interrupt.

Anyway.

As I was trying to say before Bobby interrupted… Christmas two years ago was a turning point for us all. And we…

Like dingoes…. Forgot to sit down when Lucy brought up the subject of someone writing you a letter of thanks and gratitude.

That’s it! Coal… Santa… make sure to bring Bobby coal.

Aw, Luv… C’mon… I’m sorry. My apologies to you, St. Nick.

Again, anyway. Myles wrote a brilliant letter to those blessed powers that be and D was named our full time supervisor in January of the following year.

Lucy… dated Tyrone for a year and we were all relieved when he finally popped the question on the following Christmas, they got married in June of this year.

Myles of course was thrilled that she was happy and you’ll be pleased to know that he’s settled down. With that lovely writer… Nora Albright. They’ve been seeing each other for the last year and a half and we make sure to tease him every day about when he’ll be joining the ranks of the wedded and blissful.

Sparky and Sue … well… who would have thought that our turtle of a team leader would actually be the first to pop the question and get married…? (Bobby just can’t get over the fact that they beat us to the alter. **rolls eyes** They were married in September the year following. They’re expecting their first baby next summer. I think Sue said July. )

We would have written a letter last year, of course… but we were a bit busy ourselves on Christmas Eve. Our wedding was lovely and it was definitely enhanced by the snow that started falling unexpectedly once the service was over.

We’ve gotten what we want for Christmas… enough to last for the rest of our lives. But this year, we’re actually writing for someone else anyway… well… three someone elses…. At least until they’re able to write to you themselves. Our children. Our… month and a half old triplets.

Nicholas Kristopher Manning… he’d like a stuffed puppy dog. He can’t seem to keep his eyes away from watching Shanti as she plays with her squeaky toys.

You remember… the puppy that you told Bobby he should get me for Christmas? She’s Levi’s best friend now, they make the cutest couple… big golden retriever and this little tiny Scottish Terrier…

Margaret Joy Manning… she’d like a fluffy teddy bear. Perhaps something that seems just a size or two too large for her to play with, she’s so tiny anyway.

And… finally… for the surprise of the year… the doctors swore to us that they only heard two heartbeats. Imagine my shock that we were having three and we’d only prepared the nursery for two.

Lindsay Isabella Manning… She seems to have fallen in love with the rabbits on her wallpaper. Perhaps a stuffed bunny?

Anyway, hoping that this year finds all things well up at the North Pole for you and Mrs Claus and the elves. Things are definitely not dull around here and probably never will be again.

With the deepest love and affection…

Bobby, Tara, Nicky, Maggie and Lindy Manning

Thank you Mione...This was such a whimsical tale, so imaginative ,and in spite of the SHORT Jack and Sue kiss, I loved it. Magic was indeed in the air. I'm glad Tara got the puppy from Bobby for Christmas! :puppy:

And....I loved the ending...somehow it seems so fitting for Bobby and Tara to have three children....all in one fell swoop... LolLolLolLol.gif LolLolLolLol.gif LolLolLolLol.gif

just think of the possibilities for a sequel! slaphappy.gif slaphappy.gif slaphappy.gif

Also glad to see Lucy and Myles paired up. I always liked Nora's character and thought her relationship with Myles should be should be explored. Thanks for sharing this story with us! blowkiss.gif

Lynn

PS. Thanks for the Santa Who? channel information. I do have that channel. I've set a tickler for 11/3/08 to add it to auto recording for the 2008 Christmas season. I just love Christmas movies...almost as much as I love reading the stories out here!

suesfan
Mione, what a wonderful ending to a story full of magic!! I love the way Bobby kept hijacking Tara's letter!! And, all the information you gave us about where everyone is today was perfect!! Bobby and Tara - parents of triplets - yes, there is definitely a possible sequel hidden in there!!!

Thanks so much for sharing!!!

HAPPY NEW YEAR, EVERYONE!!!

Our… month and a half old triplets.
LolLolLolLol.gif LolLolLolLol.gif LolLolLolLol.gif Serves them right for waiting so long to get their act together. They could have done things the normal way -- one baby at a time -- but instead, Mother Nature had to work over time!!!! I love it!!!! And the letter at the end, Bobby and Tara banter, too funny...oh and I just got that they named their son Nicholas! Santa must be proud. And Maggie? Hmmmmmm. This story is definitely a classic, mione.

Good work!

What a fun story! I've been so busy that I'm just now getting around to reading these stories, and I'm glad I'm taking the time to do it! You were very creative with your letters. Loved the banter between Santa and the two women in his life. Cute, cute cute! christmas.gif
