This is just a short story. Enjoy.

Dear Santa,

Roses are red
Violets are blue
It’s no secret that
I love you know who.

Sigh...as if it’s doing me any good. Why should it be so hard to find a man – the happily ever after kind? The type who likes children and dogs and a woman with a sense of humor? Well, I guess he wasn’t hard to find, just difficult to catch. Perhaps Mrs. Claus might have some advice?

Don’t mind me, I’m not really asking for anything, just humoring my niece who insisted I write you something from the heart.

Happy holidays,

Sue Thomas

Sue put down the pen sighing. I have no idea why I’m writing a letter to Santa Claus at all… he cannot fulfil my greatest wish, as elves doing miracles don’t exist either. But at least Anna will be happy that I wrote to Santa Claus – she put the letter in an envelope, then standing up from her table, she went to her friends to the living room. But if only Anna was right and Santa Claus would really fulfil my wish which I would like the most to happen for years… - she sighed musing. But now I’m here, and he is away from me… If only he was here, took me into his arms, kissed me and told me how much he loves me

- Sue, where have you been? – Lucy tore her away from her daydreaming.
- I just… what did you ask? – she tried to concentrate on her friend, still absorbed in her dream world.
- You were thinking of Jack again, right? I should have known that… Who else could fill your thoughts than your knight in love – smiled Lucy.

- He is not my knight, and most of all, he isn’t in love – replied Sue sadly. – If he was in love, he wouldn’t have let me come here for Christmas, and he wouldn’t go away either, but he would have suggested spending the holidays together, and anyway…

- Sue, stop! – her friend interrupted her. – First of all, you wanted to come home for Christmas to your parents, and if you want to talk to him, why don’t you phone him?
- He is surely busy packing, since he is going home for the holidays too, and I would just disturb him… - she looked on the floor.

- You? – asked Lucy in disbelief. – I can tell you for sure that you could never disturb Jack; the truth is he is happy whenever he can be near you – she said.
- Lucy is right – agreed Tara. – If you appear near him, Jack forgets about everything, and from that on, only you exist for him.
- Throughout the past years we’ve really had the opportunity to get to know Jack, thus you can be sure all this is true – added Lucy.

- But… - Sue wanted to object, but her friends didn’t let her.
- I really don’t understand what you are waiting for – shook Lucy her head. – The most handsome, greatest guy in the world is in love with you, and you are here alone. In your place I would have thrown myself into his arms for a long time, happy that he loves me, although he could get so many other women.

- That’s right, Sue… You are the luckiest woman in the world that Jack Hudson loves you and not someone else – agreed Tara. – And it’s obvious for everyone that you love him just as much… it’s just that only the two of you, the people concerned are not willing to realize this.

- Girls, you are impossible – sighed Sue, but she had to admit to herself that she would like nothing more than the man of her dreams to appear, tell her he loves her and kiss her right there, letting the whole world know about their love… But this is just a dream; Jack can never be yours. He is surely on his way home, where he’ll meet a nice woman, whom he will introduce as his girlfriend… The last thought made her sad, and tried to get rid of it with all her strength. I must go out and breathe some fresh air, otherwise I’ll go crazy – she thought, heading towards the door.

- But let’s not take it for granted that the whole Christmas will be spent this way – smiled Lucy and Tara at each other; the plan was already born in their heads. – They were made for each other, and if they are not willing to realize this, we’ll take care of this ourselves.
Averil
Jack was packing for the holidays to be spent at his parents with sadness in his heart. Christmas is here, and the woman whom I love the most in the world can’t be with me… If only I had enough courage to go to her and ask her to stay at home, with me… But how could I think she would miss a Christmas spent with her parents, and stay here instead? This is only possible in your dreams, and you know this well.

He put another shirt in his suitcase sighing. But what if what Bobby has been repeating for so long is indeed true? If she really returns my feelings? I would be the happiest man on earth to have won the love of such a beautiful woman as Sue. Yes… I have to know that. Maybe all this is just a mistake, and everyone sees things the wrong way; maybe she really considers me as only a friend, but I have to know what she feels for me, because if I have to live in uncertainty for long, I’ll surely go crazy.

He immediately knew what he has to do. I hope Bobby is right… I couldn’t bear it if it wasn’t so.
Averil
- Sue, are you here? – her friends joined her in the snowy garden. – You’ll freeze, it’s really cold.
- I felt I must come out and think – replied the woman. – I need fresh air.
- Were you thinking about Jack? – grinned Lucy. – Then I’m not wondering you aren’t cold… love warms you up.

- Lucy, I thought we’ve agreed on this – looked Sue at her friend. – I came home for Christmas, Jack is also going home to his parents, we aren’t spending the holidays together, and probably I would mean a burden for him anyway, but he is really handsome, women love him, thus he’ll surely find someone soon with whom he can live together happily, and who doesn’t cause him any problems as I would, but after all, it’s understandable he decided this way, it’s hard to live together with a deaf person, and…

- Sue, stop it! – laughed Lucy at the strange behaviour of her friend. – You are again thinking of things which are not true at all. And anyway, you would never be a burden either to Jack, or to someone else. You are a wonderful woman, Sue, whom everyone loves… especially a certain dark-haired, beautiful brown-eyed, incredibly good-looking Special Agent, who is completely in love with you – she smiled, seeing Sue’s embarrassed look.

- Luce is right – agreed Tara. – As we cannot tell you enough times, there is only one woman for Jack Hudson in this world, and she is standing in the garden right now… and her name is neither Lucy, nor Tara.
- Girls, you are so kind to me – smiled Sue. – If only you were right… I would like to believe that this is the case.
- We are always right – smiled Tara. – You’ll see that yourself soon.

- That’s right – agreed Lucy. – Soon it will be obvious for you as well how much he loves you. But… - amazement appeared on her face, looking at the entrance of the garden. – How can this be? – she asked in disbelief. Her friends followed her gaze, and were surprised to see the person arriving.

- You? – asked Tara surprised, looking at the man approaching them.
- I just… thought we should rather not spend Christmas separately – Jack tried to find a reasonable explanation for being here, hitting himself on the head in his thoughts for why he is unable to utter a meaningful word in the presence of his love.

- I believe Jack hasn’t come to see us – looked Lucy at her friend, who nodded in agreement; the two women headed towards the house, leaving the couple in love alone.

Averil
- Well… Hi – greeted Jack the woman, desperately trying to find the right words which he could tell her.
- Hi – smiled Sue. – I wouldn’t have thought we would see each other so soon. I mean I’m glad we’ve met again, I was just surprised – she quickly corrected herself.

- I felt I can’t resist without you, I just had to come… I mean I’m glad we can meet again – corrected himself the man hurriedly, hoping his words didn’t reveal how unimaginable he thinks his life without the woman.

- I’m glad you came – his love looked at him, and Jack was glad the woman couldn’t hear his increased heartbeat.
- I’m also glad to be here – smiled the man, and Sue got absorbed in the beautiful brown eyes of her love.

- Shall we go for a walk? – suggested Sue, to break the sudden silence.
- With pleasure – replied Jack, starting to walk in the garden.

- How are you? – asked the woman, although only a day had passed since they last saw each other.
- Now that I can be here with you, great… I mean, I’m very well – he corrected himself quickly. – And you?
- Me too… it’s good you are here – replied Sue, blushing from the thought what the man could be thinking about her.

- The whole town is so beautiful at this time – stated Jack, looking through the area. – Everything is covered with snow, the families are playing happily… it reminds me of my childhood – he mused.
- Me too – got the woman absorbed in her memories as well. – Building snowmen, riding the sleigh, throwing snowballs… - she smiled. – Sometimes I wouldn’t mind being a child again, to re-live all this again.

- Sometimes I would also like to go back in time, to be a child again, who can play without having any problems – smiled Jack, imagining himself cheerfully playing with Sue and their common children in the snow.

- I would love to stay at home after the holidays as well… - mused Sue, stopping in the snow. – Everything is so peaceful, calm… it’s good to watch the cheerfully playing children and think that maybe we can also experience this again sometime…

- I love this place too – replied Jack. – And I would also like to live at such a beautiful, peaceful place – he said.
- Maybe this will come true one day – said Sue.
- Yes, maybe – agreed Jack. – But we have to go back to Washington soon… Look out, don’t slip! – he exclaimed, and caught the woman just in time so that she didn’t fall on the ground. – This was close – he said with a relieved sigh.

- Thank you – smiled the woman embarrassed, blushing from the thought that the man is still holding her in his arms, although she was already standing on her feet. Although if I’m beside Jack, it’s better if I have something for support, because I always become weak from his closeness – her face turned red again.

- Maybe it would be better if I won’t let you go, since the ice is slippery and we can fall any time – said Jack, happy to be able to hold the love of his life close to himself.
- Yes, that will be the best – agreed Sue, happy from the thought that the man of her dreams is holding her in his arms, even if this was for avoiding slipping.

They continued walking silently, absorbed in their thoughts. Both of them would have liked to tell so many things to one another, but they were just unable to speak. Instead they were admiring the sight, dreaming of one day walking here as a couple, hand in hand.

- What about building a snowman? – suggested Sue suddenly.
- Great idea – agreed Jack enthusiastically. – I haven’t built a snowman since I was a child, and it will surely be great fun – he smiled, and couldn’t wait to start.

Building the snowman proved to be a great occasion to often touch each other “just by chance”, and they happily used this possibility, touching each other’s hands as often as they got beside one another.

- Beautiful – Sue stepped back, looking at the end result smiling.
- Indeed, beautiful – replied Jack, not taking his eyes off the woman. – Just magical.

Sue’s breathing stopped when seeing the statement, and her heart started beating faster as the man was approaching her. Jack felt the perfect occasion has come, for which he had been waiting for so long… to finally admit the woman what he feels for her.

- Sue – he took the woman’s hands into his own. – Ever since I met you I’ve known you are a wonderful woman, and every man would be happy to spend their whole lives with you. At first I tried to deny what I feel for you, but I had to realize that I can’t… that with each day, I love you more and more – he looked deeply into the woman’s eyes, seeing in them love and tears of joy threatening to break through, evoked by his statement. – I love you, Sue Thomas – he uttered the sentence at last, for which he had been preparing for years. – From the very first moment I saw you – he stroked her face, his beautiful brown eyes full of love.

Sue found it hard to believe that what she was seeing was indeed true, and Jack Hudson, at whose feet all women of Washington would have happily thrown themselves, loves only her and no one else. She tried with all her strength to hinder her tears of joy breaking through, but finally she gave the hopeless fight up and let them free.
- I love you too, Jack… More than anything – she said at last, amid her tears.

The man tenderly wiped the tears off the face of his love, happy from the thought that the woman returns his feelings. He smiled while stroking the beautiful face, then slowly lowered his head to do what he had imagined in his dreams for so many times, and feel the taste of the lips of his love at last, the softness of her hands, as she is stroking her face.

Sue trembled when feeling the man’s lips on hers. She had been waiting for this moment for so long… and now she happily gave herself over to Jack’s tender kisses. The man kissed her passionately, and Sue felt if her love’s strong arms didn’t hold her, she would surely lose consciousness from all the feelings Jack’s touches evoked in her.

- I love you, Sue – the man said again, when they parted, gasping for air; tenderly stroking the face of his sweetheart with his gaze.
- I love you too, Jack – the woman said, opening her eyes, and felt as if she was floating metres above the ground from happiness.

- Look… I think someone has already thought of Christmas – Jack pointed above their heads with sparkling eyes. Sue followed the gaze of her sweetheart, stating smiling that her friends indeed prepared for everything, and placed mistletoes everywhere around the house.

- I knew they were having something in mind – laughed the woman.
- And we cannot act against traditions – looked Jack at her with a boyish smile, then bent his head again, so that they could unite in another kiss.

- I love you – looked Sue at him with a tender gaze, when they parted for a few seconds. – Thank you for coming, and making Christmas so beautiful.
- I love you too… more than anything – stroked the man the face of his sweetheart. – And nothing makes me happier than being here with you now, and spending this beautiful holiday together. I love you, and will always feel so – he smiled, kissing his love again, starting their new, common life.

I really like the story. It's so cute. Like Jack not letting Sue go in order not to fall (because, as we know, ice is slippery winking.gif ); and that there wasn't a need for Lucy's matchmaking for Jack to go to Sue. I believe this story should really have been written into the series, it would fit in so much. clapping.gif
