Thanks again for all your replies. Makes me chair.gif happy. For those of you who have been waiting for some fuzzies - oh wait, should I tell ya? hehe.gif

Settling on the banks , taking off their shoes, dangling their feet in the brook felt like another piece of heaven. Sighing, “this is so relaxing Jack.”

Jack warned Levi not to scare the fish away, throwing a ball in the other direction to keep him occupied while he taught Sue the fine art of fishing.

“Don’t relax to much sweetheart. School is in session. Here hold the pole like….”

“Aaaah, what was that?” Sue squealed, pulling her toes out of the water.

Chuckling, Jack informed Sue the fish were nibbling on her toes to let her know it’s time for the games to begin.

Blushing slightly, “well we’ll just see who’s going to win this game,” not one to give up a challenge.

Having cast over and over, Sue was getting a good feel for this new sport.

“I like it!”

“I knew you would,” Jack grinned proudly.

Looking up at the skies, Sue got excited as she saw a storm brewing.

“Jack, it’s going to rain any minute.”

GREAT I get to see you all wet again and the fish will be biting. I think you just may catch your first fish,” he hugged her with a kiss on the cheek.

It wasn’t long before the heavens opened and a warm soak fell upon them. Levi wasn’t sure if it was more fun to run in the rain or jump in and out of the brook, causing Sue and Jack to laugh at his antics.

“oh, oh, Jack, I feel, oh,” feeling the tug on her line, Sue instinctively reeled in after a little game of give and take, her first catch. Jumping up in excitement, “I did it, I did it,” she was laughing as she tossed it to Jack to remove from her line.

WAY TO GO Sue!” Placing the fish in the pail, and tossing the poles aside, Jack pulled her into a joyful, pride filled hug, swinging her around capturing her mouth with his own. It didn’t take long for them to feel the thrill of the rain having soaked thru their thin clothing, wondering how being soaked could cause such a fire to ignite.

Standing on the banks of the babbling brook, their passion burst into flames that no rain could extinguish. If anything, the warm rain, like a shower, intensified the passion flowing thru every nerve ending, leaving one to wonder if it were possible to be electrocuted under such conditions.

What had started as an excited congratulatory kiss, with the feel of her sweet mouth, the taste, hers alone, to be shared only with him. The feel of her skin was always like silk, but the warm shower of rain flowing over it begged for caressing. I never thought I could love like this, I need her. Spotting the towel near by, he was laying her on it, although it was wet, it had no meaning other than the need to be closer to her, as close as possible. She joined him willingly.

His kiss, the taste that is my Jack, his mouth captures mine. I cannot get close enough to him. He’s slippery. He always feels so good, his muscular body beneath my fingertips, memorized. But wet, this warm rain shower of bliss. Feeling my fingers, my hands sliding over him is making me dizzy. I need him so. He is lowering me to the ground, yet we don’t care. I need to be closer to him. He needs me…..

Their passion spent for the moment, they realized the warm rain shower had also seized. Still trying to catch their breath, Sue snuggled close to Jack. “Why didn’t you ever tell me catching fish could be so exhilarating?” Sue blushed in spite of her giggles.

Sitting up, Jack chuckled at Sue’s meaning before placing his hand on her cheek, holding her gaze, “trust me sweetheart, I have never experienced a fishing trip like this before. Only you could make this happen.”

Glancing past her, Jack pulled Sue onto his lap. Turning back to her he signed BEAUTIFUL YOU. GOD APPROVES SEE RAINBOW pointing to it.

“Jack that is the most beautiful rainbow I’ve ever seen. Look at the colors and it’s so big. Do you think God is saying HAPPY ANNIVERSARY with a rain shower and a rainbow?” she grinned shyly.

“Sue, this past year has been the happiest of my life. I’ve loved you for many years, but being married to you is beyond my wildest dreams. And I’ve had some pretty wild dreams,” winking, “all about you of course. Seriously Sue, I do thank God for the rain, this beautiful private setting and the rainbow of promise. But most of all I thank Him everyday for waking me up to your love. I will love you forever Sue.” MY BEAUTIFUL WIFE FOREVER FRIEND

“Jack you are MY HUSBAND LOVER FOREVER FRIEND. I too will always love you.”

“Shall we walk back to our little camp? Oh, we need to fetch your fish for breakfast. You hunt and fish well woman.” Jack gave Sue his best Tarzan impression as he pulled her up from the ground.

“What happened to the pail? Levi, did you knock that pail over?” Sue wagged her finger at the guilty looking beast. “You did. You let my prize catch, my first fish go.” Levi covered his face with his paws knowing he was guilty as charged. But how could they leave that poor fish in a pail while they were off doing…. I had to let the poor thing go. It needed water. I know what it is to need water… Time to give her the puppy dog look, it always works for me and Jack.

“Don’t you give me that look. Oh come on Levi. Just don’t do it again.”

Jack watched the scene play out as he gathered their belongings, having to laugh at how much alike he and Levi really were. Gee, these brown eyes really pay off sometimes, huh buddy.

“Here’s your clothes dear. A bit soggy.”

“Jack, how sure are you that this place is secluded?”

“You’re asking me that now, after we just….” he winked with a teasing grin. “Why, what are you thinking? I hope your thinking what I am picturing in my mind.”

“Jack, you’re so bad.”

“Me…how do you know what’s in my mind? And you asked if this place is really secluded….what do you expect?” he grabbed her around the waist, kissing her before she could answer.

“As far as what’s in your mind, that’s obvious, but that’s ok with me. It’s just that I don’t feel like putting these wet soggy clothes back on.”

“Then don’t. We’ll walk back to our camp and pretend we’re in the Garden of Eden. Just don’t talk to any snakes or eat any fruit off the trees,” taking her hand they started their journey back to their camp, in all their glory and unashamed.

As Jack was cleaning up camp, making sure any food or garbage was tightly sealed to avoid unwanted guests, he caught another breathtaking view. Looking up to the sky “Lord, thank You for all of this, I feel Your love for us.” Jack smiled as he ran off to retrieve his lovely wife. she can’t miss this…

Entering their tent, he met Sue’s smile and hand reached out to him.

HI

HI TO YOU TOO BEAUTIFUL YOU and that’s with your clothes on,” Jack winked. “I like your outfit. Short shorts, skimpy top are nice, very nice. For my eyes only of course.”

Giggling Sue responded, “of course Sparky, I wouldn’t want you shooting all the men chasing after me.”

Dark chocolate eyes filled with desire answered her, “No, you are all mine…Now come see what I came to show you,” taking her hand in his.” Grabbing Levi’s leash, “come Levi.” He didn’t have to ask twice.

“Where are we g… Oh Jack, can it get any better than this? Look at that sunset, it’s so…so…”

“Another gift from God. I already thanked Him.” Jack pulled her tightly to him. “Let’s sit over there and watch it go down behind the mountains.”

Emotions bubbling to the surface, tears poured down like rain.

“Hey, OK YOU?”

“I love this, I love you. I’m afraid I’ll wake up and find this was all a dream, or maybe we died and went to Heaven,” she giggled thru her tears.

“We’re not ready to die and go to Heaven. I mean, we’re ready, we know someday that’s where we’ll be as the Bible promises. But, not yet. We have babies to make.” Lord please sooner than later… “We have years to spend loving each other, inviting our little ones into the world, watching them grow and enjoying the most wonderful gifts we could ever receive. We need to grow old together so we can come back here for our 50th Anniversary.”

Sitting where Jack led her, Sue agreed. “You are such a romantic honey. I love how you love me. You will be a wonderful daddy some day,” leaning into his hug, enjoying the multi colored sunset together.

“Did you say our 50th Anniversary you want to come here?” Sue laughed. “Maybe by then we will master crossing the brook without falling in.”

“Or maybe there will be a bridge to cross by then,” he smiled at the image of them being here much older and more in love than ever, probably reminiscing over all the years and love, their children and by then grandchildren.

As the sun descended below the horizon, Jack knew it would grow dark quickly. “Let’s walk back now Sue. Levi can enjoy his walk back too,” taking his leash.

“I forgot to ask you before, why did you put the leash on Levi? He was having fun running free.”

“He was with us running free earlier. But if we get distracted, watching the sun set, he could wander off, and we couldn’t have that, right buddy.”

Levi gave Jack a low moan as if to say yea right. he’s probably punishing me over Sue’s fish…how was I to know it was their breakfast…besides I know my mistress better than you and she would never eat that poor fish after seeing it alive…

“uh, Jack, don’t you think we were a bit distracted earlier today? How much danger was Levi in?” Sue gave her best mock look of horror.

Chuckling with a tinge of a blush, knowing he was truly busted, “well, there are moments in life when it’s every man for himself. How could I think of Levi with you in my arms. I was delirious. Besides, Levi was busy rescuing your fish.” They both laughed as they entered their tent for a good night sleep…eventually.

Waking up in the comfort of his strong arms, having never let her go during the night, she looked up with a contented sigh as she inhaled his scent.

Smiling down at her was the handsome face she had memorized long ago. Captivating chocolate brown eyes filled with love, he pulled her closer in for a kiss. Feeling a groan, rather than a moan, she pulled back.

OK YOU

NO. Levi has decided it’s time for his morning walk.” Jack pouted.

Looking to where Levi was tied, “he’s not used to being restrained,” Sue commented, as she looked to the opening of the tent.

“Jack! Don’t let Levi loose yet. Look how cute they are."

Chuckling, “now I know why Levi was so anxious to leave his comfy spot. Sorry buddy. These little guys might be cute and fun to play with, but they have a mama out there close by and she probably wouldn’t trust their new friend.."

“Jack, get the camera, take some pictures before they leave.”

OK, but after the picture, I have to chase them off so mama doesn’t pay us a visit. We don’t want to mess with mama bear protecting her cubs.” he grinned.

Giggling, Sue wanted to go out and pet the cute little black cubs, but she knew Jack was right. Mama bear could be anywhere and although they had bear pepper spray for emergencies, they certainly didn’t want to have to use it

“I got a few good shots, they are adorable. They’re having a great time playing and investigating our camp. Good thing I put everything in tight containers. I wish I could let you out to play with them Levi, but I love you to much buddy. OK, say good-bye.”

Levi whimpered at the thought of missing all the fun. Sue whispered her good-bye.

In a deep loud scary voice, Jack yelled at the cubs to go, watching them run off terrified.

“That was mean, you scared them.”

“Exactly, that was the point,” Jack laughed.

“Come here sweetheart, I didn’t get my morning kiss,” Sue crawled into his outstretched arms ready to oblige. After a breathtaking kiss, Sue remembered...

“What about Levi, he’ll need to go out.”

“He’ll just have to wait. I’ll keep an eye on where the cubs head out to find their mama, now that they’re scared. Once they're gone, I’ll take Levi out for a nice long walk, even a splash in the brook. How does that sound buddy?”

“Um, Jack is that what I think it is?”

“Yup! It sure doesn't get any better than this. I wish we brought a camcorder. How often do you get to see a mama bear and her two baby cubs splashing in a brook, catching fish?” he held his breath at the sight.

“Are we safe here?” Sue chewed her bottom lip.

“Yea, they’re filling up on fish, no need to come and eat us,” Jack teased.

FUNNY YOU

“You’re right, that is an amazing sight. I’ve never seen anything like it. Do you think we’re in their territory?” Sue questioned.

“It’s ok. They’ll be off before you know it. Bears love to travel. As long as they don’t decide to take a nap,” he teased.

“So what do we do in the meantime?”

NEED YOU ASK”, pulling her into a hug, kissing her softly.

Wrapping her arms around Jack’s neck, Sue remembered his wound. “Jack, I need to clean the cut and change the bandages. I’m afraid of infection setting in. Does it hurt? Let me look?”

“Eew, Jack that has to hurt. Why didn’t you tell me? It’s all red and swollen, and icky. We have to get you to a doctor so it can be cleaned out properly. You probably need antibiotics too.”

“Yea, I can feel it. I hate to admit it but I guess I better not fool around with infection. I hear if left untreated, they can get bad, even systemic.”

“OK, after I clean the wound, you rest. I’ll pack up so we can leave.”

“Sue, you’re not going anywhere. Have you forgotten our guests at the brook?”

Looking out of the tent, Sue saw them scurrying off through the trees. “They’re gone Jack. They just ran into the woods. I guess it’s berry picking time for dessert,” she smiled relieved.

“Let me start with cleansing the wound, then you rest. Levi and I will let you know when we’re ready to go.”

“You can clean my wound Sue, but I’ll be packing and loading the SUV. You can help me,” he kissed her again. “I’ll be fine.”

Thanks again for all your replies. You're great. biggrin.gif Now on with the story.

SUV all packed up, Sue insisted on driving to the nearest doctor’s office.

“Sue, I just realized, no doctor’s office open today. It’s Sunday. Let’s just drive until we find an ER or a church. Whichever comes first, we go to first.”

“I’m starting to think tough Agent Hudson is avoiding the hospital. Are you afraid of the needles?” she snickered. “ I promise I’ll hold your hand honey, and if you yell, I won’t hear a thing.”

“Very funny. And here I thought you were a woman of compassion.”

“But I am a woman of passion Jack,” smiling cheekily at him.

“Oh I see how it is. You’re reading what you want to read? Two can play at this game. Since you’ve given up your gift of COMPASSION, I’ll be holding you to the woman of PASSION later,” smiling, he swallowed hard as images of the previous night assaulted him. I guess she won that round….is it hot in here…

“What a lovely scenic drive this is. How far away are we from civilization?” Sue questioned.

“Yea, it is beautiful up here. If we take the main road, about five miles south of here, head west a few miles, we’ll be near some towns. I’m sure we can find a church or ER close by. I’d really like to go to service first, if we can get there on time.” Jack had a childlike expression on his face, in spite of the pain.

“That would be nice. As long as we don’t put off getting your back looked at for to long.” giving him a concerned look.

“Didn’t this trip feel like being in God’s backyard? Everything so natural and free. Of course we know He is always with us, living in our hearts, but…”

“Don’t forget private,” Jack winked. “And yes, He is always with us, but you’re right, this was special.”

“I’ve been thinking…about the way I love to walk in the rain so much. It makes me feel so close to God. I think many years ago, ever since I realized Jesus died for my sins, washing me clean, the rain reminds me of that wonderful experience.” Sue felt a warmth run through her as she realized that was exactly why she fell in love with rain showers.

WOW, that’s beautiful Sue. See, I’m still learning more about you, every day…” she is amazing…I am so glad she came into my life…I love her…and she pointed me back to You Lord…she makes You so real by her life….Bless her Lord…

Glancing at Jack, seeing him quiet, a serious look on his face, she knew he was speaking to God.

“Jack, here’s a church. Are you sure you’re up to it. We could go find an ER first and try to catch a later service.”

“This is perfect, looks like we’re here just in time. Don’t worry Sue, I’ll be fine. We can ask someone after the service where the closest hospital is,” smiling as she pulled into a parking space.

This church was a little different from what they were used to. But since God made and loves us all…He’s not fussy about the different varieties of church services. Funny how people can think their denomination is right or better. God probably laughs since we’re all His children. Like a parent watching their kids squabbling . It doesn’t change their love. After all, they have to sit down at the dinner table together later. Someday, all the silly squabbling will pass away as He welcomes us into Heaven and we realize, none of it mattered. It’s all about Him and His love.

“Sue, the worship team here is really good. It’s a nice mix of traditional and contemporary. The screens with the words are really big too. Are you reading the screen or the interpreter?”

“A little of both,” her breath caught as she read the words to a beautiful familiar hymn, but there’s a new chorus to it...

GRACE LIKE RAIN by Todd Agnew

Amazing grace, how sweet the sound
That saved a wretch like me
I once was lost but now I’m found
Was blind but now I see so clearly

Chorus:

Hallelujah, grace like rain falls down on me
Hallelujah, all my stains are washed away, washed away

Verse 2:

Twas grace that taught my heart to fear
And grace my fears relieved
How precious did that grace appear
The hour I first believed

Verse 3:

When we’ve been there ten thousand years
Bright shining as the sun
We’ve no less days to sing Your praise
Than when we first begun

Bridge:

Hallelujah, grace like rain falls down on me
Hallelujah, all my stains are washed away
Hallelujah, grace like rain falls down on me
Hallelujah, all my stains are washed away, washed away

His heart gripped by the words, before he even looked at his soul mate, he knew. Wrapping her in his arms, he kissed the tears of awe, trying to hold back his own. Tears still falling free, mixed with joyful giggles, “I can’t believe that song. I’ve never seen that version. The chorus part felt so powerful, and said what I feel.”

“Powerful is a good description, especially during the chorus. He has a very deep pleasant voice. But I think we’re feeling the power of the song describing how you feel in the rain. Perfect. It’s as if the Lord is letting you know He agrees, or He likes what you’re thinking,” sliding his finger gently down her nose.

“Let’s ask the worship leader who the artist is. I’d like to buy the CD.”

“OK, after service,” he winked holding her close as they sat to listen to the message.

Driving the short distance to the ER, “I’m so glad we can finally get you checked honey. No offence but I thought I was going to be sick this morning when I saw it.”

“Huh, gee thanks, now I make you sick,” trying to play insulted but to happy to succeed. “Sue, I really enjoyed that service. How awesome was it to find the artist of the song we loved, was a guest on the day we were there? Not that many years ago, I would have called it coincidence, but spending time with you…I know better,” he smiled at Sue.

“I’m glad to read that.” Shutting the SUV down, “OK, we’re here,” moving around to Jack's side of the vehicle.

“Todd Agnew is a great guy. He’s has a Native American background. A couple in Texas adopted him and loved him, raising him in the church and he gives them credit for his spiritual growth. I can’t believe we were able to get the CD of Grace Like Rain while we were there,” laughing, “I think somebody up there likes you. No, I know He loves you, and so do I,” leaning in for a kiss.

“Thank you Jack, and for getting the CD.”

“Hey, I knew you wanted it. How could I deny you? Besides, I really like it too. I’ll always picture you running or dancing in the rain when I hear it.” Jack grinned.

“I hope that’s all you’ll be picturing.” Sue giggled with a blush as she took his hand on the way into the hospital.

What a beautiful analogy, Anne. Stunning! And tying in with the song. I'm speechless! I love Amazing Grace but I've never heard the song, Grace Like Rain. I'm going to have to see if my grandkids know his song....they listen to a lot of worship songs. An awesome spiritual post.

I hope that CD includes a scene with a rain shower in it. That would make it special for Sue. I was touched with the theme of grace.

Now what will the ER doctor have to say about Jack's back?
GinaSue
That was a beautiful post. I love that you tied in a worship song, and tied it to mature, spiritual, married love. Thank you!

Now, about Jack's back . . .

That was wonder. I agree, about Jack's back...and about Sue nearly getting sick when she saw it? Could it be she's a little more sensitive to those time things right now?

But since God made and loves us all…He’s not fussy about the different varieties of church services. Funny how people can think their denomination is right or better. God probably laughs since we’re all His children. Like a parent watching their kids squabbling . It doesn’t change their love. After all, they have to sit down at the dinner table together later. Someday, all the silly squabbling will pass away as He welcomes us into Heaven and we realize, none of it mattered. It’s all about Him and His love.

Amen to that!!! clapping.gif

“Hello. Agent Hudson, I’m Dr. Elizabeth Campbell. Is this your wife?” looking at her.

“Yes she is,” Jack smiled proudly at Sue.

“I’m Sue Hudson. I’m deaf. I read lips.”

“I guess that explains our furry friend making it past security," she laughed. “And what’s your name?”

Levi lifted his paw to greet the doctor.

"His name is Levi. He gets to go places no other dogs have gone before,” Sue grinned.

“I have a golden too. Her name is Elli. She would love to have a pass to come here. I think today she would really enjoy a visit to meet your Levi. He’d probably steal her heart.”

“I’m sure Elli would steal Levi’s as well.” Jack winked at Sue.

“So what brings you in here today?” Looking over his chart. “Let’s get that shirt off and check out the damage.”

After Sue helped remove Jack’s shirt, Dr. Elizabeth removed the bandage . As soon as Sue looked at it, she suddenly covered her mouth and ran.

“I guess your wife is a bit squeamish .”

“No, actually she’s not at all. She’s been cleaning the wound and even with all the blood she was fine. Trust me Dr., she works for the FBI too, and has seen dead bodies and didn’t get sick. Then out of nowhere she told me this morning when she saw how bad the wound was, she almost got sick. I assume that’s what just happened now.”

Dr. Elizabeth smiled at Jack. “There is only one thing that comes to my mind, since you say she’s not squeamish. Could she be pregnant?”

In spite of the pain he was in, the grin on his face showed the doctor how he’d be taking the news if that was the case.

“Umm, yeah, it’s possible. As a matter of fact, it would be an answer to our prayers. I think you’re right doctor. Can she take a test here?”

“Sure, as soon as she returns, I’ll have lab come and draw her blood. Do you think she suspects?”

“I don’t think so, she hasn’t said anything to me.” Jack’s eyebrows knitted together with concern. why wouldn’t she share this incredible news with me…no, she must not know….she would never hold this back…

Cleansing out Jack’s wound, the doctor insisted on giving him a local. “Agent Hudson , your wife did a great job with the little she had to work with and her lack of experience with this kind of wound. She was correct in suggesting you get it checked out immediately.”

Groaning, Jack suggested “do we have to tell her that? Oh and call me Jack.”

Dr. Elizabeth laughed. “OK, Jack. I’m going to numb you a little more before I proceed. I need to remove some imbedded debris, and to put it bluntly, you don’t really want to feel it with the infection you have.. But the good news is, it hasn’t turned into a serious infection or a life threatening systemic infection. Once I get this cleaned out, a good dose of antibiotics and some rest, you should be fine. You will have to follow up with your primary doctor to be sure all is going as expected. Jack, don’t ever let something like this go in the future. You were very fortunate.”

“Thanks Dr. Elizabeth, that sounds good. Much better than what could have happened. I never thought it could be that serious. I guess I better start listening to my wife more.”

“Listen to your wife more about what?” Sue questioned, still looking a bit pale.

“Are you OK sweetheart?”

SORRY my stomach is acting up, kind of queasy today.” Sue admitted.

“Sue, you covered your mouth as you ran out of here. Did you vomit?” Dr. Elizabeth questioned.

With a slight blush, Sue acknowledged, “yes, this time I did get sick. And no Jack, you don’t make me sick.”

Jack and Dr. Elizabeth made eye contact with a conspiratorial grin.

“Actually Sue, it is possible I really did make you sick.” Jack was beaming.

“And your smiling proudly. FUNNY YOU

“I think what your husband is suggesting is the possibility you may be pregnant. Do you think you could be Sue?”

Bursting into tears, Sue looked at Jack, totally overwhelmed. Fortunately, Dr. Elizabeth was quick enough to break her fall as she fainted.

Jumping from the bed, Jack was in a panic, “Sue! Dr. is she alright? What’s wrong?” Pulling Sue into his arms, the doctor calmed him.

“Jack, I’m sure everything is ok. Please don’t try to lift her. I’ll get some help.” Waving for help, that came immediately with another bed, gently they placed Sue on it. “Get lab here stat. Jack get back on that bed now and let me check on your wife. These are most likely more symptoms of a surprised mother to be, but I need to check her out.”

After some oxygen, vitals that were within normal range, waiting for the lab results, they let Sue get some rest, while Dr. Elizabeth finished working on her first patient. “Something tells me there is never a dull moment in your lives,” the doctor smiled at a worried yet excited husband , possibly father to be.

“When will she wake up? Why is she still asleep? How long before we know? Will they call you or will they bring the lab results to you? Will her fainting hurt the baby if she is pregnant?” Jack was clearly having an anxiety attack.

Understanding his anxiousness, she decided to speed up the process.

“Jack, it’s OK. Hold on, I’m going to make a quick call,” she patted his hand as she left to call the lab.

“Sue, Sue..” what am I thinking…she can’t hear me…

Poor Levi had already been told not to bother his mistress, but his instincts told him something was wrong, not only with her, but Jack was acting very strangely too. All he could do was whimper and wait.

Seeing Jack smoothing the golden locks of his beautiful wife, leaning over her face as if whispering to her, even though she couldn’t hear him. His breath upon her cheek would bring her comfort as she woke…they are such an adorable couple…so in love…OK prince charming, time to wake up your princess … Dr. Elizabeth crossed the room to join them.

“Jack,” he heard her moan. His soft whispers on her cheek moved slowly across her lips and to her eyelids in hopes of waking her.

Feeling the warmth of his breath as she began to wake was so comforting. ….my love you’re always there for me…wait…I’m here for him….Jack…

“What happened?” her eyes flew open. With a sigh of relief, Jack kissed his wife and pointed to Dr. Elizabeth.

“What happened Mrs. Hudson, is you have just been introduced to some symptoms of early pregnancy. Some nausea, lightheaded, hormones affect the emotions, and in your case, I’d say you were a bit shocked, causing you to faint.” Dr. Elizabeth smiled. “So let me be the first to congratulate you both. You’re definitely pregnant. Other than that, all your blood work shows you’re perfectly healthy.”

“Jack, we’re really going to have a baby,” Sue’s emotions were all over the place. She was ecstatic with the joy of their prayers being answered. The tears continued to stream down her face finding it hard to believe they were in fact going to be parents. The next minute she was giggling, asking Jack if he thought it would be a boy or a girl.

“Sue, I am so relieved you are ok. I was so scared when you fainted." He kissed her softly. “The doctor and I had been discussing the possibility of you being pregnant one minute, and the next I was terrified I could lose you. I can’t imagine life without you. I felt like I was on an emotional roller coaster. I’ve been told being pregnant can be like that. I promise baby to remember that as much as possible, but if I don’t, please remind me. Just tell me to remember how I felt today and I’ll straighten out.” he promised.

“Jack, I love you so much and I know you will be the greatest dad in the world. You already are the best husband anyone could dream of.” She winked at him. “What did the doctor say about your back?”

Rolling his eyes, he admitted, “she told me you were right and I should listen to you and I agreed. She fixed me up and said you did a good job. I just needed it cleaned and she gave me some antibiotics. I promise I will listen to you from now on.”

Laughing, “I promise not to hold you to it. I know you have the male phobia gene that thinks he has to know everything.”

“Hey,” he sulked before laughing.

“Sue, do you remember the rainbow after the rain yesterday?”

“How could I forget anything about yesterday,” she grinned.

“I know what you mean, me too,” he grinned with a wink.

“When I saw the rainbow, it was so big with such vibrant colors. The first thing that came into my mind was the rainbow is a symbol of promise. My next thought was our first baby. I was surprised but it went deeper. A tremendous peace came over me. I didn’t realize you were already pregnant, but I knew for sure our prayers were answered, we were promised our baby,” his heart filled with love for both mother and baby, as tears filled his eyes. Tears of joy and gratitude. “I love you so much Sue.”

“That’s beautiful Jack.”

Looking up to the Lord…Your Grace Like Rain keeps pouring down on us….THANK YOU!
