Thanks again for the encouragement! Warning, warm fuzzy alert!
I hope you enjoy this chapter, or day, as much as I did writing it!
December 17 "Jack if we're going out to dinner tonight, you are taking a nap first, or no go!" Sue signed. "Only if you take one with me," Jack signed back. "OK, I'm tired too, move over!"
"What do you mean, move over? I have a nice warm spot for you right here!" Jack grinned at Sue. "Jack, I said a nap! If you hold me in your arms I'm afraid of what I might do to you!" Am I going to survive this, Jack thought to himself?
"Jack, wake up, Jack! Come on handsome, I said a nap, not sleep all night!" Sue was now gently giving Jack a few nudges! "Errrg, tired," Jack moaned. "OK then don't take me out to dinner!" Sue bit back knowing that would get Jack's attention, no matter how grouchy he was waking up.
Jack's thoughts startled! Dinner? Wake up Jack, you can't miss this! Come on, you can do this, for Sue, for you! "OK, I'm up!" Sue giggled at how hard it was for Jack to wake up when he was tired. She almost never had that problem.
"Sue, you look lovely!" Jack cold not take his eyes off this stunning beauty of blond hair flowing over her shoulders. Her face was glowing, with just a hint of make up, natural beauty and those eyes that captured and won his heart forever. As his eyes descended he almost stopped, not sure if they would ever make it out the door, his resolve was weakening with each moment they spent together.
Sue's dress was an elegant blue that did match his shirt, with a hint of a sparkle in it matching the twinkle in her eyes. It fit her curves in ways he didn't want to want to think about at the moment. The neckline scooped down enough to be decent, yet entice him. As he saw the small shoulder straps, he finally spoke up. "Sue, aren't you going to be cold in that dress?"
Sue couldn't help the giggle, feeling very good about the effects she was having on Mr. Jackson Hudson, Special Agent FBI! "Jack, the dress comes with a jacket and I'll be wearing my winter coat over that! I'll be fine thank you! Unless you want me to change?"
"NO! No, I just want you to be warm."
"Jack, we should get going if we need to leave by 5:15!" "Yes, I agree, we need to go," Jack saw the head lights to the limo pull up, "now!"
"Jack, what's this?" "Our ride my lady!" Jack gave Sue his most charming grin with a wink. Sue was thinking, Jack said he wanted to make it up to me, but a limo? How thoughtful.
"Jack this is so sweet of you!" "I wanted us to be able to enjoy the scenery together! There are so many quaint little towns that run along the train line. I thought we could enjoy all the Christmas decorations on the way to dinner!" Jack took Sue's hand.
"So where are we going?" "There are so many nice little restaurants to pick from, but we've never been to any of them, so you'll have to wait until we get there." Jack could hardly wait to see the look on her face!
"Oh Jack, this is so much fun! You're right, if I was driving I wouldn't be able to focus on these crazy curvy roads, especially with all the hills. It makes me think of the Christmas song, Over the river and through the woods to grandmothers house we go!" They both laughed at the image. "This way I get to enjoy all this wonderful Christmas scenery, and you!" Sue snuggled closer to Jack. Jack smiled knowing so far his plan was going well.
As the limo pulled up to the huge old Victorian House that Sue now recognized was the Restaurant they had seen from the train on their way to NYC, she started to cry. "Wine and Roses!"
"Sue, what's wrong?" Jack rushed to her side. "Jack, I can't believe you remembered. This was so special to me and you remembered and made my little fantasy on the train come true."
Jack smiled and wiped her tears with his thumb. "Let's go in." After being seated at a very romantic table to the side of the beautiful Victorian fireplace, all decked out with elegant Victorian decorations, Jack ordered a bottle of champagne. "Sue, I'll be right back, need to use the men's room." "OK" Sue signed.
Jack found the maitre d' and told him he was Nadine's friend. He took Jack quickly to a side room where Jody was waiting. "Check it out Jack, she'll love it!" "Thank you so much," Jack gave Jody a quick hug. "Hi, Jack! Who's your friend?" Sue asked confused and hurt! "Oh, she's a friend of Rachel's and Marie's! She helped set this up so I was thanking her." Jack was glad he could come up with quick answers. But something in Sue's eyes told him she wasn't buying it. Jack was feeling a little guilty for deceiving Sue, but he would fess up later.
"Where's the powder room?" Sue asked Jack. "Umm, I don't know!" "I thought you said you were going to the men's room?" Sue looked more hurt knowing Jack well enough, he was lying to her, but why would he do that? "I was, I am. We'll find it!" Jack was feeling a bit nervous.
The maitre d' came over with the chalk board menu to introduce his guests to the gourmet delights being served this evening. This was one of their traditions that made each guest feel they were the only ones there! The night was theirs to be catered to like a king and his queen.
After placing their order, Jack took Sue's hands knowing what was coming next. "Sue, I love you, I'm sorry!" he signed. "I'll explain later. Tonight is for us alone." Sue felt the tension leaving and realized Jack would never go to all this trouble if he didn't love her. She did feel like his queen, or maybe his princess she smiled at the thought. Get over it Sue, she thought to herself, and looked up at Jack with a warm smile. "I love you too Jack!"
A dozen of the most beautiful long stem red roses were placed before Sue, a card attached. Sue looked bewildered and her eyes lit up, having never been treated quite like this before. She opened the card and noticed Jack go down on one knee as she read, "Will you marry me?" She looked over to see Jack signing the same question to her. He pulled a red velvet box out of his pocket and opened it. Sue was shaking, dropping the roses on the table, looking at the ring of her dreams along with the man of her dreams. "Jack, yes!" Sue reached out to kiss Jack. "Jack get up, you'll hurt yourself!" Sue was concerned. "OK, but let me place this ring on my very soon to be, wife's finger!" Jack winked and grinned!
"Jack I love it, it's perfect! How did you know?" "I pay more attention to you than you realize! I've been in love with you for a very long time!"
As Jack stood, he pulled Sue up into his arms and kissed her gently. He could hear Sue moan and forgot where they were. Together they deepened the kiss and the passionate flames were overwhelming! "Excuse me sir," the maitre d' tapped Jack on the shoulder. "Oh, I'm sorry. Sue, we better eat and pick this up later!" Jack felt his face flush.
