Chapter Eleven part bTara went to directly to Jack and Sue who were waiting for news of their daughter. She knew that if the situation was reversed she would be doing the same thing that they were: praying.
As Tara approached, she noticed Jack’s head come up and looked at her with a hopeful expression. Tara smiled and nodded herhead. She saw the relief in Jack’s face and eyes as he turned to nudge Sue, who turned to look at him and then glanced up at Tara with a genuine smile of gratitude.
Tara squatted down at Jack and Sue’s level who were currently sitting on the hard chairs from the waiting room, “Abigail is fine. The doctors and nurses wheeled her into a room,” her voice wavering, “they had to do Cesarean section because she was coming to fast and our granddaughter was breech.”
Sue gasped, “Is she going to be okay?”
Tara smiled, “Yes, she is going to be okay. She is a thriving 7 pound baby girl,” and then giggled, “from every indication she is going to be tall like her grandfathers."
Tara saw that both Jack and Sue let out a breath, that she knew that they were holding. “Would you two like to see our granddaughter?”
Jack and Sue both nodded and followed Tara to the nursery, where they found the nurses checking to make each baby was warm and snuggled in their beds. Tara pointed to the Manning baby to the nurse who brought her to the window.
“She’s gorgeous,” Sue said, with awe.
“Yeah she is, and she looks a lot like her mother and a lot like Jackson. What is her name?” Jack asked, as he gazed at his new granddaughter.
Tara nodded. She could see that as well, “She is named after her daddy and grandfather as well as her grandmothers. One of my middle names is Susannah.” Tara could feel Jack and Sue looking at her. “ Her full name is Jacqueline Susannah Manning.”
Jack had tears in his eyes as Tara was telling him and Sue his granddaughters name, he couldn’t get a sound out because of the lump in his throat. He turned to Sue and Tara and signed, “
Jacqueline is very beautiful. Her hair looks like she could have dark brown hair and possibly have brown or green eyes.”Tara nodded and then felt warm hands on her waist and she didn’t even need to turn around, with the sound of his voice filling in her heart and soul, “We raised excellent kids, don’t you think,“ Bobby said with a smirk on his face, Tara didn’t even need to look, she knew that his dimples were in full swing with the smirk. Bobby continued after a brief pause, “Abigail woke up, Jackson will be down here to fetch our granddaughter for her to see.”
Everyone nodded, to let Bobby know that they heard and saw him.
“Yeah Bobby we did,” Tara said as she patted his hand that was on his waist as they watched Jack and Sue gaze at their granddaughter.
Chapter TwelveBack in Colorado, Sam was resting after giving birth to a healthy 7 pound 10 ounce baby boy, who by every indication would be as tall as his dad, considering that his length was 21 inches. She gazed at Tony who was sitting next to the bed with a huge smile on his face and who made just in the nick of time. Sam is proud of her husband who is currently at the Air Force Academy teaching the cadets about crime scenes and how not to contaminate them.
Sam was proud of him, even with the move, he found an outlet that he enjoyed. She was also glad that, he would push when necessary but would also back off when she needed the space or be there when she needed a hand that was comforting but not overbearing. At this moment, she fell head over heels in love her husband all over again. Sam could barely heard Daniel’s question.
“Have you named him?” Daniel glanced from Tony to Sam, who nodded to her husband.
“Yes, we have but we want General O’Neill in here before we do. He has gone to get my former boss from DC.” Tony said still gazing down at his son, whose hand was around Daniel’s finger.
“No need to wait any longer DiNozzo,” said a gruff voice from the doorway.
Tony glanced up at Sam who was beaming at him, “We have named him after two important people in our lives and that have meant to world to us.”
'Some things never change' Gibbs thought, “DiNozzo.”
“His name is Jonathon Jethro DiNozzo”
Daniel heard the small intake of breath behind him. He turned his body and looked right at Jack, whose face was soft, and tears in his eyes. Being his best friend he knew what that would mean to him. Then Daniel saw Sarah wrap her hand around Jack’s waist and put her head on his back, “I don’t think Charlie would mind.” he heard her murmur in Jack’s back. Then Daniel saw Jack pat Sarah’s hand and nodded.
Butterfly was standing next to Sarah and watched her husband with the child and then Jack and Sarah and knew that a healing had taken place with Jack as he accepted and acknowledged the baby’s name. She also watched Gibbs as he walked over to give Sam a hug and then looked at Tony and said with voice full of emotion, “Good Job DiNozzo.”
“We want you and Jack to be ‘honorary’ grandfathers to him,” Tony said as he looked to Gibbs and then Jack.
Jack and Jethro looked at each other, and Jack said with deep emotion, “We will be honored to be his grandfathers.”
Tony nodded. It was good to have a happy ending to the last few months. He handed the baby to Daniel who was closest to him and then went to Sam and gave her a kiss on the forehead, “Thank you for our son, and for being the beautiful woman that you are. I love you.”
“I love you too, Tony.” Then proceeded to give him a kiss that said exactly how she felt.
