I was driving to my childhood home in Wisconsin for a family reunion. All is red, the beautiful color of the leaves is in all the road in my old town. I know, I’m late, seems that the crime wouldn’t have a holiday…so I had to work in a serious and important case, now it’s closed and I can see them again!... My family was here on time for the reunion, since my wife is only working at the house, she and the kids could fly here last week.
Oh…boy…! I’m yearning for see them again, it’s about 7 or 8 days since the last time I hugged them and I miss them a lot…

Arriving to my parents’ house driveway, at the front yard I can see a golden dog waving his tail, happy to see me…, uh…think not. Now that I can watch the beautiful picture in front of my eyes, I clearly observe why Levi is so happy. He is playing with three people, two blonde girls and a brown hair boy. Man! They are having the fun of their life, having joy with that wonderful red leaves at the grass.

The little ones are like in a game, competing for whom of them can put on more leaves in their mom head…and body so to speak. My wife is there sitting on the lawn full of red leaves and laughing at our kids antics, she can’t hear their laughing but she can see it and enjoy herself with the kids’ little amusement. I have to suppress my own laugh, if I want to see them for a little more time without get their attention.

That single little moment watching Sue, Sam my sweet five year old boy and Lizzy my cute three year old little girl, made me remember that fateful day when I met their mother, when I learn that she is deaf, but most of it, that She is a tough, sweet, kind, wonderful and beautiful human being. Despite Myles’ not so welcome to the team, Sue didn’t keep any bitterness at him, on the contrary she spoke to Ted in Myles favor, among other things... I remembered then all the people that she’d helped in all these years without expecting any reward…

I can see my mom and dad watching them from the living room window and they’re too mesmerizing at the vision. Now Levi is helping Sam and Lizzy in their task meanwhile Sue is trying to put some leaves on our kids too, that image will be in my memory for all my life. No matter how much time I’ll be here on Earth, I will always thank God for give me such a life companion, who teach me how to live.

Suddenly and without know what’s going on, I feel that something is pushing me down and then all was red and I could hear some giggles and laughing from behind. My kids are welcoming me to our little family reunion and give me the same treatment than their mother. Now I couldn’t stop laughing, Sue is lending Sam and Lizzy a hand, I can’t got waste the opportunity and grab her bringing down with me meanwhile the kids are playing with the dog – ‘Welcome home darling!’ – She said and we kissed.

Now that the little angels are peacefully asleep with Levi in my old room, my exquisite wife and I walked slowly to the guest room. Getting ready for bed and waiting for her to look at me I signed and spoke – ‘Thanks so much sweetheart!’ – ‘What for, dear?’ – She responds. – ‘For be a teacher for me all these years, without you I would be a null and void person. LOVE YOU’ – I hug and kiss her. After some time I heard – ‘You are my teacher too Jack, LOVE YOU SAME!!’ – After another few kisses we fall asleep in each others arms. I’m smiling contently. I couldn’t ask for more.
