I never wrote a winter challenge before so this is a first but I have written for the Spring/Easter 2006 challenge. So hope you like it. It will be a short story 1000 words or less.
Remember Love
'One of the special joys of December is telling others we care and remember love'
The day she entered his world, his world was turned upside down. They had some up’s and down’s as a team but still it was just enough to be close to her every single day of the week not counting the Saturdays and Sunday but close enough. she loved him but she didn't think he loved her that went on.
Until one day, then it went downhill from there. The day he found out from Myles none the less she would be leaving the team and most importantly him for the big apple. He wouldn’t let his pride show at how hurt he was she didn’t confide in him as her training agent or her friend, something more than a friend, Ok not going there.
“I’ve been offered a job, I get to be a Senior Investigative Analyst.” those were the only words he heard as he drifted away from the team,what looked like hours were mere minutes before he found her looking at him and Bobby calling him.
“Jack, Mate you ok.”Bobby asked his best friend with a concerned look on his face.
“Jack.” he said one more time before throwing the pen he was holding on to Jack’s desk
“Huh, What?” startled he managed to form those two words as he looked at his team only to find everyone staring at him.
He frowned with an expression on his face “Why are you looking at me like that for” before shaking his head and standing up making direct contact with Sue’s eyes in front of him before speaking.
“That’s great Sue.” that was all he could say without blurting out what and how he felt.
That was then and this is now, so much has changed since that almost fateful day it took almost getting shot to get the courage to say what they felt for each other.
It was Sunday Christmas Eve; even before they got to say or do anything about how they felt about each other for almost close to four years.
Jack and Sue were just heading home from the park with Levi; where they took Levi for his nightly walks before heading home. Sometimes it would be Sue alone but it was Jack with who Sue usually walks Levi.
Levi’s Leash in hand Sue walked down the street with Jack at her side. Who was slightly lost in thought. Sue took a side glance at her companion, he had a far way look on his face and one of his smiles that says “I know something you don’t”
She sighed slightly and took her free hand as she placed it in his right palm she saw that he was coming too.
“Daydreaming is not part of the FBI job description.”Sue said as she grinned with a teasing look in her eyes.
Jack raised his eye brow and took a look at his hand which was now very much entwined with his fiancées hand. He could feel the ring on his hand. He came to a complete stop and took his other hand out of his jacket pocket, and lifted his hand to touch her rosy cheeks, he slightly brushed the snow flasks of her golden locks.
“You are so beautiful and I can’t believe that you agreed to marry me, you made me the happiest man in the word, and I am eternally yours.” Jack whispered in a husky voice, though Sue could not hear him, she could see the emotions playing across his handsome features; those two never ending chocolate brown eyes were filled with unconditional love and devotion just for her. And she could not help herself by leaning towards him and lightly brushing her lips with his.
It was a tender caress that he didn’t want the moment to end, he missed her lips on his the second she lifted her face, he then took her face in his hands and gently placed his lips on hers in a lovers intimate embrace.
It was that day that they got a gift that would be cherished and loved forever by them. Their little Angel by the name of Grace Hope Hudson Their lives have been filled with the joy and laughter and happiness to a point where it felt like it was all a dream.
Looking outside the hospital room and on to the park outside George Washington university hospital. Jack was immersed in his thoughts, It was a year ago today that he married his angel on Christmas eve, he could see the soft white blanketing the streets, the cars.
He chuckled as he remembered what had happened the last 24 hours, and how he rushed to the hospital, lucky he didn’t end up in the hospital because of an accident on the icy roads. His musing was interrupted by a soft cry from behind him, as he turned he couldn’t help the soft and gentle smile that illuminated his face.
He saw his wife and daughter on the hospital bed, as if she could feel her husband’s gaze on her she lifted her head and smiled softly, Her emotions of what happened the last 24 hours clearly visible on her tired face but it was all worth it.
Jack went by and sat beside his Wife, Sue was feeding their new born daughter now that was something he had dreamed of and now it was a dream come true. Jack didn’t know how he got here but he thanked God for giving him the most precious gifts, his Wife and His beautiful Baby girl on Christmas day.
She didn't want to remember love -- not that one anyway because if she did the hurt would start all over again and she just couldn't bear that. It had taken her years to heal, her heart crusted over with scars that threatened to burst into fresh wounds every day. No. Best not go there. Not today. Not any day. With a decisive nod of her head, she carefully placed the lid back on the box and moved towards the stairs, back to the attic, under the eaves. Let it be immersed in dust and cobwebs again. Let it be forgotten -- just like he had forgotten her heart.
Was it all just but a Dream.
