Well, really, I think a shower would be the only way Sue could possibly warm up!! And, we don't want Jack to catch cold!! I'm just saying......., just making an observation......just speaking my thoughts out loud.........just suggesting........!!!

If the cat had been named Abner we would have known it was Mrs. Kravitz from Bewitched. LolLolLolLol.gif

I guess Jack's neighbor is probably a distant relative of Gladys Cravits, but not so nosy. LolLolLolLol.gif

A Partner for Life, cont.

Her hair begged to be touched as it cascaded in golden ringlets down to her shoulders. She closed her eyes and sighed as my hands coursed through her curls. Then suddenly she turned away and sneezed.

“Okay, time to get you dry.” My arms suddenly felt very empty as I released her. “Let’s go find something for you to change into." I took her by the hand and led her back to my bedroom. I pulled out my hockey jersey, the one she gave me a few years ago, out of the drawer. "This should work."

“What a great choice. This will be just perfect, Jack. Thank you.”

I led Sue into my bathroom. "There is a blow dryer in the cabinet. Let me get out some towels for you so you can take a shower.”

While Sue was in the shower, I got to work. I was suddenly a man on a mission. Before I knew it, she found me to let me know that she was finished.

I was in the middle of taking my shower when I turned to find a pair of soft, warm eyes looking at me. “Levi,” I laughed, “What are you doing here, buddy? I guess turn about is fair play, huh.” I looked more closely at his collar and discovered that Levi's collar bore a note from Sue.

"Dear Jack, Thank you for the many ways you shower me with your love. I love you, Sue."

I finished my shower, dried off, threw on a pair of sweats, and made it back to my living room faster than Michael Phelps swimming for the gold.

“Wow, that was fast.” Sue greeted me.

“‘Well, yeah, but I had a reason to hurry.”

“Did you?”

‘You bet, I couldn’t wait to get you into my arms again.”

She patted the place next to her on the couch. “I have a place all ready here for you, honey, right beside me.”

We soon began making out. My body began to tremble as the warmth she created coursed through me. I enjoyed the feel of her weight as she lay on top of me. Her gentle curves pressed against my chest. I flipped our positions and leaned over her. Her kisses and caresses were building a fire in me and my body responded to her. It must have been the trust that I saw in her eyes that gave me the ability to control myself because everything in me was calling out to take her right there and then on the couch.

We held each other as we allowed our bodies to cool. As I gazed at her, I felt pretty sure what her answer would be to what was I was about to ask her, but it was time to find out. I wanted to marry her so much it hurt. I wanted desperately to take her in my arms and show her, as a man shows a woman, just how much I love her and need her. I breathed a prayer for help.

“Sue, have I have shown you which ornament on this tree is my favorite?"

“No, I don’t think you have.”

I led Sue over to the tree and lifted one of the ornaments off the tree. She gasped when she saw that the ornament that was placed in her hands had an engagement ring attached to it. I had managed to put it there while she took a shower.

I held her shaking hands in my unsteady ones. “Sue, sweetheart, you light up my life just like these lights light up this tree. I love you with all my heart. I love working with you as my partner, but I want to ask you to be my partner for life. I talked with your dad last week and he gave his blessing to ask you this very important question today. I think that is why they left this afternoon.” I instinctively brought her hand up to my throat so she could feel the vibrations. “Will you share your life with me? Will you marry me?"

I reached over and dried the tears that were falling onto her cheeks with my hand. "Yes, Jack. I will marry you. I have dreamed and prayed about the man I would marry one day and I am so blessed and thankful that God brought you into my life."

I pulled her into my arms and twirled her around for pure joy. Merry Christmas, darling. I love you.

Merry Christmas, my love.

The last thought I had before kissing her until we were both senseless was how much I looked forward to many more Christmases to come...Christmases to share love and laughter with my beloved Sue.

THE END

It was a fun exercise to try to write in first person. I normally would have written from the woman's perspective, but I enjoyed trying to write this from a guy's point of view.

LolLolLolLol.gif What a great line! Jack definitely shucked his turtle shell for good, didn't he?

What a beautiful way for him to propose...and I love how Sue sent Levi into him with a message. I'm sure they're families will be ecstatic...but not surprised. batting eyelashes.gif

I’m sorry to be just now catching up on your story Ivory. I’ve missed being able to comment as you posted. But I have to admit, it was wonderful to read it from start to finish, with no interruptions. Schlitten-fertig2.gif

I so enjoyed reading Jack’s thoughts and the wonderful expression of love in the conversations between him and his parents. I loved the bracelet with ASL charm he gave Sue. And after reading the little boy/girl scene in the park and laughing hysterically, I cried over the wonderful note Jack’s mom left for them. The emotion your words elicited in me over that simple note was overwhelming. What better Chirstmas gift could their parents have given them then time alone with each other? Of course, with an ulterior motive in mind to give Jack the time to propose to Sue. JC_cupidgirl.gif

I loved the little rain shower which altered Jack’s method of proposal, a perfectly melting.gif
one with the ring on the ornament. But I wonder what/how he had planned to proposed? Just how my crazy mind works! LolLolLolLol.gif

Thank you for this beautiful story, Ivory. It is one I shall keep on my list of short stories to read when I need a quick feel-good pick-me-up! blowkiss.gif
