It's late in the game but this idea just CAME to me and I thought I might share it. It's short and I should have it all posted by tomorrow. I'm writing like the wind and I hope I'm posting everything in the correct format, I've never replied to a challenge before!!!
Here We Go......
Silent Night - Missing Scenesigning in italics"What am I doing?!" Jack slammed his hand down on the emtpy car seat beside him in the taxi that was in an unforgiving traffic jam. "I'm a crazy fool, I'm running away from the one thing I've ever wanted!" He could feel the tears building up but refused to let them fall, this was no time for crying, this was the time for action! "Driver, is there any way we can turn this cab around?""Sleep in Heavenly peace." Sue just finished singing and signing the last line of Silent Night. She couldn't help but feel the warmth in the room, for once thinking she might enjoy her mother's company. 'Maybe Christmas won't be so bad this year' she thought, until her eyes wandered to Jack present in the kitchen. At that moment she knew Christmas would never be alright if it wasn't spent with him.More to come later today!!

The driver looked at Jack with insanity in his eyes. "Buddy, right now we can't move forward, let alone backwards! And didn't you just say you hoped you wouldn't miss your flight? Hold on, I'll get you to the airport on time, you'll be home with your wife-y soon enough." Jack stared at him, rage boiling in him from head to toe. "One, it's Special Agent Hudson to you; Two, I realize we're in a grid lock; And three, I'm not flying home to meet my wife-y! The woman I love is sitting in an apartment in Georgetown and I've been the worlds greatest idiot for leaving her at Christmas! Now, can we or can we not get out of here?!?!"
Sue's parents said their goodnights and headed to her beedroom. Charlie had also left only after he promised Sue and Lucy he would return for Christmas dinner. Lucy and Sue were clearing away the kitchen and preparing the couch so Sue could go to sleep when Lucy accidentally knocked Jack's present to the floor, the jersey falling out of its box. "Oops, I'll get it." Lucy bent down to retrieve the gift, only then noticing what it was. Waving for Sue's attention she righted herself holding the jersey in her other hand. A huge smirk spread across her face, "Sue, is this what I think it is, and is it from who I think it's from???"

I'm sensing Jack's desire to simply get out of the cab and start walking . . . and Lucy! She's probably in heaven thinking that her matchmaking skills are FINALLY bearing some fruit!!

Traffic began to crawl once again and Jack could barely contain himself. He finally persuaded the driver to turn the car around the first chance he got but now he had to face his decision. What would Sue think? Did she even return his feelings? He knew there had been in instant spark when she first came to DC but after seeing him with Rhonda, Sue seemed to pull away and he really couldn't blame her. Their friendship was still new but he knew it had every potential to be more then that. The driver's grouchy voice broke Jack from his musings. "Traffic is finally moving but it's at a turtles pace." 'Turtle' Jack thought, 'that's the perfect term for this whole situation.""Luuucccyyyy! Please do not read into this!" Sue reached out and grabbed the jersey from her friend. She instintively held it close to her heart. "Ok Sue, have it your way. But tell me, why are you clutching it like it's your lifeline if it really doesn't matter all that much?" Sue losen her grip on the fabric but still held it as if it were more precious then gold, which it was. "Oh Lucy, what is wrong with me!" Tears pricked at her eyes, Lucy stepped toward her and gave her a hug. "It's called LOVE Sue, and I have a feeling that in Jack's little world a hockey jersey is a sign of love as well. The question is what are you going to do about it."
I'm heading out to supper soon so there will be a little break in posting. I'll be back later tonight, probably before the World Juniors game!!! GO CANADA!!!!

signing in italicsWith the cab now successfully going in the right direction Jack began devising his plan. He decided he would walk right up to the door, Sue would open it and he would recite his speech, now if he could only find the right words. "'Sue, I couldn't leave you...' no, that didn't explain enough... 'Sue, I need to be with you over Christmas...' ahh, no, that's not a good choice of words there Jack...'Sue, I love you...'" Did he really want her to open the door and that be the first words she saw, even if they were the truth? He didn't want to scare her away. Maybe he shouldn't speak at all, just grab her and kiss her until she felt what words couldn't describe. "Ahh, Agent Hudson Sir," the drive spoke up, "we've got a problem."Once the tears had dried up Lucy led her to the couch. "Sue, you can't keep going on like this. What you and Jack have is special, it's the thing of dreams, you're both just too stubborn to wake up and make it reality!" Sue shot her a look that meant to convey anger but looked more confused. "Luce, I refuse to throw myself at a man, especially if I already have a great friendship with him, I won't... I can't ruin that." Lucy tried ot compromise, "Well can you at least call him and thank him for the gift? Just talk to him." Sue reluctantly agreed, reaching for her Blackberry. She dialed the number but only received the message that the customer had their phone turned off. A tear slid down her cheek onto the screen of the phone landing directly on Jack's name.
More either very late tonight or tomorrow, depends on when the game is over!!!!!

ACK! OK . . . Jack's trapped with the cabbie . . . although I'll bet with his experience running, he could make it to Sue's . . . eventually. At least now he probably has more time to practice his approach . . . More, please??
Love the flashing back and forth between Jack and Sue. Hopefully they'll mesh soon!

Well my Canadian Boys won the gold again so here is a slightly longer post to celebrate! Jack was soaked and chilled to the bone. When the cab had run out of gas it had been Jack's idea to push it the few extra yards to the gas station. The driver offered to get him another cab but Jack shook his head. "My friend lives just around the corner, I'll get him to drive me." Calling him had been one of the hardest things he'd ever done. He really didn't want to make any privy to his intentions before he talked to Sue but if there was one man Jack could trust, it was his best friend. When Bobby showed up Jack quickly threw his luggage into his SUV and went to pay the driver. The driver offered his hand instead. "I refuse to take your money young man. With everything you do for the people I care about and for the way I've treated you, I'll call us even. Now hurry up and get to Georgetown." Jack thanked the driver and raced back to Bobby's vehicle. "Bobby, I need you to take me to Sue's place." Bobby let out a "Woo Hoo" and added, "Well it's about time Sparky, it's about time." Lucy finally retired to her own room leaving Sue with time to think. Levi was snuggled in an armchair snoring. She couldn't believe that she had actually tried to call Jack, what would she have said if he answered? That was the last time she let Lucy convince her of anything! It was bad enough that her best friend had finally got her to admit her feelings but encouraging her to act upon them, well that was another story. Jack would never push her to do something she didn't want to, he would voice his opinion but give her the space she needed and loved. Reaching for the jersey she slipped it over her pajama top. She instantly felt a connection to the man who gave it to her. The gift meant so much, it was almost like he was welcoming her into his life and that he wanted to share it with her. "Oh Sue, you're crazier then Lucy!" she scolded herself. Plopping down onto the couch she wrapped her arms around a pillow wishing it was him in his jersey instead of her in his. To update you on the story timeline we're half way there (Whoaaaa Ohhh, Living On A Prayer - Any Bon Jovi fans out there?)
The final posts will be up tomorrow, I want to get it finished before classes start on Thursday.
I'm off to bed since it is a ridiculous hour to still be up. I'll post more tomorrow morning! G'Night Everyone!

"Bobby, why are you in a Santa suit?" Jack just noticed his friend's attire. "Then again, knowing you, do I really want to know..." Bobby laughed as he turned onto another street. "Now you be nice or I'll turn this car around!" Jack held up his hands to surrender but still gave him a quizzical look about the suit. "I decided that I would go spread some Christmas cheer mate. I reckoned a lovely young journalist needed to be reminded of the reason for the season, so I showed up dressed as the ever popular Kris Kringle and took her to Mass. I was about to changed when I got a call from you, so I jumped in the car as is." Jack couldn't believe his ears. "You went to church dressed like that! And with Darcy D'Angelo?!?" Bobby smirked, "You seemed shocked mate." Jack nodded his head, "Yeah about Darcy. I didn't know you were seeing her, she doesn't seem like your type at all, so serious and cold." Bobby turned to Jack while waiting for the light to turn green. "Well who exactly is my type Sparky?" Jack looked him straight in the eyes, "Tara."Sue watched Levi as he slept, his nose twitching at the scent of a bunny he was in pursuit of in his dreams she guessed. With sleep still eluding her she went into the kitchen to make some tea, pushing up the sleeves of her jersey to do so. 'Would Jack's jersey fit him?' she wondered. She gave in and decided she would call him on Christmas day to see if he liked the gift. Cradling the warm cup in her hands Sue felt herself being pulled toward the piano now gracing her living room. She set down her cup and began to play the first song she thought of. Hoping she was playing soft enough not to wake anyone she started singing in a whisper quiet voice. "Silent Night, Holy Night." The world certainly did seem quiet right now with everyone being asleep. The house had a beautiful peacefulness to it. "All is calm, All is bright." She certainly hoped that Jack's flight was calm... She finished the song, greatful to finally feel tired. Drinking the rest of her tea and settling the cup in the kitchen, she crawled onto the sofa and pulled the blanket over her. I'm not sure if I will get another post in before I head out for the day. I'll be back after supper to finish the story. It will probably be marathon posting tonight. Hope no one minds!
Have a great day everyone!!

This has me on the edge of my seat!! I love being able to know what both Jack and Sue are thinking and doing!!!
I really like when Bobby asked Jack what type was right for him, he immediately said Tara!! I guess all turtle tendencies Jack had has flown out the window!!!
Now, Sue, you need to stay awake a little longer!! You are going to have a very special visitor soon!!!

Oh yeah, once Jack got over those
tendencies, he slipped into Jackrabbit mode!
Thanks to all of you that have been reading, and posting comments, it means the world to me. This story came out of no where and I wasn't sure if it would even work out. Hope I've entertained you ladies half as much as your stories have entertained me!
Jack took the stairs up to Sue's apartment two at a time. Luckily once Bobby (who promised to give his idea about Tara some thought) dropped him off, a woman who recognized him at Sue's friend kept the main apartment door open for him as she was going out. Things were definitely working in his favour tonight. His closed fist was just about to hit the door when he realized the state of his clothing. Not wanting his and Sue's first embrace to include a dripping jacket he took it off, but even his shirt wasn't presentable. He briefly thought of removing the shirt too but concluded that this was him and Sue, not Tarzan and Jane. Remembering Sue's gift, he quickly pulled the jersey out of one of his bags and threw it on. He tapped the door lightly, hoping only to wake Levi. She was having the most amazing dream. Jack was right in front of her looking adorable in dark denim jeans and a brown pullover sweater, making his eyes look even more chocolate. He reached down and kissed her hand, no, licked it! Slowly waking up from her precious and confusing dream she saw it was Levi trying to get her attention. "Oh boy, why did you have to wake me at that moment!" He nudged her hand once again and turned towards the door. Groggily, and highly unamused, she grabbed her coat, put on her boots and grabbed Levi's leash thinking he needed to go outside. It was the vibrations on the doorknob that made her realize Levi was telling her someone was there. Looking through the peephole she couldn't believe her eyes as to what she saw.Almost there!!!! More tonight, or this afternoon depending on where you live!

I think this is what some of you have been waiting for...
Sue dropped her coat and the leash, quickly pulling the door open. "Jack, what are you doing here? I thought you'd be on a plane by..." Jack placed a finger to her lips in an effort to let him speak. He placed his other hand around her back to its smallest part. When he thought she wouldn't try to speak again he brought his other hand to her back also, intertwining his fingers. Sue moved her left hand to Jack's arm and tightened her fingers around the strong muscles that laid beneath the jersey, testing to see if he was real. She placed her right hand over Jack's heart, startled by how fast the beats were ripping through the thin material. Looking up into Jack's eyes she began to rub his chest in an effort to calm him down. Pulling her to him, he lowered his head slightly and whispered, "Merry Christmas Sue." That was the last thing she remembered before his lips settled over her's presenting her with the most breathtaking gift, Jack's love.
One more post and it's done!!!!!!

Lying on the couch, Jack held Sue in his arms. They talked, snuggled and kissed till early into the morning. When Sue felt like she could no longer keep her eyes open she stroked his cheek and kissed him softly on the lips. "Merry Christmas Jack." Before she rested her head back onto Jack, he lifted her chin slightly and placed his signed hand in front of her and said, "I love you Sue." He wiped the tears of joy from her face and shared with her a kiss that explained the words he finally had the courage to say. As sleep crept upon them both, he slowed and ended the kiss, guiding her head back to her pillow, his chest. Sue kissed the strong body beneath her and softly said, "I love you Jack."
Her breath tickled his chest.
His arms fit like they were made to be wrapped around her.
Her soft purrs of contentment sent him over the moon.
His sweet kisses on the crown of her head made her feel loved.
Together they were perfect.
