probably not. The reason they want all that information is to know what kind of audience the show appeals to, data which they can then use to sell ads that are more relevant to the audience.

I think they also want to make sure it's a legitimate person -- not crank emails or whatever. You could definitely write a letter and not include your return address so that could keep you anonymous if you prefer. I've emailed twice and haven't had any problems. I imagine they want the postal code to assess what areas are watching -- like Web said, that would help them with demogrpahics for advertising etc.

I'm sure everyone is getting this email from Joan Considine Johnson's facebook group, but for those who didn't, here it is in full...
"Sue Thomas: F.B.Eye" is the first and only drama Animal Planet has had.
I'm sad to tell you that they have now decided that it is not a fit for their network- so they will not be running any more episodes.
While Animal Planet received more letters, emails and phone calls of support for "Sue Thomas: F.B.Eye" than they have ever received for any show - thanks to all of you! - ultimately, the network felt the ratings weren't not what they wanted.
We greatly appreciate your amazing support - and keep checking in, we may soon have some good news to report soon!
Thank you all!I'm going to bed to weep bitterly into my pillow now, but hope the good news she mentions come to fruition...

I just received my e-mail from Joan Considine Johnson as well. I am shocked! Obviously the powers that be at Animal Planet can't keep their word. It's only been on for two weeks. Where's the three months to try it out to see how it does? Why have they just ignored our letters and e-mails? Well, no more Animal Planet for me. I don't watch a lot on that network anyway accept for the occasional Funniest Animals or Growing Up series. It seems they'd rather air such stupid shows as The Cougar and throw a little more trash around like the other networks. I don't think they are really into family-friendly programming by the things I've seen lately. Okay, off my soap box for now. Had to get that out of my system.
Guess I'll have to post to my Facebook page not to bother tuning in any more. I had just gotten one of my friends interested in the show and now it's already over. I really am just in shock over this announcement. I am so sad as I know everyone else will be when they get the news. I really hope there will be some good news soon. I really was starting to gain hope again. I know how many of us loyal fans there are all over the world. I know we all tried so hard to help spread the news and gather more new viewers. And, according to Joan's e-mail, Animal Planet even admitted they received more letters/e-mails/phone calls of support for STFBEye than any other of their shows (and, in such a short period of time - my comment). Just two weeks...I can't believe it..only two weeks and it's already over.
Well, I guess we just keep praying folks. That's all we can do now...just keep praying that this door was closed for a reason and that God has something even better planned for the show. With all that is going on in this country now, God knows we need something positive.

I guess that I am the eternal optimist. I noticed that Joan Johnson mentioned in her update that there may be good news to report soon.

I'd like to think that we might not know at this point just how much ammunition our letters of support may have just given the Johnsons for STFBE, and also for future programs like it. Did you notice that Animal Planet said they have received more letters of support from this show than from any other? Great work everyone.

Thank you, Ivory, for BEING that eternal optimist! When I read that, I had several things run through my head. Maybe official DVDs? Maybe a movie? Maybe they're working with another network? I'm sure they've had more things going than just Animal Planet.
We can be ever hopeful, ever prayerful, and remember what Sue told Betty in "Breaking up is hard to do" and is seen in my signature - "If you wanna make God laugh, tell him YOUR plans!" HE has a plan, and I have to believe that He is pleased that a show that invokes his name in a positive way has touched the lives of so many of us. Keep the faith!

It also sounds to me that something else may be in the works for the near future!! But that doesn't erase my extreme disappointment in Animal Planet for not giving Sue Thomas a fighting chance!! It doesn't make sense to say that they received more support in letters and emails than any other program they've shown, and then cancel it from their lineup!!
I agree with Ivory, the letters and emails AP received from Sue Thomas fans will definitely help the Johnsons going forward!! I'm so glad that AP admitted that they had never received so much response!!
With my family being in "the business" off and on, I have a little niggling thought that maybe AP was picked to see if there was indeed fans out there that would support the show if it returned!! After all Discover has many channels!! Yes, that's the thought I'm going to carry with me today!! I may be way out in left field, but it makes me feel a little better!!
Keep up the fight, keep praying, we haven't been beat yet!!!

I'm still stunned.
But, now that I've re-read the message, it also makes me think that the Johnson Brothers might have had something... I don't want to say "better", but it's the only word I can come up with right now... in mind when they first wanted to bring the show back.
I'll keep my fingers crossed and hope for the best that whatever news they might have for us in the future will be THE news we've been waiting for.

Words can't express how much my heart sank when I read the email earlier today. I just wanted to weep in front of my laptop. I pray that their good news is just that, good news.
All in God's time, all in His plan. He's blessed all of us with the show in those first few years. Just think that when STFBE first came on back in 2002 that 7 years later you would be meeting with friends to share stories and thoughts about characters that feel like family. Even though I'm relatively new here I feel a freedom of expression I'll never find anywhere else. I've been blessed already.
It hurts so much that it's gone again but look how far we've come. We never gave up. Like Lucy said "Sometimes you need to take a step back to see you have really taken a 100 steps forward."
I'm prepared to take those next 100 steps....
Waiting and praying with the rest of you.

I'm going to put in my two-cents worth (which is a lot in this current economic gloom)-- Throughout all this excitement over the show's hopeful return, I've been merely an audience because I'm all the way on the oppostie side of everyone's pond. Sad to say, over here no one's even heard of STFBE, save for a very, very, very few despite the whole 3 seasons and reruns being aired over Hallmark channel. So, even if I get excited with you ladies, I fear the series, if new ones are made, might not find its way to my tiny island. So, I'm keeping my cool in order not to get disappointed.
It's puzzling how decadent shows like Desperate Housewives get a long lease of life, and something family-friendly like STFBE, despite high-ratings in the US and Canada, gets the axe.
Whenever I tune into Hallmark (Asia) channel, I'm confuzzled at the shows they are showing there that run for seasons after seasons, but which I sense and am sure, no one really watches. Ever heard of Jane Doe, starring an ageing Lea Thompson and an even aged uh... can't-even-remember-his-name? Or 'Mystery Woman'... starring Kelly somebody and... again, I see the face but can't put a name to the male-lead's face? Granted, these are wholesome family fare. Still I doze off each time I try to get interested in the storyline. I'm very sure, nobody watches these shows. Yet, every week they're there on the screen, right on schedule. I wonder what yardstick producers use to decide if a show is worth another season.
Sigh, the state of TV fare nowadays. I swear, if I have a goldfish, I'd rather gaze into the fishbowl than the TV screen.

Oh, I've heard of these two shows and I absolutely love them. I find them to be very exciting. Hallmark here in the U.S. actually hasn't aired these since before Christmas and I have been very disappointed in that. Ever seen Murder 101 starring Dick and Barry Van Dyke? This is a great show too! This is usually shown in rotation with Jane Doe and Mystery Woman. BTW, Joe Penny and William R. Moses are the two other actors on Jane Doe and it's Kelly Martin and Clarence Williams III (aka Mod Squad fame) who star in Mystery Woman.
Just because I love these doesn't mean that everyone would, so I respect your opinion, but I do love them.
Anyhow, I will be sending my e-mail to Animal Planet to advise them of how disappointed I am that they would send me a thank you e-mail on the same day I get the e-mail the show's been yanked.
I am with the rest of you though. I am praying that God has something even better in store for our beloved show. I thank the Johnsons so very, very much for all they are doing and for not giving up on Sue Thomas F.B.Eye. I also want to thank all the stars (and the Johnsons) for treating us not just as viewers and fans, but making us feel like we are part of their family. I think that's probably pretty rare nowadays.

I was away from the page doing a project for school so imagine my surprise when I went to the channel yesterday to see something totally different.

Then i thought there might be a time switch which i had missed but nope... after going on line that wasn't the case at all. And i was soo looking forward to watching some of the episodes that i had missed.
Guess we're going to have to hope some channel picks it up again. I so happy to see Jack and the gang back on tv again. but now i feel like this --->

after 2 weeks. sigh....
I guess it's back to the fanifctions for me.

Oh.

I apologize for my callous venting. Of course there are viewers who love those shows, very much like there those who don't think much of STFBE, which is causing all our grievances in the first place. Reading back my comment, I realise I should've kept my venting to myself. That was VERY insensitive and thoughtless of me. My abject apologies to Mr&MrsHudson and to all who take offense at my remarks. I can only offer utter frustration as an excuse. I wish I can retract all those words. I hang my head in shame.
I am truly, truly sorry.

MizzN, absolutely no apology necessary. As I said, just because I love those shows doesn't mean that everyone does. Please, please do not feel badly. I think we are all frustrated right now because of what Animal Planet has done. It's nice that we all have a place to come and commiserate together about the show that we all do love, Sue Thomas F.B.Eye.

everyone and keep on

that we will hear some of that good news Joan was speaking of soon!

This is very heart breaking news, for everyone and I'm sad with everyone else.
I now realizing, that, that mite be also the reason, why it only last for three season. When it first came out. These tv station, don't like family friendly programming. For some reason, anything to do with, good tv, they seem to run away from. But I will keep my fingers cross, that we will, one day, see it on our tv screens again.

GOOD news is that it started airing today on 'gospel music channel' at 4pm here in NYC and i think the show fits well on that station....
Still hoping for a new season.... so something (fingers crossed)

I'm also glad another channel picked the series up, and hope that if it has many viewers again, this will convince TV channels that a new season is a good idea.

I am so excited that Sue Thomas F.B.Eye and Doc are both on the Gospel Music Channel! Did all of you U.S. fans notice that for the very first time we got to see the scene with Howie, Bobby and Myles eating pizza on "Adventures in Babysitting" that was never aired when the show wa on PAX (ION)? That was great, but I do wish they would stop chopping off the ends of scenes before the commercial breaks. I have noticed during several episodes that the whole scene was not shown (i.e., during "Prodigal Father" and "Homeland Security".
Still hoping and praying for new episodes to be made though. We all need to let GMC know how much we love STFBEye. They are currently asking viewers to participate in a survey. If you go to the website, you can take the survey. It doesn't take long. They want to know what you like and dislike about GMC and have several questions where you can specifically state that you watch STFBEye and Doc on GMC and how much you like these shows. I encourage each and every one of you to go to the GMC website and take the survey. The more positive response they get the better. Who knows, maybe they'd think about some original programming for dramatic shows and want some new episodes of STFBEye! Please, please, please, please, please...
