‘SUE THOMAS: F.B.EYE,’ PREMIERS MONDAY, APRIL 6, 2009 ON ANIMAL PLANET
“Sue Thomas: F.B.Eye”, inspired by the true story of the F.B.I’s first deaf surveillant and her hearing dog Levi—is coming to ANIMAL PLANET, beginning Monday, April 6, with a two-hour opener (8:00 – 10:00 p.m., ET/PT, 7:00 to 9:00 p.m., Central and Mountain. Thereafter, it will be shown in its regular time slot, Mondays at 9:00 ET/PT and 8:00 p.m. Central and Mountain.
Deanne Bray stars as a young deaf woman who, along with her hearing dog, Levi, is starting her first job – with the F.B.I. -- where Sue’s unique lip reading ability lands her in the bureau’s elite surveillance team. Suddenly Sue and Levi are “G-men,” caught up in more action than they ever bargained for. But what they lack in experience, they make up for in spirit and enthusiasm.
“This is a call to action for ‘Sue Thomas: F.B.Eye,’ fans” says co-creator Gary Johnson. “It’s a chance to enjoy your favorite ‘Sue Thomas’ episodes. And if the show does well, Animal Planet is interested in making new episodes. So we’d encourage fans to let them know you’re out there by telling them how much you enjoy the show.”
~o~
Mark your calendar and set your DVR for April 6!! And feel free to post your response to this news here. We will make sure your thanks and comments are forwarded back to Gary Johnson.

Thank you for posting this information!
As a fan who was only introduced to
Sue Thomas, FBEye after it was off the air, and who did not have access to it when it was on PAX, I am thrilled to see that it will be on a basic cable channel where more people will have the opportunity to see this show that has come to mean so much to so many people. I truly feel that there is the potential for a whole new fanbase to be reached, and I am truly thankful any time quality programming is available instead of the normal TV fare.
Looking forward to this new opportunity to see my favorite characters!

I'm echoing everyone else! This is the best, greatest, grandest news! And with the possibility of NEW EPISODES? Well, I'll just take the reruns for now. It would be even nicer if they are the original, uncut episodes. And I also heard the shows will be available on DVD, so I have my finger on the internet connection to buy the DVDs as soon as they pop up for sale!

THIS IS NEWS THAT IS AN ANSWER TO MY PRAYERS.
I AM SOOO EXCITED TO THINK MY FAVORITE TEAM WILL ONCE AGAIN BE ON TV AND WITH THE HOPES OF SOME NEW EPISODES. BE STILL MY HEART.
I CAN HONESTLY SAY, TRY AS I HAVE, THERE HAS NOT BEEN ONE SHOW ON TV THAT COMES CLOSE TO STFBEYE AND I MISS IT SO MUCH. SO AS IN BOBBY'S WORDS, I AGREE....WOOHOO

My only concern is that if they
do start filming new episodes that they won't be able to get all the same actors...I mean with YB doing "Murdoch Mysteries" now maybe he wouldn't be able to come back and be Jack...that would be terrible!
I really really hope that if they can get Sue Thomas back on the air again that they can get all the same actors back...it just wouldn't be the same without them...
I also really really hope tht if they can get Sue Thomas back on the air again that CTV here in Canada will pick it up. That station has been re-airing the series daily (except Sundays) for the last couple of years (I almost have all the eps...just missing three - which I should have after the next 3 Saturdays.)

And I'll tell him so if I have to!!!!
Please, everyone, remember to write Animal Planet (I don't get that station here in Canada but I'm going to write anyway) and tell them how much you enjoy Sue Thomas F.B. Eye. Let's overwhelm them with mail before the show has even started!!!!!

i was at the convention where this news was shared and what Gary stated was that they were planning on a series of movies of the week rather than a new series. he also stated that they would only use the original cast and work round their schedules. if any are not available they won't recast, soimply not use the character.
he also stated that they won't initially get jack and sue together because that would spoil the romance story line so i'm pretty sure deanne and yannick will be involved with the movies and get together eventually

I actually heard a little bit of both. Cath said something about a series of Movies of the week (which is awesome all by its lonesome), but Animal Planet is also interested in making new episodes! That is so sweet!!!!
Pardon me while I break for a happy dance...

I mean, I'd be happy with one or the other, but if both were to happen, then I'll honestly be over the moon!
I think I might write to Animal Planet everyday and thank them for putting our show make on the air in the US. Hey, I'll even kiss their feet and wash their cars.

Thanks Starbuck, for the "specific" information - it's appreciated. And let me take this opportunity to thank JustMe and Tina and each and every moderator for EVERYTHING they do to keep this site going. Not only going, but I'd say THRIVING; it seems like every day I see a new member.
I'm VERY encouraged when you say that the cast and crew are aware of the support - that makes it seems more likely that all of them would return if their schedules permit.
There was a spring in my step this morning when I woke up and for a few seconds, I couldn't figure out why... then my poor old brain caught up and I remembered the good news - what an exciting way to start the day!

If snail mail is way too slow for you, discovery.com (Animal Planet is part of the Discovery Channel) has a Viewer Relations Form that you can fill out reguarding your favorite shows.
I just went through some of the form (it's seperated into steps) and Sue Thomas hasn't been added to the list yet, but it should be listed once the episodes start airing again (I hope).
http://extweb.discovery.com/viewerrelationsOf course, I just might do a little of both. And maybe since it's showing in the US again, I can finally get my mom into it.

I've said this before, Jen, and I'll say it until I pass from this earth. You, Janet, TinaLynne AND all the moderators have done a wonderful, marvelous thing for all us STFBEYE fans in building and maintaining this site.
It is hard for me to express my appreciation for how I feel about RFF! It has made me not afraid to say what is in my heart and brought new friends into my life who have showered me with their love and support. For that, I thank you and all those connected with this great site as well as the members. And I shall be eternally grateful to God for blessing me with this site and all the friends I have made.
Rest assured, I will be spreading the word about STFBEYE to all I know and contacting Animal Planet to praise them for this leap of faith they have made to bring STFBEYE back on the air. We will not disappoint them or the cast and crew of this marvelous show. To quote a line from the Apollo 13 movie, Failure is not an option!
Thank you and God Bless You All!

Can I suggest that we all send a snail mail letter to begin with? Even those of us who don't reside in the states -- explaining how much we love the show and would be excited to see it continue. I think that would make an impact on the broad appeal of the series.

Don't be expecting to see anything out of fan-fic land on-screen...the licensing/copyright issues would be a red-tape nightmare of epic proportions.
As to snail mail VS e-mail....snail mail has more impact I think...because all those people (secretaries, mail men) that see the envelopes (even if they don't read the letter) will know that -somethings- going on...ya know?

I'm going to reiterate again that we're recommending snail mail, versus inundating their servers with emails that may have no chance of getting seen. Ticking off an IT guy when the server gets flooded isn't the way to go - good chance the only hint an executive will get that something is up is a message from that same ticked off IT guy that they got spammed. Several thousand letters and envelopes scattered across their desk from a mailbag, however, is really going to get the attention we want. So, hand-write or type, whichever you prefer, but let's put it on paper and in an envelope. Let's be heard by the people we want to hear us.
Thanks,
Janet

I don't know whether we get the Animal Planet channel here in the UK, I think I do, I need to go and check my planner on Sky now. I ditto eberyone above, this is the news we were all waiting for. Like Tina and Kav, YB can do Murdoch Mysteries, cause I am enjoying the second series, but he can also do STFBE. STFBE had him first!!! And they have to get the rest of the team back too. Whether it be a film, or more eppys we will take anything. We're coming to the end of series 3 on Hallmark in the Uk again, so this is like a breath of fresh air!

Hey I've just thought, if all of us readers, get at least our family and friend to send in our views and apprecaition they will have no choice to bring it all back on air. So when do we start writing in people, now or around April when Animal Planet start airing the show?
Gosh, I can't wait to tell my sisters, with the problems as a family we are coping with daily and have been for the past few years, this website and STFBE repeats is what has kept us going. To now be told this excellent news, I can't seem to stop jumping, skipping and dancing round the whole house!!!!

I understand completely. The website was just another option to add.
I don't really have the time to think about writing a letter durig the week, but as soon as I can sit down and think, I'm going to put my thoughts to paper.
The best part about them showing the series on Animal Planet is that it's on a Monday and I have Mondays off now. It's like doubly sweet for me, because I'm not able to watch my favorite shows now that I've changed my days.

I was thinking we could write a letter now stating how excited we are to discover that Animal Planet will be carrying Sue Thomas F.B. Eye beginning in April, telling them how much we love the show, and why. Then, in a month or so, when the show has begun airing, we could write another one. I figure the first batch of letters might get their attention and make them take a serious look at the show and the second batch might convince them that they really do have a good thing going and they need to jump on making more episodes.
Of course, I'm in no way suggesting that any of us should be limited to only writing two letters each.

You touch a valid point there, even though Animal Planet here is a Discovery Channel offspring too, it's still focused on the Dutch/Belgium market.
I have no idea about the usual programming of Animal Planet US, but ours only shows Animal shows. Of course one could add: Levi is a star of the show, that counts....
And to put things in perspective: STFBE was first released on NET 5 in early spring 2005 when the original show in the US was in its final stages.
Personally I think we (as in The Netherlands) might have more chance of Belgium running the show again on Één like they have done on Saturdays for the last months.
But still, good news. It seems fans can still make a difference (just remember JAG).
Hopefully, when making new episodes, they'll keep the spirit of the show as it was before slating, same faces, same MO: the reason why many of us fell in love with the series.

How awesome to have Animal Planet pick up this great show.
I can see them getting many new viewers on that chanel just from Levi alone.
But I'm sure they will quickly fall in love with the rest of the team and great stories written by the Johnson Brothers who to me are by far the best of the best...
I thank them for not giving up.

Actually when Animal Planet first went on the air, it wasn't all animal shows... well they were, but they weren't exactly centered around the animals (Lassie not included).
I can't for the life of me remember what the show was called, but there was a show about this family who owned a ranch that the animals were used in movies (or something along those lines). The father was the sherrif and the mother was a vet (I think). And the family would go around solving crimes and mysteries.
It's kind of hard to explain, but I remember that it was a very good show and not that overly violent, which makes Sue Thomas a perfect fit to the channel, I think.
